    HMS Furious and her planes

That's going to vary a lot depending on matchmaking. If you're top tier, 32mm HE pen can damage most BBs in your matchmaking spread. Against higher tier BBs you're going to need more luck. I guess the screenshot is from an operation? Which means a fair amount of lower tier ships to hit.

    LWM Exeter review

Erm. And this is stated clearly in the very first sentence of the review's ingress. But since there's no line of RN CAs, her potential value as a captain trainer is mainly for the RN CLs, which is the subject of the paragraph that's the source of the quote.

    HMS Furious and her planes

Considering that of the three navies whose CVs are represented so far the IJN was the only one who never actually used rocket armed planes, that would be a rather daft choice. That's pretty much exactly what they do, though.

    HMS Furious and her planes

I haven't bothered playing the Hermes and I don't have the Furious yet. However, my impression so far is that they for all practical purposes have two squadrons of rocket planes, which can be all kinds of annoying. Had a game in the Nicholas where the enemy Hermes, despite me and a nearby cruiser murdering their planes in droves, just kept cycling between rocket planes and bombers and nibbling away at my health, keeping me from doing anything useful. They may not be the most powerful CVs, but they certainly seem like they have the potential to top the annoyance-scoreboard.

RN CV bombers do indeed perform level bombing attacks rather than dive bombing (because that worked so well when it was tried out in practice).

Is the WoWs grind too generous

I'm leaning towards "no". Mainly because the people who aren't willing to learn won't do so whether they spend 10 games on a given tier or 100. And besides, if you really manage to speed-grind a line, it's probably because you already know how to play pretty well. And you need credits as well... to quickly go through a line you need to have a fair amount stockpiled. Which again takes some experience with the game. That said, I don't really see the point in speeding up the progress too much. Exp boosters are nice for getting through the real turds in a line, but with a ship I enjoy I'll limit the exp boosters because I don't mind playing the ship. And having more games before needing to buy the next ship in line means less of a credit crunch.

    LWM Exeter review

It is a bit of a clumsy sentence, though, I'll give you that. Personally I would have written something more along the lines of "She's the captain trainer for RN cruisers we've all been...."

    LWM Exeter review

The subject of that sentence is not "Royal Navy Light Cruiser", it's "Royal Navy Light Cruiser (RNCL) captain-trainer".
  9. I suspect it's because they want to gather data on the performance of the specific ships "allowed" by the event. Get people to play those ships more so they can see how they're balanced in the current meta.
  10. Also, the T8 max restriction is getting on my tits. Not a fan of having to take the Edinburgh out for 1000 main battery hits when the Minotaur is sitting in my port.
  11. This isn't about the rework itself and how the CVs work, but about the events and promotions surrounding them and why they are... a bit daft. I've made a lot of the same points scattered through other threads, but after trying my hand at CVs again for a couple of games last night (and remembering why I hadn't played them more), I figured I summarize my thoughts in a separate thread. Now, this is coming from the perspective of someone who didn't play CVs before the rework. Not because I had anything against RTS CVs as an element in the game (quite the opposite, in fact), I was just not terribly interested in playing them myself. The consequence of this is of course that I didn't have a port full of CVs before the rework. But, I figured I'd give the reworked CVs a try, if only to be able to give WG some feedback. Unfortunately, WG have sort of shot themselves in the foot in that regard, because they've basically designed the release event(s) to keep people away from playing CVs. So, what are the issues? 1) The T4 CVs are about as much fun as a traditional Norwegian packed lunch. Now, I can generally deal with this, I've gone through the grind on several other fairly dull ships. But then we get to... 2) Unlike other ship classes, since there are no T5 CVs you have to grind a rather stupid amount of exp in T4 to get to the next ship in line. Normally, going from T4 to T5 with a moderate expenditure of experience boosters takes you around 5 games, and if you really splurge on signals and camos and get a good win you can do it in one. Whereas the CVs require you to grind 71k exp in ships that aren't that good for racking up the exp in the first place. And that brings us neatly on to... 3) At the same time as you expect new CV players to spend quite a lot of time grinding T4 ships, you run a ton of introductory events and promotions requiring T5+ ships. And often non-CVs just to add insult to injury (I mean, how many main battery hits do you normally get in a CV?) If the objective of the rework was to get more people playing CVs, you'd think the sensible thing to do was to design events around actually playing CVs, and having objectives that are completable with all tiers of CVs. That way someone who didn't already have a port full of CVs would have an incentive to try them. I've basically shelved CVs because the available game time I have is spent in T5+ ships. And if this cycle of events always requiring T5+ ships keeps up, I don't think I'm ever going to go above T4 in anything except the Royal Navy CV line (where I can skip to the T6 through the current event). (And yes, I could skip the T4s with free exp, but frankly I'd rather save those for something like the Alaska that actually looks interesting, rather than on a class I'm at best lukewarm about) Poking @MrConway and @Tuccy because I think you guys need to hear this.
  12. Even in coop battles you are to some extent slave to the matchmaker. I was lucky this time around, but I've had times where I just couldn't get a non-standard game even in coop. And considering how dull coop is, not getting the matchmaking you need is even more disappointing in that case (even though the matches at least are shorter).

CV's - Good looking, but that's about it.

Am I the only one who gets some kind of Pirate Trump crossover vibe from this guy? Sooo... let me get this straight. You trust WG with balancing the game. But at the same time you think they're incompetent enough to somehow outsource their forums to some other company, and the forum company in turn tries to sabotage their own income by hiring people to pretend to be players who rag on the game made by their employer's customers?
  14. I've already mentioned these same points (albeit spread over several posts in multiple threads) in the "current update" forum. But tbh, threads on the gameplay forum do seem to get more traction than feedback in the feedback forum.
  15. The biggest issue isn't so much with the time required as with the predictability of it. Some tasks are incredibly random, and can be massively frustrating if you just end up in a ton of games where the conditions for doing that task just aren't filled. Not just "shoot down planes", but also things like caps/decaps. I was starting to get really tired of standard battles after the fifth one in a row when I was trying to gather those ten (or was it fifteen?) captures/defenses. Especially since I at that stage started getting really bored with Shiratsuyu and Akatsuki. (Yeah, the nationality restrictions add to the frustration, because at least for me the option to switch things up is one of the things that keeps the game fresh - I normally rarely bother to play the same ship more than two games in a row.) Events like fly, strike, win, where tasks run in parallel are much less frustrating, because you can basically play like normally and eventually "stumble on to" the requirements for tasks. But marathons where you can get "stuck" if you're unlucky with matchmaking or game type can get incredibly irritating.

CV's - Good looking, but that's about it.

Didn't your mother teach you that you can't have everything you want? *edit* Oh woe. What a terrible loss that would be.
  17. Some of these are stupidly easy to do in coop, btw. 15 defenses can be easily achieved in one game with a bit of luck (mainly getting a team that's not too aggressive about capping), and floods are a lot easier to farm on bots than in randoms.
  18. Don't know if there's a magic trick, but at the start it's better to hang far enough back that you have time to turn back and start kiting if it turns out that most of the enemy team have lemmingtrained in your direction. Don't push too aggressively until you know where most of the enemy team are going. If the ships scouting for you start running, chances are you should too. It also helps to position yourself so that you have a convenient landmass to head behind if you need to turn away. Most of the firestarters have pretty high ballistic arcs and have a harder time dealing with a target that's heading away. So kiting away is often the best way of handling them.

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

Aside from some derping around in lower tier matches, I very rarely see DDs chasing after CVs before the later stage of the game. There might be some who have that intention, but if so they die before they get even past the enemy DDs and cruisers. And I certainly don't see skilled streamers doing it, even Flambass' speshul tactics on Two Brothers doesn't entail going after the CVs before it's late game and safer to do so. What on earth are you on about? That quote from @Stormhawk_V is specifically about good DD players scouting ahead of their team, not about them chasing after CVs. Did you even read the post you quoted? It's still no more useful. The main difference isn't whether you smoke up or not when you go for the cap, the difference is mainly whether you go for the cap at all. Oh for goodness' sake, those suggestions are so derpy they're not even worthy of a response. As if the game balance isn't completely ed by the CV rework, you want to it over even more by basically throwing a DD rework into the mix? And given how dull they are, I probably won't get one. I never bothered to play the RTS CVs either, but as I've stated several times before: I could respect their presence, I could respect the players who enjoyed them, and I had no problems having them in the game. I could even enjoy the cat-and-mouse game between myself and a CV. Whereas the new CVs are a pure irritation that adds no enjoyment to the game whatsoever. No you don't. If you did, you wouldn't be hyperbolically dismissing people who are far more skilled and knowledgeable than you as "youfacer's, (not good DD's), looking to boost views and subs for monetization while paid by game companies".

Anyone get any Ship Missions from Air Supply containers?

Only gotten the free containers, no ship missions so far. Wouldn't mind getting the Vanguard, though.
  21. I'll fairly easily gather enough for the Furious bundle this week, but that's as far as it goes unless WG decides to suddenly dump a ton of free crates on my head.

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

Erm.... maybe you should try actually watching those streamers you're disparaging? Because CV sniping in DDs both was and still is rare, and most certainly so amongst people who actually know how to play the game, as most of the well known streamers do. You literally have no clue how to play a DD. Using smoke when capping isn't something you do when you actually know how to play DDs, because it negates your spotting advantage. Smoke is a tool for when your cap attempt has gone horribly wrong and you need to avoid getting shot. Sitting in smoke is something you can do when you have someone else spotting for you, which doesn't happen when you go for early cap contesting. You don't have one, though. Nor do you have any DDs higher than T5.

And how many ships have you seen lose 50+% of their HP to a BB in the same time frame?
