Free Captain Skill Point Redistribution?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor posted a topic in General Discussion
Any idea when there will finally be another one? Few things have ticked me off about this game as much in recent memory as when they did away with that for clan players. In fact that was the second-most annoying thing after the CV rework, especially since their paltry excuse was the CV rework. -
Any info on silver ships credit discount for Anniversary?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Hades_warrior's topic in General Discussion
I might be mistaken but I cannot recall there ever having been a credit discount for silver ships greater than the regular clan player discount for high tier ships. And event discounts did not stack with the clan discount in the past. So even if there should be one, it will only make a difference for mid-tier ships, and the difference will be fairly small, considering the lower prices of these ships. So there is no need to postpone the purchase of Tier IX and X tech tree ships just because you're waiting for some event discount. It can make sense to wait with the upgrading, there are discounts for upgrades a couple times each year. Fully upgrading a high tier ship costs 6.875.000 credits, so a 50% discount will save loads of cash, especially if you have several of them to upgrade. Sadly though, there just has been an upgrade discount a few weeks ago so the next one is probably not before November. -
THE CVs HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!1 There was a time when I'd have loved the concept, or even low tier Operations. But with the state of things in the low tiers these days...

What would be the top pick for tier X ranked
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to luokailk's topic in General Discussion
Stalin, some carrier, and any ship that can might still be able to deal with those two (until they are nerfed, which will happen almost instantly <cough>Kleber<cough>Venezia<cough><cough>) -
Free Captain Skill Point Redistribution?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Well it is about time to establish the fact among the player base that any game changes shouldn't even come into it when it comes to redistributing the skill points the players have ground out. Rather, experimenting with captain skills is one of the last major sources of enjoyment in this game, especially the more premium/special ships people have. And SO much cheaper for WG than developing new content. -
Update 0.9.7 – German Carriers: Part 2
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
The best thing about this patch is that it finally brought the option to change consumable hotkeys. Many, many years too late, but better late than never. And the best thing is these settings are stored on the server side, so no need to reset them if anything untoward should happen to the local client. That said however, it brings me to tghe not-so-nice side of this patch. It is once again exceedingly buggy. The client cannot be left running, it has to be restarted at least every hour or so, or gameplay slows down, lots of juddering sets in and finally the client crashes. I think this is called "memory bleed"? Whatever. It has plagued many patches to varying degrees and apparently was never quite gone, or else it is back with a vengeance. But even so, even if you restart in time, the client keeps crashing, and it keeps crashing the whole (windows 7) system. And after these crashes, as of the current patch, everything - all the settings - are reset to default values and I have to reconfigure the whole client again! Here is a list of the settings I had to do over and over and over again in the past weeks because of this: - turn off music in port and battle - reset all the volume levels (there really are too many volume levels, not enough test buttons, not enough description of which sounds are affecte by which slider, and little of this would be necessary if there had been any real audio engineers hired to do a good BASIC audio mix.) - reset voiceover modification - I don't even bother with most graphics settings any more anyway but reset reduced fire and flame effects - reset to dynamic crosshair - turn off collision avoidance - turn on alt interface - turn on team line-ups - turn on reload timers - turn on training room scenarios - reset consumable 3 to z key (the game should REALLY be able to autodetect a German keyboard layout and do this automatically!) - rest track object to y key (see above) - turn on compact carousel four rowsd and reset ship ordering - Re-enlarge minimap - reset minimap water transparency - reset all the minimap circles I need and all the other minimap settings, ship names etc. FOR EVERY SINGLE SHIP I play! - reset any torps to narrow spread - reset Badobest side panels mod settings It gets really old to do all that and more several times a week. If you can't develop a stable client and keep it crashing, just store as many of those settings server-side as humanly possible. -

Nerf on Japanese Gunboats ?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to StalkerSoC's topic in General Discussion
It is beyond ridiculous that these things should have magic shells that magically penetrate armour as though they were 50% larger in caliber and four times as heavy. I don't come here for a fantasy game. Why not have dragons next, or dungeons for that matter. -
Premium ships worth buying? (just starting the game)
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Ak7sh4's topic in Newcomers' Section
Wargaming broke the game with the aircraft carrier rework. These are incompatible with the core concept of the game and can't be fixed but they won't accept that. Don't buy a thing until you've ground up to tier VIII and are still ok with it. By then they'll probably break it some more with submarines. -
The one good thing until now seems to be that the Spin-Off challenges wash a lot of competent players into the Narai operation to harvest those flags. There were still casuals but no fails so far today.
-
I get the distinct impression the game sometimes resets the port filter of its own accord when switching between tasks and back.
-
Missing sound effects. I still get the "stunned" sort of Privat-Ryan-ish noise when receiving citadels or heavy damage but many other times the actual shell impact sound just doesn't play, for light and heavy damage both. Airplane engines, mainly hostile ones. Possibly others. And the port carousel has repeatedly set itself from 4 to 3 lines.

Rename “massive AA fire” to “AA barrage”
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to howardxu_23's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, I've given up the fight for decent phrasing, wording and translation a long time ago. The game is replete with examples which have been pointed out - and ignored - time and time again, especially when they themselves asked for feedback. They keep calling any kinds of numbers "stats" when 80% of the numbers they are referring to are "specifications" or "data" that have nothing to do with statistics. Enemies and friendlies alike are called "targets" in the voice commands. They call it "Maschinenboost" in German when nobody in the 1940s knew the word "boost" in Germany and the accurate expression would have been something along the lines of "Notleistung". The list goes on for quite a stretch. It's just way too low on WG's list of priorities, to avoid putting it in a more truthful way that would no doubt be viewed as "unconstructive". -
Will submarines eliminate the destroyer as a scout and cap contender?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Procrastes's topic in General Discussion
Edit Submarines will be a complete, regurgitated, infuriating dog's breakfast. Or at least WG is fully intent on turning them into that, mictitating right in the face of what we laughingly still call "historical accuracy" in a thick, healthy stream.- 77 replies

This is what this game is capable of
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Nufessa's topic in General Discussion
Yeah three more of the same guns with enhanced HE pen and hard hitting AP shells, and being better in many many other respects - it sure is a burden. But that is just the way the cookie gets completely stomped on and obliterated. Of course it is! #RIGGED! https://replayswows.com/replay/61288#stats -
Is World of Warships better or worse ....
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Sprockett's topic in General Discussion
"Interaction" lol I have no idea who came up with that ridiculous word. I sure made no such remark ever. What I did opine at various points is that automated game mechanics, such as AA, do not make for a fun & engaging gaming experience. Their only point is to make surface players feel a little less exploited. But sure, do bunch all "CV haters" (=86% of players) into one big undifferentiated lump. That'll help your credibility no end. WG demonstrated that if anything, they only even pretend to listen to player wishes when they get a massive shitstorm, and seeing that they only pretended to abandon the NTC while in fact basically implementing it 1:1 as originally intended, I'm not even sure that shitstorm wasn't orchestrated, or intentionally provoked, respectively. And my only demand re: carriers has been they be removed from the game as a playable class, or else WG makes sure - I don't care how - that they only crop up in max 10-15% of random battles. You do you, sweetie. -
are you serious with ranks...totally manipulated

Is World of Warships better or worse ....
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Sprockett's topic in General Discussion
Since the vast majority of players very openly hates CVs, almost every thread is a CV hater thread. Disguise or no. Though there's no need for disguise. -
Actually, from my DD perspective, it is bad luck if anything, though luck of any kind has in fact nothing to do with it. And 1400 damage is of course a massive chunk of DD which should not be guaranteed in the way it very clearly is, for all but the most unskilled / least trained CV players. IOW thanks for playing.

Is World of Warships better or worse ....
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Sprockett's topic in General Discussion
It's clearly worse because although the RTS carriers were basically just as toxic, broken and incompatible as the rework carriers, at least they were so difficult that you only got very very few carrier games most of the time. Like, about a one in ten chance. Also I think mechanics wise, the game was easier for the casual players, particularly because there were also fewer HE spammers and radars, and those that were there, were less powerful. Also there were simply fewer ships to keep track of, whereas today, the casuals don't even know what they're up against half of the time. And the majority of players will always remain casuals. -
Chieftain Talks: the Outbreak of World War II – the Battle for Poland Trailer
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
So when is WG finally going to release the Chieftain Special about the Panzer I that was filmed last October already? It's beyond ridiculous by now. -
It's greater garbage than Aigle. Which is saying something. Because it has garbage Aigle guns but no smoke.

Twitch Personal assignment combat mission "No Buffs" - Stage I requirement is to gain 5K XP in Tier II-IV ships in "a" Random, Co-Op or Scenario battle. However, there are of course no Scenarios for low Tier ships. There are Tier VII scenarios though but the third stage, which is restricted to Tier VII-IX ships, is sadly only for Random and Ranked battles. Edit: Also the icon for the Stage I completion of the mission failed to come up on the battle results screen, although the first stage was indeed completed and the rewards added.
