any news on when smolensk is being nerfed

Considering that there's been more threads about this than Smolensk can put out shells in 1 battle, it's not hard to predict what moderators will do with this one. In short, it's russian, there are potatoes that still get like 25k average on it so WG will think it's balanced and leave it. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to remove her from the armory entirely and maker her only obtainable from lootboxes - these removed OP ships serve as fantastic lootbox sale boosters.

HE shells for British Light Cruisers

Everyone and their grandmother is complaining about smolensk... ...and now you want a whole line of high dpm smoke cruisers to get HE? Seems like a bad plan to me. There's so much HE spam already... Besides, it's not like anything past Emerald, Leander and up, has any trouble dealing damage. Mino is a dpm monster - remember, this isn't regular AP, this one has very forgiving pen angles and you can rack up lots of damage on bb's fairly quickly. I agree that some of the low tier ones are quite bad - up to t5 these cruisers could use some help, but there's other ways of doing that than giving them HE.

SAP fake tales about ricochet angles

Because other cruisers use HE. Italian cruisers do require an adjustment to your aim - go for superstructures on anything with armor. Starting with Amalfi you can get 10k+ salvos on BB's more often, it becomes common on Brindisi and Venezia.
  4. Me too, was just outlining a pure secondary build, ofc those are mostly for derpfests and not necessarily the best.
  5. Nah, german secondary HE shells already get the improved german pen, IFHE would improve this a bit but I highly doubt it's worth the 4 points. I'd go PT-EM-BFT-AFT-ManSec-SI-AR on a full german secondary build, probably. Some skills on that german captain aren't optimal.. direction center for example, not that useful and won't save you from a CV, especially in the derpy state the fighter consumable is atm.

What to do with the Mighty Jingles commander (poll)

Ikr? I just wish they included specific examples of his funny slipups in his videos. Like, "we sunk a british t6 premium cruiser Leander!"

What to do with the Mighty Jingles commander (poll)

I'm keeping my Jingles in reserves, ashore, he's currently going through an intensive ship recognition course. Progress is.. slow. But I remain hopeful.

Is this correct - Shim Vrs Conqueror

Very consistent guns with AP that is usable on BB's and cruisers alike, with additional overmatch. Not necessarily strongest, as it's not russian, but it's damn close to being the best and is definitely fun in randoms. For CB.. time will tell. The guns are definitely a threat at long range due to accuracy, but it does lose on tank pretty severely compared to the Kremlin where taking one down is more of summer project.

It's pretty nice, and I like that it's no longer tard proof, you actually need to angle and position carefully. It's just that the Thunderer kind of stole the show, there, so I've been playing more of that than the Conq recently..

    Italian aircraft carrier? Aquila!

Give it SAP bombs and rockets, because DD's aren't hard countered enough as it is. Basically make it a flying Venezia, I'm a big fan of going all the way when being ridiculous. Normally I'd find this an interesting suggestion, particularly from the naval history argument side, even though this CV wouldn't have really worked properly based on post-war investigations that concluded landing aircraft back on it would be nigh-impossible, but the issue is really that CV's are a highly problematic and prevalent class now, thanks to the questionable CV rework, and adding additional premium ones isn't going to help this. If they actually did something about spotting DD's and rocket planes just being easy DD farming mode, I'd find this to be an interesting ship to be added. And yea, the idea of an italian CV is not incredible to anyone who loves naval history, we know about the Aquila :

    Charity Event Coal Milestone

I know someone who voted for RP.. and because he's normally a pretty cool guy I restrained myself from buying a plane ticket so I can hit him over the head with a shovel and listened to his argument, which kind of made sense. Basically, he believes, probably correctly, that Hayate will be mediocre, so he'd rather have her put in for RB so the potentially more interesting future ships aren't locked behind regrinding lines. They usually don't do multiple reward ships for the same resources one after another. I stopped looking at cheap flights online and put the shovel back in the basement when he told me this. I mean, I still voted coal, but I don't think he made a dumb argument there.

This Years Christmas Presents are a Ripoff ?

Had a bunch of dubloons to burn, and had luck with additional doubloon drops from crates too, which I just dumped into megaboxes.. drops of note: - Belfast - Enterprise normal t8: Gascogne, Roma, Le Terrible Some t7. The t6 drops blotted out the sun. And then Yahagi, Hill and Siroco at t5. Overall, I guess I took your rng this year, guys. Sorry.

And it has the stealth to drop off, go dark, heal up, then reengage. This is why it's a good idea to focus them down when they get low, before they can do that. They can be a nice damage farm, though.

The option "pull him out" sounds way too funny to ignore. Yes, I'm being infantile atm. No, I don't care. We're talking about Jingles, after all

And allowing them even quicker and easier access to t10, where the opposition is much more powerful, and is using radars, hydro, ap bombs, smolensk spam, benham torp soup, stalingrad balans shells, etc will make their experience better how, exactly? Yea, CV seal clubbers are a problem at low tier (and remain so up to t10 in different ways). This is a problem of wg's making, as is making t10, albeit temporarily, available for money - but I've been hearing for years the argument of "oh what does it matter, teams can't possibly get any worse", yet it keeps happening. I have never seen this many extremely poor players at high tier as this holiday season. People literally manage to die in the first 3 min in GK's and Kremlins, never mind DD's. These people should have spent more time learning all classes and getting to understand the basic mechanics at low and mid tiers, before being thrown into even more advanced mechanics, facing more powerful enemies at high tiers. They would have more fun, and their teams sure would as well. All this is going to do is burn them out of the game fast while annoying their team mates. What's wrong with having some progression through tiers, anyway? Going through a good line that you enjoy can be a lot of fun. I mean, first you say that low tiers are punishing (lol) and then your solution is to just let them skip to smolensk, benhams, hakus, enterprise farming them (omegalul). But yea, I'm sure it's just me not seeing the big picture, so I guess it's fortunate we have you with your 1k battles at 49% to educate us.

On the contrary, I enjoy all tiers. I also see what a fairly forgiving economy is doing to high tier gameplay in particular, and don't particularly want to see it made worse. With respect, I think 10k random battles is a somewhat better sample size than 66, as the lack of gameplay quality issue is primarily tied to random games and not really felt in coop all that much.

    [RESULTS] Double Recruitment Points

I have done this, back when I started this account years ago, it was easy and fast to get to t10, and I'm not sure why should new players have it any easier. I mean, if your claim is that it's hard to get to t10, then I have to ask if you ever played any other games of this type in your life? This is literally one of the most forgiving ones out there. When I got my first t10 I was quite bad in it, and just being on my team meant that team was less likely to have a fun game resulting with a win. Economy is, in fact, fairly forgiving, and I see players with a low amount of battles in t10 all the time, and none of them are even below average, they're all quite bad. It's not their fault, there's a learning curve to this game, and it's simply not possible to be good in t10 when you only have like 200-300 battles, most of which aren't in high tiers. So no, I'm not sitting on any high horse, but the amount of battles I do have gives me perspective a new player won't have, perspective on what t10 matchmaking is like, and there is absolutely no call nor reason to make it any worse by giving new players even easier access to it than it already is. The temporary wallet shortcut called the Puerto Rico is bad enough. Also, I work for a living, and even if I sat on my behind all day doing nothing I still wouldn't reroll, as it proves nothing. All your suggestion would do is allow hordes of new players to very quickly grind to t10, then most of them would get bored and leave the game before grinding a second line after ruining a bunch of other player's games. In turn, veteran players get tired of getting these bad teams and leave. To me, it seems like a bad idea to exacerbate this problem further. One last thing, I've politely laid out my points without being insulting towards you, something you can't exactly claim after all the "high horse" and egoism comments. The ability to debate and/or disagree with someone without that stuff would be a great skill to add to your resume, and would have uses far wider than on a forum about a computer game. It would also help people actually take you seriously. I would also advise you to look up the meaning of words such as "ego", "egoism", and "egotistic" before trying to use them (the word you were probably looking for is "selfish", not "egotistic", they have different meanings, and I still disagree with the point you were making). Just a thought.

    [RESULTS] Double Recruitment Points

No. Economy is way too forgiving already and it's fairly quick and easy for people to fail all the way to t10 with a low amount of battles. If anything, they need to spend more time learning the mechanics at low and mid tiers, unless you like having t10 team mates that play like they literally installed 5 min ago for the first time. I'm also not about to compromise my friendships by spamming people with ads just so I can score some free loot. Attracting players is WG's job and these mechanics that seek to make players do it for them are annoying and best left ignored.

    H-44 project

There is a point where a ship becomes so big and clumsy it's not just hard to deal with, it's unplayable. This sounds like that to me. Please no t11/12, and we've had enough ridiculous fantasy ships already. Not pointing my finger towards any nation's lines in particular, as it would be unfair to russians.

    20 large santas gifts...

Um, what? First of all, Le Terrible isn't terrible. Not if you can play french DD's and there isn't a unicum CV on the enemy team, in which case check with WG's spreadsheet to make sure you just had fun. But most of the time a good player should be able to make her work just fine. Secondly, WG published a list of ships that can come out of the lootboxes, it's one of the few things they were actually transparent about this patch - which one you get is down to luck, so "what goes around comes around" is a silly statement to make, especially when referring to what is probably one of the richest game development companies in the world. It's not like someone sitting in a WG office tweaked your lootbox personally so you get a Le Terrible (btw, be glad it wasn't a Marblehead) while twirling their mustache and doing an evil laugh.. The only thing to "come back around" to them is money, lots of it. I would suggest you adopt a "when life gives you lemons" mentality, realizing that lemons are actually nice, and the LeTerrible can be nice, too - learn to make her work for you rather than complain about your t8 ship drop when the OP here got nothing after 20 boxes and would probably gladly trade places with you.

    Borodino T8 USSR BB

Don't get me started. 3 min in my 2 GK's are both dead to torpedoes. How the hell do you lose a bb with that health pool and hydro to torps in 3 min flat? Enemy DD's have probably barely reloaded their second salvo by this time. And I had this happen twice just yesterday. A dog rolling on the keyboard with two cats fighting for the mouse would perform better than these teams. Roflstomp meta all the way. But hey apparently they just play for fun, and getting wiped in 3 min is fun.
  22. Captain_Newman

    Guinio Bruto

That's pretty much what I'm getting at. I watched an old Flamu video a few days ago, from way back when the Belfast was still a test ship about to be introduced, when Flamu was commenting "this is so broken, I'm not sure what WG is thinking here". It's far more obvious now. I wouldn't be surprised if Smolensk gets the same treatment.
  23. Captain_Newman

    Guinio Bruto

There is none. Well, technically, sometimes they give away these rare OP ships on official streams and they give out a limited amount, like they did for the charity stream a few days ago - but when they give out like 2-3 Missouris when there's thousands of players trying to get it, I wouldn't exactly call this option viable for anyone but the luckiest few. Short of that, boosting lootbox sales is the primary reason for removing OP ships from the store, so I don't see it returning any more than the Belfast, Kutu or Kami will - these ships serve as a great incentive for people to "just get a few more boxes" to try and get that vaunted rare ship they set their eyes on. Also, when they test a different variant of a ship, or are considering changing it's tier, they commonly make a copy of that ship with a different name for testing purposes only. Those ships are never meant to hit the stores, they are just testbeds. Ofc, it's possible they might make a premium t6 variant of the GC some day, but there is no way to know unless you happen to work for WG.
