Operation Killer Whale - a Tactical Challenge for the Tactically Challenged?

You kill him fast then you go for Nassau, like that you "clean the road" for your team :) If you get at him fast, in first 2 min, he stays idle - is just target practice - for 3 torpedo runs !

    Georgia's sigma

Is my impression or Georgia do make MORE credits than a T10 bb? I have the T10 Thunderer and Georgia, and, from my experience, Georgia ( or even JB) make MORE credits for me than T10 Thunderer... Facing ships a tier upper ( t9 vs T10) may be the reason ( most of the times a T9 will face T10) - when a T10 do not have this advantage... So, for the same dam / game , lets say, 100k / game, in average, I do more credits in Georgia than Thunderer... I am wrong here ?....

More T6 premium CVs? (At the risk of being burned at the stake)

Hahaha, you made my day dude ! Such a laugh ! Fraking T8 cv, vs 3 ships - a T10 AA cruiser, a T9 bb ( JB) and a N Carolina, all packed at under 1km distance between them - T8 cv wing come, ignore the AA bubble and manage to make the drop, hitting a bb. 20 sec later, she do the same - with another wing and kill the NC. I see this in almost any game with cvs, AA do crap against cvs - first drop is almost granted, even at the cost of full squad. If this work for a T8 cv against a pack of 3 hard hitting AA ships, 2 tiers upper, imagine what a T10 cv can do...

Operation Killer Whale - a Tactical Challenge for the Tactically Challenged?

Killer Whale is like an easy ride in the park, if you go on a cv - you can simply carry the team far easier ; Newport, on other hand.... as a cv, you simply do not have the RoF and dam. output to hold on the crazy rushing, bow-in, bots. If the team loose 1-2 guys right on start ( and that is common, sadly...) you can be sure you will get screw. Newport is a cruiser made Op. - Leander, Nurmberg, Budi, Dallas, Huanghe, even - fast fire cruisers - are the best, some dds also can shine ( like Aigle), those dds who can cit cruisers at 4-6km, but bbs and cvs, in Newport , are not so great. Killer W.. on other hand, favor Cv.s and, most important, allow a decent cv. to carry the team - even a bad team - far more effective than you can carry on Narai. I will say, for a solo player, you make much easier credits in KW than in Narai, just because the randomness of bad teams in Newport can screw you a lot easier than in K Whale. I wish WG value a lot more the Ops, especially with the curent meta, who make the T8-9-10 so boring and such a crappy HE spamming fest, with the utterly failure of Cv. reeeework , when more and more peoples return to Ops in order to have some decent fun... Instead, Ops are pulled out, in a WG move like a slap on the face... Oh, and Alistar Maclean - probably my favorite author when it comes to sea warfare... I read HMS Ulysses some 40 years ago, still fresh on my mind... what a book !

Operation Killer Whale - a Tactical Challenge for the Tactically Challenged?

Indeed, this Op, as a "solo player", is a "cv must" if you want to be sure for a win. I agree the Ryujo is, by far , THE best ship here: an extra TB (compared with Furious) AND much more dam. for each torpedo hit, make Ryujo a true "bots eraser"; Is common rule to see any decent cv here top score, with "major contribution". For me, the first move is always to fast kill that cruiser sitting on F line alone, at the entrance on Harbor - you have some 2 minutes to kill him, right on start, since that bot will stay there idle, perfect target for your torps, first 2 minutes: so I fly my Tb left a bit, pass the fort on left and then I turn right and drop on him first torps, and one more drop, immediately, from other side. With Ryujo I can kill him in just 2 runs ( 4 torps), with Furious I need 3 runs. Like that, the guys on team can rush in port without dealing with the annoying bot spamming HE like a MG - and the guys in dd manage to enter immediately. Right after I go to Nassau, again with torps - Always TORPS ! - and I kill her, than I move on those 2 bbs, and usually I am over 100k dam before next stage pops-in, I am always near A1 point, with a wing of TB, ( where first bb target spam) when the first bb target come, so I can put 6-8 torps on her with first wing, and the next one, 1 min. later, is enough to finish her. Immediately after I return near A1 where the second bb target come, I kill her using the same strategy ( is far easier to torp them right on spamming point, when they do not maneuver a lot) - and by doing this, the team have no incentives to go near since are no other main targets aside that pair of cruiser+bb coming from N. Usually any decent bb will easily deal with them, if not, I have more than enough planes to help there ( I do not lost a single plane thus far, so the reserve pool is full...). Getting out , to the N exit, is the "easy option", even with a bad team. The other exit, to the E, is far more complicated if the team fails, since you must pass near of dds, cruisers, and even bbs spamming point, and you will take fire ( HE, AP AND torps) from all of them. If the team is down to only 2-3 guys, the E exit will be a hard exit - the N exit can be done even alone, once you are far more protected and you only need to enter exit circle, you just need at least 1hp to touch that exit and you are out. To conclude, is a cv Op., you can get nice credits, Xp, level your commanders, etc, and, true, is no excuse, for a cv, to fail the first place on tab. A decent cv ( I am between decent and potato myself !) MUST have something between 200 - 300k dam. on this Op, and end the Op first place with major contrib. If the cv player is not there, he/she is worse than a potato.

    The current meta

I fully agree with you, common sense in your reason. The load of info ( add also the DIFFERENT ballistics for each type of gun/ship) and the fact each patch alter something ( see the cv REEEEWORK), make this game so fluid one need to play almost each day in order only to keep track of what he learned AND what was changed: new HE spammers coming each week, patches after patches, buffs/nerfs showing-up, sometimes public, sometimes hidden or far to less transparent, etc. My girl is 13yo and some years ago she started playing wows, then she moved to other games. Some days ago she gave another try, at t6, and she got confused / bored in just a couple of games, even with me on her side, explaining things...

    The current meta

Some time ago ( not too long...) I was complying here about 3 -4 min co-op games ( got stuck on those crappy directives for PR, so co-op was the way , for me); Sadly, the co-op short battles are nothing more than a mirror of the WOWS random battles. Lately I have more and more games when a team get stomped so bad in first 2 min, they loose half of ships, and the game ends in 5 min. If you are in a radar cruiser ( like me ) and you try to use some brains ( getting in a position where your radar cover 2 caps, for example, and you try to get there stealth, not shooting at that bb 19km away , so the enemy dd wont know you are near) - well, this kind of strategic planning will let you, many times, with an pathetic 15-20k dam before the game ends - that is, in 5 minutes - the whole length of the game ! - will be not enough for you to even have a profit. You will loose credits even with a premium ship and flags, because you did so little damage and your team lost. My last game took 5 min, and I spent 4 of them reaching the point where I could radar both caps. But half team get deleted on those 4 min ! DDs sailing on torps, cruisers sailing full broadside at 10km of bbs, nobody goes for caps... In just 5 min the enemy took ALL 3 caps, deleted half my team, and I only manage to put 2 strikes in a Yammy, before all ended. Yesterday , same story - 9 defeats in a row, 1 win, all on the same line - 5-10 min games, with a team COMPLETELY obliterating other team. Not the smallest drop of skill balance. Like the game choose ALL bad players on a team and put them against the best players on other team. Lemmings trains, no dialog between players, no interest at all on capping, not the smallest worry about open flanks, or crossfire, just yolo and/or border camping. The game become sick and boring, and I will not blame the player base. The only responsible here is the dev team of WOWS, who seems to me to not give a single thought about the game meta and do not bother with that.

British Cruisers Part 1 Random bundles

For sure this fall on line with WG line of thoughts... the PR event is the living proof of that.

British Cruisers Part 1 Random bundles

15 containers opened until now, not a fraking ship. My clan-mate open 17, also no ship.

    Naval Station....

Indeed, I fully agree, ships like Aigle who can cit cruisers left and right and torp bbs usually get a lot more dam than a bb . DDS are a great tool to perform well there, and bbs sit right on the opposed side. DDS and cruisers with high DPM are best suited.

    Naval Station....

I play Ops a lot, as a manner to re-fill my credits, so I can throw my 2 cents here: SKIP. If you are not in a division with at least 2 more mates, and play alone, like me, all become a lottery where your chances are 1 in 4 for a win. So, the house will win 3 of 4 games, because peoples go yolo ahead and get surprised by next wave, in cross fire ( usually the next wave come before your team manage to kill all the precedent wave...) , or are guys who suicide in first 2 minutes, or the bots with repair get drunk ( the Coronavirus do damages in China, the auto-pilot bug on other hand, infected all bots in Wows...) so, even if you perform exceptional well, come the last wave where the bots rush at you and you simply cannot survive alone. The so called "help" ( the 2 dds who spam to help, at the end, if the team got mauled, are absolutely useless, they do not use torps ( unlike attacking bots, who seems to co-ordinate on launching walls of torps, 3-4-5 of them at once ! - and you may see instances when you face over a dozen or more of torps each direction) - so, those 2 dds who come to help are absolutely useless, only spamming HE at that Izumo for zero dam. I give up with Narai, and I will wait for Killer Whale, there you can make some decent credits and train your commanders. Is not worth the time and the stress, if you play alone.

Poll: Royal (token) Bundle drop chance

More, I got 2 containers and 1 mission from watching wows Twitch, I log - in game only to see, to my surprise, I was credited - INGAME with ONLY ONE container...( nothing especial a pair of flags, and 50 k credits) - and no fracking mission... I not even bother to submit a ticket, I am so tired of WG failures... They lie us even with the Twitch drops !

Poll: Royal (token) Bundle drop chance

Ended all first 2 directives, and got some 200 tokens ( 165 from directives, some 35-40 from daily missions); That translate in 10 containers, no ships at all, only a poor man one flag and some pee-pee 50k credits most of them...

Narai Op. come in 2020 bugged

The fact they say ( WG) SAP cannot start fires make me to suppose the HE filter is simply not there, at all. And the damage you get with SAP at long range is the damage you get with that small pen value ONLY on superstructures, reason why first salvo in a bb can give you 10k ( Brindisi) and next one only 3-5k, and fast enough bbs with 40% HP will take almost no dam. from SAP - superstructures are already saturated, so you get 500-600 dam from 6-8 shells combined, with many shatters. SAP seems to me to be just an ordinary AP with minimal PEN but much better angles, better somehow than RN AP shells. They are indeed deadly against dds, but for that caliber, also the HE are deadly if used similar caliber. I suppose a dd hit by 7-8 of 203mm HE shells will still take a lot of dam. Anyway, from what the day-by-day practical results we see, I am convinced the HE filter simply do not exist in SAP. Reason why they cannot start fires, reason why cannot do any dam., no matter the range, against forts. IRL a REAL SAP shell could start fires, unlike in wows - and that is because do have an REALL HE filter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_British_ordnance_terms#S.A.P. "... Semi armour-piercing: introduced after World War I as the successor to common pointed shells for naval use. They had a heavy solid nose and a medium amount of TNT explosive, ..." That "medium" amount of HE, are not present in wows mechanics, imho. Is just a glorified AP shell, with a fixed pen value, great angle, and several limitations. You argue about "switching" to AP, but from my experience the italian AP feel like THE worst AP in-game, and personally I used them ( to cit some cruisers) very rare. They are so bad is almost like WG "push" you to use only SAP....

Narai Op. come in 2020 bugged

Not that simple - remember in RN you need to get UNDER 8km in order to damage forts - shoot a Leander guns - with AP ! - at 9 km, lets say, and you get again ZERO dam. Now, what I call to be something wrong, you slap a fort with SAP from 2 km and still do ZERO damage. OK, not enough pen - I can understand that, even if at 2km should be more than enough pen, considering a DD shooting AP at 2km still do some damage - but - we are told is also an HE filter on SAP shells - well, then why that HE filter still is not working ? "... Semi-armor piercing shells - a new type of shell, similar to high explosive terms of in armor penetration mechanics, .."https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/119989-st-new-type-of-shells/ ( YabbaCoe , Community manager) Now you see my point ? OK, give less pen, but allow that HE part to do some damage... something is still better than nothing. Or, most probably, when they introduced SAP they not give a single thought about Ops...
