0.9.9.0 unlisted change - constant fps drops

What you describe used to happen to me when I was still on low bandwidth internet and there was a download or something using up too much of that limited bandwidthn while playing.

    please give us an alternative!

I've been suggesting for some time we just crowdfund/crowdsource our own different democratic community ship game. People keep saying it can't be done until it suddenly is being done. Just like organized player protest against CVs.

    Shells STILL falling short

    1) It is NOT the desync bug. Very obviously. 2) Customer Service never does anything but give me standard pre-fab text blocks with boilerplate excuses. Plus blame it on any mods I happen to use. So no. Not gonna do WG's work FOR them, just gonna [edited] about it online. It's the only thing that has a remote chance of incentivising them into doing their homework anyway. Just ask all the interns and other non-sound-engineers they put on the "Audio rework".

    Shells STILL falling short

Yeah that's a super old one though. Has been in the game ever since closed beta or something, I seem to recall being told by some boomers way back when bringing that one up for the first time.

When did they nerf Smolensk shell ballistics?!

Smol shells definitely get A LOT more floaty at long ranges than I remember. When did they do this? The patch notes for 9.8 and 9.9 make no mention of it. To be sure, it was long past time to correct this BS. Now remove the magical shells that do eight times the normal damage from the Japanese gunboat DDs, instead give them Defensive AA and quadruple their continuous AA damage, and presto, we are golden.

When did they nerf Smolensk shell ballistics?!

I used the thing in clan battles a few seasons back and could easily farm targets with the range mod, which is now all but useless.

Update 0.9.9. U.S. Battleships in Early Access

Wargaming have given us many many ports with super annoying sounds but this new one absolutely takes the cake with the constant factory noises, rattling and honking. What kind of meth addict comes up with that stuff? Get help please! It's not worth it.

The snowflake/free container events, please stop doing them

Duh because the goal is not to dole out freebies but to maximize profit. This is done by promoting the two co-equal pillars of the business model, only one of which is fleecing paying customers. The other one, which is just as important, is playing time spent by users populating WG's servers.

Share of real ships for each nation

I am actually currently working on some colour-coded spreadsheets in order to visualize all that. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RcJUbDRqojYudeXZd5YVLKdXLO3HP3cCuNXWhFWLgQc/edit#gid=0 The issue though is where to draw the line since WG, in the tech tree, are always giving a "Year of Design", even for total fantasy botes (not even paper ships) that maybe were once "designed" by some eleven-year-old schoolboy on the back of a notebook while not paying attention in class, like Kremlin, but not by any stretch ever by anyone approaching the status of "naval designer".

TIer 10 D/D Advice - Shima vs Khaba

All of them of course. Just think about it, you might get there eventually. If not, I don't care either cause you are irrelevant to me.

Thanks for proving all my points. Sure. Calling BS when other people like you challenge my skill is my prerogative under these circumstances.

TIer 10 D/D Advice - Shima vs Khaba

Well enough that I don't feel the need to hide my stats. Unlike you. But I play this game for fun, which Shima is not, in the vast majority carrier battles.

TIer 10 D/D Advice - Shima vs Khaba

That may be true for rare, exceptionally talented players like yourself but not for any normal ones. And super frustrating when the usual breed of CV players just blaps you as per usual, needing neither special skill nor talent to do so but just casually "left-clicks" to swat you like a bug as we used to say in the RTS days. I got a carrier in 43.3% of Shimakaze games and the carrier players do not need to be in the uper 40% percentile to completely outclass players of any other ship type.

TIer 10 D/D Advice - Shima vs Khaba

Shima is not "challenging" but "outclassed" and "obsolete" with "no counterplay".

    Which Coal Ship to Get?

Yoshino plays nothing like these two. It is an unwieldy unstealthy extreme long range spammer. I'd prefer Thunderer and Georgia to all of your options. I'd prefer even more to blow it all on Papa Papa flags and get a Free XP ship, Smaland, Alaska, Ägir in descending order of desireableness. Desireability? Whatevs. OR you can split it between Kuznetsov, Papa Papa flags and Commander XP flags, and use that to fast-track the grind to the Tier XI Kremlin Combo. OR fast-track the grind to Halland and grief weak CV players.

TIer 10 D/D Advice - Shima vs Khaba

Neither is any good these days because of the CV rework. You get loads of carrier battles and you're either just fodder or don't get anything done. Buy them for the Snowflaking (to gain Supercontainers) but better not play them, or at any rate play them only in events where there are no aircraft carriers. Especially the Shimakaze which would otherwise be great if you like torping. The only worthwhile Tier X DDs in the current meta are Halland, Smaland and Daring. The former two have - barely - adequate AA and the latter can at least put in a disappearing act whenever it needs to. If your positioning is not stupid.

A Hard Day's Work Ahead - in screenshots

Indeed. Especially since it basically meant paying for not playing a Tier IX ship when those are generally fun and good and get super few carrier battles. Which is why I've been choosing the far more sensible path of blowing a few more Spring Sky camos on muh Brindisi this morning... a series of battles netting actually more Free XP than Ship XP... really fun ship, too, once you get the hang of not rushing the nearest Kremlin and getting one-shotted within 30 seconds!

Probably more apt to call it "First World Luxury Distraction Pseudo Problems", all things considered... BUT HEY.

A Hard Day's Work Ahead - in screenshots

I think it is. The question now is, do I blow my coal on a Pommern, which I don't really want, just to get two more gift containers, or do I blow it on a Marceau, which I want even less but it would get me another Supercontainer? Somehow the SCs still get me totally hyped, even though they have been completely nerfed and rarely ever drop any ships. So the latter choice would set me up for even more, worse and prolonged disappointment. It's like choosing between meth and cocaine really.

How 2 spend 2 million free xp ?

Yeah it's a bit obscure since the character is called differently in some translations. In German, he's called "Michel" for some reason... which is what I actually call the ship in my mind... the voice of his father screaming MICHEEEEEEL!!!1 while chasing him to give him another good hiding for one of his deeply misunderstood charitable endeavours indelibly etched into my debilitating brain...

    It's Emil of Lönneberga!

    Tear of the DDs.

Used to hate it, don't even recall why now... it is not so bad and anyway, all these minor gripes pale in comparison to the CV rework. Take epicenter over a carrier battle any day of the week.

    Coal ships change?

Dude don't blow anything valuable (steel, coal, real money, free xp, research tokens, whatever) on mid tier ships. It's like paying to be griefed, because of the aircraft carrier sitch. Of the current crop, these ones are worth it: Alaska - super ship, very OP, Tier IX gets the fewest carrier battles. Georgia Ohio Slava Stalingrad Possibly Ägir - I don't have it myself yet but it keeps giving me loads of trouble, was also nasty in Ranked I seem to recall. Seems ridiculously tanky and super hard to destroy. Thunderer Småland Colbert if that is your cup of tea Bourgogne Possibly Jean Bart but you need to really know what you're doing with that ship and the turrets are squishy. Of the doubloons ships, Haida and Lo Yang (for Ranked) and maybe borderline Massachusetts. BUT I doubt you can play this game long enough to pay for it in reward doubloons won by playing the game. So that would involve giving WG money, to which I am opposed because of the carrier sitch. Same goes for Friesland which I was lucky enough to be able to grind in both my accounts back when, as well as Kidd.
  25. What you do is you specialize the Captain for a silver tech tree ship and then use it also on any Premium ships the build works on. In this context I'd like to point out one thing that had escaped me for maybe my first year or so, which is that it is possible to complete commander retraining with Elite Commander XP and also Free XP. It is done by going to the Commander Skills tab and then clicking the little "plus" button [+] that you would otherwise use to increase his skill point count with Elite/Free XP. This is one reason why it is so important to max out at least one commander as soon as humanly possible. Then you use that guy regularly on as many ships as possible for extra gain through the daily win bonus and any kind of boosters. Once you have this regular source of Elite Commander XP, even if it is just a slow trickle,. you can then not just max out other commanders quicker but also speed up retraining without spending many resources, including your playing time which is also a fundamental resource exploited by WG's business model. It lets you retrain a commander by blowing 200k credits, which buys half the necessary Commander XP, and just filling up the rest with Elite Commander XP. For the 17-pt captain in the example, that's just 75k XP which is not too bad. A 10-pointer goes for just 12.5k.
