    ★AA exploit! Sector reinforcement sniping☆

I thought that was tested already? Pretty sure there was an official explanation coming direct from WG about this having been tested, and because of the many islands in most maps, it made the radar almost completely worthless... Not exactly sure where I read it now, but I do remember it quite clearly.

Because you pen 50mm with IFHE... check their armor... nobody is talking about penning Moskva or Stalingrad cits with HE... I guess you're not familiar with the competitive meta of IFHE Henri, precisely because it could do direct pen damage to bow in Stalingrads and Moskvas (incidentally, the primary reason it was nerfed so hard, as it was almost a must have in any CB comp). Without IFHE, you will shatter on bow-in targets like that, and have to rely on good fire RNG to deal damage to them (which isn't that great of an idea on low dpm cruisers, you have to get very lucky).

so i got this devonshire cruiser

So, you tried the ship with all upgrades mounted, then? B hull, range? It's clear in the thread you played her with at least the stock range, if not stock hull, and based your negative opinion on that. What isn't clear is if you fixed that mistake and tried her out fully upgraded.

Anyone else disappointed by the Swedi... Pan-EU DD line

There's also plenty of people from all those countries playing the game, though, enough to have a market for them. Regardless, it's fine, more lines will come.

@Barracuda_111 you appear to have ignored posts that pointed out that you played the ship stock, as in, you forgot to mount the upgrades (B hull, range) the ship does come with, but you do have to mount them yourself. Opinion of a ship based on a stock ship isn't exactly something I'd call relevant. My own experiences with this line so far is that they're fairly reliable workhorses, nothing shiny or fancy or too gimmicky there, they just work. You get plenty of tanking ability for a cruiser, decent guns (if AP is a bit on the underwhelming side, but still, decent guns overall), fairly good torps. I've played up to Surrey and while the line didn't wow me, it's pretty ok. If you think it's not for you, that's fair enough, but I'd recommend basing that opinion on a ship with full upgrades mounted, at least. Playstyle wise, I'd recommend kiting at mid ranges looking for opportunities to push. You might be tanky for a cruiser, but still, leading a push (as in, being the first ship that is targeted and focused) is a bad idea - think of yourself as push support. If a push is happening on your flank, you push with, closer than you would with other cruisers thanks to the extra tank you have. In some of those screenshots you present yourself as essentially the only / closest spotted target to multiple enemy ships, which isn't ideal for a cruiser, especially one that can't dodge that well.

It also helps with bow-in Moskvas and Stalingrads, etc. Same reason why IFHE Henri was popular, and tbh I'm finding these RN CA's fairly light in terms of captain points needed to make them work, so why not... plus, being able to damage RU BB's effectively is very valuable given how many of them there are, and how long it takes to bring one down if it's angling properly.

    Shokaku VS Kaga

Listen to @El2aZeR, if there's someone who knows what he's talking about in anything CV related, it's him. Also, if you look at who downvoted his post above.. any post downvoted by this person can be taken as absolute truth At 43% WR + low amount of battles, it isn't too late to start saving that account, but you need to avoid the mistake most new / inexperienced players do and NOT jump to high tier premiums fast. Stick to low tiers, progress to mediums when you're confident you've improved and can carry your way around them, eventually to high. I'd also like to add that, in my opinion, it's better to learn the basics on the other 3 classes first before going the route of CV's, you will learn how the game works better and faster. The CV class plays nothing like the other 3, and you won't learn stuff like who has radar, what is the range, torpedo ranges, basically specifics of ships that won't directly affect you, but they do affect the outcome of the battle which should influence your decision making process, such as target selection. The best way to understand how to counter specific ships is to play them. Kaga especially is a bad choice as it will teach a lot of bad habits due to the rapidly respawning desposable planes. You'll develop a "don't care about losses" playstyle which will be punished on other CV's. Just don't, please.

I was thinking about that too (only played up to the Surrey so far, though, so no access to the 234's yet). IFHE 234's should be interesting for the same reason it was used on Henri's 240's... crossing the 50mm treshold (comfortably, I might add) is definitely useful.

Anyone else disappointed by the Swedi... Pan-EU DD line

I don't particularly care, to be honest, it seems like an interesting line regardless of it being 90% Ikea. At first I was a bit disappointed that the new DD's don't follow the design example of Friesland - the torpless DD proved to be quite effective while being unique in playstyle, but having seem streamers play the new boats, I'd say they offer some unique gameplay themselves. We'll see how it goes, as always.

Why do I get camos for ships I don't have?

It is. My point was that the relation between the ships is the same (as in, WG's design approach on how to change it from the original) - both ships take the original's hull, then trade the ship's unique feature (smoke on Kutu, vs. MBRB + Speed boost on CM) for DWT's + torpedo reload booster. Irian is still a smokeless Kutu, and even without that smoke I'd say it's a superior ship.
  12. Captain_Newman

Why do I get camos for ships I don't have?

Pretty much. Irian is to the Kutuzov what the Wukong is to the Charles Martel. Excep the Irian gets the 13.5 km torps to the Wukong's 12km ones, and is a light cruiser instead of a heavy one (Kutuzov 152's vs. the CM's 203's).

The ship OP was talking about, it's the Irian.

    Bajie 101 Thread.

I dropped the Bajie from a container. Gameplay wise, it's ok - nothing special. Won't wow you like a Georgia or JB would, but it's a pretty decent ship. That camo, though. Am I the only one thinking that's actually one really good looking ship? I mean, yes, I like historically accurate looks too, but on a pan asian BB (?) commanded by a mythical man-pig creature, I'm willing to let it go

Why do I get camos for ships I don't have?

Going slightly offtopic, but OP - in case you were curious what the camo actually looks like on the ship, here it is:

    Georgia's sigma

This is the case with all t9 freemiums, t10 wasn't intended as a money making tier.. well, it was for IRL money for WG, as evidenced by the Puerto Rico, but not for grinding in-game cash t9 freemiums are the best money printers in the game. Except Missouri, which is even better
  17. Captain_Newman

Why no CVs in matches of tier 7 an above?

You might regret those words, OP, when an Enterprise appears, and slingshots past your AA with AP bombers and just nukes your Atlanta easily. Her AA is garbage now so he can do it even without slingshots.

    Disconnects

Your connection to WG isn't direct, but rather routed through a series of nodes. One or more of the nodes in the path have become troublesome and cause the dc's. By using VPN, you change the routing path, thereby bypassing the affected nodes. I'm not an IT expert either, so consider this a very basic, barebones explanation as I understood it. tl;dr pretending to be in Finland appears to have fixed, or rather bypassed the problem for me.
  19. Captain_Newman

    Disconnects

It wasn't lag spikes for me, either, I straight up had several disconnects each day. Every time it happens, my internet is fine, everything works expect the game and WG websites, and that lasts for a few min - just enough to ruin the battle you were in, usually. Using VPN traded the disconnects for the occasional lag spike, where sometimes (fairly rarely) I get a 2-3s period of atrocious ping and rubber banding, but after that things return to normal and I don't disconnect. YMMV.

    Main Battery Reload Booster, when?

What you can do to get around it is.. let's say your reload is 20s, for simplicity's sake, and it reduces gun reload by 50% when active, and your reload booster duration is 15s. Now, if you fire, pop it immediately, you will get another salvo off in 10s, and the 5s rest will be wasted. In effect, you get one 50% faster reloaded salvo out of it this way. However, if you fire, let it reload normally for 10s, pop booster, you now have a salvo available in 5s, and another in 10s. Now you've had 1 salvo reloaded 25% faster, and another 50% faster. Though it's probably only worth thinking about on the JB and Bourg..

    Disconnects

If you can, try to use VPN. Other than the occasional lag spike, it largely fixed the disconnects for me. Pick one with a good trial plan and use that trial version to see if if helps.

    Main Battery Reload Booster, when?

It depends a bit on the ship you are in, and what situation you are in. In general, you need to develop an opportunistic mindset to use it right. French DD? Use it when: knife fighting enemy DD's, range is optimal, you know they can't go dark for at least the next 10-15s, nuke them, they're priority targets. Squishy broadside cruiser? Load AP, pop booster, line up those cits before it has a chance to angle. Neither of those two are happening, but you or someone else just made a BB use it's damagecon? Use booster, get fires. French cruiser? Again, if there's a DD spotted, you want to land more shells on it rather than less, either killing it or hurting it more, before it disappears. Squishy cruiser you can cit and is broadside, why not get more citadels? And again, once a bb pops damage con, use it to enhance your chance of fires by landing more HE shells. Jean Bart, sometimes I'll use it to switch to HE faster if I know I'll have shots on a DD in a few seconds. It's also great to maximize damage against broadside targets. A few days ago I ended up fighting 1 FdG, 2 Bismarcks and an Alaska mostly on my own in my JB. Lucky for me, their terrible positioning made it impossible for them to all engage me at the same time, allowing me to angle effectively, and their need to use all turrets and give full broadside meant I was able to make that gun booster sing.. several times (the engagement took a while, they'd take damage, dip behind islands, come back, etc). 286k that game, just because I happened to have that booster ready on a lot of enemy broadsides.

What is a "decent" winning %?

Granted, and I've seen wins, carries, and turnarounds of the most atrocious starts - that's usually possible when the enemy team decides to throw hard, making carry plays possible if there's anyone actually capable of doing that on the team. I guess I could have expressed myself more accurately - you don't know it's a loss for sure, but when you see like 5 of your team members going 9/10 line on North/Norther lights, or most of your team sailing behind A on Okinawa, you know your chances aren't great and the enemy team will have to do some heavy potatoing to actually lose. Which, to be fair, isn't that rare either.

ARP Ships on 31st January ?

There used to be no difference other than the anime skins. Now they turned them into premium ships, so there's more of a point to own them (mainly economic) if you don't hapeen to be a massive weeb anime fan. It's essentially a whole bunch of Kongos and Myokos with premium ship economy and no requirements for captain retraining on them.
