So what's supposed to be so good about this ship again? (Henri IV)
NothingButTheRain posted a topic in General Discussion
So I dropped IFHE for Henri, as this was basically what everyone recommended to me. I hadn't had time to test out these changes on this ship, but I had a battle in which I had 93 hits, 41 of these were shatters! And even though I have specced DE I got a laughable 2 fires. On top of that, the enemy Audacity went to attack me with a SINGLE bomber when I was at like 1k hp left or so, I did the O click, bomber (yes ONE BOMBER!!!) came through my defenses and I gto killed. 53k damage done, why is this ship so bad? I don't know, I never liked this ship that much to begin with but I am not seeing the good sides here. I know this ship is (or was) supposed to be a counter to the Russian ships, but without IFHE it seems I get a lot of shatters while getting hardly any fires at all. What is this thing supposed to be? Anyone care to enlighten me? -
Maybe time to introduce Heroic (and Honorable?) medals which caters to Destroyers (and maybe CV?)
NothingButTheRain replied to Brinckie's topic in General Discussion
Im not ingame right now, but perhaps WG removed the ability to earn the flooding signals with the Liquidator award? Iirc it was something along those lines, because Liquidator became virtually impossible to get post-flooding rework. Kinda odd that WG never reworked the Liquidator award alongside the flooding rework. -

There already is a speshuul award for destroyers, it's called Detonation And lots of people farm it Hail to the detonation! If DDs get a special award, how about an award for every DD which manages to not die within the first 10 minutes? Wouldn't that be special and easy to farm for any half decent DD player. Btw, on a more serious note now, I like the spotting damage and the # torps spotted ones. Especially spotting torps is really underappreciated but it helps so much when screening ahead. Issue is that to remain unspotted, a DD player will often miss out on doing a lot of damage. I also like the potential damage one. And now that I'm thinking about it, wouldn't it make sense to not have the Detonation award reward you with 10 deto signals? I can see some cheapskates deliberately not flying a deto signal till they get detonated at least once on a certain day? -
Don't forget that the weekends are particularly bad when playing randoms solo

WG destroyed Narai XP gains, but at least they fixed bots pathing issues
NothingButTheRain replied to Bics93's topic in General Discussion
It's not just about the XP, it's the total package that matters. If WG would focus merely on making a great game, WoWS would have been even more enjoyable then it currently is with fewer of the hickups But we all know there's more to it to making a game work, including the financial part. You can't focus on one aspect of the matter while ignoring the rest. The thing is that there are people who simply do not get bored as easily of playing the same operation. Same thing with some people getting bored more quickly from playing randoms or coop, different peoples have different tastes I can't tell how many exact operations I have played, but judging from me having over 10k battles as shown by my forum profile while having roughly 8k random and coop battles combined, I could guestimate that the total number of operations I have played is in excess of 2k and my total number of awards received in operations also numbers >2k and I still like em What makes operations feel fresh is the people I play them with and the missions I can complete in them, as well as being able to do some heavy carrying while getting rewarded for it. -

Tbf, for some reason I never really clicked that well with his ship anyway (from memory, I didn't look up my old stats) like I did with the La Ga, CM and Algerie. The tier 9 and 10 have a different consumable loadout, perhaps it had something to do with that? I don't know, the top tiers from this line always seemed kinda bulky to me for some reason. I got La Ga during the 2017 xmas event iirc, so I never grinded through the tier 5 in that line. -

NothingButTheRain replied to Bics93's topic in General Discussion
But what would be the point if nobody played them after a nerf? Wargaming has already stated that in their opinion, operations are already hardly popular enough to warrant any kind of attention. What would you think will happen if the relatively little incentive to keep playing these operations also dissipates? Before you know it, you might have clapped for helping operations get the first leg into their coffin -
Definitely true. But it was always a toss-up and totally independent of skill as who got the unicum CV was totally random. Lower tiers definitely get a lot of carrier, but I have actually had several games without any carriers. Don't get me wrong, I am not downplaying this issue (and imo this is an issue). Apparently there is demand for CV players playing some kind of simplified aerial farming gamemode. Perhaps WG should nerf the tier 4 carriers and give us a rewarding carrier operation? Just a hint @ wargaming There's all kinds of creative ways to solve issues like these. The only downside I can see with this is that Kamikazes will have virtually no real competition anymore again.

I think so, yes.

It does counter something. It counters that which I have already explained. It could do some serious damage in the exact way as I have explained. Perhaps it not sailing into cover behind the island right away was not intended, but since it did what it did (not move behind that island right away), its function was as I explained. And the function it fulfills is that of being a counter which frankly made it more challenging for me and my teammates. Dunno why you are trying to be so negative about this ship, but this ship has been this way for a long time now (iirc got changed the same time when a couple of the ships like the Atlanta stopped moving around the large island at I9 from the west side to more recently passing the I9 island from the east side). -
Just to add to what's already been mentioned, the permacamo is the arctic camo for the DoY. There exist to me knowledge 3 of these Arctic camos in the game. The other ones are for Scharnhorst (I got it from some NY event a couple years ago I think, around the same time I got the DoY and its camo I think?) and the other one is for the Edin (tier 8 tech tree cruiser, I bought it with april fools tokens or something about a year ago?). The logo for the Edin arctic camo looks a bit different in color, more dark tone. All 3 camos look really cool though

NothingButTheRain replied to Bics93's topic in General Discussion
No it doesn't what? Which part of my post are you referring to with this? And being the CV killer in a Scharnhorst is not something which would typically happen outside of a group of random plebs. With a cruiser, first thing we would usually do, is see where the DD was going. If he went with the CV, the DD would have to be destroyed before he could launch his torps. The Phoenix, try to citadel it. Both these tasks are trickier to successfully pull off with a Scharnhorst. -
Do XP camo or flags effect Base XP?
NothingButTheRain replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
Next patch the lack of deto signal won't be of any significance anymore as one can mount all economic signals alongside mounting the 8 signals we can all mount right now. -
I do. Before the rework, you could get an average pleb as carrier in your team and a super unicum Saipan player in the other team which could make the difference in power between the 2 teams so insurmountable that I could just as well throw down my mouse and keyboard right there and go make myself a cup of coffee as the unicum could delete anyone at will, when and if he wanted to. That doesn't mean that post-rework carriers are better at everything. Playing in double carrier games these days often feels as fun and engaging as being thrown into a pond filled with piranhas

NothingButTheRain replied to Bics93's topic in General Discussion
Care to fill me in on what is so special about that ship? It's been there from before narai got removed, always seemed to spawn, move forward till it hit something or stopped by itself, reversed a bit and started moving forward again, this time successfully passing the island at H10. My guess is that a long time ago, this ship was purposefully put there to provide resistance to cruisers coming from where the CV went and to kinda force battleships coming in to take the flank at 10 line to make a risk-assessment to either angle in and potentially receive torps from the Farragut (I think it was a Farragut) or to keep steaming the same course (which needed to be done very well timed and rapidly) and risk receiving a packet of shells into your broadside. -

NothingButTheRain replied to Bics93's topic in General Discussion
This was only if you would win all the time and is harder to set up compared to most other game modes. On top of that, an often forgotten economic disadvantage for operations is that none of the awards come with signal flags like they do in randoms and especially in ranked where almost every pleb can get High Caliber in just a few tries. Each award that gives signals, gives 10 signals (except for 1 of those awards which awards just 1) which won't need to be purchased for coal or for credits anymore. Operations are also mostly not valid ways to grind the directives (probably even incompletable if you stay within operations all the time which afaik nobody does), so there's another thing that apparently gets forgotten most of the time. Setting up an effective group also takes considerably more time (or go rush and end up in a group of non-english "if narai" plebs who are factually hardly any better when compared to random plebs anyway), which is time not played. Operations has none of these economic benefits and this seems to get neglected when discussing this matter. But these do matter.- 70 replies

Graf Spee For OPs. A Sound Investment?

This basically sums up my opinion about this potential purchase @Sir_Sinksalot Otoh though, as a tier 6 premium she shouldn't be that expensive anyway -

Afaic, this topic can be closed due to it being pointless imo and my question having been answered for me. -

3rd match 94 hits with 41 shatters (and 4 torp belt hits), but at least this time I got 7 fires and ended up with 70k-ish damage done. But this ship feels like a deadweight to me. This ship is puke. I'm probably gonna ask this topic be closed since it is pointless now. This ship is doing nothing for me except costing me credits (yes even with Ocean Soul and Zulu and premium account) and giving me losses and frustration in return. FU Henri, bye. -

NothingButTheRain replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
My fire chance with the current setup is 25%. Or at least it's supposed to be 25% but it deosn't seem like it is. Imo this ship is pretty bad. If I play the ship the right way and am just getting unlucky multiple times, then perhaps this ship (almost wanted to write it with a 't' instead of a 'p', heh) is not worth my time. I'm not gonna waste my time with a ship I don't like to get the legendary. Anyway, after 3 battles I decided to mothball her and if it weren't for the snowflakes, I would have sold her by now. -

Yes, I get that. But that doesn't give me any answer that is of any use to me here. -

I've had Henri for a very long time now, but at some point I stopped playing her as I didn't find this ship particularly good even before its nerfs. It definitely got its acceleration nerfed, but to me the lack of damage is the real issue here. 2nd battle and I got an even more laughable 33k damage done with again almost half the shells shattering. Wth is this ship supposed to do here? What's its role? Because to me now this seems like the worst tier 10 ship there is and I'd sold it already if it weren't for the snowflakes. I know how to play cruisers. But I definitely can't get to grasp this one here.
