    ST - Icebergs

I am... tentatively skeptical. Setting aside the minor detail that icebergs are mostly underwater (and knocking a bit off the top would realistically just cause it to float further up), this is one of those things that's cool on paper but can quickly end up being a bit pointless. If it's too quick and easy to destroy them, they'll just be knocked down immediately and aside from some eyecandy it won't actually make any difference to the layout of the map. Make them too time consuming to destroy, and people might just end up not bothering. I suspect it's going to be tricky to hit that right spot where it feels like something that genuinely adds to the game, and not just a gimmick.

I did it in one coop game in the Fiji. One cheeky kill steal on a cruiser, I think, plus two torpedoed BBs. Coop with RN cruisers is also excellent for the citadel hits mission. Bots love to sail broadside, and RN 152 mm sAP will very reliably citadel other cruisers at shorter ranges.

If you're not afraid to killstealsecure, a fast firing CL like the Fiji and Edinburgh is excellent for getting that last hit in. The mid tier DDs are also pretty good for this. If you can get two kills with torpedoes and one cheeky low health kill with the guns you're golden. Jervis in particular is great for this: she's got the five torps per launcher of her predecessor, and almost the same excellent gun alpha damage as her successor.

    ST - New ships

Fingers crossed that the Yoshino ends up as a gudbote, because she certainly looks like the most exciting of the large cruisers so far.

    Destructible Icebergs in WoWs? :-)

    Eeeeh. They'll be fine.

    Exeter Grind

Wait, what? See previous comment. Impression so far: She's an absolute monster. Eeh. I'll grant you that if you insist on doing all of it in randoms you might have a point, but if you're willing to debase yourself in coop you can speed it up substantially. Those "ineffective" DDs can put a lot of torpedoes into a bot BB in a very short space of time. I had several games where I potatoed significantly, and it still didn't take me that long to get 750k damage. Basically, if you're past part 1, parts 2 through 4 are a breeze in coop.

Ah. Mine was just refunded from the store. I think technically according to consumer law here they could have requested to repair/replace the original a second time, but they didn't seem to mind just selling me a different model and RMAing the first. You don't have any mates with a spare PSU lying around? If your circle of friends is anywhere near as nerdy as mine, that's a pretty plausible scenario
  8. And if you consider a battleship salvo striking the deck of a CV, that CV should no longer be able to launch and recover planes. Yet here we are.

Mine was a Seasonic. IIRC Corsair's had some issues with some of their models which weren't manufactured in-house, but afaik the rmx 650 modular is their own design. Of course, it could just be that they've had a bad batch, and the store you bought it from had all their stock from that batch. In that case it might be worth canceling the sale and go for another brand if you can. (Because chances are any replacement is going to be from the same production run). That's what I ended up doing (went for EVGA instead, been working like a charm). But Norwegian consumer law is pretty friendly in that respect, and the store didn't make a fuss. Your mileage may vary.

I don't know. Since it was the first CA I played, I can't exactly claim that I was terribly skilled when I played through her*. And I haven't tried new flavour Furry Taco at all. I'm actually considering rebuying her just to try her out again now that I know what I'm doing. If course, I can't exactly just slap a 16 pt captain in the Furutaka the way I can with the Exeter, though *Well, I'm not terribly skilled now either. But better than I was back then.
  11. Erm. Spee is a CA in game. Are you mixing her up with the Scharnhorst? As for why we don't see more ships of that type with them, it's mostly because the ship designs they're based on for the most part didn't have them. The ships that had torpedo tubes that aren't modeled in the game typically had submerged tubes, which WG for some reason seem reluctant to include. Dunno if it's game engine related, although if they can spawn a torpedo underwater in the submarine-themed halloween event, they could presumably do the same for a surface ship in the main game.

    Your LEAST played premium ships?

Am I the only weirdo who's actually not that bothered by playing T8 ships? Most of my T8 premiums are thoroughly enjoyable ships (yes, even that potatofarming trolibote, the Asashio), and they tend to uptier reasonably well. I rarely feel that outmatched in something like the Atago or Prinz Eugen in a T10 match. And many of the T8 premiums have their own rather unique flavour, while at the same time being based on historic ships (unlike a lot of the higher tier vessels). Those aren't premiums, though

Ouch. And the old one is no longer under warranty? (You have my sympathy, btw. I had my couple of year old PSU fail, got it replaced on warranty, the replacement failed similarly to the first one after a month. Switched brands after that.)
  14. Thank you for that completely new, never before seen idea that's not been discussed on this forum ever before. Also, I fully understand that the forum's own editing tools are entirely inadequate for the job, and "paste as plain text" is just one right click too many. It's not as if anyone uses the dark forum themes anyway, right?

Only one game in her so far, but I'm going to tentatively say that LWM might be right to rate it "Overpowered". Going to take a bit of a break from Her Majesty's Navy now, though.

Almost there, just farming citadel hits with the Edinburgh in coop.
  17. Erm. You can just reequip the other module, you know.

    Your LEAST played premium ships?

Hm. Let's ignore the Z-39 and Sims right now, because the only reasons I haven't played them much is that after I picked them up I've ended up playing other nations due to ongoing events. Same to a certain extent applies to LoYang, Prinz Eugen and Irian. These are all attractive ships that I definitely will be playing, just not right now. T2-4: I just don't play these tiers much at all (for the same reasons as mentioned in first post), so Tachibana Lima, Smith, Yubari, Vampire, Varyag... none of these really see any real playtime. I just don't have the time to go sealclubbing between all the T5+ events going on. T5-10 -Anshan: I got this in a crate at some point, and while it theoretically would be a good ship for training my PA DD skipper, I just never really played it much. I don't get to play the PA DDs much at all because there are other lines that I'm more interested in, and now that I have the LoYang (also from a crate), the Anshan feels a bit meh. -Giulio Cesare: It's a good ship, I probably should take her out more often... it's just that she's not part of a tech tree line, so I'm sort of stuck with a low skill captain, and I guess I'm just not that fond of T5 BBs. I discovered that I've actually played a surprising amount of games in the Texas. I'm just absolute crap in her

How do you play the Kronshtadt? Give me Advice!

I thought that was implied by the term "open-water cruiser" I mean, there are two kinds of people who play CAs in the open: People who know where the rudder is, and easy sources of citadel hits.
