Yup, I know. But why is OP asking about it now if draws are basically a non-issue these days? Of course he can do whatever suits him fine, but it kinda sounds like a waste of effort to me. And at any rate, I'd rather keep my precious draws stats and I doubt WG will actually change this. And a draw should also not be a win anyway because it isn't one
-
But both of you were beta testers and back in the old days, draws were a lot more common,. right?

Wouldn't it be nice to receive a veteran premium ship of some sort for being a veteran player or something? I do kinda like your suggestion though. The veteran flag is nice btw. -
Update 0.8.1: British Squadrons
NothingButTheRain replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
This update looks good to me, I approve! The new CV camo looks kickass! I'm not sure what to make of the Shards changes. Personally I liked the map the way it is because it was so different and played a lot more differently. We shall see how this one ends up. I'm looking forward to the portlag fixes. Imo this was long overdue. Yes my FXP is ready!!!!!! And Alaska has radar too!!!!! Yes!!!!! Time to take Akaska and my other radar ships out and do some more bughunting! -
The magical forest was pure bliss, despite its shortcomings... a true mememachine at heart and one of the most trollish parts of any map in WoT. I can see why it got .... "reworked" but I really liked the forested areas and the plentiful opportunities for ambushes. Draws in WoT were much more common though. Nowdays less so I believe, because it's become a goldspamming brawlingfest instead of a more diverse game in which multiple tactics were workable. It got destroyed by a very vocal minority that kept crying about how sniping and camping was bad for the game.

Equality of all servers: it was fun while it lasted (aka bonus codes in RU streams only for RU)
NothingButTheRain replied to Kassiba's topic in General Discussion
Wait what? You also got a code for 5 of each special dragon signals just like every rusky server pleb is able to claim from their wows stream like every single week? -
Would be nice if Alaska also came with the measure 22 camo? The one you could buy for Missouri for 1 credit as well iirc
-
I had a draw once. It even had a different post battle result screen and some unknown tune which nobody remembers I think
-
I never knew people with 24 draws existed, how exiting!

You will mind when you find out that with more karma you can hit that report button more times every day -

EU did host giveaways last year. I firmly remember having received one credit as a reward from that stream (yes I kid you not, ONE CREDIT). Kinda pale compared to the russian stream, and to make matters worse russians can join the NA prize giveaways as well and it's already virtually impossible to win in those giveaways. -

125 Kinda been like this for weeks now. Usually gain a bit after operations and drops when I play more random battles. -
Why do people dislike T10 and choose lower tiers?
NothingButTheRain replied to You_Overextended's topic in General Discussion
And this is what I do. I mostly pick other ships if I need them for missions. I do play some operations, just for the fun. But usually I'll be playing some grind line one way or another. -
Penalty for players rushing to their death
NothingButTheRain replied to _Ghostship_'s topic in General Discussion
This is true actually. But often it is actually another DD player on my team that does the pinging. I even posted some screenshots of this happening last week, when some Tashkent wanted me (in benson) to join him where he quickly died at A while I lived on to survive till the end of the match and at least was making a difference. Usually people don't threaten to report me. They simply start harrasing and doing the "UNINSTALL" and whatsnot. And then after the battle I get the reports. -

So wait, so this is not how to play bottom tier carrier? -
Whats the point of the long re-spawn timer of spotter plane consumable?
NothingButTheRain replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
24 minutes for the free consumable, but 5 consumables for 240 seconds and you will stay within 20 minutes and they recharge faster if your spotters are all shot down. -
Which skills did you pick? Anyway, this is what I'm using: But if I had a spare 19pt cap for Atlanta (my current Atlanta cap is basically my Wooster cap), I'd probably exchange SI for DE or perhaps BFT. But when picking hydro instead of DefAA, the extra consumable is quite useful. There will be a free skill reset in 8.2 or so. Perhaps you will change your mind .

You must also live close to the other 2. You happen to live near the south east portion of Europe as well?

That can only mean one thing

I totally agree with you on the marketing department. I kinda purposefully left it out, because I simply do not have enough data. But I am aware that this may play a significant role, especially since I remember s_o (iirc it waas s_o) mentioning them having thoughts about monetisation at the end of last year somewhere (and because of other obvious things). They seem to rely on gathered data a lot and (and this they do well) take their time before deciding something is too strong or too weak. But numbers alone can be deceiving. Suppose there's 2 tier 10 DDs and one os 10% stronger than the other one, but it may overperform by 20% because there's people who like to figure out stuff that gives them an advantage (including things like glitches and exploits, but others may stick to just using the strongest ships and tactics). Now suppose the stronger DD gets a nerf of 15%, chances are that performance may drop by 25% because the ones seeking the strongest ships will sooner or later recognise that now the other DD is the strongest and will stop playing the now nerfed DD (so its performance drops by a larger margin then the 15% nerf it got). Relying on numbers alone is a fallacy and can be worked around by being patient before making balance changes. But it gets hard to correctly interpret a needed buff (or nerf as is the case with the CV rework) when time is short. Then you need experience as there simply is not enough raw statistical data. Sure you could make rocket planes less effective by decreasing its damage or accuracy, but it seems more as if it's some kind of emergency repair as it creates new problems that may have been averted if better balance changes were implemented. And thehard part for someone with not enough experience is to correctly guess what is also needed from a psychological perspective, as these are much harder to fit into a matrix or otehr form of calculation. This is where experience becomes much more helpfull and desicively effective at making better guestimates at what kinds of changes are more wanted. My apologies, it's kinda hard to explain.

I understood that the man in charge of balancing in WoWS is quite young and I think he simply does not have the right amount of experience yet to balance such a complicated game as WoWS. I've been balancing computer games for about 20 years now (and before that board games and other games, but that's a little bit off topic here), balancing games with a lot of complex interactions is made even harder because you also need to take enjoyability into account. And frankly, incidents like how stalingrad was balanced are all signs that sometimes something balance-wise is done with a hammer instead of with tact.

For me personally what the most unfun nerfs are, are the nerfs to rocket and torp planes (and mostly how good/fast they arm and aim). Bombers were at first my basic throw-away planes and with the faster aiming that rocket and torp planes used to have, it was actually extremely fun to try to dodge that flak, round that island the enemy is trying to hide behind and still get some damage done with the slow torps or the usually quite apalling rocket damage. And yes, I played DD post-rework and found it even enjoyable before 0.8.0.1 hit. After 0.8.0.3 I don't even mind taking DDs that have barely any significant AA to speak of. I don't rate the extreme tier differences in AA power as a nerf to CVs specifically, but I also find it to be inherently unfun to play carriers at tiers 6 and 8 when bottom tiered partially because of this. I need to aim for a long time with my torp bombers for instance, but I can't evade flak and I'll often lose all my planes before I can even get a single attack in. And doing the spotting for sole single targets has also become less enjoyable since 0.8.0.3. CVs seem to work fine in operations, but of course I don't get those very high damage numbers anymore now.

KV-2 never has really good armor no matter what tier it ends up in. BBs are generally speaking different in this regard. The thing is that there is not really sucha thing as a derp in wows, except maybe for torps.
