advice on commander xp use related captain rework

Never forget that WG's business model rests on two equally important pillars: Player time spent on their servers, and player money spent on their commercial products. As a new player, and even as a fairly old hand, no amount of ECXP that you have, or can realistically save up, will help you much because Wargaming are deliberately overpricing the final two skill points in a completely ridiculous manner. At the same time, they are building players a proverbial Golden Bridge by making it possible to buy back 25% of the XP that players ground out to train those captains, when dismissing them, in the form of ECXP, and letting you take ships into battle without captains. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IucYwAmu1-6s7qU2P0jMlYmT3dHOybmgttW1Kanlmkg/edit#gid=2125998039 So that is obviously what they want you to do: Fire all the lower skilled captains from the port queens that you only ever use for snowflaking anyway - grind millions and millions of credits, to buy back a ressource they conveniently devalued for you, a second time after you ground that very same ressource for the first time. Which is theft by any other name. OR you can use the short cut and give them actual money to buy back a little more of what you should be regarding as your own property. And what you are getting for that is nerfed Cruiser and DD captains or moderately buffed BB captains with some really idiotic skills that actively discourage team play. And those are put up against massively buffed CV captains. Because everybody knows CVs and DDs have been too tanky anyway. And what this game really suffered from was BBs not camping hard enough on the back line while CVs were not easy enough to play and not OP enough by a long shot. Obviously there will follow more steps to squeeze and defraud players further, once they have successfully burned off all these ressources. -
You decide. (This also contains five crates obtained in-game through different means than snowflaking, since I only have 34 Tier Xs. However, those five did not drop any doubloons, nor premium days.)

Small rant - aka what is the main problem in WoWs
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Zen71_sniper's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes it does. WGs business model clearly has contingencies against "voting wallets" and they have been active for quite some time. That is what we call "dumbing down the game". Even though WG are actively repelling those who once used to love the game, their server population keeps growing, if not as rapidly as it should have during the months of lockdown. And I suppose their bottom line also keeps growing. On top of a sediment of unteachables (compare https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/143969-the-sheer-amount-of-money-wg-could-make-but-doesnt/), they rely on a steady influx of uneducated casual players who keep spending until they get wise, some way or another. And they are getting that influx. The only way to get inside that loop is to speed up the education of those rubes faster than WG can recruit new rubes, and the only way that can work is through organisation. The good news is that in contrast to fighting racism, trumpism or some such, which I don't believe many serious players really do give a crap about, it would actually only require spending time on social media and not chaining yourself to things in protest or physically clashing with the minions of fascism. But even that seems to be too much of an effort and the excuses come way too easy. So: more usless bitching and ranting. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! -
Yoshino compares in no way to Zao, which is a lot stealthier and more agile. Save all your ressources, the coupon is good for half a year and this game is about to face the biggest mess ever in a history replete with big messes.

[SOLVED] What is new?!
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Nope, tried that, didn't work. -
That's not gonna help since you cannot unlock the second mission that way. "Ships and Fates" will indeed stay unobtainable until you get your hands on Strasbourg. That ship is the main prize of the "In Pursuit of Strasbourg" campaign. Since since the final mission of the "In Pursuit of Strasbourg" campaign will only be unlocked in twelve days, no matter what you do, you cannot get it for free before the 12th of January. And "Ships and Fates" will go away when the next patch, 10.0.0, arrives. That should occur on Thursday the 14th of January, giving you a whopping two days to complete the whole campaign.

List of untouched/nerfed/gutted unique and enhanced captains in 0.10.0
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to COPlUM's topic in General Discussion
Also JOAT straight up does not exist any more for Cruisers and destroyers, seeing as it has been split into two different corresponding new skills, increasing its price tag by 33% while decreasing its value significantly since the new skills no longer include Dam Con and Repair Parties. IOW WG just wants Cruisers and DDs to die off more quickly. We all know their extreme tankiness has been the major problem besetting this game! -
Snowflake Tracking - aka Steelwhaling for 0.9.12
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Rukenshia's topic in General Discussion
Minor issue: It appears to also track some promotional rental ships players may only have received temporarily. I was a bit confused when selecting the "Include ships I used to have in port" check box, and it suddenly said I used to have a Perth in my NA account. I could not remember ever having bought it or receiving it in some other fashion, but it could have conceivably dropped from a Satan box in 2019. I would have taken her out rarely if ever, especially in these days of the CV plague. But I never sell premium ships either. It drove me mad. I was on the verge of contacting player "support" when suddenly remembering there was a promo event where players got a Perth for three days or so. -

"Purchases"?! -
The key to farming Defended ribbons is to stay outside the cap while you reset the capping enemy ship. Otherwise it can't amass capping points for you to take from it. In Co-Op, it is fairly easy, the main obstacles being the Matchmaker giving you Standard Battle instead of Domination, and the Matchmaker giving you speshul team mates who are unaware of the above factoid. In Randoms and Ranked, it can pose a somewhat greater challenge.

Karma is coming Wargaming
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to tijmen10's topic in General Discussion
Yeah that's not gonna happen on a nearly wide enough scale without players organising in order to educate all the slightly special new facebook clickers flooding the game every day, for whom WG keeps dumbing down the game. This needs to happen in the very game itself cause there is no other way to reach them. -

Uproar? What'd I miss? So far it's just a bit of the usual sniveling, bitching and ranting on the forums and streams, after which Flamu goes back to promoting commercial Wargaming products and Amazon. -

Ok so Wargaming has obviously stopped caring entirely... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWg05jIQE8s ... so why should I keep caring? I have decided to do all my Tier VIII snowflaking TODAY, in RANKED, which should ruin the day for plenty of people since many of my T8 ships have only really basic captains or straight up terrible meme builds, and also include a wide selection of ships I hate and/or I am really really awfully terrible at. Am I drunk? NOT YET! Am I stoned? I WISH!!1 Also I have decided to stream the whole event on twitch, starting around 14:00 German time, which is in about two hours from now, in case you care to watch. Should be good for a laff or two. https://www.twitch.tv/fixcvs Cue the Strauss.

Updates to Ranked Battles
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I would have been genuinely surprised if Wargaming had not finally destroyed Ranked while claiming to have improved it. Seriously though, you have to admire the sheer brazenness with which they are pandering to their speshul favorite child, the CV "players". Putting tiers 9 and 10 together in the silver league is a stroke of pure evil genius. This ensures that a) there is not a single "league" without CVs and b) that CVs are never uptiered while always enjoying a steady supply of helpless fodder to grief throughout the whole event. At the same time, they are forcing CVs down our throat in every single game mode there is, even going so far as to cram CV bots into CO-OP even when no human carrier "players" are queueing up. If you still refuse to organise in protest at this point, you might as well leave Wargaming all your earthly posessions in your will and jump off a cliff at your earliest convenience. https://discord.gg/XcDrF4C4 -
