premium Avast Ye- Bring back all Premium ships and have a 2020 Christmas Sale!
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to HawaiianCook777's topic in General Discussion
People may scoff at that but I personally know several players who spent several hundred Euros at least, in multiple years, because they wanted a Belfast so badly, or or some other ship from the poison box. And were it not for the CV rework, odds are very good I would currently be doing it again. I seem to recall Claus Kellerman quoting an estimate they sold some two or five million Xmas containers a year in World of Tanks. No idea where he got it from and it must be a lot less in WoWs because of the smaller player base alone, but those are the dimensions WG is operating in. -
Why aren't we allowed to make threads about CVs?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to geschlittert's topic in General Discussion
Oh but we are allowed now. Haven't you noticed? There must have been half a dozen or more CV threads lately that were not folded into the big ghetto thread which hardly anybody ever reads any more. https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/143969-the-sheer-amount-of-money-wg-could-make-but-doesnt/ -
They were naive and predictably handed WG an easy win. But everybody always said it was completely impossible to get lots of clans to unite in protest. And then it happened. I think it is possible to build on that, and I think it is the only thing going on at this time that a protest organisation can be built on. It's either that or build a completely new organisation, which would be a lot more difficult and also prone to repeat some of the mistakes that the CB boycott thing might not. Lord knows they paid for their mistakes.

Pffff... if anything, they maybe pulled back a little, possibly due to that stink created a few months ago when Flamu complained about being shadow-banned by their lap dogs.

The only thing that can bring about change for the better is organised player protest. It will not occur unless we organise it. And we cannot use WG platforms like this forum or the official reddit to organise it. https://discord.gg/f7KPxPcN

Yeah nobody at WG will care about that. -

Hypothesis about the Makarov / Satan Crates shitstorm
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor posted a topic in General Discussion
So we have a "scam" that Wargaming pulled in more or less the same form every year ever since introducing Satan Lootboxes. Only in the past years, the best-known streamers and youtubers celebrated the event despite the insincerity and the money-grabbing, opening dozens, even hundreds of crates live on their streams, showing themselves to be super happy with the results, uploading all that to youtube. To the extent that at least one of them completely ignored an event that, in contrast to the shortlist hypothesis, absolutely 100% proved that the mechanics of the ship drops did not work the way they were advertised in the rules. (The shortlist hypothesis is based on probabilities, which makes it very likely, but you still cannot prove a negative, I'm sorry to say.) For the details on that 2019 fail, I refer you to my earlier post in the big thread. https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/144252-santa-containers-rigged-wg-chooses-your-santa-gift-ship/?do=findComment&comment=3716446 The biggest and most important thing that changed this year is that the most important and well-known streamers chose to make a big meal out of this unprovable "scam," wheras they, and everybody else that mattered, happily ignored definitive proof of irregularities in the past. Coincidentally, this occured just in time to turn the stream of the Verizon Tournament into a sewer of mockery and abuse. It sure does look like a powerplay to me.- 64 replies

Hypothesis about the Makarov / Satan Crates shitstorm
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
To be fair, Ichase did it off his "press" account of course, spending virtual doubloons only, for his useless videos. But there sure are people buying hundreds upon hundreds of these crates, make no mistake. -
When and why did WG break the autopilot?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
It does not even always happen, only sometimes. Could be only on certain ships. -
Hypothesis about the Makarov / Satan Crates shitstorm
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
It proves no such thing. Call me a stickler for semantics but you cannot sell your doubloons for actual money, and they forbid you from selling your account, via their TOS. This precludes any actual profit. All it proves is if you throw enough money at the crates, you get a lot of premium ships, amounting to an overall discount, compared to their "regular" prices, as well as a discount on doubloons. But your 2700 dollars remain gone forever. -

Hypothesis about the Makarov / Satan Crates shitstorm
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Organised, effective player protest. https://discord.gg/stSYVWy7 If that doesn't do it, nothing will. But if we do not organise it, then it will not materialize of its own. -
What about regular ships credits discount?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Anthoniusii's topic in General Discussion
I do not recall such a high credit discount for high tier ships and I heavily doubt there ever will be one. At most you get 15% for high tier ships in discount events, and that is exactly what clan players get anyway. And they never stack. So you may as well buy it whenever it is convenient. -

Hypothesis about the Makarov / Satan Crates shitstorm
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Everything is politics. "... the 'outrage industry', self-appointed arbiters of the public good" -
Quite apart from the fact that in the past, everybody who wasn't dropped on their heads as a child simply accepted the fact that you first needed to buy as many crates as necessary to fill your port with mid tier garbage before having a shot at getting any interesting drops, let alone rare ones. But there were (and presumably still are) also the players who then immediately sold their Krasny Kryms or Huanghes or Yahagis or what have you, because they didn't like them, then proceeded to buy more crates in hopes of getting better drops.

blacklist? what the [edited]is that?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to HMS_Edinburgh_C16's topic in General Discussion
It makes little sense to blacklist CV players since only if you see their chat messages, can you effectively report them for chat abuse. By which I mean report them after they actually sent chat messages, let alone naughty ones. Which in turn is the only time any players actually get sanctioned by Wargaming. By which I mean, the only punishment they ever seem to mete out is a chat ban, and they can easily auto-check if the player you complained about did even send a chat message. And they do actually seem to have a short <cough> check list <cough><cough> of naughty words in chat messages. -
Snowflakes ❄ REWARDS
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to HMS_LIVERPOOL's topic in General Discussion
Don't worry. Since they're just the small Satan crates, the Makarov is not even on that particular "shortlist" (but on the one for the medium crates.) It's at best London, De Grasse or VU for you F2P plebs. And although the drop rates for ships and premium time seem to be much better than ever (https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/144312-preliminary-look-at-santas-crates-statistics-collected-by-our-forumite-black_falcon120/ ), 5% is still so low that statistically, you'd need to open 20 of those boxes before getting a single ship. So you'd need to have almost every single one of the 25 Tier X ships from the tech tree in your port for that to happen once. Statistically. IOW you can hope all you want, but if you want actual change, you need to make it happen. Nobody else will do that for you. And the only way to make it happen is for players to organise and stage effective protest. -
Santa containers "rigged": WG Chooses Your Santa Gift Ship
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to wot_2016_gunner's topic in General Discussion
And why would they? All the artificially generated outrage notwithstanding (https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/144296-hypothesis-about-the-makarov-satan-crates-shitstorm/), they will still make a fortune off these boxes, server population will continue to rise, the game will remain financially viable and players will still not organise for some protest that would actually be effective. At most they'll vent a little on the social media. That will restore their mental balance, make them feel heard even though they are not, release some dopamine into their brains and off they go. -
You have disabled comments in that poll, so people can only vote. Thus, with forumites unable to contribute, it fails to garner attention any longer and must simply have "slid back" many pages.

Carrier feature request: Remove the ability to detonate surfaceships
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
It would be a good first step to give carriers the "ability" to detonate like every other frikkin ship. And a good follow-up to let them take fire damage like BBs and supercruisers instead of those ridiculous 5-second blips. -
The only conceivable path to change is organised player protest.
-
Could ANYTHING be more on brand for Wargaming? I give you the 4,000 employee strong "tech company" that doesn't even use decent writers or translators, let alone quality assurance.
-
Typical non-apology apology. It's like using an offensive slur and then (not) "apologizing" by saying "I'm sorry you feel offended by that term" or some such. Insincerity, thy name is Wargaming. But you all should have known that for at least three years.
