Yea he was just below 2km from me. AA on it really isn't anything a CV should fear or avoid.

I had an opportunity to test out Yubari's glorious new AA a few days ago. Stuck close to a div mate to provide AA. When the Hosho came for him with torp bombers, I popped defensive and reinforced the sector. The CV proceeded to drop my div mate twice, all in the reinforced sector covered by def AA. I shot down 1 plane. At this point Yubari's AA is so bad I don't think it belongs on that list anymore, literally any t4 bb will shoot down more planes.

You can't judge any ship in this game based on it's stock performance, they are all bad before the upgrades. Yes, it does get a lot better when upgraded.

TEAM KILLING PAYS! (according to Wargaming)
Captain_Newman replied to zeeschuimer's topic in General Discussion
He probably went pink after the battle. -
The issue became about 10 times worse for me today. I came back from the office a little over an hour ago and had lunch, then ran the game. Already disconnected 3 times.

wtf is going on with the people on this game?
Captain_Newman replied to Dukewerth1's topic in General Discussion
Or "target is a squishy broadside cruiser, yes, but I'll still use HE because I need fires / fire damage for directives". We've been complaining about missions of this type having a negative impact on gameplay for years. WG doesn't care. It's not an issue as long as the balance is fine. Their bank balance, that is. -
Why do CVs have only tier 4,6,8 and 10?
Captain_Newman replied to BarskiPatzow's topic in General Discussion
They did mention the idea of using the t5,7 and 9 CV's as "support carriers" down the line, with planes having team support utilities such as dropping smoke etc. I really hope they gave up on that notion. -
I've had the same "this is on your end, talk to your ISP" conversation with support. And again, the dc's started with this latest patch, and only affect wows related stuff - my internet works fine during the outages (discord, other websites) but wows and wows-related websites remain inaccessible. Look, we're just players, WG, it's really up to you to investigate this properly. Presumably, you have trained professionals that are paid to deal with this stuff? Because I'm not. I know, I checked my bank account. It's kind of hard to believe it's on our end when everything was fine before the patch and all other games and websites work just fine. Something changed with this patch that affected certain countries (France and Balkans area from the sounds of things).

WG clearly dont get role of CV in naval warfare
Captain_Newman replied to _Conan_Librarian_'s topic in General Discussion
Rocket planes are indeed problematic, but historical realism has nothing to do with the reason why, nor is it a good argument to discuss anything wows related. As has been said many times, this game isn't a realistic sim, nor is it trying to one. It's a naval themed pvp team shooter. And in order for it to be fun for anyone other than CV's, I do feel they need to do something with rocket planes. Either remove them outright and give all CV's a choice between ap and he bombs, thus rewarding good aim on DD's but removing the ability to hit them so easily, or at least make the rocket planes on everything closer to what the Kaga has (as in, once the attack run has started, it's very difficult to turn and adjust aim, which does give the DD some chance at counterplay). -
You can typically see who posted what by their username to the left of the post. /s Juking shells by sometimes being almost stationary, and then quickly accelerating, or going fast and killing speed quickly is a common tactic on the Henri. It's one of those ships where I consider acceleration more important than torp speed. If WG disagreed with this notion, they'd have gone after it's speed, not acceleration.

Good idea. Another one I've had (and I realize this is going slightly off-topic, apologies for that) is combining two concepts - campaigns and operations. Basically, you get a team and need to complete a series of inter-connected operations - one leading to the next, and so on, with progress reset if you have 0 stars at any point. Might be fun, but I don't see it happening in the current climate where the operations are almost dead. I wouldn't mind having some actually interesting coop PvE content developed to kick back and relax with clan mates on those bad MM days.

Yoshino vs Puerto Rico who wins?
Captain_Newman replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
9h, ouch. I will be executing a tactical retreat from the office in 4 and a half hours. -
For Henri, acceleration / deceleration are more important than any of those things. It's literally it's main tool.
-
Flow charts. Is it Russian? Yes: it's fine. If community whines too hard, apply an inconsequential placebo nerf nobody asked for. No: nuke it.

Yoshino vs Puerto Rico who wins?
Captain_Newman replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
In ww1 they created a nice repository of non-contaminated, pre-nuclear world steel for use in the construction of medical instruments.. which is probably the most constructive use of weapons of war, like, ever. So they've got that going for them... -
Amazing comment. By your logic, let's nerf everything into the ground. Adapt or gtfo. Don't play it if you don't like it. Henri's ability to quickly accelerate or decelerate - throttle dodge - is it's main tool it uses to survive. It's kind of it's thing. This nerf, depending on how severe it is, has a good chance of removing it's identity. All so SE Yamatos have an easier time hitting it? Meh. Personally I'd rather not have to adapt to bad changes, and I'd rather keep playing a ship I liked so far.

Yes, they're all their evergreens from the good old "Fun and Engaging" album that detonated all the top 10 charts.

2 days ago I thought it was fixed as I didn't have a single disconnect that day. Ofc, it came back. Here's the funny part: when the ping hits -35, I can still see what's going on for almost a full minute. Yesterday I disconnected just as I launched a set of torps from my Kidd. Luckily I also just smoked up and was in partial cover too. I launched the torps, got spotted, but the enemy dd was being spotted by planes as well so I smoked up to spam him, and noticed I can't fire, which made it all the more fortunate that I saw him use his torps a few seconds earlier, so I was safe in that smoke from being torped. Ping, ofc, -35. However I was still able to see the ships manuever, the enemy Richelieu and Prinz Eugen try to dodge my torps and still eat them, and only then I disconnected. The usual stuff - internet works fine, I'm still able to talk to my div mates on discord, I can access any web site except wows ones (forum, main wg wows page don't work), and when I see the site's back I can hit reconnect and wait longer than it would take to get into the battle for the first time to get back in. I'm starting to think this is some kind of a bug in their net code and not necessarily a server issue, but I'm not exactly an expert in this topic.

Coming Soon... ...from the people who brought you the very gentle YY nerf, the CV rework, NTC, PR and many other smash hits... ... the voice of reason. And for their next trick, they will cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with.. a herring!

Complete the Puerto Rico for 35 000 coins.
Captain_Newman replied to Hannibalurg's topic in General Discussion
Paying 200€ for a single unit in a single game - for this price you can get 4 non-discounted new AAA games - seems anything but fair to me, but I guess whatever people are willing to pay, eh? This is overpriced to extremes in my opinion, and we'd all be better off if people just said no, so they're forced to give more realistic prices. This is insane. -
Complete the Puerto Rico for 35 000 coins.

Have you been sleeping through holidays? The whole PR event has been one huge rage fest of the community because of the way it was monetized. -
Yoshino vs Puerto Rico who wins?
Captain_Newman replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
Your question is kind of wrong to begin with. Why would Yoshino ever brawl? It's a long distance kiter - it even has a 20km range option on the torps. It's armor scheme isn't really great for brawling, either. Guns are great for medium to long range engagements, though. Each ship should be played to it's strengths. Overall, if the Yoshi plays to it's strenghts it will likely spam the PR to death from range, as long as the owner can kite properly. Closer range it's a tossup, the torps are very dangerous to the PR and they do hit hard, but the Yoshino will need to land several to deplete the PR's health pool. In order to do that, it needs to give broadside at close range to 12 305's with improved pen angles and great damage. It's not exactly an ideal situation. -
Are the designers/balance team really this (edited!)
Captain_Newman replied to Sub_Littoral's topic in General Discussion
Came across this classy gentleman recently. His total battle count was 8k battles. Totally nothing wrong with this picture.. /s Good job, WG. 11/10.
