@WG: One-dimensional hightier random rounds.
Yosha_AtaIante replied to OldSchoolFrankie's topic in General Discussion
The discussion ends between me and him. This has nothing to do with this topic. Regardless since I was your only opposition all that is left for you is to wait for sera to give you more input anyway. Therefore good luck -

Guess we are done discussing this Kilian. You can continue believing in the eternal good of things for all I care. Good luck in finding a solution together with WG I'm sure it will take at least as long as the CV rework is live -
Gokase permanent bonus...
Yosha_AtaIante replied to Karkong_the_Impaler's topic in General Discussion
The value of the bonus comes from additional cpt xp (I doubt you can make the 115k investment pay itself back quickly with the permabonus). It can be a nice little bonus if you like the t6 tech tree ship and want additional cpt xp and fxp out of it. Serves no different purpose except for being a slight fxp sink. -

Whats the issue? It's a permabonus that normally costs 1k doubloons which you can get for 115k fxp -

Companies don't do that these days because communication is valued. The form of communication and the honesty of it doesn't matter. It still amazes me how limited your thinking is to only Black and White solutions. Those morality imposed restrictions are truly sad to witness. As many of the forumites already pointed out, WG hasn't been honest often. There is a good reason for it. WG could do as you suggest but it's easier to keep you guys hooked so you continue to consume the forum, things surrounding the game and to give you the feeling of being important. It's manipulation and you are being targeted and you don't even notice. -

You misunderstood. he said " I " as in he can't. He is just the CM. He doesn't have the power to access such data and publish it otherwise leakers would have done it long ago. You completely dodged my question. What if the issue does exist? Clearly it then won't end the discussion. WG already verified the data internally. They likely concluded on a decision already. They don't need to tell you anything about their processes and therefore they don't need to share it with Sera either -

What you are saying is correct and it's obvious that making randoms as chaotic as possible is their goal to diminish the influence of individual great players by just throwing so much nonsense at them that they can't play the usual way. That includes many 12km radar ships, subs, cvs, Ragnar, Sherman, superships, Napoli. You can barely pick a non meta ship in randoms these days without therefore forfeiting a lot of influence you could have had over the battle and you risk those meta picks falling into the hands of bad players on your team who won't make them count when it's needed. The more variety the game gets the more factors you have to suddenly play around and prepare for. This is deliberate, intentional. WG can't allow veterans to get comfortable as then bad players would just be completely powerless. But give a bad player an Annapolis with "F" button and even he becomes something you can't just ignore and need to be wary of. Give a bad player a sub and the pings will make you nervous, waste your dcp and make you play differently and less effective as if they weren't there. Give a bad player a CV and he might throw all his planes at you for 10 minutes before he finally gets deplaned. A bad player can just smoke up in his sherman, press hydro and hold the left mouse button while aiming at your general direction and suddenly you won't be easily able to push that side as otherwise you risk losing half your hp to tripple perma fires. It's all catered to chaos and randomness. This is very clear. Short games happen probably a bit more often due to this. Submarines normalize that because they sometimes can be hard to kill, while they aren't effective they can prolong match time same as CVs who survive last and need additionally 2 - 3 minutes to get killed making the match last longer than it would without them. It's very very obvious and it'S as usual just weird that people here seem to pretend to not know this exists on purpose. -

Pretty much this. Many believe still that balance can be achieved with so many differen't ships currently in the game. The more that is added the more the balance gets blurred and having certain ships and more of those on one team compared to the other can cause matches to be completely off balance no mater the playerskill. If you put a super unicum in a Yoshino vs an average player in a Smalland the Smalland player will simply have more match influence towards a win. This is just one example of the problems WG faces. The other problem is simply as Sera said, the game as it is is so far away from establishing "order" into random battles that they would need to change the whole of the game to repair it. What does knowing the data help in that regard? Reassuring you that it is indeed correct that the avg battle duration is now lower compared to years ago? What will you do with that information? Tell WG "you see, battles are shorter and it gets worse fix pls thx bye."? They know what's going on better than you and probably know better than any of us how to proceed with it. If they feel it not being a problem so far as to what Sera said earlier I quote him: Even if it is identified by the community as a problem after seeing data supporting the idea of battles indeed lasting short a fix or work for a fix is "hardly around the corner". Sera answered basically every question here. So question to you @HMS_Kilinowski, what would the data help you with? -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Yosha_AtaIante replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Its hard to judge. You are not performing bad on both and its normal to have better PR on the ship you lose more often if you stay alive for longer. In a losing game you have more damage potential than in a winning game after all. What causes all the losses is difficult to tell. Maybe you are shooting at the wrong targets. It could be that you are playing too safe and not contributing enough important gameplay on your own in Hindenburg. Henri is a fast ship with better utility than Hindenburg, you can go to the place you are needed faster and therefore can react better to match circumstances. Hindenburg because if its slow speed usually is stuck for a while on the flank you choose to operate which means your reaction time to match circumstances is way slower and therefore your influence is limited to where you are. If your team falls apart in the other side and you can't react in a Hindenburg then that moment might already be GG for you. In a Henri you have the chance to move over and reinforce. -
A CV player who plays effectively also has the same issue. You usually never spot a target long enough for it to matter to much for your team. A good enemy surface ship will also understand the CV players target selection and be prepared to be spotted for a moment. Mid match most ships exchanging fire spot each other anyway too. It's rare that if I for example have a priority target, for example an island hugging Des Moines that I accidently spot a Zao that currently flanks wide because the shortest way to attack the Des Moines is not all around. The accidental spottings in my experience barely do anything. I therefore just don't believe it to be an issue. This belief is reinforced by my experience when I myself play surface ships. I usually always get spotted "on my terms" as I can most times clearly see the enemy CVs planes before they spot me or know what his priority target is supposed to be and that he might spot me soon.
-
I agree with you that such a mino could die with the help of teammates. I personally don't believe in that however and do not believe it to be reliable. That's why I dislike using it as argument to reinforce the idea of the CVs own capability. After all a DD could also do that spotting instead of the CV just as an example. If it is an endgame situation and there is just a mino a CV player needs to deal with and another ship is able to shoot the same target then it's only logical to go for that target. That the CV can then spot said target is just part of the game. I don't believe this makes the CV op as the CV itself is relying on others for the job to be done.
-
Guys, technically a CV can commit to do many things. Most of them in a match are stupid decisions. Arguing about going out of ones way to grief a specific ship while losing the battle for it is kind of pointless let's be honest. I believe we are at a point where all of us well understand that CVs are OP and broken. This has been said enough times. There really is no reason to go over this again. I will however point this one out. An FDR that tries to kill a Mino which "he has to" will not be able to do it as such a situation is usually endgame. This means that most likely there is little time on the clock. So if the mino is healthy it's pretty much impossible because a mino has superheal and you only have HE bombs and torps. You can only make a drop every 25sec and mino can easily dodge the torps and go broadside to the bombers. This means you do not only terribly little damage but also you lose 25 seconds after each drop. If there are only around 5min on the clock in endgame and "you have to" kill that mino it's just unrealistic unless the mino voluntarily eats your torps and doesn't heal. So Blub__Blub might be a bit over enthusiastic here. It's never that simple.

Why do you test this in rhe first place? It seems to me that you are trying to have a new basis to create changes on so as to bring CVs back into comp somehow as with how things currently work tweaking it any better is not really possible?

They told you it is because of technical issues.

it is but you only see the battle as it plays out without details about what the teammates are using. You can circumvent that with mods though

Just read their reply again. They tell you that due to technical reasons the transfer of accounts is not possible for an currently indefinite amount of time.

It appears as they gave you a clear answer as to why transfers can't happen right now.

The game gives you one objective, which is to win. You play to have fun while playing. But if your only objective is to play to have fun and not to win then you are selfish over 11 other players. Play to win and if that's not fun to you then change the game -

Steam Player Numbers Sudden Increase
Yosha_AtaIante replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
Some of them, the ones who think the game to be fun will stick around. They are new so they dont know about controversies, have no experience about why the game is supposed to be bad. They cant comprehend or understand what we do. So it<'s likely they will stick, some will buy some prems and then sunken cost fallacy will hold some of them. It always works.
