I'll be blunt: If you can use it in random battles, you should be able to get it by playing random battles.- 133 replies

Sooo... go get a sandwich? Play another game for a while? Go for a walk?

If you're going to sit in the smoke, you have to start slowing down and maybe start turning a bit before you trigger it. Same applies to some extent to RN CLs as well. Although with the DDs, you're often just as well off just using it as an escape tool, triggering smoke and turning away to screen yourself while you're G-ing TFO. I view firing from smoke with RN DDs as more of a situational thing. Not something you depend on for burning down BBs, but something you do if you can save yourself some damage while getting rid of an enemy DD that's spotted through other means or maybe if you have a shot at finishing off a low health cruiser.

How much coal do you have? I mean, Musashi is available for coal as well (that's how I got her), so if you really want her one option is to farm coal for the next couple of months. With the 25% coupon and the events giving lots of coal, it should be doable depending on what you currently have. Then you can get Kron for free exp. If you only get one, though, I suspect Musashi is the safer option as a credit earner. It's rare to have a really bad game in her, and you're almost always going to make a decent profit. Kron seems more situational (however, take that statement with a grain of salt as I don't have her myself yet).

A bit odd total lose of game control hack

I think this says everything it needs to about your knowledge of multiplayer gaming and network functionality. Unless you are quite literally gaming from inside WGs server hosting facility, you are definitely not playing over a LAN connection. And your Internet service provider and/or any one of the numerous other companies involved in routing traffic between your home and the WG server hosting facility can and will occasionally have hiccups in their network. That said, let's for the sake of experiment say this is some evil haxx0r wreaking havoc on your pc. What would it require? First, he would need to know your ip address. That's kind of difficult to find out, since all communication happens between the individual player's computer and the server. There is no peer-to-peer communication that would allow someone to find the ip-addresses of other players. Now, assuming our evil haxx0r somehow finds your ip address through... I don't know, magic or something. He could always be an evil sorcerer as well, I guess. The easiest thing to do would be to overload your connection (I.E. a denial-of-service attack, flooding your connection with useless data). However, that tends to give other symptoms more similar to packet loss, like rubberbanding. In order to take over control of your camera in the client, he'd actually have to install some form of remote access tool on your PC, which is generally pretty difficult. Usually, the way to do that is to get the PC's owner to inadvertently do it themselves by visiting dubious websites or clicking links they shouldn't. Actually forcing access to a modern PC from the outside is... not really possible. So which is the most likely scenario: 1) A haxx0r, mid game, takes the extensive time it would require to somehow locate your PC, uses NSA-level tools to force access to your PC and remote access your game client only to... mess with your camera for a few seconds? 2) A haxx0r has somehow infiltrated the WG server park and installed their own tools on it that allow them to manipulate the game state of other players (however, I don't think view angle is a server state, I suspect that's client side only). or 3) Someone in the development team (or the guy coding your eyesore of a mod) b0rked some part of the camera coding and there's a bug in it that occasionally causes the view angle to shift unexpectedly. -
My second item was a duplicate of the first, but the third was a different one. I don't think there's anything wrong with how it works, but there's always going to be some statistical clustering. I just set the Lighting "on hold" after they announced the collection and the rewards for it (did the same with the Cleve until I got the 'murica camo). So many other lines to grind anyway, it doesn't hurt to take a break from one line or the other.

Might pick up the Goth Massachusetts since it's fairly cheap and it's the only one I don't have the original version of already. Other than that... meh.

It was on the dev blog, but not live yet. Might never happen, or take a different form.

Not necessarily a bad idea, but how would you handle things like reassigning captains and premium ships? I mean, you'd basically have to rework captains so that once assigned to a ship of any given class they'd be locked to that class until respecced.

Probably never going to use it now that I have my owl, but it doesn't hurt to pick up the mission. -

Let's see how things work out when they change it to a flat bonus first, shall we? That said, I don't think I'd mind if they took @Aotearas' suggestion to heart. I mean, with the exception of some BB builds, it's basically mandatory because concealment is so important. Might be better to just remove the skill and rework concealment values around not having it. I think its biggest impact is on mid-tier DD play. For T7+, most people will have it anyway, so things are equal and it's basically just a captain point sink. For T2-4, most people will not have it, so with the exception of some seal clubbers things are fairly equal. But around T5-7 you'll have a mix of captains that do and do not have it, in which case it can make a pretty huge difference.

Trying to understand what I am doing wrong in BBs
Uglesett replied to HawkHunt's topic in General Discussion
Soooo.... how about just not playing, then? I mean, even the most hardcore masochist at least gets some enjoyment out of their suffering, you don't even seem to get that. -
Sure, but without knowing any more details, all we can do is make general suggestions.

Trying to understand what I am doing wrong in BBs
Uglesett replied to HawkHunt's topic in General Discussion
Eeeeeeh. Not quite. The important thing is to actually get use out of your guns. But that doesn't mean not switching targets. Keep your guns singing, but if a better target shows up you obviously go for them instead. In a BB, the only times you should not be firing is if you need to (and are able to) stealth up so you can buy time. E.g: -if you need to turn and show broadside, it's better to go unspotted first -if you need to buy time for your repair party to come off cooldown and regain some health -if you see an opportunity to move around for an ambush or good flanking move But as for what you should be shooting at, the priority list should be something like: 1) Low health targets that you can eliminate with one salvo (always better to get guns out of the game) 2) DDs that are spotted close enough for you to reliably hit them (especially if you have HE loaded)* 3) Any broadside target that you can do a lot of damage to 4) Anything else *I know some people prioritize shooting at spotted DDs over everything else, but to be honest I usually don't bother if they're so far away that I can't be reasonably confident of scoring some hits. -

Those looked like a fair few battleship salvoes as well as CL/CAs, to be honest. As for what you should have done... the IJN BBs up to T8 are generally not that good at going bow in and tanking, they're better at staying on the move and kiting away or zig-zagging on the edge of detection range. Much like japanese cruisers, but with an overeating problem. In that situation, your best bet would probably have been to first push forward into cover behind that island on the left to buy you some breathing room and then turned out and tried to kite them. -

If the issue is that you have limited mobility of your left hand, have you considered getting something like the Razer Orbweaver or Tartarus (or a similar gaming controller that aims to replace the keyboard)? Those kinds of gaming peripherals are basically designed to maximize the amount of controls you can reach comfortably with one hand. And as other people have mentioned, something like an MMO mouse might also help. It'll probably take some getting used to, but I know it can work well with practice. I used to play Unreal Tournament with a guy who only had one working arm (so he played using only a mouse), and the guy was pretty damned good.

[Nerf Bat] Yueyang being slaughtered

If that's the main reason, though, why nerf her torpedoes? -
Yeah, I think I'll ditch this year's Christmas/New Year event. Bit burned out by the Royal Navy event. Maybe chill out and play some lines that have been stuck on T3-4 for ages (US and RU DDs and RU cruisers, I'm looking at you).

Regarding this, btw: Well, duh. For one thing, the premiums (being premium) actually earn a decent credit income, unlike the tech tree T9s which don't exactly tend to haul in the silver. Furthermore, a lot of the tech tree T9s are just considered speed bumps on the way to T10, and most of them are probably ditched as soon as possible. I certainly can't see myself keeping the Neptune or the Izumo after unlocking their successors. It's pretty natural that the few ships which people are very likely to keep after acquiring them, that also happen to be making decent credit earnings, are going to dominate T9. (Yes, I know some T9s like Fletcher are considered keepers, but for every keeper there are quite a few speed bumps.)
