  1. I have always found it *odd* that things like hydro and radar have any effect (viewable effect by the user) on anything other than the ship using that consumable... the whole "my fleet has a shared data-net" thing, where every ship is instantly updated with all data, seems odd (to a newcomer such as I). I guess it's at what level does your suspension of disbelief get crossed... having to type "there's a DD in j8!" is perhaps a little too Battleships for peeps... so instead we get a 21st-century data-net. ¬_¬ I do wonder what the game would be like if things like radar/hydro results were only visible to the ship using that radar/hydro.

    Radar

It's difficult... One thing I learned from watching King of the Seas - reverse into a cap so that you can flee instantly in the *right* direction (away from the cap): saves your arse so, so, so often - *most/many* radar users will radar when their radar range covers the cap area itself entirely - so moving just outside of the cap often puts you just outside of radar range. And, as others have said, know which ships have radar, how long they last, their range and cool-down. - you can use a side-bar info mod from Aslains that will give these stats "live" if you don't want to learn them by heart or have to refer to off-game sheets. (Also includes speed, spotting distances, gun range and reload times if you wish). There's also another Mod that tells you if you were detected by what (radar/hydro, ship or plane) that can be useful in conjunction with other things. The bigger problem is playing ranked where the "team" doesn't know what to do or how to support the DDs in which case you are on your own and it becomes very hard... other than hiding in the shadow of islands and so forth. I've seen other DD players deliberately bating radar ships into using their radar - deliberately re-entering a cap to be radar'd again and re-flee... until the radar usages are gone in the first 10 mins or so. Bear in mind that when using radar the *team* in ranked often does sod-all about it and never even bothers to shoot at the revealed ship/DD ... so again the vagaries of ranked team-play or the absence of it, can dramatically affect how a game turns out.

New Unsporting conduct system needs to be fixed

yes - I meant that fewer players and predictability of bots make it "easier" not to cause friendly-fire in co-op... its "safer" to clear a Pink in Co-op, plus the games are usually much shorter than random.
  9. Been playing for about 6 months now, never purchased a ship with FreeXP as I spent it all on getting new ships faster (Big Mistake)... I just don't use it now as I play the ships up from stock and only get a new ship once I've *earned* the xp - which makes for a better player anyway. Starting to hoard it now.. got about 245k freeXP from the last 4 or 5 weeks, so it will be a little bit of a grind but a free ship is a free ship. You dont *need* any of these ships, so... I think its pretty cool that you can get a free ship regardless of how.

New Unsporting conduct system needs to be fixed

There is an obvious correlation between "Torping safely" and "Torping dangerously" and TK/FF penalties - in any instance where a friend turns into your torpedoes without you being able to warn them by definition means that you were Torpedoing Dangerously: which simply means that there is a risk of a friendly unit taking friendly-fire without you being able to warn them in advance of a potentially dangerous torpedo attack. Some players seem to want to be able to torpedo dangerously and then claim none of it is their fault - well, it is your fault - it may not be ENTIRELY your fault, but you certainly carry a portion of the blame for launching the Torpedoes in the first place. If you launch 20KM Asashio torpedoes at a target 3 km away and it hits a friendly 16km away = ENTIRELY different kettle fo fish = as well as there being plenty of time for YOU to warn them, there is also plenty of time for that friendly player to see them and turn away as the friendly torpedo tracks are always visible. You can argue that many, many situations are dangerous, and if this is the case then you must ALWAYS accept the risk of friendly-fire happening to you, for no other reason than "launching my torpedoes"... there is no way around this. That said: You had the chance to play 2 "safe" co-op games to clear the Pink and never risk being forced entirely into co-op mode ONLY.. you chose NOT to take that 2 game option and RISKED playing in another random game where any further KT penalty might force you into the longer 9-game co-op penalty... it is YOU making these decisions. Not since the latest changes, but prior to that I've had the secondary-armament set fire to a BB that burned for the full duration - I always go play a couple of QUICK co-op games to get rid of the pink.. it really isn't hard to do and "costs you" no more than about 10 or 15 minutes... Really you are making poor gaming decisions and not accepting that you are taking onboard risks for yourself that you cannot fully control yourself.

Change Radar so that it only illuminates the target for the ship using radar. (Otherwise illuminated to other players by normal rules, such as targetted ship shooting etc)

Potential damage and damage by spotting

It seems obvious to me that the changes and announcements over the last few weeks indicate a weather change in how they are approaching a lot of (XP oriented) stuff, starting with making elements of the game more obvious to the player... in particular they are following recommendations from various CCs rather attentively, which has moved on into the new game modes to be tested shortly. This process is called "change". Introducing new things is also called "change". Introducing stuff without a means of the gamer understanding it is - bad - WG is changing how bad they are at that.... again, note the word *change* You don't fix stuff in one hit, its small incremental changes - and those are quite clearly underway. Meanwhile, was the hyper-aggressive attitude and reply really called for? Could you not, just possibly, said "What do you mean?" without the aggro, attitude and toxicity? Is it really too much effort for you to be polite?

changes are afoot even now on the test server

    +2/-2 or +1/-1 mm

hokum Yes, I have read your posts. I have not asked for "perfect balance" at any point - that is a straw-man argument you have inserted to argue your point. You appear to be saying that "As there will never be a perfect balance, we should not strive for the best balance we can get"... a fallacious perspective at best - you are also quite clearly indicating that there is an obvious imbalance within the same-tier ships "Only few will be ranked worthy" is pretty much spot on for "they aren't all as good as each other". This is known. I don't see why you are arguing with me...
  15. Starchy_Tuber

    +2/-2 or +1/-1 mm

Yeah, it kinda does... very much so.

    +2/-2 or +1/-1 mm

I'm not seeing your point here I'm afraid...
  17. Starchy_Tuber

    +2/-2 or +1/-1 mm

Sure.... because some ships are thought stronger than others.... going down that route isn't addressing the concern though - that's simply suggestive of poor balancing of the ships in each tier.

    +2/-2 or +1/-1 mm

+2 CV groups a couple of squadrons of torpedo bombers or even dive bombers, head straight for the bottom-tier-[edited] and insta-delete it - happens very, very, very often. It's essentially a free-xp gift at the start of the game. (Somebody will no doubt argue that you should be protected by your own CV but that's a bit of a joke - it doesn't happen - why expend planes defending bottom-tier-[edited]? )
  19. Starchy_Tuber

    +2/-2 or +1/-1 mm

Both. The issue for me is not that there exists +2/-2 but the frequency of those games. With my first ever Tier 8 ship I was so disillusioned with the game I almost quit - 20+ games as bottom tier, always fighting Tier 10 ships before I got a single game where I was top tier....and then another 20 games as bottom tier. Not following you on this - as every tier has the same spread of ship-types(DD, CA, BB, CV), and each (full) nation has that spread, how could it reduce the variety of types of ships?
  20. Starchy_Tuber

    Cost of Tier 9 BB's

Get one of the premium ships via Missions or Events - use it to make lots of silver. Tier 4,5,6,7 earn you lots, and they are good captain trainers (on the whole - Duke of York is essentially just a junkpile covered in ice)

    Suggestions thread

Make a dedicated Scenario Channel in-game and make it easier to find players to play the scenarios with - atm its as long as 1 hour plus trying to get a group together to play a scenario.... with non-stop "Join our Clan" Spam in the shared channel. Alternatively, make a dedicated Scenario Game Lobby (much preferable) i.e. Players enter the Lobby with Chosen Ship (Tier applicable "Ready up") and can be seen and invited by a Divisional leader into that Div - want a Tier 6 BB for your scenario? CHose it from the Lobby Ready-List - much less fannying about than the current system and almost worthy of the 20th Century in terms of tech! (j/k but - IRC is almost as old as me, and that was better than your chat system)
  22. Rather depends on the severity of the Heal/Damage areas in terms of DoT - it doesn't need to be "Fortnite" style where you're dead in a minute - just enough to persuade you inwards under certain circumstances. I wouldn't be vehemently against the concept and it deserves testing to see how it is implemented. One thing I will predict/comment on now though is that the "damage zone" will need to be variable by ship - as a percentile of its available Heal ability - otherwise super-heal ships such as the Conqueror could sit in the zone happily (still) and just heal-away - effectively ignoring it and still camping the map borders. - On that point - that in itself indicates a problem with the ship, not necessarily the game-mode. (I do actually like epicentre and standard battles - but I would like more variety)

Do you SUCK cant win want to know why

I am doing something similar to you - I totally screwed my beginnings in this game 1000+ totally clueless battles, using FreeXP to race through tiers without a clue and playing like it was a co-op game against bots. And now, very slowly, learning the game again and very, very, very slowly, raising my stats - I'm not overly fussed about my stats - other than an indicator that I am playing better.... but I am having to constantly smack myself around getting rid of bad habits and, most importantly; doing this called *THINKING*!!!! Along the way, the thing that I am noticing more and more is where other people are going wrong - dumb stuff - and you try to help them, try to tell them stuff, and so very often they just don't listen.. but, still gotta try.
  24. Games do not tend to be *fixed* with any single initiative - but a gradual change of many initiatives. A lot of people just don't seem able to see beyond the latest one and prefer to *diss* them before they even have a chance to be implemented/ trialled... and to *diss* them taken individually... because it is easy to do that. A lot of this forum consists of little more than negativity and vitriol, warranted or not... making it a perfectly average, normal game forum on the internet. YMMV
