Caps are reset by doing damage to the capturing ship. It follows that to be consistent, capturing ships should also be reset when they are taking damage over time, i.e. as long as they are flooding or burning.

Clan battle divisions not getting full

So? I'm better in a rental ship with a not-maxed-out commander than about half the players in "real" Tier X ships I've encountered so far. Sub 50% WR and all. Seen some positioning where not having camo is really the least of the guy's problems.

    0.7.11 - General Feedback

Santa box ship drops seem to be bugged or not be working quite as advertised. I quote from the News: (https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/sales-and-deals/santa-claus-postman/) Consider this Flambass video opening a load of Santa gift boxes. At 6:23, he opens the first Santa gift box and gets a Krasny Krim. He says he already has this ship and expects to get doubloons instead. If this is correct, then as per the news, this should mean he has in fact already got all the ships from the list. Otherwise - if there were any ships from the list missing from his port - he should never have seen the box. Instead, it should have been converted off-screen into an SC with a ship he did not already own. 10:29 - Monaghan drops, which he also says he already has and expects to get the gold value. 10:36 - Second Monaghan drops from a Santa box. Even if he was wrong about the Krasny and the Monaghan before - maybe he had them in a different account, maybe he had sold them at some point and forgot about it - this second Monaghan drop tells us he very definitely has all the ships from the list at this point. Because he must have had it after the first drop and the second one did not get converted into an SC with a different ship. 12:44 - Roma drops from a Santa box, which he says he also has already. But then - 14:54 Supercontainer drops a Marblehead, which he says is one of the few ships he didn't already have. This should not be possible as we have established that at this stage, he definitely must have all the ships from the list in port. If he was right about having the Krasny and Monaghan (edit but did in fact not have all of the other ships, too), this SC conversion drop should have happened right at the start, instead of the first Krasny. If he was wrong about the having the Krasny and Monaghan, the SC conversion should have happened instead of the second Monaghan drop. And not that it is relevant at this stage but - 15:33 Supercontainer drops a Gascogne, which he says he also didn't already have. 17:24 - A second Krasny Krim drops from a Santa box. Edit: The same thing also occurred in the Jingles Santa gift box video. 1:40 – Monaghan drops from Santa Crate; he says he has it already 3:57 – Second Monaghan drops from Santa Crate 4:19 Says he already has all the ships on the „list of super rare ships“ 4:55 – Kronshtadt drops from a Supercontainer If this went the way it was supposed to, following the rules set forth in the News text linked above, the SC should already have dropped instead of the first Monaghan. However, when the Kronshtadt drops, Jingles explains there are in fact two lists, one with the "ultra-rare premiums" (by which he means Belfast, Kami and similar OP discontinued ships, which are not rare in the game at all - they just rarely drop from any kind of loot boxes) and he already had all but one, Kronshtadt, from the big 57-ship list. However, that still doesn't explain these ship drops. What it did do is make me take yet another look at the News bulletin, and I noticed for the first time that it said these are "the simplified rules." In that case, I'd very much like to know where I can read the full and unabridged version of the rules, because these "simplified" ones seem to be so much at odds with what is actually dropping from the crates that they appear to not be "simplified" but flat-out false. The description text of the gift boxes in the actual shop is not it, because it is consistent with the News bulletin, and also only mentions a single list of ships. Also, they are not so much "rules" as the description of a product offered for purchase. So if they are false, that's legally actionable.

    Clan Battle Season "North"

I've played a fair number of Clan battles with my new clan now. It doesn't seem to say how many exactly in the in-game profile menu but it has to be around maybe two, three dozen or more. Yet, on my WoWs.eu profile page, it says I have no Clan battles, and the Matchmaking monitor is also duped, telling people I played "less than ten games in the current ship". Now I don't mind really, it's actually kind of a benefit because it makes many opponents tunnelvision fairly heavily on killing me, often turning them into easy prey for my team mates. But still. Is this because I only play rental ships? It does seem a bit buggy.

    Royal Navy Event & Collection

The requirements for the directive "Hero's Mark" call for three achievements, which can be achieved "in Random, Twilight, Co-Op, Ranked, or Scenario battle." However, no Ranked battles are currently on, and there won't be any by the time this directive needws to be completed. Clan battles are on. But clan battle achievements will not be counted toward completing this directive. It would have been nice if they were. Also I'm curious to know what achievements are awarded in Co-Op. The Four-goal haul has been discontinued. Some starter achievement maybe? And what about Twilight battles, are there any achievements for those?

Santa Claus Containers: A Time of Gifts! - Discussion Thread

Either I don't get it or the Ship drops are bugged / not working as advertised. I just watched the video of Flambass opening a load of Santa gift boxes. First box holds a Krasny Krim which he says he has already and will be converted to gold. Some boxes later contain 2x Monaghan and a Roma, which he also says he already has. So according to the News bulletin, that should mean that he in fact already has all the ships on the Santa list, because it says otherwise the Santa box with a ship he already had would have been converted into a Supercontainer with a ship he didn't already have. But then comes 15:02 where he gets a Supercontainer with a Marblehead in it. I quote the text from the News: So what should have happened is that first Krasny Krim should have been converted to the Marblehead Supercontainer, shouldn't it?! And the first Monaghan box should have been converted into the SC with the Gascogne he got after the Marblehead. EDIT: I just thought of an alternative possible explanation, which is that Flambass might be confused and have multiple accounts, and he in fact had all those ships in his main account, but he was logged into some other account he may have when he opened the loot boxes. However, that would only explain the first Krasny Krim and the first Monaghan. But there comes a second Monaghan right away. This could only be possible if the Krasny and Monaghan had been the only two ships missing in that putative other account. So it still doesn't explain the Supercontainers and the second Krasny.

    Miss dream

Wrong. It makes a crapload more credits. "No brakes on the money train." Several hundred thousands even out of mediocre defeats. There was a TV comedy once with a guy who had supernatural gambling luck. He regarded the casino as his personal bank and went there regularly to "withdraw" some money. (Which is a pun in German where the word for "casino" is literally "gambling bank".) Missouri is just like that.

Belgium is really a funny little country. They regard loot boxes in video games to be gambling that they must protect people from. But they have no qualms forcing half of Europe into a radioactive fallout lottery EVERY DAY they are running their ancient, crumbling nuclear reactors in Tihange and Doel.

    Bug Reports

I just had a weird crash or glitch or whatever you might want to call it. I had just entered a Random battle in my Atago when suddenly the "waiting" icon appeared, and after a few seconds, the game just dropped me back into port. It was unlike any previous disconnect, you know when the ship suddenly "stops" while the bow wave still keeps washing on even though the ship is at a standstill, and then you go to the login screen. None of that - I was just back in port again. And also I was unable to quit the game. it just hung forever in the confirmation screen ("Exit the game - Are you sure?") I had to kill the process using the Windows (7) Task-Manager. I restarted the game immediately and it was up again after about half a minute tops, so the Tier IX battle could not possibly have been over already. I just hit the (Random) Battle button again bu the game would not let me enter a battle in the Atago. I haven't watched the replay yet. 20181207_210828_PJSC038-Atago-1944_18_NE_ice_islands.wowsreplay Currently, it won't let me log back on, "You have been disconnected from the server. Technical issues found. Try again later or contact Customer Service." And this just a few games after my badobest side bars finally decided to start working again...

Santa's gifts are here! Please, share your loot.

Bought 20 Mega boxes so far. Besides a whole bunch of Streamer camos and special signals (mostly Leviathans - some Basilisks - couple Ourobros), I got 8K of gold and two ships, both duplicates? Supercontainers: USS Arizona (meh, would not buy due to lack of AA - but hey) and Lo Yang, which I'd had had my eye on for some time without quite bringing myself to shell out the dough. So I am fairly satisfied, even though I had of course hoped for a Kamikaze. Might buy another 20 before the season is out.

    Twilight Battle

I don't see a agood reason not to have a "Battle on" button like in Random etc. Unlike Operations, you can play all the ships again right away after a battle. There isn't even the rsk to run out of camos and inadvertently go naked into the next game. So why force players to go back to port?

    How to fix dispersion

My experience is it can be very helpful, especially with cruiser players waiting for the BB to open fire to start the dodge. Then you know which way they turn; in fact they are in the turn, which is one of the easiest shots to take. So you can then quickly adjust your aim and give them all the other turrets.

Which nation and/or tree is the best to start with?

It doesn't really matter since a) any kind of national specific "flavor" doesn't come out until the higher tiers; b) ships are unlocked super quickly in the low tiers (II through IV); c) many of these supposed "national flavors" are subject to inconsistencies and breaks and exceptions. So you can try all manner of things without really missing out on much; there isn't really a risk of getting too invested in any one direction. That said, I do recommend to go with either or both of the two biggest nations at the beginning, i.e. Japan and/or USA. If only because they have more options. The one thing you should definitely do though, especially if you don't plan to spend any or much real money on the game, is get an invite-code (if you haven't already) and use that to set up your account. Or if you did already set up an account wthout one, abandon that account (for now) and set up a new one with an invite code. The benefit may not be immediately apparent but in a month, you will be glad you did. Besides my Wallet Warrior main account, I started a few almost completely F2P accounts just to see what it's like from the perspective of grown experience. As a F2P player, the going can get really tough even at Tier VI already, although maybe it's not quite as harsh any more now that WG have introduced discounts and things like the Arsenal and Daily Shipments and such, and generally more free stuff. But still. In order to have decent games and bolster your credit income, and also have some fun in the process, it is a good idea to grind the American destroyer (DD) line up to the Nicholas as quickly as possible, as well as the Japanese DD line up to the Minekaze and the US battleship (BB) line at least up to the Wyoming. These, as well as some of their predecessors like the highly overpowered (OP) Tier IV DDs Isokaze and Clemson, are ships you might be wanting to retain even after progressing to much higher levels. Starting with Tier V, even the faintest remnants of protection for new players fall by the wayside and things will get a lot harder. At the same time though, that is where all manner of Events and Combat Missions and Challenges come in and yield all manner of enhancements (camos, signal flags etc.) So you want to quickly get a few ships to access that source. Also, getting ships like these very quickly and playing them every day for a month is your chance to get your hands on a free premium HMS Dreadnought, and as a Brit you will probably kick yourself if you miss out on that. It involves winning at least six battles in ships of Tier V or above, per day, on at least 20 days until New Year. Probably more like eight or ten such daily wins though. So if you want that, then you need to get cracking and keep at it until after Christmas. By the time you've reached T V, things will hopefully become a lot clearer all by themselves and from looking at the tech tree alone, as well as growing insight into the game mechanics and in-game economy. Regarding the British cruisers, I don't think they're particularly hard to play but they are decidedly different than all other nations' cruisers, already fairly early on and quite consistently so. At Tier V, where the game gets harder anyway, the line includes a ship that is regarded by many players as painfully underpowered and weak. I don't think it's that bad actually, especially after the most recent buffs. In fact I quite like plucky little Emerald. But the fact is you need to play her carefully and really use your head to make her work, especially when uptiered, and not rush in like a fool, and she is a definitely more "situational" than all other T V cruisers. And if you don't bring that off, then she will be a dreadful grind that holds you back and stands in your way to the far stronger higher tier ships of that line. Leander is competitive, Fiji is very strong and if Edinburgh and Neptune struggle, then it is mainly because of the uptiered matchmaking at their place in the game. Minotaur is top notch. And it's a similar story with the Royal Navy DDs, Tier II to VI are absolutely nothing special but then comes the cracking Jervis at Tier VII and makes up for all of it.

Engine boost should not be working when the engine is disabled or defective and running in "Last Stand" emergency mode. It would be dangerous and stupid to increase engine power to emergency levels when the engine had been damaged by weapons fire anyway. Or better yet, triggering engine boost on a defective engine should incur a significant detonation risk.

    Credits and T8+ ships

Not a good reason. I don't. If the things you can do with these ships don't matter to you, there is little point in getting one. Not true. There are plenty of clans out there who don't. Some are just in it for the economic benefits and not for clan battles. They are looking for regular players who contribute their three daily containers as often as they can. Others will take you because they want to play Clan Battles and have trouble filling their teams, and will be glad about you helping out, even with your rental ships. They might not the best players but then you aren't, either. They can still be good company. First thing is join a clan. Any clan that will have you. Precisely for the econonomic benefits. Next thing - Christmas discounts coming up - shop for a good deal on premium acc't. It will turn all your silver ships into semi-premiums instantly. More effective than any ship you could buy. Last year's good deal was ~60 Euros for a full year. Anything below that is not a good deal. What with WoWs being in the hot water it is in, they should be glad about any takers and offer better incentives. And rather than fixating on T10 ships - 1) grind Commander XP => gradually max out first one commander, than another one etc. by focusing as much XP as possible on him. Use the best guy from the nation you have the most premium ships of - specialize him on a silver ship. That way, you can use him on many ships and thus utilize the first daily win bonus of all these ships toward your (Elite) Commander XP. 2) grind all the promo ships from events. Especially promo ships from the bigger nations (which they usually are.) The more premiums - the more round-robin with your top captains - the more Commander XP. Discover your inner seal clubber. It might be harder to make some of them work for you than others. But it will make you a more well-rounded player and you can always sell them for the port slot if you just hate them too much.
