Where do you find these stats? This is not a topic related question, but an honest one. 😊

You will get as many diffrent answers ss there will be people answering them. I am by no means a great dd player but a fair one. Rule nr 1: ( and I constantly break this one myself!!😕) don’t cap right away unless you KNOW it is safe to do so!! Almost always a surviving dd can cap in the second half of the game uncontested. Rule nr 2: spot and help your team. If they do damage you win. Rule nr 3: if you are not backed up, leave and go dark!!! Go to another flank. Do not get killed for teammates who think you are a sacrificial goat for their benefit! Mainly stay alive during the first half of the game. The longer you live the more opportunities will present themselves for you to sieze! These are main rules but the style changes depending on what dd you play. For kitakaze the above is very true!!! Wait for an opportunity and pounce on it!

I have like 6000 odd battles now. And a WR of slightly under 49%. Mostly it’s my first 1500 battles without even the simplest clue to what I was doing!! I still suffer from lack of situational awereness and tunnelvision. Sometimes I pull off great battles with 3000+ base Exp. And sometimes I forget myself and get torped in my smoke. I am improving but slowly. As usual I play my best when I dont try just to win or go for max damage. I have played too many games in frustration and that is never good. Sometimes I feel I have to stare the bitter truth in the eye and accept that I will not get better! With enough experience I might reach 52% but that might very well be my max.... So I try to just have fun and enjoy the game. Damn that is hard!!!!😬

Could we have a "I got a chatban!"-button?
OldPappy replied to General_Kunde's topic in General Discussion
Strange isn’t it that you never felt the need or the importance of communication as much as when you are chat banned!!😀 I suddenly had tons of situations where I really needed to tell my teammates stuff while I was banned recently. And it was actually important things like pointing out a target or giving a heads up about something. And I also felt that suddenly people talked to me in a way that would have deserved a response. 1 guy evenwrote something nice and there I was being silent like an ungrateful clod😂. So the button idea has merits to it! oh and I dont really feel that need anymore!!!- 69 replies

Discounts on defeats this month ???
OldPappy replied to Herbstnebel1975's topic in General Discussion
On my end it’s all FUBAR for the last 20 odd games. 😊 And it’s not my teams. I cannot seem to play right at all no matter what. But I know that suddenly I turn it around and pull off a 3000+ exp game in the Neptune and cannot seem to loose no matter what I do. Go figure.... -
Tier IX DD Friesland = 1,000,000 FreeXP
OldPappy replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes! Will go for it. Got the Alaska recently and have about 300k fxp in the ”bank”.😬😀 This seems a fun little boat!! -
What ship did you instantly fell in love with and why? (Include your build)
OldPappy replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Yorck. I just love her but it was not on first sight. But post buff. Excellent, accurate guns with german he with good fire chance. Great AP that comes as a nasty surprise for broadside cruisers. It seems many foes underestimates her and quite often allows me to cruise at good distance and cut them down. Wrong captain build right now though. Pt, EM, SI ( this should be DE!) and CE. CE is questionable. But only 4 point skill she needs. She does not need premium consumables more than DCP. Second love would be T61. -
Apart from the above stated fact that high tier events attracts buyers for more money and make money for WG, which after all is the name of the game! But also high tier also ensures a bit the player quality. The higher the tier the more games you have played even if you are a fxp or a wallet player. A t5 event will mean a large portion of high skilled players having fun with inexperienced players. But apart from this, yes I agree that a low tier event would be fun. I had loads of fun in my Nicholas in the t5 sprint.
-
Sometimes I forget the camo. As simple as that. But usually I run at least a basic camo on my dds. I figure why not take each little advantage I can? Higher tiers I always ty to have camo for the above reasons plus better xp and money.

With regards to your team yelling at you to cap the only advise is to ignore them. Initially - and especially if there are 3 or 4 dds - your team does not care if you die in return for a cap. They think they dont loose anything by that trade. But for their sake as well - even though they dont think so at first and probably will never admit to it either - your team is much better off with living dds in the later half of the game instead of owning a cap for a minute or two in the start. And as most previous speakers have said, IJN dds are not cappers until t9 if the cap might be contested.

Ships that work for you in ranked...
OldPappy replied to Hopeless_Guppy's topic in General Discussion
Musashi Fletcher Alaska and finally Neptune. Neptune with radar can get the jump on their dd and take it out quickly. But of course you sacrifice yourself most likely. 1match I took out their dd, then their only radar cruiser and 50% of Iowa health before I died. My teammates with hard work and inspired play managed to loose from 6 v4 with dd and radar advantage!😕 -
In which I would no doubt premiumly suck in!!😌 What is the difference between them?
-
I used to truly suck with the Cleveland. I ended up hating the damn thing and very nearly sold it. Could not for the life of me get it to work. So I took my almost 14 p captain from it. And then recently I played it just to get the first win 10 tokens and with a 5 pt captain at that. And I found out what everyone has been telling everyone all the time. It is all about the positioning!! I found the right spot in battle after battle and contributet to the team by area/cap radar controll. Grinding damage work on bbs an other cls by firing over islands without hardly beeing spotted and giving dds and tanking bbs an aa umbrella. Cleveland still is tough even for t10 cvs but it melts t8 planes! But it has maybe 2-3 spots on each map where it excells. If you are caught EVERYONE will shoot the Cleveland!!! And to make it easier to reach that spot I think CE is important and to increase dsmage ifhe is important. But as I said only the last matches has been good and I finally found out why people like it so much!

Yeah I saw this too now. Still the Fiji feels more fragile. It looks actually a bit bigger and higher in the water. But all the stats are near identical I agree. Funny thing is that I feel safer in the Eding than the Fiji. This might explain why I do much better in the Fiji apart from the mm factor.
-
Well I havent done an exact comparison in-game, but according to wiki the Edins armor has an upgrade over Fiji. It feels tougher to me as well even with the mm, but no of course it sucks against Henri IV and alike! And yes, radar is extremely situational and can only be used on rare occations as you will be - like you point out - obliterated when detected.
-
The Edin has better armor as well. It can take a surprising amount of punishment when angled against other cruisers. But yes, overall, it’s a harder ship to play due to the matchmaking at t8. It can also equip radar with the upgraded hull. A nasty surprise for dds who assume you have smoke!😀 Smoke IS the better choice imho but sometimes its just fun to surprise!!

What is your fav class to play and why?
OldPappy replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
I prefer dd in general. I like the speed and the independant playstyle. I like the stealth and the potential punch you have with the torps. Second choice is cruisers for the versatilty of them. The focus you need in order to survive. -
I have 3k + in Benson, Lightning and Fletcher and I am not that good in Benson or Lightning. About 120-130 k damage in most cases. Mind you, these are not average xp but the record notations for these ships.
-
200k damage. 850k credits and 3 t10 bb... Your reality is my imaginary dreamworld! 😀 Hat off to you, sir!
-
Yes and thank god for that. Sometimes you send your torps and then watch in disbelief as your target just keeps sailing in a straight line, eating every single one of them.
-
Yes. But luckily for dd players good bb drivers are few and far between. 😀 I know the feeling myself of sailing along, having your aim at a juicy cruiser going in a straight line 18 km away and then getting the torpedo warning and just have enough time to zoom out of sniper mode to see those Asashio torps slam you to the port. Keeps you sharp for at least 4 games afterwards!
-
True. But you might as well just suicide without the torpedoing if the bb driver is half competent. It is a wonderful tactic in the russian dds, to blitz around a corner, watching the brown moment on the bb with the guns in another direction and then send your 66 knots torps into his side. But that is very rare. Good bb drivers are very hard to kill in a dd.
