Charleston - How can more veteran players get it?

For sealclubbing of course, or how much do you want to max out your Bello captain?

    Suggestions thread

To my mind, the ships horns added a few months ago have mostly proven to be a good thing and sometimes really useful. So now, the next thing to be added should be a visual signalling device - flares, or star shells, maybe in different colours even.

    SUNRAY IN THE DARKNESS

Yeah for that, you would have to keep the Halloween ships permanently in port. Afaik, currently the system is that when they are removed after the Halloween season, players get to keep the port slots, which are otherwise mainly obtainable for real money. Even if they don't cost "a lot," I imagine the slots are much more appreciated by the majority of players, especially those that definitely don't want to (or cannot) pay for anything in the game. This year it's been a really good haul, too, what with up to 12 Halloween ships obtainable. That's the equivalent of 1,800 to 3,600 doubloons, and the latter can be more than 12 Euros worth. Even some players from central Europe consider this a frivolous expense, trifling though the amount may be to them. But in countries like Turkey, that's more than a sixth of the average national monthly income. You can still do it. Forming the division from random players may take a few minutes currently, as opposed to back at the start of the Halloween season when there was a real run on Sunray divisions because the OP of the Week was Tier III Saving Transylvania while you needed a Tier V scenario to complete that RN Arc directive. But it is definitely still possible and it is in fact one of the easier ways to complete some current RN Arc directives involving lots of ribbons, main gun hits or secondaries hits.
  4. A fairly pointless poll if you have no way to interconnect the datapoints. You can't even begin to try showing any correlations.

While those lacking self respect put theirs on their Nicholas for Ranked Sprint.

    Bug Reports

In today's in-game news bulletin titled "Weekly Highlights: Vanguard + Dreadnought", there are buttons labelled "November Combat Missions", "Premium Shop in November" etc. If you click them, the game is minimized and the standard web browser called up but no URL is entered or loaded.

Where do EU players get ARP ships these days?!

Hi, I notice a lot of players with things like ARP Kongo and its sister ships that seem to be very experienced yet have often times had less than ten games in these ships. Looked some of them up and a few definitely only got these ARP ships within the past few weeks. Is there another way besides supercontainers?!

    Lack of Transparancy

For one thing, there is no easy, centralized way to look up nerfs and buffs that longer serving ships have gone through. This means even the external, 3rd-party reviews by youtubers and redditors etc become less useful over time. The wiki is probably supposed to fill that role but of course it doesn't because you can't rely on it being updated since WG do not have a staffer do it. Another example is the lack of basic info about the fundamental mechanics in the first Halloween special, "Saving Transsylvania". They keep reusing it (which I appreciate) but each time it is the same: new players don't know the first thing about how it works, when even one or two sentences would mean everyone could have a better time. However, they have improved this with subsequent missions. "Terror of the Deep" is actually OK in that respect. So there does seem to be hope.

Desperately in need of help to get better

Sounds like you've progressed too fast and are playing to reckless and aggressive. You can't do that at the midling and higher levels any more or you will get punished harshly. Watch this:

No idea. I don't keep track of the doubloons that well. However, i do wonder what the update was about anyway?

Huanghe - what do people think?

And by the way, if you think €8.99 is just too cheap for this ship, if you are really hell bent on paying more than that, you can simply buy her for doubloons from the tech tree. Because even if you use the 30% discount coupon recently issued to long term players, her in-game price of 5,400 doubloons amounts to €12.39 in real money.

    Wallet Warrior's Gold Guide

Latest update on very short notice: THE COUPON players who have been in the game for a year received a 30% coupon valid for three days and for "selected packages" the other day. You might have noticed other forum threads about this, with many people not being really sure what to do with it. Me included. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GdW79l1hAu7cDeP6R-zKDkR6F6M2Jjv0YJLdUULC-hE/edit?usp=sharing Somebody suggested just getting gold for it and there are definitely merits to that idea. It would seem you can't redeem the coupon for an arbitrary amount of doubloons, and not for any special, time limited or otherwise discounted offers. What you can buy is the big chest with 30,500 doubloons, for 69.99 Euros, giving you an historically low exchange rate of 0.00229 Euro cents per doubloon. For one thing, as you can see from the latest new spreadsheet called "Coupon discount Gold for ships", spending these discounted doubloons on premium ships available for in-game purchase from the tech tree (column I) does indeed save you a few more Euros over their premium shop prices, even if you compare it to the coupon-discounted premium shop prices (column H). And what is more, this procedure allows you to use the coupon to buy more than one ship, or buy ships as well as other stuff you can get for doubloons in the game. Like for instance, wait for the next free XP conversion discount, get a bit over a million free XP for that gold and get free XP ships. One drawback is that several great premium ships are not available for doubloons in-game purchase, like for example the Atago. Then again, the selection is changed now and then and you could just wait and see what happens, extending the time period in which to benefit from the coupon. OTOH, this of course involves the risk that the in-game selection may never include the ships you actually want, or become even worse when they remove ships you're currently on the fence about. The one thing you must definitely avoid though is to use that gold to buy a ship which is actually more expensive that way than it currently is in the store. They have removed most of the discounted premium ships from the tech tree but apparently, they forgot at least one - the Huanghe.

    Lest We Forget.

Sure, THAT's what's on everybody's mind ;-)))) BIG red mark in everybody's calendar. Seriously, with modern Germany, WWI is something that might as well have happened to another country.

Received a 30% coupon but don t have what to spend it on...

That large camo collection looked very enticing, I have been developing something of a camo collecting fetish and kept at least one of each for the past months. Sadly, it seems you can't use the coupon for that. Really have a hard time deciding. If anyone wants to weigh in, based on my stats or known silly predilections...

Huanghe - what do people think?

I respect Flamu's opinions a great deal because of the care and effort he puts in to substantiate them. That said, Graf Spee. He was right back then that she didn't measure up to Scharnhorst, which at the time could be had for just the tiniest bit more money, and which was a fair VFM comparison. I got her at a nearly 70% discount (otherwise wouldn't have) and the only reason I played her more than just a few times is she was just one more option to grind more elite commander XP with my only German 19-pt captain. Worked really well even though he is optimized for the FdG. Turns out, of the ships I played more than just a few times, she gave me the second-best win rate of nearly 75%, which is yuge for me. There must be reasons competitive players use her when it comes to Tier VI clan battles and such. Best hydro of her tier (Scharnhorst: none), more torps than Scharnhorst with longer range and (even) better firing arcs, hard hitting guns. Four times more catapult fighter action time than any BB. Tanky cruiser with heal at Tier VI already. Plenty of tools, plenty of fun. One of my best buys. There might have been the odd buff since Flamu's review. Anshan Flamu prefers the Fushun because it turns quickly enough so he can forgo the rudder shift upgrade and use the propulsion upgrade instead. To me, that is a lot less important than the fact Fushun has no real torps. Being unable to torp other DDs makes me feel naked and vulnerable in a cap. (Which is also the reason I disagree with his evaluation of Shenyang as a better sealclubber than Clemson.) Of course the heavy discount at which I got my Anshan helped a lot to form my opinion. Krasny Krim Most of what he says about her is correct and even after some(?) buffs, she still struggles when uptiered. Also not great with AFT since the concealment bloom when firing makes her worst problem even worse. Which is a [edited] because of course you want to use a Russian DD captain on her, for which build AFT is extremely desirable. And yet. This is a greatly improved Svietlana, and Svietlana is one of the really great little ships. Uptiered in Randoms, you're gonna have some bad games but you can still make yourself useful in others and it really pisses people off to be sunk by a supposed turd. Very good AA for her tier, the most fun I've had in Ranked Sprint (if not my most effective ship). Podvoisky He liked it - I just hate it. Can't put my finger on it but I can't make that ship work. At. All. Tried his build, tried a different build, nothing. Then again, most of the time I even have problems making Okhotnik work, so mine is probably not a relevant opinion. Kongo is a very similar matter. Le Terrible Haven't got one, did get rushed in my smoke by one the other day. I think I was in the Kidd or Fletcher. Gunned down before I could even blink. She may be gimmicky but her extreme speed and main gun reload booster seem to make her perfect for this very job, even with no back-up. I also got a bit skeptical of his Indianapolis review after I got that ship from the marathon and did fairly well in her a lot of the times, but the epiphany came after unlocking New Orleans. "Oh that's what they were going for!"

Huanghe - what do people think?

No. On cruisers, the fighter plane stays up four times longer or so (provided it isn't shot down.) That's why I take it on any cruiser that can take it. Also no concealment penalty when shooting.

Huanghe - what do people think?

Well, imho what makes the Perth especially good is that she can have a catapult fighter and smoke at the same time, which is almost as good as radar and smoke (with the plane spotting for you until somebody shoots it down.) (<Hagrid>Probably shouldn't have said that.</Hagrid>) Huanghe does not have that option, which is why I couldn't bring myself to get it even at the discounted price yet.

Adding the option to sell permanent camo for 50% credits

Don't forget that you can come by perma camos in the game as well, like the Halloween camos from the pumpkin containers. I got the Ghoul for USS Benson last year and had been looking forward to unlocking that ship specifically for that reason for months ;-) But then it got old super fast. But being too cheap to use or even buy expendable camos when I had this thing, I just had to look at it all through the Fletcher grind. It would have been good to be able to swap it for the regular perma camo or something. Currently, I'm facing the same dilemma for the NC and that French cruiser again.

    A. Ovechkin Commanders

This doesn't just go for Ovechkin, but I find it strange that as soon as a unique Commander with his own unique voiceover is used, all the other voice messages by may team mates are then also delivered in that voice. It's irritating when it's one of the anime girls, especially since my Japanese is a bit rusty <ahem>, and no offense to Mr Ovechkin, but with his high pitched lisp, the American version can get downright comical. It's as though the whole team had turned into Mike Tyson all of a sudden.

    Interesting Warship Documentaries Thread

Been some time but I have just stumbled across another fascinating video: Making Armstrong Gun (1920-1929) I had been specifically searching for something like this after reading on Wikipedia that many large British warship guns from the 1890s to shortly after WWI were indeed wire-wound guns, whose construction process can be seen in this video. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_British_ordnance_terms#Wire-wound
