    Nerf or Remove Radar

    The number of radar ships in the games I've played over the last 1-2 weeks has dropped considerably, this was exactly what I expected after the USN release cruiser release. As someone that plays a lot of DD's at mid to high tiers I still find radar an inconvenience (or a death trap if I play poorly) and I'm far more worried about other DD's than I am about radar.

    Nah, he's already got high tier CV's, but by his own admission he's bad at playing them as he's too used to farming easy kills where there's no AA and newbie CV drivers for him to pwn. His type of player is really obnoxious. I don't think the Worcester needs any real adjustment, I get decent results in mine and I've totally punished other people when they show any broadside, chewed one up really badly in my Z-52 the other day. It's a bit of a glass canon which is fine, I think it's the usual case of people liking to moan about something new they haven't learned how to deal with, plus of course the anti Radar serial complainers.
  3. I have the Cleveland and Baltimore comedy camo's, I'd sold the Baltimore the day before I got the camo as I don't play it and I have the normal perma camo on Cleveland anyway. I don't use either of the Sam the Eagle camo's. I bought the perma camo for Worcester the day before these shark and eagle ones came to my attention, if I hadn't then I wouldn't have bought it and waited for the event ones, not because I like them especially, but I don't completely hate them and a free perma camo is just that, free. I don't like these comedy camo's much, but I don't find them deeply objectionable either.

    MAX Dispersion value

    I find it easiest to think of the horizontal dispersion as a V shape with the distance between the 2 top points shortened by the Aiming Systems mod. Obviously it's of greatest benefit on ships with a large horizontal dispersion. Obviously on closer targets the distance between the effective top of the V is smaller so the shell grouping is tighter. That all being said there's an element of RNG as the shells fall inside a defined ellipse at any given range. If you increase your range with a Gun Fire Control System or Spotter the length of the lines is longer so the gap is wider at max range. Simplistic, but close enough as far as I'm aware.

    Surely this isn't a discussion about mods, but one about background software that can manipulate the graphics, I assume they're not allowed as there are ways to cheat using those tools. Mods are invoked directly by the client and some of them are making it into the "vanilla" client as UI improvements, there are many that are officially sanctioned. Reshade and sweetfx are 2 of the graphics manipulation tools that can be exploited and trigger the cheat prevention tools that WG use, it's in their published rules.
  6. The main reason I feel GC is strong is I'm not a good BB driver and yet in GC I get very decent results. In the hands of a few of my clanmates that are far better than me at BB play it's downright murderous if not shut down. It's not godlike, it's easy enough to sink, but it is very effective in the hands of a player that knows how to use it well.

    I agree completely, anyone that says GC is weak really has no idea how to play. It's basically a bigger (not very big honestly) cruiser with BB guns and a BB heal, weak AA, but that's common at T5. I really didn't understand why they buffed its torpedo protection, I don't think it warranted it.

    Indeed, show broadside in it and it's squishy, use its native agility and speed to angle and the armour compensates very well for it being low HP, plus the gun angles and accuracy work with the agility. It's a monster played with any ability, I managed to carry a game today because it's so strong and I consider myself a bad BB player.
  10. Indeed, Minotaur heal, AA and smoke plus Shima torpedoes, would just about make it competitive, it's complete cack at it is, as demonstrated by the figures!

  12. I don't especially enjoy T5/6 cruiser play, it's rather infested by CV's who're either inexperienced and ruin games or the seal clubbers who dominate and ruin games. It's not sobbish. I also don't keep silver ships unless I have a particular reason to like them. I know some people keep them and have dedicated Captains, which is how they like to play, it's not what I find fun.

    I'm not which is why I voted I don't care, I'm not likely to get it in any kind of hurry and as you say it's a pseudo BB. Not bothered one way or another.
  14. As I said I have NO INTEREST in training a dedicated captain for a lowish tier ship I don't care about. The only reason I'd consider Boise is she's a Premium so I can plonk an existing Captain in when I feel like playing it. If fully elited Silver line ships acted as ghetto Premiums for Captains that used to command them it would be a different matter.
  15. No thanks, I have the T10's in both lines and I've no interest in having a lowish tier silver ship that I have to train a Captain for. That's firmly in can't be bothered territory.

    Pretty much positive they've always been 1.4, certainly for as long as I've had Gearing. Only the Shima useless 20km torps have really huge detection. As per my last post with both torpedo type screen shotted both Gearing torpedo types have 1.4 detection.

    He's using the Torpedo Acceleration Captain skill, +5 kts -20% torp range, 2 Captain points. If you're reluctant to get in radar range to launch torpedoes then landing torpedoes will be tricky. Radar isn't that scary, it's inconvenient.

    Indeed, I've been dragged into quite a few of those, it's always, without fail, one of the CV's that causes it, usually they deny it as well. Of course for a seal clubber like the OP that's what he wants, an easy pwn game.

    I don't agree that the 10.5km torpedoes mean you can't torp effectively. The simple fact is torpedoing at 10km+ is a lottery reliant on people not using WASD, while faster torpedoes worked OK, I greatly prefer the reload of the Fletcher torps and they suit my play. Each to their own of course.

    I play all the stealth dependent T10 DD's, if I can cope with radars and I'm far from the best DD player in the game then others certainly can. Capping is possible, but not by just charging in headlong and sitting there or even dumber sitting in a smoke.

    Guilio plays rather like a cruiser and that plays to its many strengths not the least being its incredible guns with AP that just destroys stuff, having seen you play Shchors most recently, erm, well....

    I play the Gearing with Fletcher torpedoes, I like it much more now. It's a very nice option to have adding some flavour to the ship.

    You need to learn to play it, when you know how it's a monster, but having seen you play (badly, really, really badly) repeatedly I suspect you will struggle to get much out of what's without a doubt the strongest T5 BB that can comfortably hold its own as bottom tier. I'm a bit surprised Emile is being tweaked down, but I've not played it in many months, it was a very fast grind so I guess it points to it being pretty strong.
