Shooting HE is much much more effective than loading AP and then waiting for that bowtanking BB to finally give broadside... which never happens. Something like French Baguette will burn you down much faster than you can move around and get AP into the broadside. True AP is much more effective - if you can DO DAMAGE with it. With HE you always do damage. It's not like it has worse dispersion.

True, that. AA cruisers are even easier to kill than (some) DDs. Yes he did, Kaga B (T8). Well it just keeps spawning planes so that makes sense. Kaga also has very flimsy planes, so again that makes sense. The thing is what doesn't make sens is he keeps attacking that DD, unless that DD was chasing his CV. I think usually I manage AT LEAST -5 per game, but after zero CANT COUNT THEM.

AFAIK you get nothing at all for spotting. At least not for "damage upon your spotting".

I'd think it is far easier to slam a BB for 25-50% of his HP. At least they won't manoeuvre hard, they won't smoke up and they'll not be going fast anywhere. Also, since you spot them at 10 km+, you can take your time and see what angle of approach you want to use. lastly, they'll have plenty room to accomodate around 6-8 torpedoes or at least a few bombs.

... or ,maybe the CV-players just stay away from those. But alas, we both know that's not the case...

The thing is they are called "fighters" but actually are better called "spotters". because the question is, will they fight, well maybe they will, but they'll sure spot all the time. Also, people DO care - they yell at you when you do not provide them. You get "-1". Of course they always want them at the other end of the map, but hey. And they do not realize that half the time they don't repel enemy aircraft anyway. And that there is a limited supply to that consumable. But they care, that is why always "-1".

Well our team was kinda @^@# as well. Someone at other end of map cursing at me for "not giving air support, FCK CV -1". We had many many more on the left side than your team, but our BBs turn tail... Only my tenth game in it though I still have to get to grips with it, but: ...and nope not a CV main, the only class I do not play much is DDs (as my son plays them, we regularly div up and he is much much better). I play BBs and cruisers sort of equally often to CVs. There's not many CV players in my clan though so "dirty jobs, someone gotta do it". The FDR is sort of like Ark Royal, but filthier. Slow planes and the main skill is to learn how to loiter around for second drop without getting killed off. It makes a helluva lot more damage though, although I have so far done more in Ark Royal. Mind that I have 634 battles in Ark Royal... 3x the amount that I have in Lexi which is next up... I have 50 in Midway and 30 in Hakuryu. Maybe you'd better call me "Ark Royal main" (more battles than all the rest together). But yes I know how to play CV... ehh... well... a bit. Yes that was a hilarious match, our side could have messed it up at any time really. Should have been 200K but even that they managed to mess up. Your div did very very well though. If you had one more divvie you might have won. Top team, congrats. And it sure wasn't me pulling the other team... can't even carry in a the most broken OP carrier (yet). But I will learn...

Used to be pretty funny to sneak up on other BBs using the concealment, then blap them with AP and make a run for it. Nowadays, not so much. Blappy-botes like Stalingrad will run you down and out-DPM you, especially with the raised citadel. Oh and then there's French Baguettes with speedboost and MBR, ans Ruski Floatgulags, which you can only get down by hammering them with HE.

It's not, CVs have been nerfed so much it is damn hard to kill a DD unless he is a tater or has bad luck. You'll just have to adapt - I regularly div up with a DD-main, in a CV. he has no problems, usually survives and ends top dog. The thing is though, the spotting.... usually the DD gets killed because of that. No-smoke DDs... well... ehh... yes possible, but hard. Then again, I don't hear those DDs whine when they score two BBs (that are also taters or have bad luck). Also when teammates tater( and they do... a lot...) DDs can and will attack the CV. As they should. In the past it was easy to kill them... not so much anymore. IMO the nerfs are enough, just the spotting needs to go. That isn't as much a nerf to CVs as it is a nerf to the rest of the team. And I'd applaud it. 8 km, that is plenty. Most nutty though (and I have seen them...) those that cry wolf i when in a DD, curse at CV et cetera next game they are in a BB and they want the CV to kill the DD... LOLLLZzzz. No mate you can do that yourself, I'm not gonna go after that Halland. You wanted CV nerf, you got it. Now go have fun, that DD is YOUR problem now, as long as he doesn't get near me... Indeed at T4 it is pure poison. I don;t know why they gave Hosho (and Langley) double torps. Grinded them when they had singles, which was bad enough. And then you can get 3 per side. It's just abnormal, really.

Just met a forumite @Srle_Vigilante and his divvie in game, unfortunately I had to kill him as he was on the reds. The slowness of FDR is kinda funny, wasted loads and loads of torps - just before they hit, somebody else kills them LMAO. We had one Conqkek, hit him first, got no fire, went for a Yammy that was parking at the rear. Told him I like killing rear-parked BBs. He said I wouldn't kill him and he was right - torps running, BOOM somebody else kills him. Then that Conqkek runs into an island, same thing. I see him do it, run in full speed (well, speed... it is FDR...) launch full set, perfectly on track... Well, lost a load of planes but no cigar. So, instead of the expected +100K, this is what I got. Was funny though with all the comments. BTW you "only" ate 7 rockets (out of 52) in Smaland. Even that Montana could not eat them all... yes we'll need a bigger boat... He ate 38 and that was two deliveries. I have even had it happen a DD ate ONE of the 52... RNGesus is strong in this one. That FDR though, man it is definitely OP as well as broken AF (all CVs are). I need to go shower now....

Yeah, if not provide a key that says "I have been giving you AA support but you ff-ed off other side of map so go eat dirt" or something. can I change that to "shoot that B###rd or do I have to do everything myself"....

I just had one today against @Lordcrafty and his divvies, 3rd game in FDR for me. Managed to get two strikes in... Yeah Cvs are broken but this... who do they think I am, I am not @El2aZeR !!

Yes I know, zero karma... Doubt if I'll use it much in randoms, but it is a must have. WeeGee decided T10 CB will have CV, so if the others bring it, so must we.

Influence does not equal damage. CV, depends on what they do. Not so much on what ship it is. Especially in ranked. I like Kaga because I can do anything with everything. As in, torps/bombs/rockets are all effective. Those 4 torps can really stop a DD from going into a cap.... make him change his mind. I can't really kill DDs, well I can, but usually teammates kill the DDs that I am spotting/hunting. When they do not that is when you know you have a really crappy team... But when they do it is of course no damage for you. But if you want to win in ranked, you must... Also... if I spot a DD in a BB... and I have the HE loaded... he is usually dead in one shot. Because I am quite near. The only chance he has is when somebody else (like the CV) spots him, I might miss a bit. So when I spot a DD while I am in BB, there can be 2 things happening - he kills me or I kill him... Might take a lot of damage, but usually he is dead (maybe I am too). Parseval can beat NC, but only if there is two cruisers (Parseval will snack on both of them). Shokek, depends on what ships you get as well. If Kansas, well, maybe not. If Tirpitz/Bismarck/Amagi, then yes. I find it much easier to "save a star" with a BB. You might remember what I did with Hood in Narai... I'll not miss much and I know where/when to shoot.

This is true but it is not really the thing. In Kaga I made ~100K damage, maybe 120 tops if it was a long game in ranked. If the game was crap (all potato quickly to death) maybe 35-50K. IN BB, easy 100K every time, usually 130-150. A bad game, at least 70k. Tried all CVs, best steady one is Kaga. After that Shokek and Parseval. Parseval is very occasional, if you have many cruisers then it is good. But usually you get 2 BBs, one CL and one DD and then it sucks (but you just kill the other CV instead).

In ranked? Took out Kaga, never ended top. And I am quite savvy with that thing.... Then took NC, with a 3 point captain... ended top most of the time. And I'm quite potato in that. CVs are broken, but damage? Nah.

That's about right indeed. But it is fine. Ifthey whine - let the rockets do the talking...
