How do you play the Kronshtadt? Give me Advice!
Uglesett replied to hamed_pour's topic in General Discussion
She's a large, open-water cruiser. Basically, all the tricks that work for those work for Kron. Keep your range open so you can slip into stealth if you have to turn and show broadside. She's excellent at kiting. And while the guns are trollish compared to ships like the French and Japanese CAs, they do hit hard when they hit. So once the sticks to the wall, it sticks very well. -
Submarine gameplay and mechanics - what would you like to see?

Public Service Announcement: They're called "depth charges". Water bombing is what you do when you fight forest fires. -

Maybe you should start in the other end? Provide arguments for what positive aspects submarines actually add to the game, and why you think they outweigh the potential negative ones. -
Aircraft carriers are also warships
Uglesett replied to DreadArchangel's topic in General Discussion
So are minelayers and -sweepers, but does that make them worthwhile to implement in the game? -
This thread is weird. Being in a clan is nice for the economy bonuses, though.

Are you sure you're in the right thread?

I usually move captains up the tiers. Only exception is my Edinburgh skipper who was passed over for promotion to the Neptune (and later Minotaur) in favour of one of the Dunkirk brothers. I don't have the luxury of spending lots of elite captain exp training new skippers. Usually I pay the 200k credits and then spend a couple of games in an appropriate premium ship with tons of stacked commander exp bonuses to finish the retraining. Premiums usually just get a captain from a tech tree ship. Asashio is an exception though, and ideally I'd at least like a special captain for Atlanta as well.

Achievements aren't awarded in coop.

Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?
Uglesett replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
You can do that one in coop as well. -

The lower tier boats work best if you use American ambush tactics, but if you pull those off successfully the stupidly high volume of torpedoes means that you're almost ensured a devastating strike. -

I don't understand how people can consistently get arsonist and witherer. I have more Kraken Unleashed than I have of those two combined First Blood and Devastating Strike I get fairly regularly. -

If you're half decent with DDs, devastating strike shouldn't be too difficult. And if you're fond of yoloing you might even combine it with "It's just a flesh wound" and "First blood". Higher tier BBs can farm Dreadnoughts like nobody's business, and Edinburgh can get a lot of these as well due to the super heal. Fiji if played well is a beast, especially if she's top tier, and getting achievements like Confederate happens surprisingly often in her. -
what ship will break the 500,000 damage mark EU server

Probably Kreml. Is Russian, da? -
When do the midway HE dive bombers finally get nerfed?
Uglesett replied to Colonel_Boom's topic in General Discussion
Not really. I mean, skip bombing and mast height bombing were perfectly adequate, low-cost alternatives to torpedo bombing against merchant shipping and lightly armed ships (e.g. auxiliaries like tankers and sub tenders), but it's fairly suicidal against anything with half-decent AAA. Erm. We're talking HE bombs here. Their penetration is unaffected by impact velocity and angle. -
Dunno really. It's probably easier to list what's not a success. A roflstomp game (either direction) typically feels unsatisfying. Even if we win there are so many cases where I just felt my own presence was completely irrelevant (despite doing a perfectly adequate job). But other than that.... as long as the game felt fun I usually grade it as a success. Doesn't necessarily mean I got a ton of kills or did a lot of damage. Have had plenty of games where my job has mostly been to be a nuisance to the enemy team that they can't kill but also can't ignore, and suddenly the rest of my team comes rolling over them from the other flank. I like those games even if I don't necessarily get the big damage numbers. Sure, nothing beats a close fought Kraken for sheer adrenaline, but those are few and far between in my case at least.

From the thread title I thought this was about divisioning up with two CVs in a Yamato. Which would be a bit silly.

Have you started using the "Juliet Yankee Bissotwo" Combat Signal with new flooding mechanics?
Uglesett replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Not really. I can definitely see the value in sluggish BBs (and I have used it on occasion), but since I often have eight signals equipped anyway, I'm not sure what I would prioritize it over. I could always skip papa papa, but I'm trying to save up for the Alaska. I'll use it on lower tier BBs where the economy is more roomy and I can skip things like reduced maintenance cost. But in something like the Yamasashi-sisters I usually run premium damage con anyway. -
Atlanta (VII) - shooting range 15,5 kms???
Uglesett replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
How is it possible to be this dense and still manage to install and run the game, that's what I'm wondering. Anyway: Or, you know, you could make it even simpler and just drag and drop the file where it says "Drag files here to attach"! -
Atlanta (VII) - shooting range 15,5 kms???
Uglesett replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
No. Maybe you post what you earnestly believe is the truth (alternatively, you're just trolling), but considering your generally rather tenuous relationship with reality, I think the safe bet here is not to trust you until you actually pony up a replay file. And as mentioned, unless you have specifically chosen to disable them, you will have replays from the last thirty games stored in the replays folder under the main install folder. -

Uglesett replied to Yaskaraxx's topic in General Discussion
If you just played the battle, you should have the replay file stored still. -
Well, there's two schools of thought in that regard: -Get something that can help you grind a line you're already working on. -Get something that gives you entirely new options. I don't really have any Russian ships (I've finally scraped up to T5 on the cruiser and DD tree very recently), so when one of the stages of the New Year's event was "earn 6 million credits with ships from a ton of different nations", having the Kronshtadt around certainly helped.
-
There's no denying that the T10 economy is designed around either selling stuff (e.g. permacamos or premium time) or pushing people to earn credits in lower tiers (maybe even with premium ships with good earning potential that WG can sell you). The 50% cost reduction from permacamos in particular makes a huge difference. I got the HSF camo for Yammy, and I don't think I've ever lost credits in her no matter how hard I potatoed. Being a bit smart about consumables is another thing that helps. I mean, the 3% decrease in detectability from Type 5 camo is probably not going to help you much, at least not with all the CVs out and about these days. You can probably manage with Type 2. (That said, considering how fat the Currywurst is, I'm not sure if the dispersion debuff really helps either ) By the way, am I the only one who feels the premium heal in particular tends to be... well, a bit wasted? Ok, the reduced cooldown comes in handy occasionally, but by the time I get down to that last charge there's often so little repairable damage left that can be queued up that it's not really going to make any difference. Sure, there's the occasional game where a premium heal could have made the difference between living and dying, but those games are few and far between. Damage con is a different matter entirely.

Considering how many free camos the game throws at me, I have to wonder how anyone can be bothered to pay credits for camos. That said, if you'd been in a clan that had invested a bit in maintenance cost reduction, and slapped on an India Bravo Terrathree in addition to the Zulu, you would have been in the black. 15% of 246000 (maintenance and ammunition) is 36900 credits. Hm. Do the maintenance cost reductions apply to consumables and camos as well? I assume they're only for maintenance and ammunition, but I've never actually checked.

USS Georgia Model - Man those guns are longgggg
Uglesett replied to ___V_E_N_O_M___'s topic in General Discussion
They're 457s, and it's T9. Basically, imagine if the Gneisenau moved to America and got fat.
