Graf's armour is nothing special, it can be citadelled very easily. It has pretty poor gun arcs so you need to show a lot of side to fire 50% of its guns, nice torpedoes, so so AA and the dispersion on its slow reloading guns is bad. Compared to the Guilio it's really weak, in fact it's easy food for a Guilio captain that can aim. If you struggle against the Graf in a Guilio then I'm afraid you need to improve your play considerably.

Why would anyone NOT take the torpedo upgrade on the RN CL's? If you have the vaguest idea how to use them, they're very potent weapons fast, long ranged and as hard hitting more or less. The single fire can be very effective and I've killed quite a few with those alone. -

That had occurred to me too and it's a valid point, but it''s clear what the OP actually wants is to knobble DD's as he dislikes them torpedoing him from stealth. It's a learn to play issue as we all know. Edit: Oh and DD's had smaller fuel tanks yes, but they also had narrow hulls, very low loaded weight and used vastly less fuel than BB's so their endurance was longer than many BB's of a comparable era so the OP's basic premise is completely off too.- 41 replies

The number of times as a DD driver I've had support just to see them turn tail and run as soon as I spot the enemy DD's and a few other ships are beyond number. It's damn annoying as a DD to easily have the firepower to wipe the enemy DD's from the map just to find it's either buggered off or it's farming BB damage and ignoring the actual threat. With the enemy DD's dead I can operate freely, spot, cap and torpedo, but that's something many players can't grasp, sure I can often win a DD fight, but it invariably costs a lot of HP gunfighting and a DD has a low health pool to start. When I do get support then we can gain map control and push effectively with the DD's providing the spotting for the big guns, ideally focus firing targets down quickly. It's the difference between teamplay and derp teams, sadly derps are far more frequent. -

No, stupid idea. It would add no intensity or tactical value. If you think BB's don't already have massive advantages then you really should take those blinkers off. Who do you think spots the targets for you to farm with your guns? Here's a counter proposal applied only to BB's (well a few) 1. BB guns could be historically accurate i.e. sub 10% of your shells fired will hit. 2. Fires take at least the full game duration to extinguish, while on fire you flood your magazines or you explode, can't fire and the smoke reduces your accuracy to nil. 3. Floods take 20 mins to plug and if you're at any real speed the damage to the ship causes incurable listing, inability to steer and drops speed to nil. I doubt you will like the ideas, but they're as sensible as yours.- 41 replies

Supporting the DD's and BB's not camping to preserve their HP uselessly. I have seen a few lemming trains work, but it needs a couple of selfless people to prevent the other side just getting crushed and the lemming has to push aggressively and effectively or it's a pathetic loss. -
Super Containers Premium ships distribution

Much the same here. had a nice variety from the last Christmas boxes and I've never had one from a Supercontainer, not that I've had many Supercontainers even though most days I open 3 containers. -
I save my free XP for crucial upgrades on ships that are hamstrung at stock, this is very true for some of the ships at T8 and 9, or for a ship I really hate and want to bypass. @Estaca_de_Bares knows CV's and his advice is very valid. More very sound advice.

I've not played my Groz in Ranked, it's a good generalist with decent guns, OK torps and nice speed, but as pointed out it's a bit clumsy in the turns so knife fighting can be a lottery.

Yup, good to see you as always and glad on our team not the enemy one , it was a strong win. My score wasn't so great as few torp opportunities, but I did my spotting and capping task so I was content. That B cap on Trap can be a pain as a DD, but 2 strong cruisers in support made it easy. -
I've pinked more times than I should, but I've learned to be more careful. It's trickier in T10 due to the longer range torps on 3 DD's. I've lost count of the number of times I had a great torpedo shot, but not taken it because of the risk of hitting friendlies, just don't do it.

But does have secondaries that do fire HE. The astonishing bit is it's a one time achievement and at T8 silver ship he hadn't already got it long before. I think I got it in my first week or so of playing, probably in St Louis.

Just helped a friend to complete the missions to end of stage 3, all done in COOP apart from the 1m credits, there is definitely no restriction on using German ships to damage the US, RU ships, get the fires, citadels and credits. He did the damage in October, fires in Schors and citadels in Fiji, didn't take long with 2 of us to force the ship nations and light cruisers in COOP.

I do that too I'm paranoid plus the buggers really are out to get me! Ranked is bad enough with spud players, if you get a spud CV vs a good one it's a royal mess. -
Pretty sure it didn't (I've completed it so I can't see it now). I got the damage on US ships in Perth (T6 commonwealth) sheer fluke there were 2 bot BB's that I HE spammed, on Russian ships in my October Revolution, the Citadel hits and fires I got playing Indianapolis (required T7 ships which I could see in the mission description when I hovered over it, no mention of nation required to be played) and the secondaries I got in my Bismarck (required T8 ships, again visible when hovered over the mission part), the modules just came along with it, I got the last 5 or so in a Mogami random game.

Admittedly I have a good range of ships at multiple tiers so I don't have the problem that @A_useless_noob had, but I finished the whole mission chain in about 3 hours, played mostly in COOP so quick games. You don't have to play in German ships, you can do it in any nation. The thing about the mission giving a German commander (which is pretty obvious from the reward) is even if you don't currently play German ships, when you do you will have a 10 point German Captain ready to put on the ship.

It's mostly down to you needing to learn how to use torpedoes, because with those average damage stats it's clear you really haven't a clue. Kamikaze for instance is an utter monster in her tier as are her identical twins Fujin and Kamikaze R, you need to be pretty dreadful to not land torps in her with the reload, stealth and agility of that ship. Gremmy and Okhotnik are devastating with guns and torpedoes at T5 played with any kind of ability at all. I'm afraid that you posting those stats just demonstrates that you really struggle with the basics of DD play if you can't make those overpowered beasts perform. Yes scouting and capping are vital, but being able to fight is no less important in the long run. -

Same here, I completed the mission chain an hour or two back and got him, the enhanced skills aren't ones I will use on any KM Captain, so it's just a free 10 pointer that I may find a use for at some point. If they had given him boosts to actually useful skills I'd be a lot more excited to have him. Dunkirk and Honore have at least 1 really handy boost so I use them. -
What's the Hydro range on this boat? I'm weakening as I really do want a KM DD premium and I can't really argue that I can't afford the cost.

Stop what? Looks like a perfectly normal T8/9/10 game, the number of radars is about the same and the DD's aren't a silly matchup. Sure there's only 1 T8 cruiser per side, but they're Edinburgh's which cope better than some T8 cruisers when bottom tiered. T8's are often bottom tier, this isn't a mystery. Personally I'd prefer +/- 1, but that's not likely to change.

Nope, you've proven that you have no idea how to play DD's well, Asashio is about as bad a DD to start in as you could pick and frankly without experience you're just a liability in a T8 DD. If you rate saving a star in a DD as performing well then you really need to get a dose of reality, it's not that tricky to sneak caps when the enemy has a large lead and are hunting down the decent players after a win is secured. As to the rest of the thread it's very clear the OP has no idea what a Japanese DD can do and will do in even semi capable hands. -
I've wanted a KM Premium DD for ages, but I actively disliked the 150mm guns when I tried them on Maass and the torpedoes don't look that inspiring either. Even after reading the (as always) excellent review by Little White Mouse I'm inclined to not bother where as I would have bought the T-61 in a heartbeat 8 months ago. Z-39 just doesn't have the appeal with lousy guns for DD fights and poor handling which means that it will get badly battered by any support an enemy DD has.

If they do the Belgrano I want to be certain it's going to be in games where I can play Conqueror and sink her on basic principles. I have far too many UK Military connections and lost too many friends in the retaking of the Falklands to consider the Belgrano to be anything other than a massive provocation. I'm not terribly taken with the Pan European idea, but at least the Blyska could find a sensible home, Neutral countries having ships in the game feels daft. The Dutch should have their own line as they had a fair number of Destroyers and some cruisers in various theatres of war that served with distinction, some Dutch flagged and some RN flagged as they evacuated as much as they could to Britain when it was clear they were being overrun.

New accounts type people aren't likely to come to the forum, and everyone that has a friend that may want to start playing has an invite code that gets the invitee a Diana and a Texas plus they get a bunch of flags. Not terribly likely your codes will be that popular.
