I think this is important, not everyone is eager to really get into the game and how it functions underneath. People tend to forget or go into a bit of a tunnel vision (I don't mean to say it this way to attack anyone, it's merely my limited English) and forget that people may have all kinds of reasons for being at the same place as you are. Not everyone will play the way I would want to and I can live with that. When I go into a bar not everyone is there for the same reasons as I am, I can't get mad to those people going to a bar for other reasons? Some just want to drink or want to meet people or just don't want to be at home for whatever reason. Who knows? And who am I to say the others are wrong? (unless some of the others are destructive in some way) When I play, I just try to make the best of it

    USS Alaska sighted

I've been wanting Alaska ever since I started playing WoWS and when I first learned of Kronstadt and it being designated a cruiser, I thought "If Kronstadt can be a tier 9 cruiser, then so could Alaska!". Concerning the symbol in the game...the thing with designations like these is that they are a bit arbitrary? Not only do these depend on the role of the ships (which is often, but not always, similar or at least comparable to similar ships in other navies) but also on who is doing the designating. The Deutschlands? Pocket battleships, armored cruisers or coastal defense ships? With battlecruisers it's basically the same. And when does a battlecruiser stop and a battleship start? And isn't a fast battleship just a WW2-era battlecruiser? Afaic the symbols are in some way, mostly a way to weight ships in battles to be of roughly comparable strength (kinda like tier differences also denote some sort of strength differences) and in a way Kronstadt (and maybe even Stalingrad) are cruisers by role. These were paper designs though but Alaska was really build. I given this a lot of thought and Alaska doesn't really fit in anywhere with perfect satisfaction...but she was build like a cruiser except it didn't really have any contemporaries abroad like the 8in and 6in cruisers did. Alaska was basically an upscaled cruiser and build as such. It wasn't meant to slug it out like battleships, but it sure was an odd design (which isn't unique in itself). I think Alaska doesn't really belong in tier 7 as a BB, it's really a cruiser XL.

Valuable data here, at least much more useful then any data brought forward so far. What could be deducted is that during clan battles the amount of landslide games decreases, to go back to 'normal' rates after clanbattles have ended. Also the amount of landslide wins seems otherwise relatively stable since 6.10 patch. I'm contemplating what could be the reason of the increase before 6.10, but I could assume it has something to do with players getting better and/or having more ways to dominate. The latter could be due to things like either knowing well the game mechanics, broken ships (like Belfast), perhaps even the way maps are made, or perhaps certain maps are more inviting to roflstomps, similar to how in WoT the removal of spots where one could hold out an enemy advance, would invite maps to be played more quickly. Another option is that ships have simply gotten more deadly or perhaps players have started playing more agressively. The latter here could explain at least partially the increase in quicker battles. There may be other things I haven't mentioned here, but safe to say that WoWS isn't as simple anymore as it used to be. Much appreciated @Z_OnkelE What are your own thoughts about this data?

Remove the repair ships from Operation Newport

Except that these 'potatoes' hardly even make use of this excuse to run away and leave their teams in an even bigger inferiority. These 'potatoes' seem to not really know what to do (so they for instance stay behind raptor and are oblivious to the torpedo bit) or they are less new players but simply don't really seem to care for their teammates (like people who sailed to NW of Raptor, shooting tons of damage quick and die, just so they could blame their teammate 'potatoes' for their failure of them having shotten LOTS of damage, but hardly any xp due to the team losing). Removing all repair stations + rebalance everything will result in nothing, except costing WG employees time which could be spend better elsewhere Ok, so I propose another 'solution'. To solve these 'goddamn donkeys' not being able to protect the perimeter..how about we simple remove the perimeter from the game!

Remove the repair ships from Operation Newport

I like the repair stations as they provide a way to make a last stand. I just played a couple games and in none did we have players who camped at the back. If they made use of the repair stations at all, it would be cruisers who were a bit too yolowy and barely made it into the repair zone alive (alas I didn't make it last battle in my Budyonny ). I do like your suggestion, but I'm just not sure it will matter in the end (just look at Raptor ). Besides, the repair ships would make easy targets if they were up close at the front...but I think you are correct in that it would (shall we say) 'persuade' newer people into staying more at the front lines

Remove the repair ships from Operation Newport

So everybody is hiding in the back? Really? Everybody? Don't you think you are a bit overreacting here? Perhaps you had a bad game just now? If anything in this scenario, I see more people actually rushing the enemy waves till their death resulting in our loss instead of staying a bit more back and this is what seems to cause most of the losses in this operation. Most times the perimiter is breached, it is because of a lack of firepower or due to people reacting too late and staying at the wrong side of the perimiter so they can't be stopped in time. The quality of players is often a letdown but not because they are all cowardly campers in the back against the edges. It's because they are poor players no matter where you put them.

    Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)

It certainly helps to have a more diverse fleet sitting in your harbor, part of which being certain premiums. It may be doable without these but likely much more of a grind and less chance to actually succeed. In some way it does reward players who are dedicated to WoWS (including a part where you buy some of their stuff) but I'm not really that much against that? It was nasty with the DoY campaign but it did net nice rewards, of which I still profit to this day! (like those premium camos for tier 6 ships along with the consumables). I'm a bit partial here, but it is a chance to get a free premium (even if it's supposedly not so very good) and I'm pretty sure there will be members who can appreciate that. These missions are doable, but do require dedicated gameplay.

Ah yes, I had a couple of those though not as particularly bad as yours here I'm just glad I got this one over with, but there are a couple more nasty ones still to come Lets hope your remaining missions will be more lucky for you

I only took a smallish sample of now and over 13 months ago and noted the time it took for the battle to end. I took samples of roughly equal battles (same tiers having roughly equal representation) and I didn't note any significant decrease in the time it took for a battle to end. The less then 10 minute rule would actually make 2 landslides counted from over 3 months ago and none for now (though some battles were close to the 10m mark). I didn't note the number of kills each battle, but at least I did more counting then Redcap did Now it is up to him to solidify his statement with brutal facts that support his point of view. Frankly, I didn't note any significant decrease in landslide games and so far the numbers I looked up support this view. Actually, I think topics like this one basically just clutter up the forums Sure they can be a fun read, but it's like apple pie: You may like eating a slice once in a while, but when eating it every day the whole day it starts to become more of a chore to push through, instead of enjoying it. And I think the subterfuge adds to the forums becoming more unpleasant to read.

    indianapolis vs new orleans

Frankly, I think Pepsi is more competitive now then it was before it got downtiered. If you can handle it's peculiar quirkes, I think Pepsi can be a nice ship to play. But being able to survive in a battle is not something it can be relied on, it's a glass cannon
  11. NothingButTheRain

    MM, genuinely concerned now chaps

But being able to play more games (due to them lasting shorter) does net more xp etc. I think this is a main reason games like WoT last so short these days, they are kinda over before they properly began I don't like that fast pace, and besides WoWS seems to give significantly more xp/battle anyway, compared to WoT. So games don't even need to be shorter. If anything, shortening the duration (and thereby increasing the speed in which lines can be grinded through) could actually be to the detriment of WG as this would cause players to more quickly run out of things to do in WoWS.

Perhaps they are seeing ghosts? Or perhaps they are just trolling, I can't really take them very seriously in how they present themselves. Then how can WG? It won't make a lot of difference anyway Actually I am constantly kinda low on most signal flags I 'need' and some flags I try to not use in case I need them for some mission or so (like Victor Lima I seem to always lack). It's an important reason for me to (when not picking TYL) pick the signal containers instead of the other ones
  13. NothingButTheRain

    MM, genuinely concerned now chaps

Because that game has actual rules making it set to never be any shorter. WoWS does have these rules .... How the heck can you pretent to not know this? Are you just trolling?? You don't even state what a landslide victory is or how this can be measured, you just say stuff and it's supposedly all true, you're not making a lot of sense to me What would constitute a landslide victory anyway? I see people calling it, but not even mentioning what it is.

I play Pepsi a bit as if it were a quick-turning BB with ssllooooowww turret traverse and with no armor whatsoever (generally, don't bother angling, just make yourself a small target, dodge those shells and hope they keep missing). The reload time is like 15 seconds or so? Pepsis guns are great once they fire and it got nice AA (both DefAA if you pick that and a fighter).

Maybe I should reword it a bit, I was trying to say that it takes a while to at least get to a reasonable level of understanding this game. It may take thousands of games to get good in it, but it takes far less to be able to get average in it, provided one is willing to learn. I agree with your last bit (regarding myself, I thank Flamu for that ). I would like to mention that having an understanding of the game is not the same as being good at the game (and I'm not implying that you said this).

Frankly I don't mind +-2MM all that much. I think that having only +-1MM would make matches more boring. It's not like in WoT where you're basically a shrimp vs a shark if you end up on the bottom of a list, I don't fear ships like Montana no matter in what tier 8 ship I sail And I think you are correct in that WG won't be changing this. I do agree though that the current MM does have some issues (like newer players having a hard time forst time in tier 5, it's very hard to compete without the CE skill shich basically everyone takes...and seal clubbing maybe).
  17. NothingButTheRain

    MM, genuinely concerned now chaps

Well, if there are more landslide victories, wouldn't that decrease average time of games played? I mean you mentioned the time a battle takes right here! Now you go ahead and bring on the proof, instead of tinfoilhatting us here, we have more important fish to fry

The only fact this customer has, is that it's a fact that this customer has an opinion. Someone having a larger wallet does not make this person's statements more of a fact. And if you really want to bring forth this kinds of arguments (also being supercilious towards others who don't agree with you because you must be right, they don't agree with you, so they must be wrong!), why are you even trying to coherse the populous of being more acceptable towards 'facts' that won't hold up to pure cold hard truth in any factual way? Don't you have a piece of yourself that does think that this is just a stupid way to argument what is the truth?
  19. NothingButTheRain

    MM, genuinely concerned now chaps

There's no reason to behave in such a supercilious way. We all know for a fact that making up something more often does not make it more of a fact (except that it's a fact that it is mentioned more often, but states nothing meaningful about whether or not a statement is actually true). We all know lemmingtrains, lets not go there. Actually I find the mass-blaming of everyone towards anyone and their pizza on this forum the most annoying thing to come across here

Well, I decided to have a look at some games played very recently and over 3 months ago. Roughly same tiers (mostly tier battles 8 and above, a single 6 thrown in between) and the recent average battle duration is roughly equal to what it was over 3 months ago. Now instead of people trying to make up facts, how about you guys produce some? Ah yes, what people see, right? What people see.... What people see is stuff that results in stuff like mentioned here These people get reported because they see someone being a coward, because they absolutely know for the fact that they MUST be right! They MUST! So obviously if people 'see' battles take longer (or shorter lol) for a fact, it is actually not. Some people are better at specifying facts then others (without underbelly rantings and so forth), so I tend to stick to the facts. I took a quick look at mine and I see no decrease in average battle duration, but at least I see more then most people here. So lets dig up the facts shall we?

I can relate to some people simply not having it in them. I also got a RL friend and he played up to tier 6 or so I think? But he has a hard time grasping that it's a bad idea to start capping in a BB at the start of the match He wants to enjoy, but this game isn't the easiest to get good in. I ended up recommending him to play cruiser as it's the least harmfull way to yolo and still be the least unuseful (hey I tried to make it kinda work, please bear with me lol). With the other classes it seemed to me that playing bad would hurt the team more. And some players (like this friend of mine) didn't like the veeery slow turret traverse of BBs and is more for the quick action, in which he fails miserably (so bad idea to make this game more fast pace, like in WoT). It took a long time for me to become as good as I am now while playing mostly tier 8 these days, I think new players (often without a clan even) who play reasonably and are basically anonymous and die without anyone noticing...these are some of the most useful in the game as they also never complain and get toxic towards other teammembers. They are kinda the forgotten ones and I sometimes end up chatting to one of them after a battle. They often have trouble getting around the UI and don't really understand how to ping the map etcetera (which to me is perfectly understandable as it took a long while for me to find out too).
  22. NothingButTheRain

    report reason

And for playing Saipan/Kaga/CV with AP bombs I get reported for being a coward BB in the most ridiculous situations. I get reported for camping in the back while being next to a cap. I get accused for being coward even when I'm down 40% hp and after having mentioned 1 minute or so before that I was out of heals. I see people pinging the map as to make everyone think I'm doing nothing. I get reported while playing BB because I am kyting the enemies DDs and torp wall after torp wall...... (because on the map it may seem like I'm sniping and dodging enemy shells or something). But sometimes I see someone who is getting acused by someone else (who I both don't know) who is doing me?
  23. NothingButTheRain

    report reason

I got reported for killing a target by ramming (I was almost dead) right before our CV send his torp planes (CV accused me of having rammed him unnecessarily, but obviously he was mad because I took 'his' kill from him), I got reported by elitist 3-man purple division for being a noob no matter how poor or well I played, got reported by seemingly mad map pingers for being supposedly useless, I got reported for being the cause of their loss despite me ending in first place and the complainer in last place (it was a veeeery narrow loss and of course I was the root cause of it all), probably got reported for someones pizza getting cold, who knows! You name it and somebody probably reported me for it But usually it's arrogant people who end up reporting me and not necessarily players who play either fantastic or are extremely poor players. The way people rage does seem to be more annoying to me if someone is a purple unicorn though as they are significantly better represented in my blacklist and I typically only put people there if it's prolonged textual abuse....usually includes me getting reported as well

I hadn't noticed anything of this sort So does anyone have any actual data regarding this? I've seen worse rants but frankly I'm not seeing a substantial increase in the number of quick landslide victories (and I hope it stays the way it is now). And besides, making matches last longer just to get rid of extra stocks of signal flags is a bit weird as I'd find it more likely for WG to decrease the number of signals gotten by missions. And if I noticed any of this sort (and mind you, this is purely subjective and I might not be seeing things straight here) it is that the number of single-use camos gotten in missions was decreased (I still have tons of the french camos, it seems the amount of those USA camos gotten in missions is way less now? Same with the pi camos).

    Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)

Finally managed this mission getting second place in my Pepsi +win +survive, of all ships I hadn't noticed this marathon ran the full length of the World Cup, but it seems likely it wasn't a coincidence.
