How would you skill up a 21 point Shimakaze Captain after the rework?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
I would not, and in fact will not. Tier X gets on average 50% carrier matches and with any semi competent cv player, Shima is just fodder. Why waste an incredibly expensive captain and indeed my playing time on that? -
It did. Obviously, none of the ones responsible for the CV rework ever got fired, or at any event, not for the CV rework (Hi @iEarlGrey!) so its impact on the revenue can't have been so bad that it would have been impossible to pass it off as a success at the usual middle management meetings when embellished with few trendy buzz words. https://stats.wotapi.ru/stats/wows/eu/EU If anything, peaks on the EU server population chart are slightly higher than last January, probably because people are curious about the rework. Levels do not seem much different from 2018 and 2019. That is of course stagnation and not growth, but considering the game permanently loses players and there is a constant influx of new players propping up these numbers, and the new players are the most likely to spend any money, it is a fair bet to say the profits must also be fairly stable. Or at any rate, stable enough to pass them off as not-failures under all manner of buzzwords and excuses at said middle-management meetings. Which is of course the only thing the people responsible are interested in.

Time to tell WG how to fix it (No Rant) -
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to StraightUpYourA's topic in General Discussion
When will you people get it through your heads that WG does not care what you tell them? To Wargaming, you are all just a market to be milked. Neatly broken down into target demos. Like so much livestock. -
After the subs they will just introduce mines and then we are all set.

Pommern, Georgia or Thunderer. Which one should i get as a Co-op player?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to CaravellaCaravan's topic in General Discussion
Seeing as the bots will just mindlessly rush you to be slaughtered, Pommern seems best. It's about the only game mode where a secondary build still works while the other two are so squishy even the bots will land the odd citadel when you turn and try to run away. -
Proof WG did this rework for profit not balance.
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to The_Chiv's topic in General Discussion
Well, the thing is, as epic as the rework may be, it does include a full month of free captain skill point resetting. And experimenting freely with different builds is about the most fun left to be had in this game. But of course it works the better, the more fully maxxed out commanders and premium ships you have. So it's really the perfect evil genius plan, subjecting players to that mix of pleasure and pain. -
Why no GUI indicators for active new skills?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Starchy_Tuber's topic in General Discussion
OR - and hear me out - they could just go back to skills that are active all the time and not activated by some arbitrary set of conditions typed up by a horde of monkeys at random. Crazy, I know! Although when all is said and done, I am happy with the rework because it has turned my Großer Kurfürst into one mean Arsonist and Witherer printing machine!1 https://replayswows.com/replay/120658#stats -
"Wait for the unique Soviet commander with improved Dead Eye! That's gonna be spicy!1" Too bad that Dead Eye does not work on CVs though.

Is it just me or does the rework bring out the err, "casual" players in even bigger droves than a normal patchday? -
Why no GUI indicators for active new skills?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Starchy_Tuber's topic in General Discussion
That would just be too easy. Oh wait - if that was the reason, then there would be indicators for the CVs.... Let's try again: "That would actually require developers with some forethought, or at least developers who play the game themselves." -

Also the ESC key often just doesn't work in the Captain menu. -
Update 0.10.0: Commander Skills Update
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
It would seem there is a new bug in this patch. It concerns the capture circle indicators. Note how the enemy Shimakaze on the screenshot is smoked up inside our southern cap circle (C), he'd been in there quite some time with me, yet the indicator at the top of the screen never showed the cap to be contested. -
I like the new Commander Skills GUI..so far
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Pametrada's topic in General Discussion
Quite. Which is why I made a whole entire thread about it, criticizing WG, some weeks ago after first discovering this on the public test server. -

You need to open the Captain menu and then click the intuitively labelled "Change Commander" button. -

FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Pametrada's topic in General Discussion
It could be one of my mods, testing that now. Edit: Indeed it seems to have been fixed by V. 03 of the current Aslain mod pack. -

When thinking about how badly Wargaming are scamming and fleecing the player base with this cash grab Captain Skill rework, don't forget it also comes into play each and every time you transfer one of your newly upgraded 21-point commanders to a different ship. Because retraining now of course is also vastly more expensive. Also I couldn't even test this cause it didn't work. I was unable to transfer new captains to my ships. I would have been very surprised if there hadn't been any bugs in the very core functionality of the main change of this patch. -

"Hire and Fire" your captains!
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
If you don't want users to use these fonts and font sizes, then why does your forum offer them in the first place? It's not as though I hacked it to be able to use them. -

What are the odds that people will come up with bots to do it for them? Edit: Please do not use extreme formatting. Think about the mobile users. -
☆ Time for the next step WG ☆
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
All kidding aside, what we actually need is a warning signal telling us when all these "can be activated" skills are activated. Like the camping-on-the-back-line-in-muh-BB skill or the rush-in-like-a-muppet-in-me-squishy-cruiser skill. Something like a clown car honk, methinks. Or even better yet, some sort of flashing warning bar at the bottom as long as they have not been activated. Along with a nice blinking speech bubble reminding us what it is we even need to do to proc them. Maybe even highlight the ships we need to get away from and stop spotting them or whatever in order to proc these skillz. -
Update 0.10.0: Commander Skills Update
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
The captain skill rework, which no player ever asked for, is an unashamed cash grab and in parts (brawler skill for cruisers etc) sheer idiocy. Meanwhile, the game client still fails to do super easy, basic things like oh say, reliably identify the aspect ratio of my monitor (21:9). Also the shooting-across-islands bug, the shells-falling-short-bug and dare I say it, the free-look-flips-you-around-sometimes bug are all still present and accounted for. Congrats, Wargaming. Here's to never, ever buyinkch any commercial products from you again, comrade. -
Negativity on the Commander rework - First time poster
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to MaxGct's topic in General Discussion
Yeah why work on fixing all those age-old aiming bugs - shooting over islands, shells falling short etc -. when we can grab the cash with a captain skill rework no player ever asked for. Priorities #DUH!1 -
How to play Replays? Opens Game Centre instead of game

Try the right click and selecting the WoWs-exe after the WGC is already running, that did it for me. -

Talking of useless bug-riddled garbage, what was this morning's 1 GB update about? -
More is less (the upcoming Commander Skills Update 19 -> 21 points - most current "reference" builds will simply cost more in new system for same functionality and will deplete great deal of resources and cause months / years of unnecessary grind)!
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Yes well, who enjoys grinding AGAIN through the CV-infested low and mid tiers?! Only suckers and masochists do that. They only used the regrinding thing as maskirovka. In truth, it is of course aimed at whales with millions of free xp. That's why they gave it the ability to stack several resets in a row. So they could free-XP those OP ships in one go. You know, a bit of aspirin to calm down the shitstorm. Create the appearance of progress. Make the suckers feel like they actually achieved something. Geez, did nobody here watch Jericho?!
