Winrate on stats - how is this even possible?
Starchy_Tuber replied to Ukio's topic in General Discussion
is that the guy with a 19 point captain on a tier 1 ship? -
"The tier and the name seem to be one."

He's got you bang to rights there Sargento.

I wouldn't confuse "most people" with "a few vocal people in the forums"... and don't provide obvious solutions such as "don't use it then" - it upsets people when you use logic and common sense. -

What tosh! - your figures are made up to be convenient to your attitude and as such are deliberatley alarmist. Games build community through communications tools, a post-game lobby is an extra tool to allow people to discuss the recent game in a group environment, many games do this *lobby* approach and they work well. I'm confident that the Devs work on more than 1 thing at a time... and coding a chat lobby won't strain their dev-team too much. -
if they can play without problems the game is broken.

If we follow your logic, there would be no game at all. "Oh no! don't make that game, some people will whine!" -
How is a Farragut supposed to do well in a T8 game?
Starchy_Tuber replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
In the police, we'd come up against these people who'd say things like "but I've been driving for 20 years" as if it meant that had spent all 20 years learning how to drive... and that driving for 20 years meant they were somehow better than somebody who'd just passed their driving test.... whereas, in fact, and in practice, the moment they passed their driving test they stopped learning and often forgot the basics... and now had 20 years of bad habits and were 20 years out of date on road theory, tech, saftey and all otehr aspects... 1000 battles can easily teach you nothing good at all.... just like that guy with an 8K average damage in a tier 10 Hindie after hundreds of battles.... or the Tier 2 DD driver with 1000+ games none above tier 3. The game teaches you very little. -
Do detonations now come in bulk and pre-determined?

Confirmation Bias is now active.... -
How is a Farragut supposed to do well in a T8 game?
Starchy_Tuber replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
You missed the key element - the GAME doesn't teach one much - almost all of those resources are third-party content and not part of the GAME. One cannot create a game and then expect people to learn how to play it by going out of the game to a third-party resource..and then complain that they don't know squat... most people will not go to a third-party provider to find out how a game works, they expect the game to teach/tell them. Its lazy game development - the game should show/force you through a series of tutorials that explains all of the core game elements, ship consumables, game modes and so on and so forth... ....and many people just don't realise how hard it is to get internet users to click on a link or button. Edit: Plenty of videos about going middle and having it work - a favourite pastime of Flambass and friends for one thing... but at that point, you are conflating game-strategy with game-mechanics... which should be separate discussions; strategy is based on opinion, mechanics is based on rules/code. -
10% isn't a significant enough amount to persuade me to buy something that I don't need.

Well, that's a consistent underlying problem with WoWs - the game teaches you very little. -
Is Blacklisting supposed to work?
Starchy_Tuber replied to Starchy_Tuber's topic in General Discussion
Does that apply instantly or only after that game for subsequent games? ( We recently had a player constantly hitting "Negative" throughout the enter game and there seems no way to silence them at all) -

Starchy_Tuber replied to Starchy_Tuber's topic in General Discussion
For Co-op, yes I did actually... I couldn't see how it could be abused. ...for Random I wasn't sure. ( I know it didn't for Ranked and Clan.) Hence me asking the question... that is a process where one finds things out by asking others.... not sure how that is amusing, I've done so throughout my life and find it very useful to ask, and not just assume things. (thanks to those who answered without the need to be juveniles about it) -
Hopping mad! US Cruiser Split: Wargaming screwed up transfer of my captains to the new ships - refuse to help.

Right gotchya... not logged in atm, but pretty sure all my captains were unskilled (with points to spend) -

erm... you get the 190k elite xp for FREE so that you can retrain your captain... costs you nothing other than a game in co-op (or any other mode) whats the issue? (This was information released multiple times before the change also) -
Can we please get some sort of 21st century game lobby for scenarios?? please? Pretty please? something more like the below where we, the players, can see if anybody else is looking for a DIv for a specific Scenario and what they are looking for:
-
Played this a few more times now... The start, and keeping both regiments alive, is considerably harder than the rest of the mission: After the "Regiments bit" the scenario is simple and straightforward to complete so long as you have 4 or 5 ships left. The ability to heal via Bunker Hill helps, but its almost as if the AI becomes entirely passive after the 2 CVs enter the field of battle.... there are very few air attacks on the players with the AI concentrating almost exclusively on the two CVs... the only deaths I've seen to air attacks at this stage have been incidental ones where players have inadvertently sailed into the path of air-drop torpedoes that were launched at the AI - usually the Fletcher DDs or the carriers. ATM my overall impression of the scenario is: If you survive the first section, and keep the regiments alive, the rest is simple... it could really do with some of the later cruisers and DDs being a tad more aggressive.
-
Can you add mouse-over info to the signals and camouflages please? (saves you having to click into the flag/camo to see its stats/effects)
-
If anything I would extend the Nightime further...
-
Trying to prevent one of the two regiments from being destroyed early on is very difficult - even racing flat-out in a CL you cant get close enough to dispatch enough of the DD/CLs to stop one of the regiments being wiped out... in the process of trying to race there the DD torp-spam tends to wipe out half of your team mates... which may not be a bad thing in and of itself.. but the longevity of the regiments is an issue. Might want to make it more obvious that the two aerodromes need destroying... in 2 games so far team-mates have had no idea that those 2 aerodromes are killing requirements.

Cruiser Rule #1: Never be the first ship spotted in a game. Sadly PvE teaches you that to get * a good score* you need to rush in like a madman before all the juicy enemy ships are killed and there is no XP left for you... because you didn't rush middle like a lunatic. When one takes that approach into Random games you simply become the juicy XP for other people... you will die fast and die often. Took me about 1200 games before I bothered to work out why I was so utterly crap at this game...so, don't feel burdened by a poor start... lots of us have been there or still are there. I also fell foul of the Free XP trap "If I can only get a higher tier ship, I will do better!". erm... turns out: NOT: - it gets worse. "If I buy a premium ship I will do better!" (Atago, Scharny) - turns out - NOT - you get worse. So after "thoroughly ruining any chance of me getting decent stats", at around 1700 games, I started to actually do some research and watch a lot of youtube, then go back to low tiers and start again, no premiums, no free-xp purchases. It works. My stats are better and whilst I am still not massively bothered by them, they are a good guide as to how well I am doing *for my own purposes*. As a guide to improving, they are useful... don't be too bothered by them beyond that... Use somewhere like WoWs-numbers *progress* chart to keep an eye if you are improving or not. Try not to be a burden to your team... very poor players, with no effort at improving, can rather spoil the game for others (like tier 10 CV players with 18% win rate, suicidal DDs, people who don't realise they can stop shooting and still win, lots of reasons) If you don't know what you should be doing in a game - ask... most people won't help, a few will, but either way its hard to blame you for frakking up if nobody bothered to offer any help. Try not to rant in chat at crap teams - if you succeed in that, pls tell me how you did it. Use Sunscreen. (Only the oldies might get that reference)
