    Captain question.

You can transfer any commander assigned to a silver ship at any time to any premium ship and back, with no retraining required. He stays specialized to the silver ship. Try to look up these things in the wiki. http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Commander#Commander_Skill_Points You can't redistribute his skill points for free though, outside of certain periods, the next one is from April 1st to 8th I believe, ahead of the upcoming Clan Battle season. So the question is always, do his skills make sense on the other ships? Because obviously you don't want to keep blowing doubloons for the constant retraining. So as long as you don't have many maxed-out commanders, if you can, you build them such that they make sense on as many of your premiums as possible. That way, you are grinding elite commander XP every time you use the premiums. (Or you at least build him for your favourite premium, that you play the most, and grind the silver tech tree ship that is most similar so he fits that as well. And assign him to the latter.)

What happened to the Suggestions thread?

I realize it had become long and unwieldy and awkward and in large parts obsolete. But it doesn't even seem to have been archived?

[UPD 29/4] Clan Battles: "Land of Fire" Season

Seriously? Did I miss something again? It says right in the news announcement you can only get up to 11K steel. And it is not a grind. Sheer perseverance will not get you more steel. Only by advancing to the top league and successfully competing there will you gain the maximum amount. So even if you manage to pull that off, you'd still be 12.5K short.

    Did everyone forget about Mikasa?

I still like the idea of starting to treat all calibers as main guns. That you can aim manually. This would also clearly demonstrate one of the benefits brought about by Dreadnought paradigm shift. Or let her have two sets of main guns to make it slightly less confusing (or more to the point, confusing in a different way.) All you'd need would be the option to bind some free key to toggling between smaller guns and the big turrets. It would be challenging but she's not a ship for beginners anyway.

Musashi broke the game for me.

Several things: She is definitely OP. However, Well how often does that happen? As with all the other Tier IXs, and of course Tier VIIIs, you're usually not top tier. At least that's what it feels like. Then again, Musashi can of course be all the more OP as bottom tier. Because it's basically bringing another Tier X ship to the battle when the other team only has a Tier IX. As long as theirs is not a Musashi. On still another note, all of this is only true while all other factors are equal. I'd rather have a competent FdG on my team than a poor Musashi. Doesn't have to be a super brutal unicorm, just basic competence. Know what they can and cannot do, and stick to it. If it gets too boring, just push more, to challenge yourself. I find myself chasing DDs around more often than I'd like, which probably speaks to a certain lack of patience and to poor positioning (so 180K damage games remain the exception for me.)
  6. I did this: Will do the same poll again soon, a week after the next patch is launched. And keep doing it every quarter or so.

    Your LEAST played premium ships?

Eh what now? She used to have the best AA of all Tier V cruisers. Rework victim? Eh what now? Long range hydro? Blap guns? Badass secondaries?

    Your LEAST played premium ships?

Because more credits and XP? Granted, I failed to look up that it has worse AA before selling the NC (got it by accident out of a Satan lootbox) or I wouldn't have, but if I had a Massachussets, I would not keep both around. ehm, which PvE operation can/could you use Hipper for?

WG - Add more heroic music to the game, thank you

The one single thing I like better about WoT is the intro music. Gives me the chills every time, eyes closed.

    Tons of questions

There are more ways to get coal. For one, I think it is also awarded at certain stages in Ranked, Ranked Sprint and Clan battles. So you should ideally grind at least one good ship for these, that you are comfortable with. However, that is a bit difficult because there is no telling which tier the next Ranked and Ranked Sprint events will be held on. (you can get a bit of advance warning via reddit or this thread here:) Clan Battles will be on Tier X with very high confidence, but you only need to get your hands on a Tier VIII ship because then you automatically get a changing selection of rental Tier X ships. So then all you need to do is find a clan that actually a) regularly plays Clan Battles and b) will let you play in a rental ship (they can't carry camo, so they have a disadvantage of sorts). Also you need to get a headset and install the clan's voice com software of choice (Discord, sometimes also Teamspeak, possibly some Clans even use Mumble). The biggest amount of coal can probably be obtained at the end of the year / start of next year, through the Snowflakes event, which WG will probably repeat once again. All you have to do is collect as many ships as possible, and play win a single battle (even Co-op will do). You can even buy the ships during the event, play the single co-op battle and sell them again right away. So if you're unwilling to buy more port slots, which are heavily discounted several times throughout the year, you can just grind a lot of silver to have ready and on hand by the time the event comes around. The higher the ship tier, the greater the amount of coal, and for Tier XI and X, you got steel the last time (Premium ships already at Tier VIII I think.) (edit: compare https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/update-0712-holidays/#snowflakes) Regarding the ship selection in the Arsenal, my standard answer used to be that you shouldn't buy them for coal if you could get them for money in the shop (or for doubloons from the tech tree, which amounts to the same thing) because it used to be such that coal could get you things you could not get for money, which was of course mainly signal flags. Also unique commanders. That is not quite the case any more since you can also buy flags for silver credits these days. However, they are incredibly expensive, especially for a Free-to-play player (F2P) considering the amount of time you need to put in to grind these amounts. Let's face it, time is money and WG's whole entire business model is built on having loads of F2P players spending their time on WG's servers. From the current selection, the only one I think is worth it is Jean Bart. Campbelltown is really bad and only for Englishmen and history nerds. Aigle - also very questionable. Yubari is kinda nice but costs next to nothing in the shop. And the upcoming Wichita will just be a slightly worse Baltimore. I myself did buy the October Revolution for coal, it is nice and will become even better with the upcoming launch of a full Russian BB line. But in hindsight, I should just have blown about 20 Euros (even though that is a bit pricey for a Tier V ship) and used the coal to buy signal flags instead. By the time you save up the necessary amount of coal, you should be able to judge for yourself whether Jean Bart is for you, or if maybe Salem is more interesting (she is "just" a tankier Des Moines with worse radar but can be very good, especially in Clan Battles). And you should hopefully have picked up sufficient skill to at least have a vague inkling why you then suck so much playing these high tier ships, which you probably will, at least initially. No offense, it just does not come easy to most of us. This assessment is a bit fluid and will probably change over the course of the year, depending on how the game itself changes, which has been in a fairly chaotic state of unpredictable flux ever since the carrier rework. Also it will depend on what the ships will be like that WG will no doubt keep adding to, and possibly removing from the Arsenal, and what tiers events like Ranked and Ranked Sprint will be held on. And mine is not the final word either. For example you could also have gotten the Musashi until a month or so ago, and I'd never have even considered buying that ship over Jean Bart. But since mine fell out of a Santa lootbox, I now have both, and Musashi turns out to be one of my best ships while I totally suck in Jean Bart most of the time. YMMV. WG keeps adding new promo "marathons" with such "Fremium" ships as final prizes after long and exhausting grinds, and they have "always" done so in the past. Smith, Vampire, Duke of York, Aigle, Indianapolis, Yubari, Cossack and others were all promo ships, either initially or at some later stage. The usual pattern seems to be that they can be bought in the shop at the same time, then disappear for a while, and if they are not very overpowered (OP), they usually put in another appearance in the premium shop at a later date. But I don't know that any one of them has ever become available again as a Freemium promo ship a second time. Currently, you still have a chance to get Exeter, which is nice, if a bit squishy. Supercontainers (SC) drop very rarely, and ship drops from them are rarer still. Hundredths of a percent of a chance. Edit: However, there is an event where you get an SC for every Tier X ship you have, I think it may be around Halloween... If you want premium ships, maybe wait for the next Santa Lootbox sale. They are a terrible and amoral marketing technique but on the other hand, I got a yuge load, though not many of those rare OP ones that of course everybody really wants, but the ones I got were basically all half price or less. In any event, never buy a premium ship at full price in the shop. Or at least not without a very compelling reason (like wanting it badly for Ranked.) There will come a discount, and you will feel like a sucker. I don't think that's how it works. It saves the last type of shell you used in that particular ship. The last battle in that ship may have been a while ago and you forgot that you switchedd back then. These are among the most difficult shots you can take. The first thing would be to consider easier targets whenever you can, until you have had more practice. Like ships in a turn. Those are fairly easy to hit because their course is very predictable and they are locked in by the rudder shift. You just need to "allow them" to turn into your shells. Ships kiting diagonally away, you need to aim above the water line while giving less lead. Below the waterline with less lead for ships pushing into you diagonally. You can try to visualize it this way: If they were fleeing straight away, at right angles to your course, or pushing in, you would need to give only the smallest amount of lead. You'd aim directly in front of their bow (or stern, if they were reversing). If they were fully broadsiding, you'd have to give the maximum amount of lead while aiming directly at the waterline (or higher if you want to hit higher.) All you now have to figure out in the diagonal situation is how much less lead to give and how much higher to aim. It takes practice and sometimes ranging shots.

Interesting post about how is WG balancing ships!

You see, of course I value the incisive input that you, one of my most valued forum members have gained by a cursory glance at my stats. And I am more than grateful for you sharing it in such a well-phrased and constructive manner. That's of course also because I am so highly interested in you as a person, and not just any person, but a person - dare I say it? that I so greatly respect, nay admire for their sheer wisdom, prowess, and the near erotic appeal of their polished prose. If, alas! from afar. <sigh> (not to mention for the sheer girth of their genitalia.)

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

NOW I've got it! What CVs really really need! Are you ready? They need - their own escort AA destroyer! Like a consumable (but active all the time of course)! They could have their own tiny little Monaghan or Kidd or Gearing slave bot ship by their side! Fully automated of course. The actual consumable, unlike the fighters, would be not so much the DD but the DD attack. You could trigger it to either go find an enemy ship of your selection (be it a charging DD or anybody else, all across the map...) or use its defensive AA consumable against an enemy plane squad you select! Like a tiny little yapping pinscher dog. That you have secretly trained to be an obedient attack dog! Seriously you guys, how great would that be? *EDIT* Try to not make any inappropriate remarks in your posts, please. _Teob_

No that's just because I don't give a runny excrement about stats. It's called "normal self-esteem". You get it only if your mummy really loves you though. If not, then you later become a stat-shamer tryer.

Why dont High Tier Battlecruiers have torpedoes ?

I guess it's for the same reason that almost no BB in the game has torpedoes, when historically, they all had some. As did all those low tier protected cruisers.

    Your LEAST played premium ships?

Well let's put it this way, I haven't even upgraded Le Terrible since it fell out of that Satan crate. And it feels as though I have taken out Gascogne, Alabama and Roma fewer times than Exeter... but that's only partially because Tier VIII matchmaking is so poor that it makes these ships largely very unattractive. The other part is I have had other things on my mind, particularly focusing really hard on unlocking more Tier X cruisers while avoiding game modes that are potentially unfun because they have carriers in them as best I could, in preparation of the upcoming clan battles season.

Ah so all is well and perfectly legit with Kitakaze, Harugumo, Conquerer... that's really good to know. Phew. What a weight off of my chest. This is the absolute Mueller report of WG balancing. No seriously.

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

I so don't care about this predicament of a class of ships that shouldn't be in the game in the first place.

Submarine gameplay and mechanics - what would you like to see?

Also just imagine if ships sunk in the shallows could actually block a passage. I mean let's face it, WG just has long since lost the right to use the argument of not wanting to promote campy gameplay, when so many elements they introduced did exactly that, as usually predicted by a great many people beforehand.

    Armada: HMS Exeter

Fun and well-balanced, though I suspect she's too squishy for new and casual players. It's a good thing she had her smoke removed prior to release or she would definitely be OP.

Submarine gameplay and mechanics - what would you like to see?

In all seriousness, the slow speed wouldn't be much more of an issue than with other very slow ships which are nonetheless popular in certain circles, like low- and mid- tier US BBs all the way up to Colorado, or the two Tier III US cruisers, or even Katori. The difference being that you wouldn't get shot on the way into position because you'd be stealthier than the stealthiest DD, and if spotted by aircraft, you could always dive. Submarines would fit the whole game much better than aircraft carriers conceptually and they would be a lot easier to balance. I think they would also be more popular, both as a class to play and as a class to play against. The final puzzle piece would then be mines, and possibly mine-laying subs.

Well, at least we came top three on the losing team... forum honor is served.

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

The Atago must have been AFK for a quarter of an hour at least. Enemy FDG sailed right past the limit of her concealment for about four minutes, then just as he found her, the battle timed out. AND MY )(/&%(/&$ CLIENT REFUSES TO SAVE REPLAYYYYS! Congratulations to your Solo Warrior Award, @Bouncer777! My first premium ship, Graf Spee

Well I just hope you didn't actually buy her, because there are ships in about the same price range that I'd still consider just objectively better. Just three Euros more and it's a T-61, I mean... especially since you said you did enjoy DDs. And Monaghan might be better yet, at least as long as the meta stays this carrier-heavy (although she does need a fairly high skill point US DD commander to realize her full potential.) It's a good thing WG lowered the price a lot, so Spee doesn't have to suffer the comparison to Scharnhorst any more. (Outside of the times when Scharnhorst is on discount.) But still... Molotov... De Grasse... Anshan, if you're so inclined... and if the elite commander XP is gushing out of your ears in a really strong, pulsating jet, even Perth and Duca. Although they do admittedly all lack a bit of the history nerd collector X-factor. (Which brings me to the apropos of the day, the remains of Spee's capsized, proud sister ship Admiral Scheer are actually buried under what by now has become a profane parking lot in Kiel, coordinates 54° 19′ 15,3″ N, 10° 9′ 48,2″ E.)
  25. FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor

    British CVs Arc & Collection

So now I can finally exchange those Crown into Florins to use the Florins to buy something I actually care about (signals mostly). Which I appreciate a lot. Really. It's a good and customer friendly solution. However. The implementation in the Arsenal. *edit* The exchange rate is 5 Crowns for 40 Florins. And since WG still has not implemented the most basic online shopping feature of adding more than one item to a shopping cart of some kind (OK the concept has only been around for what, 20 years?), and since I now have 365 or so crowns, and since it's three clicks for one purchase, that's just 220 mouse clicks. But they think it's really necessary for some completely unfathomable reason to rename the Arsenal and call it Armory as of the next patch. I repeat: *edit* OK, granted, the word "Arsenal" does carry a stronger implication of some kind of commercial transaction, however vague it might be. So that will be subverting expectations a bit less and be marginally more accurate in that particular respect. I guess.
