One thing I also do still like about tier 5, is the maps.

Back in the day I got Texas for free. I would have bought a premium Kongo back then, but none were ever available and when I finally got the ARP Kongos years later, my stance about tier 5 had already changed significantly. I still remember playing Texas in Raptor Rescue before tier 5 ships were barred from playing tier 6 ops (iirc it was due to complaints about tier 5 ships and its players not being able to pull their weight, resulting in more losses). I did buy the Cesare, but barely played it, mostly due to carriers and the Kamikazes effectively make me not want to even bother playing tier 5 premiums anymore. basically same reason I barely ever bother with the ARP Kongos even though I'm still very happy to have them. Apart from the coal snowflakes, they seem rather useless these days. I don't particularly enjoy seal clubbing, so for me that's not a valid reason to play these tiers either.

It was probably mentioned in a twitch stream (yes back in 2018 I was watching those too! ) and I don't think 3 year old streams are there anymore. So it's probably long gone by now.

It would depends on whether or not the Groningen will be nerfable, as Friesland isn't Friesland would then be the better choice. Ships being nerfable is kinda a dealbreaker seeing that only the top of the company gets to basically dictate what gets nerfed and what gets left alone. I'm talking about then having to trust the same people that came up with the NTC

If you have a 21pt captain on either ship, it won't matter anymore which nation the ship is in as both Dutch and EU 21pt captains dump their excess CXP into the same CXP pool.

It's still 3 vs 1, which is a challenge most of the times anyway regardless of what is being played.

As long as WoWS player numbers and income aren't dropping, there apparently is no problem. Things will only really start changing as long as the total amount of players keep dropping. Same thing happened to WoT in regards of them making the game worse over time.

There was also a project to convert one of the Iowa BBs to such a hybrid btw.

One reason is enough And lets face it, this is a really good reason. Sounds more like you just don't want to hear it. Interesting on the lighthouse build. I never heard of that terminology before for such a build.

This is kinda true though. People who play randoms and especially ranked are the one who are the most shafted ones. For people playing coop (like myself actually as I can't stand randoms these days and especially ranked which is just a terrible gamemode) this is a mild extra advantage they have gotten from this. People playing ops never got signals for their rewards so for them this also isn't much of a nerf (but it still kinda hurts for players who play multiple gamemodes).

A more important question may be....how does it affect ops?

It's not russian. So they gave it more disadvantages than advantages. If this had been a russian ship, it would have gotten the best armor to mitigate the maximum amount of damage when angled, icebreaker bow, highest shell velocity, a captain with a get-outa-jail-free-card, best armor vs CVs, radar (oops, almost they actually got radar, of course) and best pen angles oh and also best shell damage and shell pen characteristics. On top of being tanky. Then this ship line would have gotten 1 or 2 drawbacks to balans it like only 4 heals instead of 5 (which is fully compensated by the better armor and lower chance to catch a fire). But unfortunately it is not russian, so it has to be a stinker. In most ways at least.

So cruisers have been on a slow but steady decline from februari 2020, roger. Kinda funny that the release of that (in most regards mediocre) line actually caused a decrease in overall cruiser plays, interesting.

I'd say the meta right now is 5BB, 4DD (used to be 5DD back a couple years back before WG put that soft limit on DDs per side) and 3 other ships (3CC, 2CC/1CV or 1CC/2VC, with the 2CV option being (afaict) quite rare these days, thankfully). And the BB overpopulation meme has been old and moldy for years now. BBs aren't a problem because they are so visible and easiest to work around with DDs and CVs being the most influential due to their conceilment and deadly torps, or ability to fly across the map and basically attack any target whereever, whenever they want. The removal of CC survival skills (and to a lesser extend the skill that increases fire chance) has certainly not helped cruiser players.

From reading this, I would assume that this would cause winning bids to differ depending on how much the top 5000 of each server would bid. 5000 for each server, because it clearly states that the number of winners are the same for the CIS, EU, NA and ASIA servers. If the winning bids are the same on each server, then this information we were given prior to bidding is incorrect. Whether or not this was done out of lazyness or on purpose or an oversight (with oversight and lazyness being actually pretty much similarly lacking) is fairly irrelevant.

Thus far, I've seen people bid anything from 25m and 1 credit to over 120m. Haven't seen any extreme bids thus far, but perhaps they won't let their (over)bids know out of shame or something?
