what wrong with this game!?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to MNR1978's topic in General Discussion
It would be much quicker to ennumerate what is not wrong with this game. (The visuals and core concept.) -
Cpt Skill rework is a big fat cruiser nerf on top of everything else
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
#Bwahahahahaha! WG know the value of your time spent on their servers even more precisely than you yourself do. After all, it is the second pillar of their whole business model. It is exactly as important to them as money spent on their "products"; they cannot exist without it. Your time is the air they breathe. They are like player time vampires; every fibre of their being bent on extracting every last drop of it from you. Rest assured they have spreadsheets and algorithms calculating its value to several decimal places. And as with everything else, there will be no refunds. This policy is enforced for them by the Grim Reaper himself. -
If you assume they're always aiming at you but don't use PT, then there will definitely be times where you're spotted and deem it too risky to shoot when it actualyl is not. Because after all, you think somebody is already aiming at you in that moment and trying to kill you and you need to go dark. Your own logic. PT lets you farm more damage.
-
That is the most awful piece of advice you know. It means you could be doing a lot more damage whenever they just don't but you refuse to shoot anyway because of this flawed assumption. Also it does not tell you when they torp you.

Yep. Some people get excitement out of collecting bottle tops, too! EDIT: Or from pulling the wings off flies, for that matter. -

Well, the good news is they seem, with these changes, to be approaching the "realism mode" that so many players used to ask for. In a way. -
It will cost 1.200.000 "Elite Captain XP" to upgrade from 19->21 Captain points in upcoming change...
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
There will be at least one super major difference which, in light of this exorbitant cash grab, has now become even more critical than before: 21-pointers make 100% Elite Commander XP. -

FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
This. Don't ever call them incompetent. They are highly conniving when it comes to cashing in. Any incompetence just comes with the greed; they refuse to spend any more money on the development and day-to-day business like writing, editing, proof-reading and translating than they absolutely have to. -
WoWS like an open world game?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Seepheerd's topic in General Discussion
Not so much open world but I have been suggesting a crossover with turn-based strategy games, for clan battles. I think that was back when the Puerto Rico "disaster" was on. Or the Research Buro shitstorm. It would just make sense. Which is why WG will never go for it of course. -

No, you need to grind mainly credits. -

FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Greedy bastards doesn't even begin to describe WG. This is the most blatant cash grab since Puerto Rico. Once again, have my spreadsheet "template" to calculate the cost: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IucYwAmu1-6s7qU2P0jMlYmT3dHOybmgttW1Kanlmkg/edit#gid=2125998039 ICYMI this is about the worst thing WG has ever done to the WoWs player base since the CV rework. In terms of the number of players affected and how badly they will hurt, it even tops that. And all in the name of cash. In any event, it is FAR worse than the fake outrage over the so-called Santagate or whatever. Everybody is free to choose if they buy Santa crates or not, so if they fall for that WG scam after all that WG has done over the years, in this day and age of freely accessible information, then it is largely those bloody fool's own godam fault. But this Captain skill rework - players have no choice whatsoever that would allow them to avoid the hurt. But will the streamers and youtubers be stoking any kind of similar outrage? I think not. Will there be videos filled with pretense and grief and leadership? I think not. Will there be any calls to action? Quite definitely not. The only conceivable path to positive change is organised, effective player protest. It cannot be organised on WG's own platforms. https://discord.gg/6ZpmHJHQ And if we do not organise it, it will not come. -
Trento, is it just me? Please help.
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to HansRoaming's topic in General Discussion
Brindisi is the fastest Tier IX cruiser as long as Saint Louis stays off the engine boost, and among the most agile ones, too. Amalfi has actually worse rudder shift (if a slightly tighter turning circle) and is only .3 kt faster. Well, yeah. -
Trento, is it just me? Please help.
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to HansRoaming's topic in General Discussion
Amalfi would be ok since it starts getting the extended smoke duration, were it not for the carrier plague on Tier VIII. Why would you want to skip Tier XI of all tiers?! It is the only one that even resembles fun most of the time any more, with 33% CV plague or less. All you need to do to have a good time with Brindisi is not push early, not push alone and not broadside, i.e. normal cruiser gameplay while skipping the dumb stuff. -
Trento, is it just me? Please help.
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to HansRoaming's topic in General Discussion
Dude, it is a garbage ship on a garbage tier with garbage matchmaking and loads of carrier plague. Just skip it with Free XP. Skip everything until Brindisi in fact. -
PLEASE do not use TAE on Leningrad.
-
I think it was iChase who made the case for Dam Con Mod 1 over ERP mod for DDs. You're taking LS anyway while fire ruins the stealth. So you can save Dam Cons for fires. It runs counter to the established Flamu wisdom but I have not regretted it yet.
-
My captain build is PT-LS-SE-CE-AR-RL-TAE. AR is because I use Jerzy Swirlie who has enhanced AR. While I do sometimes miss the extra consumables of the SI perk, I just feel naked and afraid without RL. The alternative would be to drop the TAE in favour of SI but I just love torping too much. Spoilt by almost 600 Benham games and counting. Upgrade-wise I go for the Steering Gears Mod 2 instead of the Dam Con Mod 2 which frankly I think is ruining your build. This big, unwieldy DD benefits a lot more from the extra rudder shift. And that flaw is exacerbated whenever you get caught off-guard because of the missing RL. But that alone does not explain your <cough> 11% Halland win rate by a long shot.

New ranked system looks cool af
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to COPlUM's topic in General Discussion
Plus, at least occasionally, the absence of the carrier plague. Although they will soon mess that up by bringing in the idiotic submarines on the uneven tiers. -
State of the game 2020 is surprisingly just fine
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
"Fine" as in https://youtu.be/wo9dVxk5Qyw -
It says "Clans which have players with similar levels of activity will be selected as opponents." (Extended Rules, in the game client itself.) Whatever that is supposed to mean.

Help me with the choice of T7 destroyer
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to shiftyah's topic in General Discussion
Do not buy any of these ships. In Randoms, you are just carrier fodder. You would be paying to be griefed. The average is 50% carrier battles and you have no counterplay. Ranked is only rarely on Tier VII. You then have to contend with a flood of Belfasts, as well as loads more stealthy destroyers. Only Sims offers a slight advantage here, because of another braindead early WG decision, namely to grant it more base XP for the same battle performance than any other ship. And you should on principle not give WG any money at all until they fix CVs. -
When and why did WG break the autopilot?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor posted a topic in General Discussion
Such as it was. By which I mean: Used to be that you could change the speed setting. As long as you did not set it to all stop or change direction altogether, the autopilot remained active. Which was very useful. For example when using the autopilot to thread the ship through a channel while focusing on shooting the enemy, you could vary the speed to a degree while still avoiding to ground the ship. Only dabbing any of the rudder keys, stopping or reversing direction would switch off the autopilot. Now, a change of speed already does. Another reworsening, or is there a benefit I fail to see? Possibly to benefit a certain dumbed down OP class of ships that everybody hates like the plague? -
Suggestion Swedish ships - example minor nation
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Johan_Jung's topic in General Discussion
Yes but that does not change the fact we badly need Swedish CVs in the game in order to get more CV battles for Swedish DDs.- 168 replies
