Please remove SCs from daily drops...

I’ve had several premium ships, premium time, steel etc drop from these daily SC’s. And I could do this simply by getting resource containers and occasionally getting a surprise SC. So, no, bad OP, back. Seriously, SC’s drop rarely enough for this to be a non issue, so can people stop asking WG to make things worse (reminds me of all the “pls remove snowflakes because I can’t be bothered to easily knock them off over a period of one month in coop”).

Well, she's pretty good at blapping smoked up Smolensks...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Azuma is good! People who hate on her just don't know how to position and kite. One dimensional and limited to one play style only, maybe, but when played well she can be quite effective. Good game btw.

    Tier 7-8 Premium Ship

Tier 6 is in t8 games more often than not these days, not to mention it's infested by CV's. I really can't recommend any t6 premiums as a result.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Today has been a day of infuriatingly bad teams. It was not a day where any kinds of smart plays or strategy works. So I decided to try some dumb plays, instead - and took out the king of dumb plays himself, the Paolo Emilio, aka "how to die in the first 4 min and still do 162k, double strike, top score and win".

Any new coal ships to be added soon?

Not sure what currency will Austin go for - probably not steel since Plymouth was just introduced, but anything is possible - fxp, coal, RP, even dockyard at some point. It is possible she’ll be your next coal ship.

    santa gifts?? law and WG

Let me guess, you weren’t running a business that sinks or swims by it’s profits when you were 6 (and btw someone probably had to buy the materials and/or tools you used to make it). My post should be interpreted in the context of the thread’s topic, unless you’re expecting WG to hand craft and mail us all free gifts. They’re a company that charges money for stuff in their store, santa gifts included. They even give a small amount for free. This shouldn’t be confusing.

    santa gifts?? law and WG

A gift always costs money, you either buy it for someone else, or to treat yourself. Let's say you decide to treat yourself, and buy yourself a Christmas gift of a PS5, then decide the store that sold it to you should be sued because it was a gift (maybe the store sold it under a "perfect christmas gift" title or something). Shall we sue all the stores that sell stuff that ends up being gifts on Christmas while we're at it as well? Or is it the fact that they named the lootboxes "Santa's gifts" that grinds your gears? I'm the first to pile on WG when thy do something scummy, and have done so plenty of times, but this thread is nonsensical. They run a business, and you want them to give you free stuff because the lootboxes are called Christmas gifts? I hate to break it to you, but Christmas is probably one of the most monetized events in the year, it's a huge business deal and WG is hardly alone in profiting on it. As for "WG have no right", I'd advise you to learn that there are different kinds of rights - moral, ethical, legal, etc. In this case, while the moral right might be up for debate, depending on individual sensibilities, they sell these lootboxes in countries where they have a legal right to do so (which is why you won't find them in Belgium). When you say things like "they have no right" you should do so with the understanding of why exactly do they have no right, and it should be something substantial, not just your gut feeling. If you want to criticise WG, there's plenty of material there, but you need to do it with a leg to stand on. This thread is just pure, 100%, unadulterated nonsense.

How to get better at this game?

When you get 3 defeats in a row, it’s best to take a break. I wish I’d followed this advice in the past, myself.

    Tier 7-8 Premium Ship

Since you haven't played any battles yet, I'd suggest first checking out some guides and videos made by experienced players, to get an idea if this is a game you'll even want to invest in. If the answer is yes and you feel you're getting the basics down and doing ok, then research what lines you want to grind, and if you want to invest some money, get premium time to help with xp and credits. Once you reach high tier and you learn to play in it better, then you can start thinking about what premium ship to get. Why not sooner, you might ask? For the following reasons: - you won't really know what kinds of ships you like and what might work for you or not until you've invested some time and effort into the game, and - there is no way a premium ship will be profitable for you if you just use it to jump into high tier with no prior experience. Remember, it's still possible to lose money even on premium ships if you don't perform - and you definitely won't if you skip ahead that way. Also worth remembering is that there's 11 other people on your team and now they have a lower chance of winning because having a player with no experience at all in high tier is even worse than having an afk ship (because you will likely cost them points by dying early). Ignore all of the ship advice in this thread, especially regarding secondary build ships - they are not easy to play effectively (you need to know how and when to push in a ship that cannot disengage once committed, so it's a do or die sort of deal) and you need access to a captain with all 19 skill points, or close to that, which you won't have, in order to make that work. Save your money and learn by grinding lines. Check different nations and classes. Take your time to learn as you go up. You'll have a better time and your teams will, too.
  11. Point 1: you get a small santa box for a t10 snowflake, these are crappy and your chances of dropping a ship from one of those are extremely low. Buying a ship just to get one more isn’t worth it if you didn’t want that ship anyway. Point 2: drops are predetermined the moment you receive the box, not on opening, so keeping it until something better is out doesn’t really work either. I’m also not sure if there is a time period after which the boxes are opened automatically.

Worst BB line in the game: new USN FreeXP turds?

Accuracy isn’t really the problem, due to the volume of shells I have no issues landing them in large quantities either with Kansas or Minnesota. The problem is pen, or lack thereof. Minnesota has Colorado levels of pen at t9. Have fun fighting Kremlins, which you can’t outtank, can’t outgun, and most certainly can’t outgun. The main thing is, the hulls are garbage - can’t move, can’t tank. Last game on the Minnie an enemy Iowa shot at me from 22+ km. He missed most of his savlo thanks to me turning out and angling away. One stray shell from his salvo had pepega dispersion so it actually hit me - while angled - scoring a citadel and disabling my engine. This can only be forgiven if the guns are exceptional, yet on t8 and t9 they are actually pretty meh. Not garbage, but definitely not amazing.
  13. You’ll sooner see CV’s removed from the game with a WG letter of apology for not doing it sooner than you’ll see a ship drop from one of those things.
  14. Tier 10 snowflakes gave small santa gifts last year. Steel was for t8-9, same as this time. Supercontainers for t10’s was always for the anniversary event. Ofc, the crappy nature of the small santa gift crates means that t10’s give worse rewards than t8/9. WG logic.

    Do you want change?

Me too. But none of that is worth anything without having a combo of Makarov, Makarov B, Makarov Lima and Arp Makarov! What I would give for such a combo. Can you imagine how great it would be? WG when.
  17. Captain_Newman

    Smaland worth it?

In terms of AA, Smaland has slightly higher continuous damage values than Halland does (394 on Smaland, 375 on Halland) and flak damage values (1985 vs 1890 on Halland), so, in short, your AA is slightly stronger, but you don't get access to defAA consumable. In practical terms, both DD's can defend themselves about equally well in most situations. Guns are largely the same (identical shells) however, Smaland gets 1.7s base reload while Halland gets 2s flat. Halland has much greater torpedo power with 3km longer range and 2 more torps per salvo. What really makes the Smaland stand out, however, is the presence of radar as well as the improved speed boost (+30% instead of 8% found on other DD's including Halland) which makes her suitable to hit and run attack tactics on enemy DD's. I like this speed boost so much I run the speed boost mod on it instead of the radar one to increase the duration. It can save you some health in the long run. If you need to kill the enemy DD so you can secure a cap, Smaland is better. If you need to punish an enemy push through a side as your flank is retreating, Halland will do better due to it being the better torpedo boat. Overall, is she worth it? If you have the 2 mil fxp and you like DD duels, then the answer is unequivocally yes. If you struggle with DD's then maybe spend the fxp elsewhere, 2 million is a lot. That's my general answer to this question.

    Player Behaviour/Behavior

Most players I know are over 30, plenty of them over 40 and some over 50. Personally I fit in the middle category there. While there are kids playing it, this game does attract a lot of the more mature audience, at least age-wise (because self-admittedly sabotaging his team's chances of winning because he doesn't care about any of them, but then complaining about them not liking it and verbally reacting isn't exactly what I'd call mature behaviour regardless of the age of the person doing it). And neither is doubling down on refusing to go co-op for no reason other than spite, it seems, when that game mode literally fits him best by what he himself described; since he doesn't even own any tech tree t9's after 5 years, let alone t10's, it's safe to say speed grinding isn't something that concerns him, and neither is any good standard of play, which makes coop a perfect place for him, but he refuses to go there because reasons. The reasons to go PvP in this game: 1. you want to test/improve your skill, 2. you want to progress up the lines faster. Literally neither reason applies to him so I have to conclude he actually enjoys ruining the game for others. I see no other reason why he'd be doing it.

I didnt get any ships from containers in 5+ years

Well, let’s see. Either it is the nature of RNG that some people will get really unlucky, or WG selected your particular account to get no ships ever for no reason. Clearly it’s option 2, they did it to distract you so you don’t notice the Earth is flat and is being run by lizard people.
  24. Captain_Newman

    Player Behaviour/Behavior

When others don’t like his conduct and comment in it -> “they think they own the game” When he doesn’t like their conduct -> they should get sanctioned by wg. When he self admittedly doesn’t play to win and does nothing to be a team player, he says “why should I care”. When he gets berated for it he does apparently expect us to care. It’s really not that hard to see the contradictions here, but I do wonder if he ever will. Sadly I doubt he’s trolling. I will never understand what drives some people to pvp games which they then treat as single player ones. I guess losing after doing 2k damage is fun for them?

    Better start whaling now bois...

Indeed. When you play the Nikolai and press “O” the guy on deck with a pistol is given a clip of bullets. Rubber ones. Ofc all that is forgiven when you get to turn it’s guns on two Hoshos that failed to move after their flank had collapsed, and you just blap them both off the map. It’s the simple pleasures... Luckily I’ve got all the rares so I really don’t care if they’re never available again - but with WG “never” doesn’t necessarily mean never. Still plenty of ships to entice people to buy lootboxes tho - Missouri, Kronshtadt, Benham, Alaska, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they started putting t10’s such as PR, Smolensk, Smaland etc in those as well.
