Question to those who have a Colbert

21% more average exp, but with a ten times higher win rate. With the win bonus, you should have somewhere around 40% more average exp in the Colbert if their performance was the same.

    Kikatami

Considering all the weird they're stuffing into the game, and with submarines making their way in as well... I mean, why the hell not? Might as well add the Courageous class Battlecruisers and the Habbakuk while they're at it.

Map Awareness, Do You Have It?

"Coffee drinking hours" for me are usually restricted to when I'm at work, or else I up my sleep pattern*. While I try to not be completely sloshed while playing (but currently I'm not really in a position to get completely sloshed anyway), I play to relax and unwind, not to be a tryhard and win at all costs. So if being a bit tired or having a beer makes me play at less than optimal condition I don't really care tbh. And with that, I can explain why my first reply was only semi-joking: I think most of the semi-competent players on this forum are intellectually fully aware of the issues raised in this thread (and of the ones who aren't, a lot are probably hopeless cases anyway). So this thread is sort of kicking in open doors. Unfortunately, being intellectually aware of something does not equate to being able to put it to good use. And that's sort of my point. Yes, I understand why map awareness is important. But actually having good map awareness while in the thick of it... well, that depends on how much brain capacity is available at any given time. I'm not going to deny that the hours of the day when I actually have time to play also tends to be the part of the day where my brain tends to downclock itself quite significantly. And I'm not going to stop having a beer or a wee dram while playing just because it impacts my performance a bit. *Although with a month old kid in the house, it can't really get any worse I guess

Map Awareness, Do You Have It?

My map awareness is inversely proportional to the amount of beer I've been drinking while playing
  6. Not sure if joking or not, but the "Ersatz X" naming convention is only for placeholder names. They're basically used for budgetary purposes, to show which existing vessel a new ship is intended to replace in the naval roster. It's never actually used as name for a ship in operation.

How do you actually play a Battleship?

It's not about either staying back or pushing, it's about doing both and knowing when to do them. Push too early, and you just get crossfired and die. The people who moan about no support tend to be the ones who do this. By holding back and keeping a bit of distance early on, you have room to assess the enemy team's positioning, trade some shots and figure out whether it's worth pushing from the position you're currently in or whether you're better off turning out and kiting. If your flank is outnumbered, there's no point pushing into superior firepower. Then you're better off conserving your health by kiting away and making the enemy team waste their time dealing with you. Especially if you're in a situation where you can slip out of detection between salvoes while someone from your team is keeping them spotted, this can make you a royal pain in the arse to deal with. If you're in a numerically superior position and reasonably well supported, then by all means push forward. That way you can get into position to fire into the sides of enemy ships on the other flank. And then of course there's a crapton of finesse depending on which specific ship we're talking about. Fast ships like the Japanese BBs up to Amagi are excellent for kiting and sticking to flanks. Same goes for a lot of the Frenchies. Fat, slow American dreadnoughts should typically stick closer to the centreline of the map, or they can easily end up without anything to shoot at, while the higher tier fast BBs are pretty much all-rounders.

    Container expiration

Not quite. Containers that include guaranteed premium time are definitely worth saving up until you actually have time to play.
  9. On an ever so slightly more serious note, if she ends up named Wotan they should really do a full-on Wagnerian-themed camouflage that uses this for its horn. (Also, they should do the same for Siegfried and use this)

    Smolensk Question

I suspect Des Moines would be a better choice than Worcester, tbh. Smolensk has got 16mm plating, right? Alaska will probably make her life difficult. Radar and can overmatch her plating.

Do you want submarines in the game?

After seeing the sub gameplay demo, the answer is still "no" on my part.

    Musashi with frustrating dispersion

But it's got cruiser HE power out to 10 km. You can engage two ships - of which 1 is a DD or soft skin Light Cruiser - simultaneously

    World of warships

  15. Judging by the gameplay shown on stream, a submarine can easily spot a DD for a substantial amount of time before the DD can actually perform an attack. Or just stay at periscope depth and keep their distance. And during this time, every half-competent cruiser captain on the enemy team is going to go "I'm gonna get me some of that" and gang up on that poor DD like a Japanese schoolgirl at a tentacle monster convention. The only way I can see this even half way working is if submarines cannot spot for their own team except when fully surfaced.

    Musashi with frustrating dispersion

No. Musashi still has the "old" Yamato turret traverse of 2.5 deg/sec. Yamato was buffed after the release of Musashi to 3 deg/sec. Musashi has slightly better rudder shift, though (18.7 vs 22.1 sec iirc) The 155s aren't particularly good, though. They are slow to reload and their fire chance is a meagre 2% higher than that of the 127mm guns which is more than made up for by the latter's higher RoF. Particularly when you note that Yamato's 127mm guns have an even higher rate of fire than Musashi's (12 shots/min vs. 8) Musashi's secondaries can at best be said to be situationally better in cases where the difference between 21 and 25 mm penetration is significant.

    Gamescom codes (stream and others)

Just slap the shark skin on Worcester and go ram someone.

Will you Reset in The Research Bureau

Poll is a bit flawed given that there's no "not interested in the rewards" option for question 2. With that said: I don't have the kind of spare time to regrind lines I've already played through. So for me the answer is a big, fat no.

    Gamescom codes (stream and others)

Isn't that one from last year, though?
  20. The only thing I can see them implementing is some kind of "silent running" mode where you press a key to reduce your submerged detectability but also your speed and maneuverability.

How did you do with the "French Whaling"?

Been too busy changing diapers and not sleeping to bother with the game. I think I got a handful of tokens at the start of the event, that's it.
