There's only so much one can do in a not-fully-upgraded Gneisenau....

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Bumped into two forumers tonight. I played the Yamato, and got to witness @El2aZeR play with his food in the Audacious. I ended up mostly playing the part of speed bump for the majority of the enemy team who lemmingtrained around the easternmost flank, but got some decent damage done before I was sunk. Our team held on to two caps for most of the match, and while some teammates seemed like they were trying desperately to win harder, we ended up with the victory (in no small part due to a certain CV player). Later, I took the Jutland out and bumped into @Puffin_ in the Seattle. Not a particularly good match, our team pretty much just collapsed. But still, nice to meet you -
WG clearly dont get role of CV in naval warfare

Eeeh. Yes, tanks were occasionally taken out with aircraft rockets, but they were far less effective than myth would have you believe. Accuracy was not great, and you could not reliably hit a small target such as a tank with aircraft launched rockets. Military aviation history has a pretty good video on the subject where he dispels a lot of the myths about air power vs. tanks in WW2. -
I don't think you fully realize just how f2p games work... Here's a hint: the whales that do most of the spending need someone to actually play against if the game is going to be worth spending money on for them.

TBH, I preferred the sounds in general before the sound redesign. I still wonder what's up with the IJN DDs sounding like paddle steamers.

And only fire one set of torpedoes during the entire match.

Zis is Russia, da? You make public mistake, you go to gulag. I don't disagree with you, but the reaction wasn't exactly unexpected either. He was an expendable employee who said the really wrong thing at the wrong time. The decision makers behind making the grind as hard as it was are probably exactly the kind of upper management types who decided to fire him and who can't see that they're the ones who set fire to the dumpster in the first place.
-
Are you talking about iEarl or someone else? Because what he initially got flak for was trolling people with how he did it "for free" using 24k doubloons that his employer gave him.

When you're working in a country that doesn't have quite the level of employee protection that you might be used to, you probably should be careful about coming off as a bellend and pouring petrol on the dumpster fire that your bosses are desperately trying to contain...

Dunno. Being able to show less broadside while getting guns on target isn't a bad thing. But it strikes me as something that's situationally useful rather than a straight up buff. It seems like they want her to play more like an open water gunboat rather than making her stealthier and in the process perhaps less characterful. But in that case she might need some tweaks to maneuverability and turret traverse as well to make her effective in that role.

I got your point. But if you seriously think WG are thinking in terms of "well, this gun would behave like this on another platform", you've got some weird conceptions about how they're doing development. The Puerto Rico guns are different from the Alaska guns. Trying to come up with a plausible "real world" explanation for that is pointless when we all know that the difference is purely due to game design reasons.

Right, getting back on track. I'll come right out and say that the poor Prinz Eitel Friedrich has an undeservedly bad reputation. It's very un-German, and in many ways plays like a T6 Hood (another ship which is underrated IMO). You definitely need to use her maneuverability and know how to switch ammo types, but she's fairly effective (and as shown in that Arizona thread, she's actually fairly high up on the list of decently performing T6 BBs). I'm not sure I have any premiums in my port that I consider downright bad. Duke of York.... I don't find her terribly exciting to play, but I get reasonably good results in her. She's another one of those ships that I think is better than her reputation. After it dropped from a supercontainer I've played the Viribus Unitis exactly once, so I can't really comment on it (that game was a win, though). I'd say any premium that works well with a tech tree captain build and doesn't require you to run through hoops to get reasonable performance out of her should not be considered "bad", even if she's not quite on par with other ships. Some ships are "bad" until you reach a certain threshold of captain skills, whether that's worth it or not depends on your situation. E.g. there are limits to how much I can get out of the Atlanta because I don't really have a sufficiently skilled captain available that I can specialize for her. That doesn't make the Atlanta a bad boat, but it means she's worse for me than she is for someone with more play time than me.

Much as I loathe to further derail this thread (imo now that the thread is back where it belongs, the posts pertaining to moderation should be hidden or better yet split out into a separate thread), I want an "about the forum" or "feedback" section. A separate forum (probably enough to have a single one for all language options) where users can discuss and offer input on the forum itself. PMs to a single person is never going to be a good channel for discussing things like forum rules, how those rules are implemented and how the forum is structured (for a forum pertaining to a single product this one is seriously over-segmented, the English-speaking section should probably be pruned down to a total of something around five forum sections).

[Poll]: How many Directives (0-7) will you be able to finish in WoWs v0.8.11 (Christmas / New Year) ?
Uglesett replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Might finish D3 over the weekend, depends on how much time I end up having available to play (and how much time I can be arsed to spend). So I'll answer the poll when I know. Prinz Eitel Friedrich is underrated. She plays a lot like a T6 Hood, and like that ship she's got an undeservedly bad reputation.- 83 replies

Two things: One: This forum definitely needs an "about the forum" section so it's possible to discuss rules and moderation without taking it in other threads. Two: Just because someone uses a video as an illustration in a thread does not mean the thread belongs in the "Videos and Streams" forum. This decision makes no sense whatsoever.

Worse range and reload time, significantly worse dispersion, slightly better fire chance with what's supposed to be the same shell.... You know, the stuff that's just not fluff but actually says something about ingame performance. Giving the same name to different things does not make them the same thing.

Erm... your own illustration shows that they're not

Could be aiming too high and get ricochets off the deck and turrets.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Uglesett replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
After a string of mostly crappy games, this one made a nice one to end the evening -
And the Duke of York grind, to preempt any "but the Gorizia is T7" replies.

There's a reason why "Executive meddling" is a category on tvtropes. But it doesn't matter whose decision it was. Deceptive marketing is deceptive marketing.

Giving "everyone" a T7 ship for far more effort than getting an arguably better T7 ship in the DoY event, and a T10 for a sum of extra cash that was deliberately obfuscated.

And if you care about the future of the game, rewarding WG by purchasing loot boxes is also a bad decision. (But that's not the topic of this thread)
