Just got the Mino and working on the build. I assume that it should be more aa oriented with the current meta? But on the other hand the Mino has very good aa anyway from start... Suggestions for module and captain builds are happily accepted. I did ok with the Neptune and when I played Mino in PTS I did better in that! So I look forward to the experience with this ship!😊 Happy Huntings and be careful out there!

I agree about the Pyotr.. It’s really op! Bow in noone can hurt you and you burn everything in sight! I am not good with bbs, but even I get 2-3 kills and 60-70 k damage without even playing good. The armor on that thing is astounding!!

some short news CV vs DD (public test)
OldPappy replied to remenberMYname's topic in General Discussion
1 cv games are doable without much more problems than with the radar meta. But the constant 2 cv games are a pain in the [edited]! you can survive by smoking up when you get spotted by the rocket planes. (Torpedo planes and bombers are not that much of an issue. ) But you end up using your smoke before the second half of the match begins. My best 2 cv game in a dd is when I simply stayed next to one of our own cvs. 😊 best aa in the game!😀 I stayed with him to the end, survived and made a good profit. Maybe this is the way I will go every time I end up in a 2 cv game. 😀👍🏻. Needless to say my team was not very happy. But blame it on the cvs I say! -
Well thats it. I give up trying to play much else but cv from now on. Game after game trying to find a new spot in the meta an failing every time. I wasn’t good before and now I am just awful. But I can join the gang and just spam planes. 😊👍🏻

Is it only me? When I go to the claim rewards page and log in, I an redirected back to the web page. I am already logged in, but I an being asked to lig in again and thus....redirected to the wows web page. It used to be that you come to a page where your rewards are being checked and validated and you can claim them. Cannot see any rewards in my live account. Am I doing something wrong or does anyone else have this problem? I mean...it is always nice with extra flags, camos and such. Cheerio, ms Sophie!

Your favorite cruiser: Tier for tier
OldPappy replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
1: Black Swan. Pre-nerf. Otherwise the Orlan 2: chester? 3: St.Louis. Brutish!! 4: Kuma. Dead fun to play! 5: omaha. Once you get a hang of it. But also furutaka and kirov. 6: Nurnberg, Dallas and Leander 7: Yorck very nice ship!! Fiji. 8: Edingburogh 9: Neptune (so far...) -
I have this exact problem as well. All of this morning. Bloody annoying. Only with WG not with anything else
-
Always assume you get no support from your team. When you do, it’s a pleasant surprise!! Never let anyone bully you into doing what they want. Every now and then I get shot at from my team when I don’t do as ”I am told”.

The grind at t6 to t8 is far too frustrating and simply not enough fun. It’s a pain to play when your best attacks yield maybe 5k damage at the cost of all squadron planes. You stumble upon the wrong ship and you loose all planes before you can escape. I have played a few times but give up as it is simply not fun anymore. No enjoyment whatsoever. And if you check my stats - someone always does - I did ok with cv’s of old in the few games I played. And I do mostly rubbish in other classes, but I am having FUN, so I keep playing even though I suck. 😊 But the new cv style is too frustrating and unrewarding to keep playing and grinding....

Question: Do we as a player community have a greater responsibility to play on the testserver? The new cv line has been on the public testserver for 3 rounds before going live. I usually play on the PTS when it’s up at all sorts of hours. At the most, I have seen maybe 2000 players in there at any given time. This makes it hard to test in random battles on the PTS. There is simply a lack of players for full testing. Am I wrong in this? Have I missed the times when PTS is filled with players? Most of the time there are less than 1000 players online. So the question is if we have a bigger responsibility to make use of this opportunity to test the updates? If 30000 players are online on the PTS and they would have kicked up the debate about the new cv change BEFORE it went live, perhaps it would still be tested and not live? I have roughly 4000 battles under my belt and for all the stats checkers I can disclose that I generally suck in this game. But I enjoy it very much usually. But being a mainly dd player I have a hard time adopting to the new change. Then again I had that when radars came as well. 😊 Perhaps WG should make the rewards for PTS play more interesting? But I think everyone who played/plays on the PTS can agree that for real testing of this cv change it was an insufficient player base on the PTS.
-
Aha. Well then this pretty much answers my question. Didn’t know WOT pts had that many players. Well, thank you for your answers and feedback! Happy hunting, friend!
-
If the game had not been free as a base game I would agree. But for a free game where you actually invest your time maybe you should take an interest in affecting the future of the game? I am just saying if there would be more PTS players it would help feedback and development.
-
My thoughts exactly. The free xp is a very good idea! Perhaps a long term reward as well? If you have participated in all PTS round over a longer period you get a more substantial reward. A ship? Special PTS reward ship only available if you play the required rounds?
-
No we dont really owe WG anything. True. But how many players tested in WOT? If there was as few as in WOWs then I understand why WG didn’t listen. The feeback base is simply too small to use as a guideline. But if 30000 players would test on regular basis wouldn’t it be different? You have a right to complain, my friend, as you have spent time testing. But if a player cannot be bothered to play PTS and leave a comment there but instead rage when the upgrade is live, haven’t they missed their chance to be very upset? (A bit like you have no real right to complain about politics if you haven’t bothered to vote. 😊) This is my question...
-
😀👍🏻 yes thank the gods there is no tax on complaining!!
-
Yes that is my experience too. Unable to test full out due to a lack of players.

This whole new concept of "CV" is a disaster.
OldPappy replied to mantiscore's topic in General Discussion
Adopt, adapt and overcome, my friend. The game is what it is. DD’s have to change tactics yet again yes. As when every ship and their grandmothers had radar. If you try to cap like before you get killed yes. And yes the spotting role of dds is gone, I agree. If you want to survive you have to hang back. And I have had cvs targeting me and avoided almost all the rocket salvoes. The bigger threat is everyone else shooting at you. But yes, the current game is frustrating for dds going off alone like they used to. What I am trying to say is that this new style is here to stay and we either adapt to it or we look for another game. So far this is still too much fun for me to quit. I understand your frustration and I feel it too. I just search for a new way of play style. -

Did’nt play a lot of cv from the old version, as I found it a bit boring. But I did well as you can probably see in the few games I did. It was easy to dominate and I am not the best player overall. In the new version I have to work very hard to score hits at all. But I suspect it will get easier. But you do far less damage now overall than before and unless you are a cv in a division you have no incentment to spot for your team. Before you could do damage and spot at the same time. I think WG actually achieved their goal in making cv game more enjoyable for more players and at the same time less dominating. Being a manly DD player I have done some great matches after the change. The recipie is actually quite simple. Dont rush the caps! It is actually not easy to spot the dd from the air. I played some games in Ranger so I know it is harder than you think when actually trying it. You have to change playstyle even more than with radars as a DD. Be even more careful. And if you are spotted and cannot smoke up, its not really hard to avoid the rockets. Go towards the planes. Hit the brakes and turn and speed up again when they look ready to attack. And if there is one advantage a DD player has over the other classes it’s being used to aleways keep an eye out for the planes. I think this new style is a change for the better after all, even though I too thought about wiping the game off my pc. 😊 -
Unable to switch captains between ships - what happens next?

Excellent. 😊👍🏻 Sail fast and aim well, friend! ( Although not at me, of course!😬) -

When I get this message and error - which I have had a few times - it has always worked to restart the client program. Then it dissappears. -
The Musashi I find should be played like the Nelson for instance. They both have very accurate guns as opposed to most other BBs. So staying at a distance favours them both. They have squishy armour and big citadels. They get punished when brawling och crossfired. When I play them right and with patience I get well rewarded. Unfortunately I seldom do. 😬 Bismarck and Gneisenau suits me better as I always get impatient and too aggressive!

I have played the current rts style cv and it’s ok. Sometimes a relaxing change to normal play. Only played up to t6 though. I also tried the new cv’s in PTS. It’s arcade fun.. But in order to do serious damage and sink sink enough ships to have a real impact on the game you have to be good in this new style. I think we will see a lot of new cv players doing very widespread but minimal (per ship) damage. The AA is more realistic this way as it won’t be a ”no go zone” as it is now around a Mino or a Worchester etc. DD s will be spotted more frequently, yes. But it’s hard to hit them with torps, rockets or bombs. A US squadron used to have 6 torpedoes that might be hard to dodge, but the new dquadron have only 3? An old style cv had several squadrons to disperse around the map but now it will be 1 per cv. And no cv player will hang around a dd spotting it for the team when they can farm damage instead. They cannot do both anymore. I think a 2 cv game right now is harder for any type of ship. I havent played higher tier than 6 though and they might be different. So I say, wait and see. This might be more rejuvenating for the game than you think.

No CE on the captain. 😊 So I think there are other dds with better concealment then. -
Ship you love. That everyone else hates
OldPappy replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
For some odd reason I do well in Hatsuharu. There is no reason why I should. I only have a 7 point captain in it. So bad concealment and only those measly guns and the slow torps. But, appearantly we like each other. I also like that floating, giant citadel: Omaha. AND I actually find the guns on Gneisenau to my liking. -

Reached rank 1 this morning. 21 battles. 2 in cruisers, 1 with QE (loss) and the rest in various DDs. Did my best games in the Hatsuharu, believe it or not!
