  1. My reaction to the revised MM is it seems OK, I've seen only 1 game with uneven DD's or other types and that was at silly times.

    Cost of Tier 9 BB's

I rarely lose credits at T9/10 these days, but my play has improved a fair bit so I score better than I did, unless I derp of course.

    best ranked game so far

If you have a replay you can submit a ticket about the players behaviour and attach the replay, refusing to take part is against the game rules and @MrConway posted that sending a ticket was the right thing to do about players who do this sort of unsporting nonsense.

    Jean-Jaques Honore advice

I've seen quite a few secondary built Alsace and Republiques, they seem to do well, BFT and AFT also help with the already decent AA so it's not a terrible idea. Just depends how you feel about the tankiness. Fire Prevention and Basics of Survivability are very effective for boosting the tankish aspects. I'm of the opinion either works fine. Manual secondaries means giving up Concealment Expert and the Frenchies aren't that heavily armoured, fun but it's a risk if you want/need to disengage.
  5. @GarrusBrutus in his Zao with his 2 Clanmates, unfortunately even though between us we killed 6 of them, the rest of the team didn't pull their weight and a clear early lead was thrown away. That scorecard with a loss somewhat sucks, I couldn't take out the last 4 alone.

    Who stole my Dreadnought? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I've had a few like that, it's a bit annoying when you realise it's only 3 ships that damaged you and if a fourth had done even 1 point of damage it would be granted. Very frustrating in a Ranked for obvious reasons, tanking like that for the team effectively taking 3/7ths of the opposition out of the game for a while is a pretty big contribution.

    Cleveland - Tier 8

So does that mean I will get the replacement CL for T6, 7, 8, 9 and 10? Sorry it's stupid early and my brain isn't in high gear. They did say in some video that it would be the same as the previous splits.

    Cleveland - Tier 8

I've heard different tales of what you get, if I have every one of the current T6, 7, 8, 9, 10 USA cruisers in port at the line split which ships will I get (not that bothered about camos and Captains)?

Is doubloon more expensive than bitcoin?

If you play that particular part of the game basically for the rewards and you feel the rewards aren't sufficient, you have no obligation to play. If you feel that you want (and are capable of playing well enough) to earn more then you can always stream yourself and hope that people are attracted to your content or you can switch to playing a game that has an actual eSports (oh how I hate that term) following with mass appeal, that being said in those games the game makers make vastly more money than the players do so it scales, it's unlikely that you will feel any other eSport would feel more equitable.

    some thought on the game

There's plenty of scope to tweak it so invisi firing doesn't return, but the smaller gun ships having the same duration bloom as Yamato with its monstrous artillery is rather daft and it currently greatly favours BB's over everything else.

which DD line to choose? DD questions

I agree, it's one of those compromise ships, but it plays really well if you use its 5.4km detection range to the full and know how to use the torpedoes effectively. I play it with smoke or booster depending on mood, both are very effective and it presents 2 interestingly different styles. As to doing stuff with an IJN DD while the torpedoes are reloading there's spotting, capping and just presenting a sneaky threat to a flank all of which are useful to a team win, even if they don't score much other than capping.

A potential solution to camping Battleships

Indeed, DD play is hardly forgiving, it's quite the highest risk for frequently poor reward if you play for objectives and to reveal enemy DD's.

    some thought on the game

@Flavio1997 Very sensible on all counts, epicentre being a special mode with existing special mechanics could have a customised approach to the contesting scoring. Personally I'd make the gun blooms in your point 1 achieve the stated aim of WG that they don't want ships blinking in and out with gunblooms so the blooms should be equal to the reload timer (before modifications) for consistency and ease of understanding. Point 2, I disagree a bit as BB's have too much survivability as it is, but cutting the bloom a bit would be OK. On the same subject the detection from smoke firing in the Neptune is pretty silly it needs to be cut by at least 1.5km. It's tricky in Kutuzov, but that ship has longer range so it's less of an issue. Point 6, this is a wider issue with cruiser design and BB's survival tools being buffed while cruisers haven't been. The simplest blanket fix would be to reduce citadel damage on cruisers across the board by a fixed percentage, the most thorough would need a lot of work and that would be to redesign the citadel sizes and heights of every cruiser in the game. I'd add a point 7, the sheer number of BB's in every game throttle gameplay and discourage cruiser dynamic play which means DD's aren't opposed, I'd like to see a hard cap of 3, max 4 BB per side. I agree with the broad thrust of every point, well thought out post as a good starting point for improving the game, a few tweaks here and there, but that's how all good ideas work.
  14. Hardly, there were limited places you could be and you got exploded by a Mogami which is quite a fast ship firing HE from 15 guns, once spotted it was a case of who blew you up, I just got lucky.

which DD line to choose? DD questions

I'm very glad you wrote that, it couldn't be more accurate. To the OP you seem to think that having long range torpedoes is the key, it isn't, LANDING torpedoes from a torp boat is the tricky bit and doing it from range is a matter of luck or really, really oblivious targets. The torpedoes spread as they swim, on narrow spread at max range Gearing and Shima torpedoes are a long way apart. Wide spread is useless in almost all circumstances. Shima 20km torps are easily spotted and dodged, even with Torpedo Acceleration they're spotted so far away most people will evade most if not all of them. Gearing has 16km torps and every now and then you might land a few at 10km +, but it's pure luck or someone running away from a BB's guns and running into the damn things. As @T0byJug said the most effective torpedo launches are fired at pretty close to your detection range, much past that and the travel time they take to target means the odds are the target will be somewhere else either from WASD hax or dodging someone else's incoming fire. @Rokko1v if your motivation for trying DD's is to land long range torpedo volleys you may want to seriously reconsider it as you will be very disappointed, DD play is high risk for sometimes little reward, your primary roles as a DD are spotting, capping and area scouting/domination by threat of torpedoes. Running up big damage numbers is a bonus, not the core of how a DD helps to win a game.

    ideas to change bb playstyle

One thing that might (but probably won't) actively reduce the BB camping is a hard cap on BB numbers, the most deadly ship to a BB that has the vaguest idea how to WASD hax is another BB shooting high calibre holes in it. At 3 a side the risk to BB's of being nailed by crossfire from multiple BB's drops dramatically so pushing becomes more viable. Cruiser numbers would go up with BBabies screaming loudly for more HE nerfs and DD numbers down (as a lot of former CA/CL drivers got sick of being instablapped by 5 BB's a side and swapped to DD play) and the game would be a lot more dynamic. After 2 seasons of Clan Battles it's a good deal less static (there are exceptions of course) with breakthroughs and effective counterplays, mostly because BB's are hard capped at 1. It is also true that a major revision of the scoring system would be a great help, but I don't think it's a silver bullet cure, it wouldn't work in isolation.

    ideas to change bb playstyle

I'm a dedicated DD and Cruiser player, but I do have 2 BB lines at 10, 1 at 9 and a few premiums. I think it's fair to say most of the posters play BB sometimes.

    Question about cruisers

The USA ships have fairly loopy firing arcs, can be tough if you know how to use their armour. The Russians have flatter firing arcs, but iffy armour until the Moskva and that's still a citadel magnet unless angled right. RN Cruisers have floaty arcs at range and it takes some skill to give up smoke in very lightly armoured ships to use radar. The only relatively tough cruiser line is the Germans (French are kiters and pretty lousy close in) and they don't have radar so in truth I don't think there's one that fits your requirements.

No, by broadside hits I mean that they take multiple torpedoes spread down the length of the ship, Kamikaze has 3x2 launchers and on narrow they spread a bit. A broadside hit will take hits in multiple locations so less saturation. Plus the T4-6 BB's that one typically faces in a Kamikaze don't have all that much in the way of manoeuvrability. If you read what I said if they have to eat one (or more) torpedoes in a BB then a good BB driver will do their best to take it midships to use the belt to best effect, depending on what damage they've already taken and if they know their bow or stern is saturated.

Since I play Kamikaze a fair bit (unashamed seal clubbing, I freely admit) I can attest to this. 5-6 torp hits will dev strike a relatively undamaged BB, but they need to be of the oblivious type of BB driver that eats the lot pretty much broadside, it frequently takes 1 salvo to damage and one to sink depending on aim and WASD hax. Cruisers and DD's on the other hand in any of my DD's it's rare to take more than 2-3 torpedoes to get a dev strike and then it's usually a saturation issue. Most DD's it's 1-2.

I think if you look at the armour models that you will find most BB's have torpedo bulges a tad bigger than 30% of their side, I'm not convinced that the mitigation is purely on the bulges as I've had loads of mitigated torp hits on target BB's that didn't hit centrally, probably saturation playing a part there. The experts in ship armour can also explain better than I do on that @wilkatis_LV maybe? I tinker quite often with torpedoes in the Training room, 3 hits will do a lot to a T8/9 BB, but not one shot them from full apart from the freakish detonations, they will of course flood out rapidly, but that's down to DCP management not the torpedo kills. Easiest way to test is with an RN cruiser on single fire and only launching a few at once.
  22. Judging by the in team chat you had 2 Bismarcks and a Queen Elizabeth on full brown alert with added sirens and air fresheners on full blast. One of the Bismarcks spent so long sat behind one rock with no intention of coming out to fight for so long I asked if he was AFK.

24k, BEFORE torpedo damage mitigation of 30% Conqueror, 56% Yamato, 37% Monatana, 25% GK, 37% Republique the T9's aren't all that much less. In fact most BB's at most tiers have a fair bit of mitigation and a good BB driver will do their best to take an unavoidable torpedo in the belt. Z52, 6.1 - It's not a gunboat, in fact it's a better torpedo boat. Grozovoi 6.0, most definitely a hybrid as well, gunboating it is a terminal experience if a few ships have a shot. As a DD driver I can tell you that full pens from BB AP are far from rare, in fact the guns I worry about most are BB AP, it typically takes multiple salvo's from a cruiser to kill me as they simply don't have the alpha, but BB shells most definitely do, it's been discussed plenty of times on the forum. Pointless post shifted it to previous one.

    ideas to change bb playstyle

This is entirely accurate and frankly it's backwards, BB's should not get proportionately better concealment from the same skills and modules than smaller ships, nor should the gun blooms from their gigantic (relatively) guns be the same duration as the pea shooters on DD's. Indeed and it's largely down to the effect of CE and module being exaggerated for BB's compared to lighter ships, I can sortof see the argument for CV's, but it's debatable as they're not usually in gun range unless they position unusually or their team collapses. True I took a full HE salvo from Conq in my Fletcher, I was fine.. Well if you define fine as having 0 AA left (CV game) both torpedo tubes knocked out, one destroyed, 3 turrets knocked out, one destroyed, engine and rudder gone (last stand of course) and 1,500 HP left from full as fine. I have been one shotted a few times in DD's by BB AP of course, every DD driver at the upper tier has it happen while dodging incoming from multiple sources, all it takes is a couple of AP's to hit partially down the length of the ship and splat.
  25. @Verblonde who was driving his Asashio on the opposite team, I admit I did get his scalp in my Mogami, he was last one standing and had harassed a whole flank alone quite effectively. His team on the other hand didn't play well.
