Some STs Ruining the Games for Others
TeaAndTorps replied to _HomTanks_'s topic in General Discussion
Based on this I'd have thought the replay in question should go to whoever is the appropriate person at WG so that they can investigate and if necessary take action against this ST. Sounds like at best like not taking their responsibility as a tester seriously, at worst a deliberate attempt to mess with pre-release balancing data. It's not a reason to bear a grudge against *all* STs though.- 77 replies

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
TeaAndTorps replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
I normally do and yet today... Sigh. Oh well. I just got so used to it being F11 in Subnautica! -

148k battle (new personal record) in Dunkerque with 2 kills, 6 citadels, High Calibre, Confederate... ... And pressed the wrong key for the screenshots -
I mean, that is only for USN DDs. Farragut, Mahan and Benson have to give up a main battery gun to get access to DefAA so probably very few people run it... Idk enough about Gearing and Fletcher to opine about their AA though, tbf.

How is this matchmaking even allowed???
TeaAndTorps replied to mantiscore's topic in General Discussion
It is a mystery to me why they still allow different tiers in divs. Except maybe at T9 and 10, as @Johnny_Moneto says. Until then, I've been on teams that have benefitted from this and teams that have been disadvantaged. It evens out in the end. -
What is your biggest purchase regret! (edited)
TeaAndTorps replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Useful to know, thanks I think to some extent it's an issue of needing to work out a new playstyle – when I bought it I thought I would make time for that, but in reality it's never ended up being enough of a priority to actually do so, so that's kinda my bad! -
If I could complete missions in Shenyang, there would be a danger I would never play anything else. I cannot overstate how much I enjoy that ship; it's comfortable enough even without CE, and with a 10-point commander it becomes a monster. Clemson obviously, and Phoenix is also a blast. When I move commanders between US cruisers, I enjoy playing Charleston for the retraining. At some point I'm going to have to make a new 10-pointer for my Dallas, and am in two minds about whether to do that in Charleston or Phoenix.

Meanwhile Krasny Krym is definitely the kind of spammy, semi-obsolete cruiser the Imperial Guard would operate, complete with the massive hats and the purges.
-
Maybe to do with a couple of the more straightforward dockyard missions having the option to complete them in US cruisers?

Disappear enemy ships when you set smoke screen.
TeaAndTorps replied to qdfl's topic in General Discussion
To add to @Verblonde's point: if the battle ends with only one DD on one team and one BB on the other, there's a good possibility that the DD can win with caps. Edit: oops, didn't see @Egoleter had mentioned this already- 43 replies

Not necessarily a fan myself but I think it's largely a 'git gud' issue on my part. It adds variety and in general I think having an opt- out fractures the playerbase in ways that might not be helpful for the MM. I do think epicentre is at least as *interesting* as standard battles, even if I feel more *comfortable* in the latter.

Disappear enemy ships when you set smoke screen.
TeaAndTorps replied to qdfl's topic in General Discussion
You can shoot; you just need to have someone else spotting them for you. If you're the only one spotting something and you don't need to disengage to save yourself, you shouldn't smoke up – keep spotting them so the rest of your team can shoot them. It might not be glamorous but it wins battles. To quote that well known group of sages, Sabaton: Primo Victoria. Smoke will absolutely still help with running away, even if you lose spots on the ship in question while doing so.- 43 replies

Upgrade slot 3 on CAs – Aiming Systems or Main Battery?
TeaAndTorps posted a topic in General Discussion
Apologies if I've missed discussions of this elsewhere, search function is... I've been away from the game for a while and had missed the removal of the reload penalty in Main Battery Mod II (slot 3; +15% to turret traverse speed). I'm wondering about fitting it on some of my CAs with slow-turning turrets, Especially the IJN line, but also e.g. Pensacola and Algérie. But I'm trying to weigh that against the loss of accuracy from Aiming Systems Mod I. My gut feeling is that on CAs the loss of accuracy is unlikely to be horribly noticeable and the (greater) ability to keep your guns on target while manoeuvring probably outweighs it. I wondered if anyone else has experimented with that and what their experience was? Cheers, and hope the weekend is being kind to you all -
Upgrade slot 3 on CAs – Aiming Systems or Main Battery?
TeaAndTorps replied to TeaAndTorps's topic in General Discussion
Good to know it wasn't a completely silly idea. Thanks, everyone! This is particularly what was making me wonder about the IJN CAs. I reckon I'll experiment with it on them too, and keep an eye on whether I think it'd help with the French. -
Upgrade slot 3 on CAs – Aiming Systems or Main Battery?

Thanks both! Have put it on the Pepsi but no others. I might experiment on Aoba or Myoko or Furry Taco, but maybe I'll just leave it. -
What purchases have you enjoyed the most?
TeaAndTorps replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
– Haida. I absolutely must play that ship more; I often leave it in port because I'm grinding other lines, but now I think about it I might put my mind to getting a 19-point commander for it as another long-term project. – T-61 – Giulio Cesare (even if I know I don't really play it to its full potential) – Dunkerque. Is so fun it's rather holding up progress down the French BB line. – Sims and Kidd are both hilarious fun in co-op. I've still not played Kidd in random, but am looking forward to it... For coal: Charleston But above all, my best purchase has been premium time (when discounted) -
Not necessarily the best event ever, but pretty good. The one thing I would comment on is that it's very grindy, especially when you have to do two of the class-and-nation-restricted missions for each directive. That's not a problem in itself, but I would say that 10k credits for finishing those missions is extremely stingey. If those rewards were maybe 100-150k credits, 5-7 regular economic signals, or 3-5 expendable camos (e.g. Hunter), it would feel a bit... better.

TeaAndTorps replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Probably Blyska as well tbh. That said, I bought both Blys and Sims at a time when I was (for various reasons) mostly playing co-op, and they're both still hilarious fun to run and gun with there. Just not as much fun to try and make them work in randoms... -
No cursed ship as such, but I have been reminded today that I can make any ship cursed by putting the Back to School camo on it

I would guess ticket but probably worth tagging @Tanatoy to be sure. Am pretty sure 'political' clan names are banned anyway; one would hope this is even more the case when they are quoting Nazis.

omg i also have this problem with my Dunkerque!! good to see someone taking this seriously!! /s -
Not at all interested in Odin but I'll definitely grind the first 10 stages. Not that interested in GS tbf but a free premium is free and the 10-point captain can go on my Gaede once I decide to progress to Maass. Crucially I can do every stage while playing lines I would be grinding anyway, or I wouldn't bother. I might end up playing fewer battles in US DDs (and Haida) than I might otherwise, but it's nice to have a good reason to play other lines too.
-
The US CL captain I'm working towards (currently 15 points on Cleveland) goes PT, EM, SI, IFHE, CE, DE, AR. (I think it's EM i have atm, but might be AR). Mainly posting to join in the conversation and hear what others think though; obviously I'm not much of an authority and am not at Worcester yet. I sometimes wonder whether AR would've been better than EM for the first 2-pt skill, and idk how fast Worcester's turrets turn stock, so maybe I'll swap it out for JOAT when I get there.

The Flood of German Premium Ships Worries me.
TeaAndTorps replied to Sunleader's topic in General Discussion
We ships if the same class with different in-game characteristics – Bismarck and Tirpitz; NC, Alabama and Massachusetts; Fletcher, Black and Kidd; Belfast and Edinburgh – so I don't see why WG couldn't do a similar thing for some of the paper designs and use them for the line splits OP hopes for.
