Not true, COOP games frequently have a bot CV on both sides since a few months back they made a change to the format. No idea why or what benefit it's supposed to serve. Oh, the word there (indicating a direction) even though it sounds the same as their (indicating ownership/of them) has a totally different meaning and they're not interchangeable.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
BeauNidl3 replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
No problem, it was a mess of a game which was lost in the first few minutes. To be honest I was glad to be zapped as it was just going to be a waste of effort trying to save it. -
Not sure I agree with that, admittedly the only T8 DD I have left is the Harekaze, but I've had plenty of very good games in it as bottom tier with Radars about, I usually play it with TRB instead of smoke.

How to get that teased free week of Premium Account?
BeauNidl3 replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
I had the same popup and no Premium time appeared after I installed, played the tutorial and about 20 games. Couldn't be bothered as I found WoT not a game I enjoy playing. 4 days of Premium would have been nice though. -
I've citadelled Minotaurs through the rear at that sort of range with my Moskva, it's only got 16mm plating and 38mm lower athwartship. Same at the bows, I just aim low. I don't know if it's supposed to work, but it does.
-
Well if you show your side to a Minotaur at that range he will just citadel you to death with 2.8s reload 10 gun volleys in less time than it takes you to reload, he's nothing to lose and stands a better than fair chance of tearing you in half. His guns certainly can't pen the new Moskva bows, at most you would have taken some superstructure damage.
-
Moskva can easily citadel Minotaur at that range through the bows stern or sides, plus you have radar which he doesn't so you can see him at 8km+ when he can't.

I'm more concerned about cookie cutter tactics rather than builds, at the moment there are many ways to make most maps work, throw a CV into that mix and that variety will leap straight out of the window. With CV's around a lone wolf or duo spotting, sneaking caps and flanking would be instant toast, high tier CV's have far too many planes for a small number of ships combat scenario. I often play at stupid late/early times and I've seen plenty of small team games because some clown CV player has been queued for 5mins +, yes they're Random games without teamplay, but the CV presence makes the game a farcical faceroll in one direction or the other, they're vastly too strong for small numbers of ships. Just look at the mess that is Ranked when there are CV's. Plus let's face it if for some bizarre reason you had a CV side vs a non CV side the whole thing would be a bad joke, so it would have to be balanced like the current MM so teams that didn't want to have CV games wouldn't field one to ensure they don't.

Isn't BB's AP overpen a little bit to much for the DD's?
BeauNidl3 replied to SR_FRIOL's topic in General Discussion
Seen it in both directions, been splattered in DD and seen a single overpen do nuts damage, it's busted somewhere. Indeed, I agree, the whole reload cycle at around 30s makes it impractical I'm really glad to hear that, it was a dumb idea which would have resulted in secondaries, cruiser AP and even small calibre DD AP causing all sorts of issues. -
Visibility, in a small numbers game where objectives are key and stealth is a real factor CV's would be excessively strong, they're a bit much in 12v12 at times where it's frequently a case of better CV player wins the games. The current Clan Battles format allows for some flexibility in team makeup and tactics, CV's would throttle that to cookie cutter options and what amounts to CV's plus AA pickets. Not my idea of fun which Clan Battles is at the moment.

Isn't BB's AP overpen a little bit to much for the DD's?
BeauNidl3 replied to SR_FRIOL's topic in General Discussion
This is true, I got hit by 2 turrets of a Lion in my Fletcher, knocked out all guns, both torpedoes, engine, rudder all AA. 2 turrets and 1 torp tube were destroyed permanently along with all the AA. Oh and 10k damage. It's very nasty. Unless I'm sailing a Brit BB I stick to AP on DD's as if it angles it tends to do horrible damage even dev strikes, but most of us who drive DD's know this very well. -
Hell no, CV's would just ruin the format, 7v7 CV's are way too strong, the same way their talk of 8v8 with 2 BB's would be a disaster, from 1/7th of the team to 1/4. Yuey is very good in Clan Battles, I play mine a fair bit, I also play my others with Shima being my least played.

Radar: Reducing the number of radar ships to 2 per team/game.
BeauNidl3 replied to ThinderChief's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. Not forgetting the additional difficulty of revealing what consumable that RN cruisers, USN cruisers and PA DD's have mounted right from the start of the game. It's not practical even IF they would implement the coding necessary to do it, which seems extremely unlikely. -
You will improve as you go along, I started out epically bad, I've reached the lofty heights of crap to plain awful, steady progress made. The game looks simple, but there's a fair bit you learn as you play more, like the spotting mechanics apparently. It is true that WG were pretty awful at providing basic training, some of the recent videos have improved the situation somewhat.

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.
BeauNidl3 replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
This speaks for itself, I'm sure a very familiar sight to many. The Z23 spawned that side and headed to E1 then A1, the Moskva, Mino Yamato spawned below C and immediately headed to A abandoning the Shima that went towards C then gave up in disgust and Yolo'd. -
Radar: Reducing the number of radar ships to 2 per team/game.
BeauNidl3 replied to ThinderChief's topic in General Discussion
How exactly do you think this limit of radars per team could be achieved? There are some complications. 1. Just because a ship can and usually does carry radar, is it a radar ship? Most can carry a spotter plane instead. 2. Just because a ship can, but often doesn't carry radar (RN cruisers, PA DD's) because it has to give up smoke, is it a radar ship? 3. Chapayev only gets radar with the B hull, is it a radar ship? 4. At higher tiers many cruisers have access to radar with a hard cap what would the effect be on queue times? 5. If queue times are badly changed do you really want to see even less cruisers played than current low numbers? Those are just the immediate issues that leap to mind without any intensive thought. Maybe your proposal (apart from being yet more of the anti radar spam threads) hasn't really been thought through. -
I find it hard to disagree more with that statement.

The game matchmaking from Tier 6 onwards is +/-2 (T5 it's -1 +2 as up to T4 it's +/-1) Ignore the historical realism argument, this isn't a reality simulator. Some ships do struggle when 2 tiers lower, most don't, plus the rewards for being bottom tier are higher. WG have said repeatedly they have no intention of changing the +/-2 tier matchmaking so I'm afraid there's no point complaining about it.

A quick question on Capt skills for rented Ships for Clans
BeauNidl3 replied to RedOnly's topic in General Discussion
The rental ships behave as if they were Premium ships. You have a Chapayev Captain - Lets say 14 points at the moment. You put the Chapayev Captain on the rental Moskva and play some games, he doesn't require any retraining to move to the Moskva and his assigned ship STAYS as the Chapayev. Say your clan decides to stop playing Clan Wars for the evening you can then put your Captain back on Chapayev (which he's still trained for) and play him without any retaining penalties. You can do this as many times as you like just as it is with any Premium ship. By your posts I guess you never move Captains to new ships as you move up the silver lines and possibly have no Premium ships. For example I have a Captain that is assigned to Donskoi, I swap him to Kutuzov, Makarov, Molotov and Varyag all of which are Premiums, but his specialisation is still Donskoi. I can move him to any of those ships (or the Rental Moskva if I wanted to) as many times as I like with no cost, no penalty and no retraining. If the rentals work like they did the previous seasons, if you have a Captain on a rental when that rental is removed then he will be sent to reserve with his ship specialisation still on the ship he originally came from (in your case the Chapayev), but his skill points will be re-assigned for free so you can re-spend them. I do not know if this is the case this season. -
The game doesn't reward spotting more than before, if it does then it's not apparent in the score sheet, the new spotting ribbon while nice to have doesn't mean much sadly. These threads that are produced every few days just highlight the fact that some people don't play very well, I'm very far from the best DD player, yet I manage to cap and don't spend my games just flanking.
-
Hood is showing at 4,850 Doubloon price instead of the 9,700 in the client so yes it's discounted on Doubloon price. Hope that helps.
-
On the plus side as part of the "radar makes DD play impossible" whine thread spam at least he moaned about some other stuff too, just to add a tiny bit of variety. Thing is I like playing all my high tier DD's, nothing much has changed. p.s. WG where's my pay cheque?
-
Not every Shima player ignores caps, I certainly don't. As to the rant that started the thread, yes CV's are annoying and a good CV player can and will kill DD's, yes planes make torpedoes useless and the torpedo spotting mechanic should change, but it won't in the foreseeable future. I get the impression you play Gearing, you know it can carry defensive AA? Mine certainly does, as does my Fletcher. Radar is an annoyance, not a death sentence, assuming you learn how to play. I disagree with most of the rant, but sadly WG doesn't pay me for my opinion.

I use a mod from one of the packs that have distinct and obvious differences if spotted by:- Plane LoS/Proximity Radar OR Hydro I don't think the game has any support for differentiating between Radar and Hydro, if it did then the modders would already be doing that. I'm pretty positive the code for Hydro and Radar have the same fundamental spotting code, just with range modifiers and Hydro spots torpedoes.

Nobody uses the Freedom! permoflages, and noone will use the Go Navy permoflages
BeauNidl3 replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
I've not looked into the files at all, but wouldn't it be possible to either replace the model you hate with the default model of that ship or if it's got some kind of pointer, point them both at the same model?
