Super containers with 10 or 20 million credits
BeauNidl3 replied to valoaa's topic in General Discussion
As far as I'm aware if you roll a Supercontainer it doesn't pay attention to what type of container you selected. Mind you I've not had a supercontainer for at least 4 months and I usually open 3 containers a day. I'm glad there aren't credits in Supercontainers, I now have more than I'm ever likely to use up.- 34 replies

I use Preventative Maintenance as I assume that if spotted anyone with a shot will take it, I don't care that much if it's 1 or 6 or 9 people. PM can help with the various DD bits getting disabled so for me it's preferable.

DD's aren't that easy to hit, if you dodge unpredictably, while it can be very terminal being radared it's very helpful to know the radar ranges and durations and either have somewhere to hide until it's off or run the hell away from it to get out of range. Being radared doesn't have to be a death sentence. You will either learn how to cope or get killed. Edit: Obviously shooting your guns doesn't help with getting back to stealth due to the 20 second gun bloom which means anyone inside your gun range with line of sight can see you without the radar so everyone can see you.

12 easy-to-implement fixes players actually want (unlike division window)
BeauNidl3 replied to AlwaysBadLuckWithTeams's topic in General Discussion
That's exactly what I meant, assign the consumables to the slots you want on a ship by ship basis. That way if you have a heal you can always put it on a certain key slot, same with hydro, smoke, def AA, radar, plane. Ship by ship would allow for the fact some ships have different consumables depending on choices. -

The sensible answer to this issue of either/or is to have the facility to assign a consumable to the standard key slots on a ship by ship basis, as people have pointed out there are problems with assigning 1 standardised key for heal, 1 for Hydro etc as there would simply be too many for some people. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
BeauNidl3 replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Yup, feeble team Mino that wouldn't go A where his gun angles would have been deadly and BB's that camped. I admit ranked is annoying me, giving it up for today, risk of tilting. -
It makes sense, I took a look at the armour models of the Hindy and other T10 cruisers I have as I posted, it was my assumption, but you're the CV pilot so qualified for the question. I'm a bit surprised about Bayern and French BB's, but I guess it's down to armour models again.

I'm a bit surprised at the Hindenberg not being a reliable citadel drop target, is it the deck being a bit thin compared to the others? Mino is tin foil so I expected that. Interesting to see your comments on the AP bomb effectiveness.

Will you guys get Soviet Tier IX cruiser "Kronshtadt" for 750,000 Free XP after WoWs update 0.7.5 ?
BeauNidl3 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I've not bothered getting Musashi as I have Yamato and don't play it much, Nelson and Missouri I occasionally take out and enjoy them. I haven't got the 4+ million FreeXP that some have, but I could easily afford this new cruiser. -
HMCS Haida leak, coming to ST soon
BeauNidl3 replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
Well the Commonwealth and Empire ships sailed under the White Ensign as an extension of the Royal Navy and complementary to the RN, there was interchange of officers and crew. Arguably the Commonwealth captains and RN captains should be interchangeable, but since they've taken the decision not to do so the Commonwealth "nation" should be extended to include the many ships that those countries contributed rather than splitting them up into a bunch of smaller sub units that can't collaborate well. -
Fair points, http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc is quite useful for planning the Captain skills. As to the order you take them in, it's down to how you play, which ships and what your priorities are. There's no straightforward answer to what the OP asked.

@15JG52Adler is nothing more than a forum troll, I'll be quite surprised if he does apologise (never know one day he might grow up and stop trying to pwn people on the forum and actually contribute something).

Indeed and you're far from the first good CV player to say this and not be happy about it. The "anti BB weapon" is in fact best at deleting cruisers, especially if they've got Def AA on CD or they've taken a bit of HE spam and lost AA modules.

Very possibly yes, I have the spare Free XP. The main reservation I have is I find Moskva rather boring to play where as I really liked the Donskoi. -

1. Sensible. 2. Fair points. 3. I never like the det mechanic, it's cheesy at best like any "death touch" mechanic in various games. Fair point on the methods to obtain. 4. Hell yes please! No end of times I've screwed it up after swapping ships. Ideally just let us drag a consumable to a key slot so that we have control. We can already assign keys to each slot as we prefer so being able to always put Heal in 1 slot and other consumables to suit would be very nice. 5. Not a CV player, so I don't know the reasoning for 4. 6. This is damn annoying, with spotter up it always seems to send the view to a weird spot, I'd like a key combo to allow me to swap spotter to normal binocs and vice versa 7. Yes please, brown alert far too many times from this. 8. Would be really nice, I suspect tricky as I think the Radar and Hydro consumables are the same bit of code with different ranges and duration. Likely too much to ask. 9. It's not that much of a pain, I see your point, but this is in luxuries territory. 10. That's down to MM grabbing a few ships to make a game, I suspect they would say "it would make queue times too long" 11. Luxury territory again. 12. I agree it's easy as an old hand to dismiss this one, but if not familiar with the UI it's far from obvious, I see why they do it as it's a bit of monetization, but it's a tad sneaky as it is. -
Yup I find it weird when I score Citadel hits on Monty in Minotaur at range, the only conclusion I reach is that the shells are falling close to vertical, but I don't get it either, the deck or citadel top armour should stop those shells.

Fletcher is arguably a better boat than Gearing - Better concealment, far faster torpedo reload and better agility, Gearing has better guns and longer range torpedoes, but I don't rate torpedo range as very useful. Yugumo is a damn fine DD, I honestly preferred it to Shimakaze before they buffed the Shima concealment, again good torpedo reload and the option to use the TRB is excellent. ChungMu and Yueyang are very similar in a lot of ways - Chung better torp reload, Yuey better guns, not much between them and certainly less marked than the Fletcher/Gearing situation. I'll ignore the RU ones as Udaloi is plain meh and Groz plays OK, I've not played the Khaba line so no comment.
-
I've tried it, I rarely find I run out without it and running Premium consumables, it's a matter of taste. I agree an extra TRB or Hydro is nice and a heal on Khaba makes a lot of sense (if I ever play that sub line I'll build a Captain for the task), but the cooldowns are quite long and I found it just didn't pay off for me in the long run, even in games that run the full 20 minutes. I'm not saying it's a bad choice, just sub optimal for me and the way I play.

I don't want captain slots when I ask for signals and Camo!!
BeauNidl3 replied to TheFierceRabbit's topic in General Discussion
Issue? No, annoyance yes. The very last thing I want is yet more reserve slots, but Signals I do want and use. Every now and then was twice since Saturday for me... -
Lightweight, anything sub 1-1.5m and you're not trying! Seriously though against a semi decent team they will shoot at DD's as it blinds the opposition and deletes the torpedo risk, this is why as a DD player I get damn annoyed that having support (if it's not run away) most of the time they won't shoot at DD's I spot. Sure I can often win a gunfight vs an enemy DD, but the damage I take is permanent and sometimes crippling. Had that today, 6 friendlies to my rear, DD spotted for over 2 minutes and not one of them shot him, they were farming damage on BB's miles away, it should have been a trivial DD kill as he had very little support. Cost me half my health to kill him instead of none because he'd met a wall of shells from my "support".
-
Concealment is useful, in fact vital on all the DD's other than the gunboats that fire in the open constantly and have the survival tools to cope, but they're not really DD's, more ultralight cruisers. RDF/RPF is very handy and I have it on most of my T9/10 DD's, but I take it after:- PM or PT (depending on taste), Last Stand, Adrenaline Rush, Torpedo Armament Expertise and Concealment Expert (10th point is always CE). Survivability Expert I find useful for the last 3. I don't find Superintendent hugely handy on DD's (might pay off on Khaba, but I don't have that sub branch), I've tried it and an extra smoke isn't that handy, naturally I run Premium consumables anyway.

5:40 ish, just watched it. Somewhat bizarre.

I've citadelled Montana with Minotaur, always at range though 12-14km, I guess it's the mortar trajectory at that range. Not exactly common of course.

For my taste the cost vs benefit is too high taking IFHE on most DD's, they have a low base fire chance to start and much of the time it's fires that do real damage, DD's are too fragile to risk being spotted for long and if they're smoke spamming they're not providing eyes for the team. It's personal taste of course, but I tend to play my DD's as torpedo oriented with guns for backup or knife fights with other DD's. Other than Akizuki of course which is a gunboat. Kidd as well, but it's not as good for the gunboat raw slapping people around, I don't take IFHE on my Kidd, I use my Fletcher Captain which is a compromise. RDF is as much a tool for providing warning to the team of flanking and asking them to aim in a direction to blow up a DD I'm about to spot as it is for blind firing torpedoes.

I considered them a cost increase over just the ship as the Simms and Leningrad are sold at £17.03/77 mark where as the Z-39 is £19.69, however as you point out there's a port slot with the Z-39 so it's as near it makes no odds.
