I suspect the main reason for there being a distinction between premium ships is to create a loophole around the fact they said they'd never sell high tier (t9 and 10) premiums. Selling t9 premiums that aren't premiums but reward ships - this barrier has already been broken, and we're now firmly in the t10 territory with PR leading the way.

I think he's mostly peeved at the PR not having a prem ship's economy.

What baffles me is that they have a really good proof of concept in the form of Friesland - the torpless DD ended up working just fine. Instead they go with silly 15km low damage torps and radars, exactly what the game doesn't need. But, they have a history of making these silly decisions - back in the day everyone was excited for RN BB's after seeing the warspite, so ofc they made them nothing like the warspite and released a line of he spamming bb's instead. No idea why wg does what it does in this respect.

You're quite correct in that this is what you get when you balance the ship around "average" players, though. (I use quotation marks because this player base is defying the definition of the word average as I understand it) Personally, I think that dpm works if it's citadeled more easily. I'd be fine with it if the Smol was Mino levels of easy to cit, instead of being an overpen spunge.

Low tier seal clubbers in their Hoshos, Kamikazes, Giulios etc want a word. There is nothing balanced about low tier. It's arguably a worse issue than OP ships in high tier, as seal clubbers can easily turn new players away, which is bad for the game. In addition, I would advise to ditch the "it's all op premium / bad team's fault" mind set, it's the best way to never improve. There's plenty of ships people call OP that can be countered easily if you know how. I mean, I once had a shima call me a seal clubber in a bs OP ship - because I torped him. I was in a Khaba. Don't be that guy.

Alsace's role is to be grinded through on your way to Republique. Jean Bart's role is to actually be played and have fun with in that tier.

This is exactly why they occasionally have these broken premiums that get removed in short order, followed by a veritable armada of mediocre ones whose numbers blot out the sun. These op prems aren't there because of some mistake in balancing, they are there to boost loot box sales. I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to stay in business just on the profit of christmas boxes alone...

Which is, honestly, good news for me. See, I never bought a single booster, and I couldn't be bothered to do the grind you did, so I finished phase 30. That means the game is now offering to finish it for 15k dubs. Now, 15k is much cheaper than what was it.. 59k? Or something? But it's still like, 50€. Now, if the ship was good I might have given in to temptation, so I guess it's fortunate it's not, eh?

There's no difference between potato DD players and potato players in other classes. In most cases, they're the same people, let's not pretend that people only play and suck in one class They just tend to die faster in DD's as the class is unforgiving - WG adding more and more counters isn't helping things either. Hey, with all the radar, hydro and CV's around, let's make a line of cruisers with specialized anti-DD ammo! In order to just survive in a DD in a way that doesn't involve parking behind your CV, you need to have a solid grasp of game mechanics; spotting, torpedo, radar ranges. Understand how spotting works and what your role is in it. How to play when there's radars in play. Where to go to prevent lemming trains and a flank collapsing. It goes on and on... this knowledge is important for all classes, but failing to have it in a DD usually results in that famous "2 min in, all my DD's are dead" thing. So, the problem is two-fold; first, the class being unforgiving means that your average potato that would have died mid-match in something else will be dead in the first 2 min in a DD. Secondly, when all your DD's die in the first 2-3 min, you notice their loss more than you do losing a SE Tirpitz - without your DD's the game is most likely lost now.

Any ship can perform in the right hands, in the right MM, and on the map that happens to suit it. The difference between a good and a bad ship is that good ships care less about all that stuff and reliably perform in the right hands regardless of map and uptiering. So, I can't agree that there's no such thing as a bad ship in general, in the sense of "selecting this gives less chance of being able to contribute positively and substantially to my team's chance of success than selecting another ship". There's definitely bad, good, OP and russian ships in this game As for the Lion, it's been ages since I played it, I remember not liking it back then. Technically it has the same sigma and dispersion as the Conq, but I guess it's the fact Conq gets another turret that makes the guns that much more reliable? Not sure. I just remember there being a huge difference between the two. It's not the worst ship I've ever played, but it's far from being good or enjoyable tbh.

Just had a DC late game when I was about to farm the CV that really had it coming. Switching to VPN so I can pretend I'm from Finland does appear to fix it (I forgot to turn it on for this battle). So, certain countries get these short outages multiple times a day, and during these outages everything works except wows and wg websites / forums etc. Tell us again how this is on our end, please. Say it in french, it's more romantic that way. edit: I'm also very fond of the fact that sometimes, when I try to reconnect, the game tells me that my own username is already taken and I should select a new one, here are some suggestions. Then I need to restart the entire client. Totally want you want to be doing mid-battle...
