Stats on total amount of awards
BeauNidl3 replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
St Louis is far from stealth, I just bimbled about shooting stuff as a total newbie, I remember being a bit surprised the game ended as I was just shooting at stuff. I was out of smokes in Kutuzov, but it can be a fair kiter when stuff is chasing and nothing crossfiring, which is how I got away with that one. I'm not a very good player, in both cases there was a fair bit of luck involved. I've seen a few Solo Warriors gained by AFK's and utterly useless CV players who couldn't hit a paper bag from inside the bag, but those are the dumb ones where the enemy runs out of time to find/finish them off. -

I've had 2 Solo Warriors. 1st I'd been playing about a week or so, was playing St Louis (T3 US cruiser) it was that game where I found out what Kraken, High Calibre and Solo Warrior achievements were, I didn't even realise I was the only one left alive until the game was over. 2nd I was in Kutuzov, Confederate, Witherer and a couple of cap assists on Trap map, team melted with 2 minutes left even though we had a 300+ point lead and I just kited across half the map with 5 ships chasing me, 2 left when time ran out. Your assumption isn't that accurate. -
It's not really a problem with the Ranking system, while it's not perfect it's adequate. The issue is with the scoring system being vastly weighted towards damage farming. As @Negativvv has said (good player though he is) it was absurdly easy to score well to save a star or contribute enough to a win by sitting back in a BB with long guns and farming damage, until the scoring system is overhauled significantly nothing will improve.

That wasn't me, I haven't intimidated a New Mex in at least 2 days, but I do admit to annoying the hell out of an Iron Duke, Arizona and Kongo today, oh and a few assorted cruisers and DD's. Guilty as charged m'lud my Shimakaze Captain likes using the Kamikaze as his admirals yacht.

Yes, I've been detonated in BB's and have detonated them too, it's not common, but it happens. Seen shells and torpedoes cause detonations on BB's, but torpedoes seem more likely.
-
Do detonations now come in bulk and pre-determined?
BeauNidl3 replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Had a weird match last week where 3 ships on each side detonated, it was a complete fluke I assume. -
If you're really not keen on Battleship play then Musashi seems to be the ultimate in what you won't enjoy, as the owner of a Yamato it's really an archetypical Battleship. Slow turret traverse to the point of "do these things even rotate?", not agile and rather static in play style. I'm not a terribly good BB player, but Kongo was nice, Fuso was really nice, Nagato and Amagi I liked a lot, I wasn't a fan of Izumo and I find Yamato rather dull if I'm honest. For my taste Fuso and Amagi were my favourites, but they have a fair few guns and are reasonably agile. I have the Nelsol and rather like it, it's comical when people assume I'll HE spam them so show their sides, and they meet 9 big AP shells, it's a bit fragile and not very nimble, but it's fun to be able to aim with steering too.

How is a Farragut supposed to do well in a T8 game?
BeauNidl3 replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
Same at every tier. Basic game mechanic. Maps are smaller at low tiers so chances of you being the only one spotting a target are lower. -

The reason that a Bismarck (or any ship come to that ) disappears if you smoke up is that you're the one spotting it, if someone else has a line of sight to the enemy (and your smoke isn't in their way) then it will remain visible. -
I believe you no longer play, or at least that's what you've posted. That being said people with your attitude should be banned for a very long time to permanently, not only is it a breach of the rules, this is a team game, you do OWE the other players on your team your best efforts to win. If you or anyone else think like you've posted then you shouldn't play a game where teammates can be affected by your selfish behaviour. @MrConway I'd like to hear your view on the post I've quoted and the thread in general as people that AFK because they dislike the matchmaking or the team tactics or suicide in a CV are far from rare.

It's the positioning that impacts my Des Moines performances, I've had some great games, but too many where I've screwed it up to regard myself as being good with the ship.

Hopping mad! US Cruiser Split: Wargaming screwed up transfer of my captains to the new ships - refuse to help.
BeauNidl3 replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
I guess the system must have treated one of them as the Captain, no idea which and what rules, maybe the last one assigned to Cleveland, it sound like in that case it worked as expected. I would have expected each of those Captains to be fully retrained as part of the migration (like mine did for Pensacola), that does sound a bit like something didn't work right. -

The only one of the ships I had in port with a Captain assigned was the Cleveland. At the split the Cleveland Captain was automatically assigned to the Pensacola and retrained at zero doubloon cost to the Pensacola. I heard about the play 1 game on Pensacola to get 190k Elite XP, so I did so and got that Elite XP. The 190k is the exact amount it would require to reset the spec of a 19 point Captain using Elite XP instead of Doubloons (if you wanted to spec it for the Pensacola) I then retrained my Captain back to the Cleveland using 200k and the required Elite XP which was less than the 190k from the mission. @Admiral_H_Nelson, to clarify, which of those steps didn't work for you? From reading your post it looks like the Captain wasn't retrained for the Pensacola despite you getting the message. -
I'm not terribly good at playing Des Moines, I rarely get games that I feel I played it well, but that's not the ship being poor, it's me not playing it to its potential. You can't bow tank T10 BB's for long in any of the T10 cruisers, you need to use the armour to best effect. Hindy and Zao are very vulnerable to being citadelled, but at least in Des Moines you have the option to island camp because of the shell arcs which is much trickier to do in the others. Any T10 cruiser that's focused will be rapidly killed.

Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)
BeauNidl3 replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
I've managed to do all the tasks so far through normal gameplay. The 5 fires and 15k I got in a Kutuzov game, it's a bit RNG dependent, but there are plenty of decent cruisers with good rates of fire that it could be done in. I have seen even more BB's spamming HE even more stupidly than usual, which doesn't help them win. -
You've mentioned this before, what the hell is gatlink mod? How do you know what mods are being used by another player for that matter?

I run Def AA on Fletcher, Gearing and Grozevoi instead of speed boost, when you do meet a CV it's the difference between guaranteed death (if the CV player isn't incompetent) and maybe getting away with it. -

That's pretty much how I feel too, if they go live in this state I might not bother and just stick with my Akizuki, I don't see any great appeal in the new ones as they stand. -
So in essence no there are almost no meaningful AA risks to CV's at low tiers so unless the friendly CV can counter the enemy one then he will be able to farm almost at will. This shows up the massive influence of unequal skill CV players and leads to the hatred of CV's in general, especially the outright seal clubbers.
-
I use signal flags a fair bit, but what I actually want from a Supercontainer is something Super, like the Radar module. 50 meh camos or 7/14 days premium isn't Super at all it's just disappointing.
-
None for 4 months here then 2 in the last 2 days, sadly their contents were very meh, 50 camo's I won't use and 14 days Premium.
-
Oh don't exaggerate, what ships at T5/6 (other than Texas that's horribly slow and an HE magnet so loses AA like mad) have really meaningful AA especially now that Cleveland is T8? The reason you like to play CV at mid tiers is you have 19 point captains vs 10 point and lower seals and enemy ships with no useful AA to stop your seal clubbery. Now I'm not against seal clubbing as I play Kamikaze with my Shima captain, but with the dramatic influence of CV at low and mid tiers especially with newbie CV's as opposition is excessive, basically it's game wrecking for the other side and pretty boring for your side. Being [edited] slapped by a CV sealclubber really does put off newbie CV players so you're a part of the problem.
-
To be fair that reads like "please send me more newbies to slap about" as you've posted you only play low/mid tier CV's due to the AA at higher tiers and you are clearly part of the reason that CV play is unattractive to your opponents.

Hardly practical, teams like to have their DD's in more than 1 area usually, plus having a handy island at the right time while spotting and capping? Other destroyers, apart from the Khaba, have torpedo volleys with multiple launchers and Khaba torps are good if in close range to help deal with WASD haxors and don't rely heavily on guns for a lot of their damage potential. -

Not a chance, if they handle anything like Akizuki not having a smoke would be suicidal, they simply don't have the agility or speed to be anything like survivable in a run and gun mode for any time. Sure it's possible in a 1 on one for a period, but many cruisers are close to being as fast (a few are faster) and a few BB's are barely slower come to that, it's possible to kite in Akizuki, but it's damn dangerous. I do hope these new boats get a decent speed and handling increase as they will be constantly against fast ships with long guns and a fair bit of radar.
