So what are the current most enjoyable premiums?

We don't use the G word anymore, it's "surprise holiday" now comrade.

And the best part? It's totally free!

    What PR should have been

You touched on something I haven't seen mentioned a lot, as everyone is (rightly) focusing on WG's scummy bait and switch tactics to screw people out of more money than they were willing to part with on Christmas: the fact that, in the long term, this is a dumb tactic as people who attempt to grind this for free, or those that try to grind it with a booster or two, will still need to grind so hard that they will likely burn themselves right out of the game. So yea, you'll get some of their money now, but you'll never see a lot of those people again. I'm not sure what's worse - WG being oblivious to this, or knowing full well they'll burn people out and not caring at all.

Best t6 DD is probably the t61. Cruiser? Hmm.. DeGrasse, maybe? BB, probably still Warspite. My favorite t7 premium is hands down the Haida.

    I'm shocked

As someone who's done plenty of UI design, let me tell you that any system that relies on people reading what they're clicking without any safeguards in the form of confirmation boxes is a bad system. Transfering account to another server is a rather big thing with big repercussions, and a confirmation button that pops up after you click the transfer button isn't that hard to do, neither is the acompanying text that explains exactly what and how will happen if they proceed. It's entirely possible someone is logged in, reads the article out of curiousity and accidentally clicks it. Confirmation dialogs are your friend in this case, I'm very surprised they didn't include one on an option to transfer servers, when a simple "are you sure you want to exit the game" one does exist. This is just basic UI design fail, plain and simple.

Why is tier 9 so much more fun than tier 10?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Jutland, but.. better than Daring? Uh, no. Daring is absolutely amazing. I would say Kitakaze is more versatile and functionally more useful than a Harugumo in most situations, though. Won't comment on PA DD's, because who plays those in 2019 anymore, anyway..

What you can still do during the Christmas event

I would suppport such a project as long as the developer isn't from the Magical Motherland of Balans. If it looked half decent I'd switch in an instant.
  8. I had a puerto rico owner explain in chat that having that ship right now is like "owning a rolex". I still feel dumber just for reading that.

    Cruisers and positioning.....

Cruisers are a broad term. Yes, you should expect a DM to be in front of your BB, close to a cap so he can radar it. Just don't rage at an Azuma or Henri for being at max range spamming, as potatoes often do because they don't understand individual ships or how they're played. Certain cruisers are made to kite at long ranges. Doesn't mean they should never push in - in some late game situations even an Azuma should push in, but understanding when and how takes practice and experience.

Poll - CV, yes or no?

Story of my life, man. Story of my life. Me not owning it is literally the only unbalanced thing about this ship.
  11. Yea this camo looks nice, I especially like it in the alt color scheme. I wish something similar was made available for the Fiji, as well.
  12. Captain_Newman

Poll - CV, yes or no?

And at least they were less common in the MM. Sigh, at least most of the enemy CV's I see these days seem to think going after DD's with ap bombs is the thing to do, so that's something...
  13. Captain_Newman

Poll - CV, yes or no?

You're quite correct, that's no reason to remove them. Literally everything else about them is (removing stealth, hard countering dd's giving them the choice of surviving by becoming useless ot their teams or dying, generally being able to farm damage from safety, etc etc). Anyone actually defending them is probably just cynical enough to defend their farm machines without caring too much on the negative impact on the game this class has, which tbh is quite substantial. I mean, it's functionally similar to claiming that Smolensk is fine, learn to play against it. There is a grain of truth there - I rarely have issues with them myself, I own one, understand it's limitations, and play in a way that I can either blap them or deny them from spamming me too much when I see them on the enemy team. The fact that there are options available to me when I play against them (more options than I get against CV's, mind you) doesn't mean the ship isn't broken; something that has downright silly levels of DPM that has light shells with magical range shouldn't be overpen city. Now, removal or fixing it? I made some suggestions that would possibly make the situation a bit better (remove rocket planes, reduce DD detection from air, stuff like that), though knowing WG's amazing balancing skills I'd honestly rather see the whole class nuked. I know it won't happen, though, so I do hope they do something to put tabasco in this turd sandwich, as it were. If the class becomes less of a DD hard counter by requiring more skill to go after them, this will already improve the situation drastically.

Why is tier 9 so much more fun than tier 10?

A part of the reason is that you're almost always top tier in t9 these days. Tried playing t7 recently? How many times did you end up in t9 games? Exactly. Another reason, of course, is that you don't seem to own a Thunderer

Poll - CV, yes or no?

The one defining feature of CV's is being annoying. Had a 1800 basexp Venezia defeat yesterday because I couldn't "just dodge" the rockets near the end. Enemy Audacious simply moved behind an island after losing 2/3 of his hp to my two salvos, then just farmed me with rockets as I was low at that point. Absolutely nothing I could do. Did he play particularly well, and deserve the win? Hardly, he had less basexp than I did on a defeat in that game. The issue is they still put you in a no counterplay position far too often. Basic differences between RTS and this.. RTS: - much higher skill floor, making CV's less popular and more rare, but far more cancerous when you got them in that they had far more carry potential (a good enemy CV and a potato on your team meant instant defeat, may as well not bother - this was extremely annoying). Dropping smaller ships like DD's took skill so potato DD's wouldn't bother and went for BB's instead. Rework: - much lower skill floor, with a bit less influence on the match overall than RTS (though a unicum Haku, good luck winning against that, still I'd say that player could probably carry more consistently in RTS). Far more popular due to the fact even a potato can spam a DD with rockets easily and feel like he's actually good. So our choice is, something incredibly unbalanced and unfair that's kind of rare, or something slightly less cancerous but far more common. Call this a radical idea, but neither of these options are actually good. Now, maybe the current system could be saved with the removal of rocket planes - if you have enough skill to land bombs or torps on DD's, all the power to you (with possible adjustments to bomb / torp damage output, but that would need to be tested properly), but it should actually take skill. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the entire class removed, but as it is, I find myself playing DD's less and less - and I absolutely love DD's. CV's in almost every game are just far too annoying and remove stealth and, for me, fun.

Um... what? This doesn't make much sense on several levels. First of all, the duration of coop battles hasn't been changed in any way, they have always been shorter, mainly because bots yolo forward and are all dead fairly quickly. Secondly, it doesn't matter. While coop battles are great for knocking off snowflakes due to their short duration and basically 100% WR in them, good luck getting the necessary amount of xp / base xp / fxp / commander xp / credits required in later directives. I generally average just over 400 base xp in a coop battle - sometimes more but it requires you to be spawned in the right place so you can farm more bots, as they end quickly. Meanwhile I'll get around 2k for a similar performance (damage/kills/win) in randoms. Coop is literally the worst possible mode to try and farm those directives in. The duration of said battles doesn't really play much of a factor here.

See, I understand what they mean by this event being for everyone. First, it's for people with health issues. Now, say you don't have health issues, and go grind the PR. By the end of the event, you will be having health issues (being blind and crippled, with the doctors having to surgically remove your chair from you are things I'd call health issues). So truly, an event for everyone.

I seem to recall someone having a similar problem and it turned out they made a metric crapton of individual purchases (as in, kept buying single lootboxes hoping the next one drops something they want). As I remember, there is a limited amount of purchases the store lets you do daily, and if you go over it locks you from buying anything for (I think) a week. Some automatic anti-fraud measure I imagine. Have you by any chance made a lot of smaller purchases in rapid succession recently?

    What do you thing?

Which is why they feel confident enough to screw with the community. All I can say is I hope the community bites back. Wallets closed, people.
  21. This whole event is very convenient. "Oh you need t10's to get some later directives, and you don't have any? No problem, you need to grind so hard you'll have many lines at t10 by the time you're done." Similarly: "Oh this is an event for people with health issues, but you're healthy? Worry not, because if you try to grind the PR for free you'll have plenty of health issues, ranging from mental to physical..."

Please don't buy the Puerto Rico

Do what I do and actually enjoy the dockyard! It looks rather nice, especially with some musical background. I find Offspirng works particularly well. Nothing like looking at it and singing "..I won't pay I won't pay-ya No waaaaay..."
  23. Captain_Newman

A sad story of the designers at WG

Game designers and artists did a great job with the dockyard. Too bad they don't run the company. Ferengi do.

Have you won Missouri, Musashi, Benham or Belfast in any crate??

If I were to somehow get the amount of luck required to drop one of these ships, I'd much rather spend it on winning the lottery... Have you seen a bunch of people posting screenshots of their belfast, kutuzov, kami, missouri, musashi drops? Exactly.

Premium account for tier 8 ships?

There's your problem, then. Not running premium consumables will result in worse games. Worse games give you less credits. It's a really bad idea, just as running with no upgrades or camo is a bad idea. Just don't do it. If you're really hurting for money, you can sometimes get away with running some stock consumables, but on the chappy I'd run all 3 of them premium. Premium damage control is a must on all ships, it will help you survive when you otherwise would have died. The ability to fix your rudder or engine, or get rid of a fire when you're low can be the difference between you surviving or not. At the very least, the difference between a good or meh game, but sometimes the difference between winning or losing. On the chappy you also get to choose between defAA and hydro (honestly, with the defAA nerfs you might consider going hydro), here maaybe you can get away with stock, especially if you go defAA, but radar? Definitely run premium. Shorter cooldown and an additional radar charge will result in more enemy DD's being killed or damaged/driven off, which will have a direct effect on your win rate and in-game score. Just.. don't run pleb consumables, please. It may seem like you're saving money in some games, but long term you will be at a loss. And so will your teams be as well.
