Except the planes aren't the ammo. The planes are the "ship".

    World of Carriers

Nah, I'll be happy when they're subject to the same restrictions and counter play mechanisms as the other classes.

How long till Submarines arrive ?

We already have one class that's impossible to balance due to it operating under fundamentally different constraints than the others. Let's not add a second one.

@shonai The post is unreadable on dark background.

Bearcat 3xTiT sealclubs ( lower tier ) Cruisers

To be fair: If you're too crap to properly hit DDs, going after cruisers may net higher rewards

    ADD DD COUNTERPLAY to CV

Some day when I have the elite commander exp to burn I'll do a meme manual secondaries build for Haida

    ADD DD COUNTERPLAY to CV

The main difference as a DD is that in the RTS iteration, air strikes were all or nothing affairs. If you managed to dodge it, you knew you'd cost the CV a significant amount of time and effort. And you'd have time to reposition by the time the cv could cycle their planes. You simply had more room to maneuver. That simply isn't there any more. Once a CV knows the general area you're in, they will manage to wear you down. As self-owns go, this one's pretty epic.
  10. While it was highly amusing the other night in the Kidd when two T8 CVs apparently thought they were playing Pac-man, I would like to have some more options when playing ships like Akatsuki.
  11. So, with the Fly, strike, win event petering down, we see the first objectives available only to CVs (earlier stages have had objectives that are a lot simpler in CVs but can be done with a bit of grinding in other ships). And, as with pretty much all other event objectives, they are for T5+ ships. Now, for other ship classes, this restriction isn't that much of a deal. Even if you stick solely to free stuff, pretty much anyone will have some credit boosters that will allow them to blaze through a T4 ship in about an hour's worth of play time. So even if you don't really want to take time out of playing your T5+ ships to progress in one of the incessant events, it can be done fairly quickly if needs be. But for CVs? Getting to the T6 takes 71k exp, which is a bit more of a grind, particularly when you consider that the T4 CVs aren't exactly damage dealing monsters that can really rack up the base exp on a regular basis. Personally I'm still stuck on the Hosho and Langley because the events are constantly driving me away from playing ships below T5. The only T6 CV I have is the Furious since the release event allowed me to skip the grind. So how about it @MrConway and @Crysantos? What about allowing future CV only objectives to be completable with T4+ ships, since CVs are speshul and go directly to T6? Other classes are fine at T5+ because the grind is generally so quick.
  12. I call confirmation bias.
  13. You do know that rewards are calculated based on percentage of ship health? In other words, doing 10k damage to a DD with 20k health rewards you a lot more than doing the same 10k to a BB with 80k health.
  14. To be honest, I think the number of players who would want to play without one of the other three classes is far lower than the number who'd like to play without CVs. And the BB drivers who don't see the value of having DDs on their team probably aren't a great loss anyway.

Yeah, I'll often skip the range module as well on DDs simply because it allows me more wiggle room to fire in the open. Shorter range may mean fewer opportunities to farm damage on BBs, but it also means that I can easier put myself in positions where the only one who can see me is the ship I'm shooting at. On top of that, it's not as if the boost to secondaries is much value to cruisers in general.
  16. I'm still not going to hold my breath for that happening any time soon...
  17. Changing the tier requirement for a single category of event objectives is quick and simple and solves that specific problem for now. Creating and balancing nine new CVs is.... a bit more work.

The problem with skills like AFT (and BFT for that matter) is that the AA buff alone isn't really worth the cost. Basically, they're skills that do too many different things, and the cost is essentially set with the assumption that you get all of those benefits. If you run them on something like the Atlanta or Kidd, where you get buffs to pretty much every aspect of the ship except torpedoes... then sure, they're excellent. On a BB where you can really benefit from their effects on both AA and secondaries they can also definitely be worth the points cost. But for just the AA buffs on a ship that otherwise gets no benefit... eeeeh. I've proposed this before, but in a future rework of the captain skills I think the best thing they can do is split these "jack of all trades" skills into multiple, lower cost skills. Make buffing AA if that's all you do a bit cheaper. Because right now, if you have the choice between an AA build that helps against one out of four classes, and a more general build that works against three (or even all four) classes.... well, it's not hard to see what's rational. Glad I'm not the only one...

OR you can just go play Tier II

  21. Well, WG did actually mention this as one option for the proposed "support" CV line. Personally, I just can't wait to see CV captains bringing some next level trolling by smoking up the ships on their own team that are doing the spotting...

This. German low tier DDs are hilarity incarnate.

    CV Rework Discussion

This weekend I had one game with no CVs in it Please, WG, at least don't encourage people. Don't include event objectives that require people to play CVs.
  24. Bumped into forumites two games in a row. First @ForlornSailor in a division with two other NWP-ers on the other team. My team lemmingtrained spectacularly, and then as icing on the cake my Kidd got detonated just as I was smoking up and about to dump a spread of torps. Still, at least his division mate was kind enough to feed me a fair number of plane kills as consolation prize Next match I took the Musashi out for a spin to earn some credits, and ended up on the same team as @AmiralPotato. We lost, unfortunately. Started off well, but then the team started collapsing. Still, ggs to both
  25. Yes, and that turned out to be a really bad design decision. What WG thought they wanted when they came up with the rework, and what is actually good game design are two different things. Yes, but each lost plane would reduce the potency of the attack, just as in the RTS version. It would make it worthwhile to actually make the effort to evade, because you could actually nullify the attack with skilled maneuvering. Now it's not worthwhile to risk exposing yourself to evade an air attack, because it's better to take any individual air strike than the damage you can suffer from surface vessels if you ahow broadside. Damage of one strike was mostly sustainable in the RTS version. CVs are always going to be unpopular, because they are a separate game from the rest and completely disregard the systems used to balance the other three classes against each other. The only way to completely fix that at this stage requires a TARDIS. The best we can hope for is a CV implementation that doesn't break all of elements that other classes rely on for balancing.
