Ranked Battles Season 9 - Discussion Thread
BeauNidl3 replied to MrConway's topic in General Discussion
Having played a few Ranked seasons and each time giving up in disgust at the awful teamplay (Rank 9 this time) there's only 1 thing that would make it less of a frustrating lottery, allowing Divisions. I started the season intending to get to T3 or higher, but after a while I just couldn't face the bloody awful gameplay and people bent on saving a star rather than winning. T10 ships were great for Ranked, as we know they're decently balanced on the whole, the T8 piece which I got out of as fast as I could was the expected mess and not helped at all by Asashio release which brought all sorts of issues from BB camping people that bought it and had no basic idea how to DD through to muppets that screamed for others to spot for them. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
BeauNidl3 replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
@MrWastee in his Shima, I got lucky at him with a couple of Grozevoi torps and ate one of his in return but lived. His team were weak to say the least as he came 7th despite dying early on. One of those faceroll games which was a shame. -
18% winrate-in-a-X-CV-player afking multiple times in randoms
BeauNidl3 replied to NicramDuel's topic in General Discussion
Be fair a good CV player knows that they can and will kill DD's pretty much on demand (that don't have Def AA or if it's on cooldown) and they will completely negate a DD's ability to effectively torpedo which is their primary damage mechanic. If their opposition isn't good at AA or AA tactics a good CV vs a bit of a spud will not only dominate the air, but they will spot most ships, deny chunks of the map and do far more than a good DD player vs a spud. I know enough good CV players and I've seen you say often enough that you can completely destroy the enemies ability to win, this is a bit less applicable at 9/10 of course where good base AA is on many ships, but it's still true. As you've said on the US campaign thread some of the tasks that would be an utter swine to finish in any other class are a stroll for a decent CV player. Unicum CV players are a nightmare to play against as their opposition are usually pretty awful so the game very rapidly turns into a faceroll. CV's are by a large margin more dominant than any other class, no matter how much you try to paint it otherwise it's a sad fact that the skill gap makes CV's excessively influential in a significant percentage of games. -
Anyone using HSF "K117" cammo instead of "normal" Permanent cammo "Type 20" for Yamato?
BeauNidl3 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I very rarely play Yamato (or any T10 BB's) so having a free perma camo was very nice. Not bought one for my Conqueror or GK (not played even 1 game in GK yet and I bought it the other week when KM BB's were on discount). I have perma camo's on all my T10 DD's and cruisers other than Henri which I think looks incredibly dull. -
I've not done the calculation as I have the Yamato so no obvious way to see the XP required for each ship and hull, but just how far down the IJN BB tree would you have to be before the 750k for Musashi wouldn't get you the Yamato? I suspect it's pretty low down the tiers. Is there a site that lists all the ships with their XP requirements including hulls? I agree if you've got the HSF camo the only drawback of Yamato over Musashi is Musashi is a premium so can take any Captain.

I don't understand your logic, if you were already at Amagi the 750k freeXP you spent on Musashi would have got you Yamato plus a fair bit left over. Already having Yamato I saw no point in getting Musashi and I still don't.

BeauNidl3 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I use the HSF Camo on the Yamato, I got it free from the collection which was easy to complete. It's good enough, didn't cost me 5k Doubloons and looks OK. No brainer for me. -
New campaign missions are absolutely ridiculous
BeauNidl3 replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
I was slightly disappointed that the end stage reward was a single standard American Cruisers Collection container and not a Supercontainer, each of the end stages of the Yamamoto campaign gave 2 Supercontainers. The container wasn't even one of the big American ones that at least have more flags and a mission chance. As I said earlier in the thread I will grind out the tricky missions after I've finished the Campaign by spamming the easy stuff. -
US Split - Anyone else with their captains left untrained in new ships?
BeauNidl3 replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Same here, I had no Captains on the rest of the tree that moved though. It sounds like something didn't work right. -
Every single game I've played for the last 20 years has had posts like this, I think some people get their jollies by proclaiming doom and gloom.
-
Same, it just seems to be an issue with the display of what's held server side on mission progress, not actually a defect in tracking the mission.
-
Fair analysis.

I get it periodically too, they usually disappear after the next Random game or a client reset. It's a bit annoying, but not desperately so. Bizarrely my Ranked stars periodically disappear to reappear after the next game played (no I don't mean Ranked game played, just any mode), I assume it's the same issue with the client having a bit of a "moment".

Bit of a thread resurrection but:- I open 2 or 3 Signals and Camouflage containers most days. All the Signals on the first three rows are tied to achievements, if you mouse over the Signal you can see which, these can be obtained daily (you get 10 of that type of signal when you get the achievement), some aren't that hard to get, some need a bit of luck, as you play more and get into the mid tiers you will see the achievements a little more often. The Campaigns Science of Victory, Honourable Service etc have some missions with signals rewarded. Taking part on the Public Test Server gives a few of each Signal on your main account. Some of the missions that pop up in Events/Challenges/Combat Missions give Signals. Occasionally there are codes you can enter that give Signals. It adds up over time.

I don't understand, are you saying you wouldn't equip a camo for those games anyway? Sensible players use a camo in EVERY game irrespective of missions ongoing. I don't understand how this is nil sum at all. It's certainly not hindering any progress as progress requires playing the ships anyway and not equipping a camo hinders the chance of a win. I think the missions are designed to reward good play leading to wins, you're applying some incomprehensible logic as people play the game normally and the mission will be completed as a result, assuming they're even the tiniest bit capable of playing the game. Even a very below average player with a 33% win rate it would take about 45 games to get the mission completed. Back on topic, some of the campaign missions are rather hard, I'll do the easy ones, probably several times and after I've completed the campaign I'll go back and slowly start picking off the harder ones for their individual rewards, I'm sure quite a few people take a similar approach. -
Graphic stutter and delayed actions since 0.7.5

Yup, I was surprised too, maybe it's something in their game engine that's struggling with 11 and so they've stuffed 9 in as a bandaid. -
Warspite Build (Equipment, Commander & Signals)
BeauNidl3 replied to The_Wallet_Warrior's topic in General Discussion
Indeed, not only is her HE utter garbage, her AP is excellent, plus IFHE would be daft, her guns are big enough to pen if you insist on using the awful HE. Complete waste of 7 captain points on DE and IFHE. -
Didn't show in my missions list either, suspect it didn't for anyone. My clan mates mentioned it in Discord so I did a COOP game and got it done. I'd already retrained my captain with elite XP back onto Cleveland as IFHE is utterly useless on Pepsi and I didn't want the captain (or any captain) on the ship, so I put a spare 3 pointer untrained on it with no upgrade modules. I'll probably sell it and NO and Baltimore as I've no real use for the ship and the slots could be handy.

I think I saw a mod to remove the binocular frame, not sure where though, sorry.

I consider myself a pretty poor BB driver, definitely below BB average, but I find the AP on Missouri quite usable. The HE on it has miserable damage stats and 36% fire chance, I'd only use that in weird situations or if I was deliberately DD hunting. -
Ah the filter was off, well that's much better than there being some bug that deleted ships, glad you found them. To be fair support were accurate, they were there, just a client setting didn't let you see them. All's well that ends well.

Oh, are you some kind of stylised gangster or had a bad knock to the head while surfing?

Why are you addressing him as a piece of female support equipment? As to the topic, no the ranges are fine.

PLANES STILL ALIVE AFTER CARRIER or SHIP IS DESTROYED
BeauNidl3 replied to valoaa's topic in General Discussion
I share that view, as a DD player it can be a pain in the nuts as well. I fail to see how it's game breaking, the aircraft time out after a while so it's not a permanent fixture. -
How much Credits you have? (2018 Edition)
BeauNidl3 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Impossible to have a game without people buying Premium ships and account, they need money to pay their staff and infrastructure costs. 140m prior to the US split compensation whatever that will add up to be. I struggled for a while, but it takes off.
