T8 Premium Gascogne
Captain_Newman replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
Gascogne was never a strong choice. Don't get me wrong, she's not as bad as some say, you can make her work if you understand the roaming bb style, but buying it outright? No. The only reason it should ever find itself in your port is because she dropped from a crate. If you are considering actually buying a t8 prem bb, the ones worth looking at are Massa, Lenin, and maybe Alabama. Roma can be fun when she's not being an overpen simulator, personally I would never buy a bb that's famous for trolling with dispersion, though. -
edit: accidental double post. Mods, feel free to quadruple cit and dev strike this post.

Taking WG's word at face value is a really, really good way to get disappointed. Has there been a news article on the website? No. Just a post from a CM about it being pulled so they can fix it. A few points: - it's fairly easy to just not return it given how little visibility this has been given, they can just say that they can't fix it easily and it would need to be rebuilt or something, and it's gone. - they keep repeating operations are not a priority and they have no plans on working on them. Suddenly they're super concerned about fixing Narai, that even with the bugs kinda works anyway? Or at least, concerned enough to put in what is apparently months worth of work hours into fixing something they clearly have no interest in even having in the game? - there is no actual reason to pull Narai while it's being fixed. - look at the amount of fxp sinks they're introducing; 2 additional fxp ships are being introduced soon, and everything to do with the Research Bureau is a fxp sink as well - so, additional RB-only ships, as well as legendary upgrades. - Narai is an easy way to farm fxp fast. If you're still inclined to trust WG, that's your prerogative, personally I trust them as far as I can throw them. My suggestion, if you like Narai, play it today because it may just be your last chance ever.

Did anyone receive the t2 premium cruiser Albany recently?
Captain_Newman posted a topic in General Discussion
I noticed it in my port two days ago, and I'm fairly sure I didn't own it before. Not sure how I got it - some kind of grindable mission, fortunate glitch? It's not really a big deal, just curious how this happened - did anyone else notice this thing just appear in your ports? -
There was a time when I considered russian bias a meme, given how many strong ships of other nations there are, but lately they've really gone off the deep end.. The stats on the new CL's are insane. They've lost the plot completely. I guess their CM's love a challenge, because the stuff they're being asked to peddle to the community is increasingly.. uhh.. out there.

Removing all ways of effectively farming credits, xp, fxp, elite xp in PvE can only make randoms a worse experience for everyone. PvE players need a game mode where they can farm stuff effectively, and everyone will be happier for it, both PvE and PvP players alike. Nobody wants team mates that don't really want to be there but are forced into it as it takes 50 million years to farm something in coop. But, it's fairly clear WG doesn't care about team quality being in constant freefall...

About those operations we are missing and a suggestion.
Captain_Newman replied to Otowi's topic in General Discussion
Does anyone actually believe it'll come back once it's removed? It's being taken down on short notice without an official announcement, expect them coming up with some excuse why it's not coming back a few months down the line. They don't want people farming fxp there, all issues with operations wouldn't be hard to fix for a developer of WG's resources, if they had an interest in doing so. They clearly don't, and the fact this is being removed quietly via the back door makes me think the chances of Narai actually returning fixed are slim to none.- 113 replies

Too much effort, it doesn't seem to go alongside the whole "automated consumables - nearly immune to fires - immune to detonations - AA nerfed, just strike anything" meta. Imagine actually having to predict where you should aim. That's for surface ships, not the master race.
-
Uh, I have a feeling that once it's removed we'll never see it again. They'll remove it, then say "this just doesn't work with the current AI anymore, we'd have to rework the whole operation, it's removed indefinitely" or some such. They just don't want people to farm fxp in there.. I hope I'm wrong, but it would be consistent with their attitude towards operations recently.

Wait, they're removing Narai?

This thread appears to have traveled in time from the past. See, what happened is, ita cruisers came out, people complained about SAP, it got some minor buffs, but still complained for a short while, then learned how to use it, now nobody thinks italian cruisers are bad anymore. Well, almost. You're just running a bit behind the curve, is all. Once you learn to use it, it's fine, especially t8 and up. I will grant you that t5-6 SAP ships are fairly bad, but you can get out of those tiers pretty fast.

Remember the "raif for the filth" event? Remember the consumable the Mutantovsk (Halloween version of Khaba) had? The one that instantly made it turn by 180? They should add this ability to all Enterprise squadrons, it's too weak. I mean, it's already close to that, but not quite there - needs a buff.

only for LENIN owners ( is this a BUG)
Captain_Newman replied to citaDELer's topic in General Discussion
Guns usually can't fire on target when they don't have firing angles. This is completely normal. Feel free to test it on other BB's. Angles will vary but bow on you generally don't get secondaries with firing angles. -
LOL russian cruisers split coming next
Captain_Newman replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
There's plenty of russian CV's, comrade. You just don't see them, because they're in orbit. Battlestar Stalinia is the best space carrier ever made, everyone knows that. -
I also like how they introduced 2 RN CA premiums with the RN CA line split. Glorious soviet cruiser split? 4 premiums inc. No bias, indeed Atm WG reminds me of a 12 year old Star Trek fan that is writing his own fan fiction, in which they captain their own ship which is more powerful than all the other ships seen so far combined by a factor of 2 billion %.

arp BB ..are they all the same????????????
Captain_Newman replied to citaDELer's topic in General Discussion
It's done for weebs that like that animated series where each ship is actually an anime girl character. Each of those ships is featured in the cartoon. #justweebstuff If you don't want them, sell, I don't think these will be in christmas boxes or SC's, though you might want to keep one of the kongos since they do have premium status now. -
Hang on, I thought the point was to get us to play _more_ mid tiers?
Captain_Newman replied to Uglesett's topic in General Discussion
For me, all that multiple CV's per team crap at mid tiers was a fairly good clue about being motivated to play them.. -

Must have been the steam thing then, thanks for the answer, I do remember now there was some reward for following, I just did it and instantly forgot about it Nice port queen, I guess, I do like the model. -

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Captain_Newman replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Had a really big meme of a game yesterday. Took a belfast out with a clan mate and another friend, who usually plays really well, but I'm fairly sure he was heavily inebriated yesterday. I took my Belfast out, division mates were in a Yorck and Haida (the drunk friend). Disgusting division, we should all report ourselves, should be an easy win, right? I go to a cap, a Leningrad and Nicholas smoke up in it without knowing I'm there. Oh, sweet summer child.. I push up, radar the Leningrad and remove it from existence. Nicholas decides to run, but comes back soon and I kill him too. Unfortunately, the enemy scores a lucky hit on me, so now I'm down to 3k health. Enemy Sinop is pushing straight into us, and I need to try and keep an island between us. Meanwhile my division mate in a Yorck is right at that island the Sinop is pushing around, and is prepping to give him some torps and duck around the island so he doesn't get blapped. He does score some torp hits, but as he retreats.. Too bad the inebriated div mate in the Haida torped his exit route So, one div mate kills the other, and I'm down to 3k health, and the team on the other side isn't doing so hot. It ended up as a win, I survived that battle with that 3k hp and got myself a kraken Seriously though, if ever any battle needed to be played to the Benny Hill theme, this was the one... -
It depends greatly on the MM, what kind of opposition you're facing, what your and the enemy team are doing, but one rule - whenever possible your team should try to hold both flanks. If you spawn with your BB on the right, help with the right flank. Ofc, if your entire team melts or runs away, you don't want to be the only ship there, you getting melted won't help anyone - but short of that, you should never abandon your flank. If you spawn mid, look at the map and decide which side could use your ship more. This is generally applicable to most maps and situations.
-
It is not. In my opinion, it's a downgrade. It's the sort of DD you could add hydro to and it'd still get torped, it's that clumsy. I'd rather have a turret less and be able to steer. Like others have said, if you want to play her, try to play her more like a cruiser. Personally I prefer to actually be in a cruiser, then.

Soviet radar planes when. Having to wait for smoke to expire so you can s**t on a DD is damned inconvenient and interrupts my flow, man.

British Cruisers: Obtain Cruiser London
Captain_Newman replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Normally I'm happy to get on WG's case when I think they're doing something wrong, I think they've done a lot of highly questionable things lately, the CV rework is the worst thing ever done to the game, the PR event was so scummy it would make a mob racketeer blush, their insisitence on the universally hated RB and sticking LU's in it, there's plenty to criticise them about. Having said that, in all honestly I don't think there's much to rage about this, at least until we see the directives, and I do expect them to be more on the scale of normal difficulty, and not the insanity that was the PR. If I'm right about that, even without having gotten lucky with the RN CA drops, you should be able to get the London and Cunningham for free, which isn't really something to complain about. Yes, it will take longer without the CA's having dropped in your port, and cost you more in credits, but overall, this should be doable for everyone. I might change my mind when I see the directives, but I really doubt they'll be the "you need to play 24/7 with a 100% wr for weeks while a nurse is keeping you hooked up to an IV and is monitoring your vitals" kind we saw for the PR.
