All the things wrong with the Black Ships
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Lexmechanic's topic in Archive
They did exactly that with the Stars 'n Stripes Texas. It must have been a terrible business decision. -
Probably for the same reason the Halloween ships weren't grayed out until players selected a Halloween operation.
-
Matchmaking is odd. I had several games without DDs. Immediately before the last one, I had one without cruisers.
-
Yeah I had that impression too, in Operation Killer Whale. But on closer inspection, it turns out they were simply within my ships' smoke fire bloom (4.6km in Leander, 4.5km in Perth) and so I was of course detected and it was all legit.

WG I want fair play when you nerf a ship.
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
If you don't have high skill point captains coming out of your ears left and right, then it lets you play all your premiums for one nation with the highest skill count captain for a week, and you can set him up with a bespoke skill set for every ship and whatever takes your fancy every time. With no retraining and no cost. So the more captains and the more premiums, the more fun. i've been playing for a year now, and I'm not a good player, and also i did not strategically focus on leveling just one or two lines all the way through but rather eclectically tried a bit of everything. Other players at this stage, with better skill and a different approach, might have more 19-ponters at this stage but I have just four. And only because I've finally started focusing on grinding Commander XP about half a year ago. When I first learned about these free redistribution weeks. -
CV Rework: AA Defence Ships

Though nothing would keep evil players from using them in CV divisions, of course. -

You can reset captain skills on ALL your captains for free for a week, and then AGAIN for a week AFTER the CB season. That's what makes it so awesome. Funnest weeks of the year, even though the sound effect does start to get annoying after a while ;-) It is THE best promo for premium ships they have, period. I fail to understand why they don't realize that and make redistribution free more often, or always. But hey. -

There was a rumour, which sadly proved untrue, that players would be keeping the port slots of the Halloween event ships after the event was over. I get that slots are a source of revenue but it would have been nice nonetheless. Maybe you could use them for an incentive in future. Make players play a certain number of event battles if they want to keep any sort of Event ship slots (also those of Clan Battle rental ships.). Maybe make it even a skill-based requirement instead of one that you can simply grind. Or combine the two. Make them do a certain number of Event battles where they have to do well according to a parameter that makes sense => spotting damage for DDs, Damage dealt for cruisers, potential damage for BBs.

Most of the quick voice messages (on the Fx keys) could use a rework, at least in English and very much in German. Many expressions are not very idiomatic and the voice acting could also use improvement. But the one that consistently irks me the most is "Support that target!" WG rightly goes to some lengths to encourage teamplay and good sportsmanship while sanctioning team killing. A team mate should never be considered a target, a friendly ship would never be considered as such, and this quick message very much should reflect that. It would be great if all of these could be re-recorded one of these days. If you want to avoid the cost of hiring a decent translator, you could even gather player suggestions for the wording and make it a little contest, like with some camo designs, patches etc..

The requirements for the combat mission "Show The Flag" specify using British ships of Tier V and above, and state that it must be completed in "Random, Ranked, Co-Op, Twilight or Scenario Battle". You can't use any British ships in Twilight battles. Also there is currently no Ranked contest, will there be one before this mission expires (14. December)? Or should this maybe say "Clan battle"? because there's a CB season about to start.

Chat rules?

I'm fairly certain it was a lot more specific. -
The Callout Bug in Operation Killer Whale still has not been fixed. I honestly don't know how many bug reports I have submitted about this. Can't be bothered with the format any more after all these months and months. It is not possible to call down fire upon specific opponents in the Operation. Whenever you try, it calls out a coastal installation, even if there is none. Also re: Killer Whale, there is a spelling error in the new secondary task that calls for the destruction of the two new BBs replacing the former CVs. One of the BBs is spelled "Furi" in the task while the actual bot ship (the Kawachi) is called "Fury".

Make Concealment Expert tier 1 or 2 skill
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to karol66's topic in General Discussion
Because it clearly makes a lot more sense than a narrow CE discussion. -
Since we're getting rid of the RTS element with the carrier rework, maybe include an RTS or even MMORPG element as a special event one of these days. Just so as to avoid losing all of that crossover appeal. I'm picturing sailors in bar fights on Navy day etc.

Make Concealment Expert tier 1 or 2 skill
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to karol66's topic in General Discussion
To the contrary. The more different captain builds you can have that actually make sense, or more/less sense to different kinds of players, the more people will want to experiment with them. -
Make Concealment Expert tier 1 or 2 skill
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to karol66's topic in General Discussion
I don't know that it's possible to do that for any and all ships in the game. And I'm completely OK with ships like the IJN gunboats or Atlanta needing a fairly high number of must-have or nearly-must-have skills. However, your basic idea is very intriguing, especially considering how much fun it is to play with different captain builds. Free skill point redistribution week is still the only reason I want to do a Clan Battle. And it's an aspect of the game that automatically gets better every time because more premium ships and more maxed-out commanders accumulate. -
PSA: Aircraft Carrier bots removed from four Operations
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Only if you're not a team player. In the latest iterations of these OPs before this last carrier removal, DDs hat gotten a lot more viable and actually a useful choice, at least in Narai and Aegis. Which I thought was nice. -
So I finally got around to making a small conversion table, if you will, converting some of the common in-game doubloon amounts into Euros, just to get a better feel for the cost. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GdW79l1hAu7cDeP6R-zKDkR6F6M2Jjv0YJLdUULC-hE/edit?usp=sharing The C column is based on the conversion rate of the 14,500 doubloon chest and the E column on the one for the 30,500 doubloon chest. Upshot - if you like to buy economy flags, buy them in the game, not in the store.

Event ships simply removed without selling the upgrades?!

Event ships simply removed without selling the upgrades?!
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor posted a topic in General Discussion
I notice the Halloween event ships for the past three rounds were removed with today's new update 0.7.11. (And without letting players keep the port slots, too. Which is disappointing.) Now sadly, I didn't pay very close attention to the contents of my in-game piggy bank but I do get the distinct impression that none of the credits sunk into upgrades have been reimbursed. Not even the usual percentage you get from selling these modules. Is this correct? I guess we have to be grateful Wargaming didn't decide to automatically dismount the upgrades and just subtract the corresponding amount of doubloons without even asking... or did they? Wouldn't put it past them. -

Further discounted ships: Texas Alabama Indianapolis Kidd EDIT: I failed to see any announcement (as I often do) but PORT SLOTS are also currently discounted to the usual 150 doubloons, which comes to €0.393 at the discounted exchange rate. This good news is marred though by the fact that contrary to some expectations, it turns out that players can't actually keep the slots that came with the Halloween event ships. (Some might say that would indeed have been uncharacteristically generous of WG ;-) Oddly enough, they still failed to adjust the pice of the Huanghe, which therefore remains the only ship that costs more in-game than in the store if I'm not mistaken. A LOT more. Like 50% more. Even in discounted doubloons. -
Wallet Warrior's Gold Guide
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but that does not account for price changes and discounts. For example, I get a discount flag on the Sims, and the price is only 3,500 doubloons instead of 5,000. Which means it's now slashed to single-digit €9,17 in discounted doubloons! Also, I notice the ships they said they'd remove are still in there, or at least the Ashitaka is. So possibly there is a slight overlap until the removal takes effect.
