WoWs flaws and how to fix them (maybe)

Well, there are several suggestions on the table in the OP, so what's your opinion about those? Edit: The "arming the seals / levelling the playing field" approach.

How QuickyBaby would fix World of Tanks

Frankly, Mam, I don't give a damn. You could have been even more unconstructive if you put in just a liiitle bit of effort you know. Edit: I wasn't even half way through watching the video when I posted it and now that I have watched it all, there is a lot more in there which is also pertinent in similar ways to WoWs besides the question of tutorials. I shall now proceed to extract all of these, convert them to their WoWs equivalent and put them up for discussion in the Gameplay subforum, after which a modified extract shall be posted to the Suggestions thread.

Twilight - red / white circles?

Hi, in Twilight battles, there is a green healing circle around Leviathan when its heal is active, to show the healing zone. But what are the red and white circles that sometimes crop up? I finally got my Rasputin and though it would become clear when I saw its consumables but it did not. They are not range based. Varg's Matter Restorer consumable is, but if that's the cause of one of the circles, I was too busy braling to notice it...

    "specifications". Please.

    Suggestions thread

WoWs should take a page out of mature content games like RUST. Not the least in view of its player base, which does seem to be getting on a bit. But in the service of the unsporting conduct sanctioning thingy is what I'm talking about. If customer service deems a rule infraction complaint justified, the injured party should be allowed to claim one of the perpetrator's ships. Either for his own port or if he already has it - doubloon compensation. THAT'd teach them to behave.

    Twilight Battle

I notice team mates increasingly shooting and torping each other at the start of the game. Apparently their is no team damage in this mode, similar to operations? Because that would be ridiculous. I see no good reason for that.

    A few noob questions...

Sure, sure. "Load up the HE and screw people over" was your advice on how to play it if I remember correctly. Just like a Battleship. Not. Because it's a lot faster than Wyoming, has a faster reload than Wyoming, the guns turn quicker than Wyoming and even the smaller number of guns is still ample against cruisers. IOW because it's a battlecruiser.

premıum shop why poor chrıstmas tıme ??

To sell more Christmas boxes of course. And they're possibly not that crappy. Just look at the respective thread. Many people have gotten several times the money's worth of premium ships out of the "crappy" Santa boxes. Me included - currently I received about 1.5x the nominal Premium shop prices' worth in premium ships alone. That's not even including the attached port slots and 10-pt commanders, let alone the 10 or 12K of gold and a load of camos and flags. Granted, many are not ships I actually wanted... or wanted very badly... and also I have a problem with WG's "rules" aka product description (which, even though it did match my own ship drops, did not match the ship drops in the Jingles and Flambass videos at least.) But so far, they at least they were fairly cheap, all things considered.

Console Ready CV's....We all told you so ;-)

The hypothesis is of course complete BS since WoWs and WoWs Legends (the console game) are not just different versions of the same game. They are incompatible to a degree that they might as well be called two different games. Nothing, literally nothing about Legends necessitated the CV rework. Very obviously they don't even intend to eventually merge the player bases, not even in the distant future. Otherwise they would not have made it such a different game.

    Yamato- How to position?

"Positioning is difficult." Seriously. There is this whole YT video by Flamu with that exact title.

WG plans to introduce bots in WoT, after WoWp. WoWs next?!

Well, I know a way to grow it rapidly and massively. You "just" (tee hee) need to make it so that console players play the same game, on the same servers, with the PC crowd. Of course for that to happen, you must not focus your development efforts on creating a largely different game that is incompatible from the very outset.

    A few noob questions...

    2) There is the completely ridiculous "x marks the spot" function on the minimap. Note the little circle in the direction you are looking / aiming. It used to be a mod (which was even better because it actually used an x, not a circle) - then it got incorporated into the game. However, that mainly helps with blind shots and a bit with smoke shooting, not so much with long distance accuracy. For that, you need to develop good aim, which is a difficult process that requires lots of time and practice. There are some YT videos about it like Notser's "Improve your aim". Also you need a ship with accurate guns, which would usually be a cruiser, preferably with high shell speed => heavy cruisers, especially Russian ones, but also all the other nations that have them. Or a higher tier Japanese BB. 3) It's called "WASD hack", aka varying course and speed, aka not sailing in straight lines. The first step is just making this a habit. Especially whenever there is a chance being in range of ships equipped with torpedoes. For example - and especially - ALWAYS in front of an enemy smoke screen. To my knowledge, there is only one single ship in the game that has smoke but no torpedoes (HMS Belfast). Zigzagging is usually beneficial even when there is no chance of torps, or at least it does not hurt. It only hurts if you need to get somewhere fast, because it obviously costs time. That's one of the reasons why you have to think ahead a few moves in this game - to avoid finding out too late that you should have been somewhere sooner. Try playing DDs and other torpedo-equipped ships yourself for a while. It gives you a better feel for what they might be trying to do. And it will help you memorize their torp ranges. At any rate, find out which DDs can torp from beyond their concealment range and which ones can't. The latter need to find other ways to hit you, like using land cover or smoke cover, and/or do YOLO runs from ambushes. Also, as a general rule, turn into torpedoes, not away from them. Counter-intuitively, it usually makes evasion easier and increases the chances of success. Search YT for "torpedobeats". Watch Yuro videos. Die of envy for those skills. There is more you can do though, like saving your damage control party for when you do get hit and the ship starts flooding. As a general rule, in any ship with a repair party, do not use the damage control to put out a single fire. The repair party can repair all of the fire damage. You can even start it while the fire is still burning. When you get three fires, or your health gets really low while on fire, then you can consider using damage con, but not before. You might want to use damage con on a disabled gun turret, because you risk the turret being completely taken out of action, should it get hit a second time before it is repaired. In situations like that, you just need to make a risk assessment, and then you have to accept the trade-off. Whenever your repair is on cooldown, you risk a fatal flooding on a torpedo hit. 4) Edit: You can see for yourself which ships are on sale by checking the respective page in the premium shop (https://eu.wargaming.net/shop/wows/vehicles) and the tech tree of the game, where other ships may be on offer for gold doubloons or Free XP. Edit 2: And of course the Arsenal, though I'd rather spent the small amount of real money instead of losing coal over a low tier ship. Check the Wiki for ships that may have been available earlier. If you want to torture yourself. Do not buy a Mikasa unless you are prepared for a cute but largely useless, silly and frustrating little ship. Also don't buy a Katori unless you are a really patient type. It is a cruiser with the speed and agility of a slow battleship, even though its few guns are very accurate and also have the range of a battleship. I do play it sometimes when the mood strikes me but then I got it for free through some promo. Do buy an Ishizuchi, although it is neither the one nor the other but a battlecruiser, and do buy a Yubari if you must. It has the same guns as Katori and they are really good. But do watch some YT videos of these ships and read up on them on this forum before you shell out money. You can find out what ships are in the game, besides much more stuff, from the Wiki. http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/World_of_Warships Edit: Tachibana (with or without Lima) is also not very good and makes you work very hard for your wins. But at least it is super cheap. The Lima version has been on sale for 89 Euro cents for a while now in the premium shop, which means you can always sell it to use the port slot for something else with zero regrets. 5) Full manual AA is a four-point commander skill, as is manual secondaries fire control. You can focus these auxuliary armaments even without the skill though. Read up on the wiki on what all of that does. 6) The depot is called "inventory" and it only becomes available at account level 13 => read Wiki. To see what you get charged for after the battle, read the respective bill on the fourth post-battle screen, "Credits & XP". 7) AP pen is super complicated since the algorithm takes into account the angle of incidence and the shell speed. You can get lots of overpens even "in the middle". The Wiki was no great help, last I looked. Watch Wargaming's "How it Works" series on Youtube, watch lots of Flamu tutorials. Search this forum, there once were specialised posts with lots of math, graphs and tables. 8) The citadel is the only area, deep inside a target ship, where your shells even have a theoretical chance of actually doing the maximum amount of damage as specified in the Wiki. Those yuge numbers they talk about in all those YT video reviews. If they penetrate the citadel. Should they only penetrate the outer hull but don't get through to the citadel, it's at most a third of that value. Overpens - at most ten per cent. This is what makes DDs so resilient: They do not have a citadel. Hence, any shells aimed at a DD are robbed of 60% to 90% of their theoretical effectiveness before they even leave the muzzle.

    Freeze Rubberband

I have low bandwidth on a DSL landline and this happens when the Wargaming updater is active in the background, I think it's automatically downloading the latest World of Tanks patch. Just check with the taskmanager (assuming it is a Windows PC) and shut down the process.

    Kurfürst Triple turrets

As long as they retain that crappy dispersion, and the ship remains Kitakaze fodder - does it really matter that much?

Developer Bulletin 0.7.12 - Discussion Thread

Boy they really have a way of putting both feet in their mouth, haven't they. I'm referring of course to the name of the Eitel Friedrich event, "In the name of His Highness". Do Wargaming seriously not realize that The Kaiser has been universally despised all over the world at least since, oh, say 1945? Even half of Germany really started hating his guts already by the end of WWI. Russians and their fascination with "strong men". Sometimes it feels as though the 20th century completely passed them by.

WG can you please lower the xp reward for last 4 players

Sadly, I need to point out this is what us Germans call a "milk maid's bill". It is not a win/win for WG because there is another direction that a fraction of players would take: getting frustrated and dropping out of the game. Besides getting players to spend money, another of WG's goals is to keep the player population on the servers as high as possible so players can have short wait times and can have real people as opponents instead of bots when they want to. Simplifying things(!), the key overall goal seems to be to keep some sort of balance between bad players dropping out in frustration and good players dropping out in frustration (while minimizing the overall drop-out rate and preferably gaining new players all the time.) Your suggestion might decrease the one but would increase the other. The question is to what point, and how it would affect the overall balance. In addition to that, WG are in the process of introducing the CV "rework", which will more or less inevitably cull a fraction of the player base anyway, and a highly skilled fraction at that, namely the carrier mains, which are not interested in FPS gameplay. Now their hope is probably to make up for that by getting back a larger number of players who dropped out in frustration earlier - frustration over all the frustrating influence of CVs on the game. However, judging by some of the latest write-ups from testers, that is by no means a foregone conclusion because as things stand, players will keep getting blapped by overpowered carriers. Only it will be easier for the carrier players, so it will happen more often and carried out by greater morons.

Santa's gifts are here! Please, share your loot.

I suppose this is as good a time and place as any to bring up for a third time this week on this forum that the ship drops do not occur the way WG says they would. Or at least they didn't in two popular streamers' YT vids. While thinking about this some more, from Jingles' confusing statements especially I get the impression WG maybe gave the CCs different info or maybe even the full and unabridged "rules", as opposed to the "simplified" <cough> ones set forth in the News.

Will old ship models be improved?

As in "stop abusing player's PCs for bitcoin mining or whatever it is that they do with our systems while we're in port"

should battlecruisers be added to the UK tree

There are already battlecruisers / supercruisers in the game, they are gaining in importance and it is high time Wargaming gave them their own tech tree class. This in order to give them their own matchmaking and stop things like all-Stalingrad teams in Clan battles.

Watch a Stream – Receive a Free Container! - Discussion Thread

So is it just me? Am I being old-fashioned again? Or does seriously nobody at Wargaming Marketing realize what an incredibly bad look this is? The message is "We need to bribe people to watch streams of our game." And "watching" is really glorifying it because what people of course do is just turn on the stream, mute the sound and do something else. I imagine even banner ads would be more effective. So the only way anyone at Wargaming benefits from this is if they can turn up at a middle marketing management meeting and present some uptic in viewer stats to an even older fart than me who really doesn't get the first thing about streaming, social media etc. which I really didn't think would be the kind of person to work there, let alone have some kind of leadership position. (Then again, I mean Rudy Giuliani is currently the top cybersecurity honcho of the US government, so what do I know... but I digresssss... anyway...) As a user who can still remember the bad old dial-up days, this kind of useless, nay detrimental waste of bandwidth makes me seriously ... unhappy.

Why do so many people prioritize firing at the Furutaka?

She was strong even before the most recent Japanese cruiser buff. Since then, Flamu has put out a video deeming her overpowered ("Didn't need the buff"). So she's probably perceived as the biggest threat by many players.

    Bogus amounts of ship XP

Hi I just noticed I allegedly have over 700K ship XP on my Orlan. That is by far the largest amount of frozen ship XP on any of my ships and it is completely inexplicable. I'm not one of these frequent Tier I players. Wowsnumbers shows 13 Battles in that particular ship, top result: 626 base XP. I was going to mention it in Current Updates - Bug reports but wanted to make sure first that it's not one of my frequent oversights of something normal and obvious again. I've checked all my other ships and all their numbers look plausible.

Aaaah so it must be mostly Svjatozar XP. Thx!

Clan battle divisions not getting full

You can't mount camos on rental ships. It's not a money or ressources issue, it is disabled by WG so players with their own Tier Xs retain a little advantage for putting in the grind.
