Mighty Jingles is a winner of the Ring Contest

Why aren't submarines in Twilight Battles?
-
These up the flooding chance of any kind of torps, not just air-dropped ones. Did you seriously not realize?
-
I'd hate using coal for them but having them is actually nice. You can run them by default on any brawling battleship for a nasty surprise to any rammers. So funny when they think they take you down with them but you actually survive while they explode.

Factors to consider an uninstall
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to anonym_SzkioGezxc4G's question in Q&A Section
Nonono, you got it all wrong. That's not when you uninstall. That's when you head over to the Premium shop and start blowing some cash. -

Can somebody elucidate me as to why I now have 3 ships which I haven't bought, in my port?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to artistar's topic in Archive
You can not only use them in Clan Battles but also in Training Rooms. They have Premium status inasmuch as you can put any Captain from the respective nation on them without retraining. Any upgrades you put on them you must pay for but the upgrades will be demounted free of the usual 25 doubloon charge when the rental ships are removed. (So you can then either sell them from your inventory or use them on other ships.) The rental ships will be changed twice over the course of the Clan Battle season. West Virginia needs some love.. this ship isnt good!

Hasn't Mutsu been buffed? I recently bought it and can't really complain about the shells... more about the squishy armor. -
Next Ranked Sprint at Tier 6, it seems.
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
Aaaand they've done it, they've gone and ruined Tier VI, by launching another Giulio, under the name "USS Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel with the freakin' 16-inch guns", errr, "USS Inbred Redneck Central", aka "USS West Virginia." I had all but forgotten about that damn thing. -
World of Warships Nominated for #TheYouTubeAd of the Year!

I would have sworn the award was for "Pin up"... although that was technically not an ad, I suppose. -

FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
I don't think so. People get hung up on "the strongest AA of her tier" but she doesn't get defensive AA. I wager a C-Hull Farragut with its 400% def AA is a stronger proposition. You don't even have to go full manual (which you could, of course.) And regarding the T-61, besides not being as ridiculously broken OP as the usual Tier V suspects or Belfast, the other thing that makes it far less infuriating is that she is still on sale and everybody can just get one for a measly 21 Euros. So no need at all to whine about it, except maybe for players from regions where that actually constitutes a lot of money. -

Prinz Eitel Friedrich is coming - German T6 Kongo. -
As of one of the recent updates, certain commander skills are greyed out if they are deemed ineffective for the ship the commander is currently on. However, that includes skills that very definitely do have an impact, like IFHE on a FdG commander (which also beefs up the secondaries.) This greying-out should be restricted to skills that have absolutely no effect on the current ship, like Air Superiority on a surface combattant. Another example: Even demo expert may have a place on a RN cruiser commander. It also boosts the fire chance on the secondaries. Fiji already has great secondary range, especially if you choose AFT to increase your AA coverage, and I've trolled many a player by setting them on fire with these secondaries which they really didn't expect from that ship. I think the current way is dumbing this aspect of the game down too much.
-
Yes: You can just ignore it. Nope. It's just greyed out because somebody at WG thinks that particular skill is not an effective choice for the ship that particular commander is currently on. For example, on my Friedrich captain, IFHE and possibly even DE are greyed out (don't remember off the cuff). However, it's of course a secondary build since the main guns on that ship are really really bad, and both these skills very definitely boost the secondaries, which is just what I wanted. WG should really restrict this greying out to skills that actually do nothing at all on the ship in question, like pure aircraft carrier skills on surface combatants.

How to use mods from a standard Windows user account?
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi, a couple months ago, several mods from the Aslain mod pack just stopped working. I posted in the Aslain Mod Pack thread but nobody seemed able to help. Now, by chance, it turned out that they actually do still work when using the Administrator account on this Windows-7 gaming system. Or at least the mod most missed, the Badobest Side Panels v.2 They just don't work when using a standard (non-Admin) user account to play, which is of course what I have always done and want to continue doing. That standard user, let's call him "Dave", is not authorized to install any software, so every new Aslain mod pack is installed "as Administrator", using the right mouse button and entering the Admin password. Strangely, other mods are not affected by this, like the navigator or the extended tech tree. What do I need to do to get the side panels working again under the "Dave" standard account? -

FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
What are "they" and why wouldn't "they" be there when the Aslain mod pack is installed? I mean that folder exists and from the look of it, the contents are the same for both accounts. -
[12.6.0] Aslain's WoWS ModPack Installer
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor replied to Aslain's topic in Modpacks
Hi, a while ago I posted about that problem I had, which was that several mods just stopped working (like the Badobest side panels, which I miss A LOT) while others only seem to work on a good day. No solution or reason was found. By chance, I now discovered that at least the side panels DO work just fine when I play the game while logged into my Windows 7 OS under the Administrator account. They just don't work when I use my standard user account. Which I have of course always done and plan to do in future, it's one of the most basic safety precautions. Does anybody maybe now have an idea how to make the mods work again, based on this new info? Do I need to unlock some files for the standard user account or something? -
They did it again - OP Killer Whale

The challenge is for you to make them understand. -
There is already a fairly large number of ships in the game that were among the target fleet of Operation Crossroads, the earliest nuclear test explosions on Bikini Atoll in July 1946: USS Pensacola, USS Arkansas, USS New York, USS Independence, Prinz Eugen and Nagato. Looking at the steadily approaching doom in the Twilight battles, the nuclear test cuold serve as the backdrop for a similarly interesting scenario where you somehow have to fight your way out of the target area before the nuke goes off. In any event, it would make for spectacular visuals, if maybe at the risk of oversaturating players after a few too many rounds.

Hi, I clearly remember having read somewhere that it is prohibited to incite payers in the battle chat to report another player. I remember being fairly surprised because that of course happens very often in the game. However, I can't find it in the Game Rules (https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/announcement/17-world-of-warships-game-rules/). Where could I have read that?
-
Well, maybe you haven't noticed but turns out Manbearpig IS in fact real.

If you really want to hear your German players scream, include Lummerland as an easter egg on some special Event map or other. I even thought I saw it on the Sunray map just now. ♫ Eine Insel 🎶 mit zwei Bergen...♫

PSA: Aircraft Carrier bots removed from four Operations
FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor posted a topic in General Discussion
From https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/update-0711-rule-britannia/#operations "Four operations—Newport, Narai, Aegis, and Killer Whale—had their lineups of participating ships changed slightly. In Operation Newport, aircraft carriers Zuiho, Hiryu, and Lexington were replaced with Furutaka, Izumo, and Baltimore, respectively. In Operation Narai, the enemy aircraft carrier Ranger was replaced with battleship New York, and Lexington is no longer able to use aircraft. We also streamlined the process of how enemy ships appear. Now, the same ships will appear at certain times. In Operation Aegis, all enemy aircraft carriers were replaced with Japanese battleships, and the Allied aircraft carrier was replaced with Baltimore. In Operation Killer Whale, all enemy aircraft carriers were replaced with German and Japanese battleships." I haven't checked / can't remember off the cuff if that's actually all the carriers in Newport and Narai, but in any event, very significantly or even completely reduced air threat in these four operations, so basically no need to bring the Defensive AA consumable any more. -
Guessing they will be demounted at no cost, just as with the Halloween ships, so they will sit in your Inventory after the CB season is over.
