And a short grind is not free? All you say can be summarized as "I want high tier premium ships to be for no-lifers". The savage battle event wasn't a challenge on anything but your social life. It doesn't require anything of you except to have nothing else to spend your time on. Don't pretend that it's some kind of measure of skill or worthiness that you happen to have enough time at the right time of year.

Yes, because it's not as if it takes any time or anything to get the coal/free exp/whatever to unlock these ships And people would buy premium ships because they're interested in those specific ships just like now, because they offer something different to other ships on offer. And they'd buy premium time just like now to speed up the grind. Presumably because someone at WG doesn't trust the quality of their clan battle system to be interesting on its own. Who the is talking about offering all of their premiums up for free? We're talking about making the reward ships available through long term play instead of short term grinds that wear down the player base. This is that reading comprehension thing I mentioned earlier, work on it!

Not really, a lot of the Japanese BCs and fast BBs are good lookers. I don't have Ashitaka myself, but Amagi and Kii are in my port and definitely pretty ships.

Why not spend some of that copious free time you apparently have on actually trying to comprehend what people are saying instead of moaning about something you obviously don't understand?

One thing he's forgetting about is that the purpose of the grind events isn't just monetization. It's also about populating the servers. And a subscription model doesn't entice people to play the game. Other than that, I agree with most of what he's saying. The problem with events like this one is that they have no value unless you put all of your time into them. Basically, it doesn't entice the "play occasionally" crew to keep playing. It's only for those who have the time to play every day. This one was particularly egregious, because unless you manage to get the 800 fuel tokens for Benham, the only thing you can get out of it are a few days worth of premium time. At least the previous event had lower tier rewards like the Murmansk. What they need to do is have grinds that are achievable for someone who can play maybe 1-3 hours 2-3 hours a day days a week. Increase that part of the player base, instead of relying on the minority of hardcore players to keep the servers populated.

I suspect it'll make its way into the Armory at some point for coal or steel, less sure it'll be sold for cash.

Did WG technically speaking communicate the correct end date for the event? Yes. Does that mean that the way they do communicate event dates is good? Not really. Their promotional events are generally a horrible, grindy, poorly communicated mess that really only reward the minority of players who have the time to play on an almost daily basis while being of very low value to pretty much anyone else. This one was especially bad, because the only thing you can get for the fuel tokens besides the Benham are a few days of premium time, there's no real value in participating unless you go in full-time.

Duca D'Aosta actually offers something unique on her own, though. Whereas with Julio, you get the exact same ship in the Boise, except that you can slot an existing USN CL captain into her which makes her much more potent with much less play time/elite captain exp/free exp.

We have no idea when any other Pan American cruisers will show up, though. Buying a ship now because she might be a good captain trainer for a line a couple of years in the future... nah. I might have picked it up if it was the Boise instead. Exeter would have been a good deal without the containers (I already have her. She's a good boat, Brent)

I am so glad I just didn't give a about this grind.

Now, my level of skill can best be described as Yes, there are ships that better suit me, and that I have a higher win rate in. And yes, I could probably boost my overall winrate by sticking exclusively to those ships. But that wouldn't make me a better player.

Nah. They were amusing in PvE, but I don't see their game play design translating well into a PvP environment. In the Halloween operation, you were forced by the operation constraints to use them aggressively. In PvP, they'll basically be like high concealment torpedo DDs, only more so. I can't see how they'll contribute to anything but an even more campy meta.
