best ships at tier 5-6 for co-op?
Butterdoll replied to HassenderZerhacker's topic in General Discussion
that's a shame, it's a really good ship. Let's be fair, 15 battles is low to judge a ship, yeah, it can take a lot of damage but also can dish out a good amount of damage. It's great against DDs, CLs and can burn down BBs. I sunk every cruiser from t6 to t8, I've sunk every dd from t6 to t8 But the Z-52, I lost count to the BBs I sunk with Buddy. Both of them are equally important, you went for concealment first and that's ok, if you went for IFHE first that would be ok as well. IFHE will give you a boost in your damage output because you gain pen capacity and your shells wont shatter so much, for a HE spamming CL IFHE is the bread and butter, meanwhile with HE try to aim for the BB and CA superstructure. With AP try to hit the Cl's and Ca's citadel. If IFHE is the bread and butter of a CL, CE can be the difference between seeing the end of the battle and going to port early. @Captain_Newman or you could go. IFA + PT + AR + DE + IFHE + CE + RPF -
Thank you all for the replies Please don't be caught up with the coop thing, that is just a detail. I'm looking for a build for random battles. @ColonelPete I know that, but I'm starting from scratch with Leander and for now I'm struggling with the ammunition type, I'm struggling in doing reliable damage. Yesterday, I finally get some citadels., in the following example may seem ok games until you notice the damage output of the guns. (and this it's among the better ones.) The ship itself, I like it very much I wish that my other CLs would behave like Leander Leander it's a flexible ship regarding builds. Carry on with the discussion it may help with my decision I'm a little confused about the PT. While IFA is equally value in CLs I don't see the advantage in the type of ranges where Leander normally is.

@DFens_666 The Ship will go To Ops and eventually to Random. But for now it's a coop only. I don't want to burden teammates with a stock Leander and a completely noob at the helm. But the build I wanted to be for Random

I know what you mean and all, and I'm not saying that you are wrong. But regarding Bias Have you look to the post battles reports in Port? If there are, let's say 7 defeats and 3 or 4 victories in 10 or 11 games, it isn't confirmation bias anymore, right?

Well... The former Chanceler of Germany, Helmuth Kholer (), is the commander of my Bayern (for a while now) The ship is a very late bloomer for me. The German cruiser line was the last line I grinded between the ones I have and the German BB line was frozen for at least one year. But now Helmuth Kholer come from the back and was the first to reach the rank of Great Admiral, 19 points. Who would know? Not me. So I would like to know your suggestions What is the best possible build for Bayern? Specifically for Bayern, tailor made for Bayern. Thank you.

Sugestions for the best build for Bayern
Butterdoll replied to Butterdoll's topic in General Discussion
I know. I've been here 3 years or more and this is my first 19 points captain, but soon, very soon I will have 2 more. At least. . the problem of what you say is..., which is the main road everyone is taking (other way to say nothing wrong with it) not having a specific build for a ship you will not take the most of that ship, and that can hurt your performance like you said. As a cruiser main I reached t8 and meh. Meanwhile I had two ships specialized and did see a difference. And I mostly play t6 and t7, so my Highers captains will go there, they will be 4 captains and those 4 captains will do the rest. Maybe in a year or so I can insta captains for higher tier ships. -
Sugestions for the best build for Bayern

A floating brick? Usually my main gripe with Bayern was about the speed...until I reached the t8 cruisers....which are unwilling ships, all of them are slow to do everything. stop, accelerate or turning. Gneisenau it's an outstanding ship but it's strengths can also be your doom. (mainly the speed). So, Bayern as a German BB it's much better than t8 cruisers and the speed can force you to pace yourself, forcing you to think more. And as a T6 ships you will never encounter those Hyper HE spammers except for Bayard, but so far, I find they are rare to see in battle. Bayern can pass for an unsuspected ship in the eyes of some Tirpitz, Bismarck and Gneisenau players, after all, it's just a T6 ship and the next thing they know, they can be sunk by it. I could go on and on, but bear with me because I want to make a point All of this to say that Bayern while being a T6 has lots of things to offer, have lots of weakness to, mainly 25 mm bow and stern vs t8s BBs but being a floating brick was never one of the weakness. Try this. If you have credits and want to give another go speed = 25 knots. 26.3 knots with the go faster flags. turning circle = 620 m or 630 m (I can't remember which one) rudder speed = can be down to 11.1 s ( because you can afford that, being a t6 you will never meet hyper HE spammers, except for Bayard, which is rare to see) Pretty dam good, the best t6 BB if you ask me. May be lacking accurate guns but who needs them, when you have all the rest? -
Sugestions for the best build for Bayern
Butterdoll replied to Butterdoll's topic in General Discussion
Thank you All. I wanted to double check with you all before I commit some more skill points and regret later. @nambr9 @Rautainen_Biisoni This captain will remain in Bayern. Like every captain I have, they will be dedicated to the ship where they are. No generic builds. When and if I reach GK I will recruit a new captain and he will be specific to that ship. (e.g.) My Freddy's captain is a 4 pointer. @Endorphin187 How wee are on opposite sides of the field, IMO Germans BBs are, so far, the only proper BB line, all the rest are meh. For me, IJN BBs are trash, the others in a BB vs BB, are like a bunch of Pensacolas with few exceptions The RUBB line are the ones that comes closer but German BBs are still better as a overall ship. No US BBs, I'm at Wyomming and it sucks big time. French BBs are OK. @Floofz I saw your replay, and didn't see anything wrong with it. A bit aggressive in the beginning... but, it's like you said, and that's how you play a BB. Sure, the guns are a bit wonky sometimes, you covered two caps, you took a lot of damage, no other BB line would allow you to do what you did and that's the trade off. You did a great job. While you might enhance the Nurnberg ego, you made that Kirov crap his pants and even if his Hail Mary torps had work you already putted him out of the fight. Sure, you could choose other BB, play in other way. Do higher damage numbers But it was thanks to Bayern that you said and that's how you play a BB. @Odo_Toothless How many kms have a Bayern with CE? -
I disagree. they can be mobile but inside the green perimeter. exiting the green will bring all kinds of problems for anyone who do not have a heal. and I'm not talking about those that rush forward or simply doodle about the map like toddlers. For a cruiser it's extremely hazard to exit the green even at wave 1, because it will eat a ton of unnecessary damage and he could be caught up by the second wave, and even if the cruiser survives that, he will have to head for the healing circle before the right time to do it. Plus the waves deployment are a bit random and it's easy for a ship that commit to a wave to be out of position afterwards. Could happen both, be out of position and low on health in a operation where all guns count. A BB can do that more easily because it can sustain itself further with the heals, maintaining a presence in the front line for longer, and if that BB is good and have support, that's a step in the right direction. I think it's better if the team follows the waves has they approach the perimeter, focusing dds at first, then cruisers, than BBs In the main assault the team could assume defensive positions behind the islands and cover each other's flanks And I want to add another thing that I noticed in Aegis but it's valid for all of them. DDs and Cvs, please be aware when you launch torps against the bots. Plan better your launches because most of the times, to avoid your torps those bots that were broadsiding other ships they change direction staying bow in to the incoming fire.

Dallas, Budyonni, Nurnberg are good for this op. Bayern can be very good also. As a cruiser I don't get out of the green perimeter and shoot AP, HE against the bots. DDs always first. I tend to prefer the left side As a BB I make small sorties outside the green perimeter, I tend to prefer the right side, definitely if the cv is coming from the right, I go out to meet the Aoba and York, coming back in with the Bayern bot and then fight Izumo or Kaiser. There are two little islands at the back, great for healing and to find cover from the main assault, if the team splits between those two islands they can cover each other flanks, from the left island while one player is shooting the dd and Nurnberg the other can target the Myoko and Kaiser. Sometimes one player can focus all of them if his back is being covered and if that player is receiving help from the team

I.. I don't know, you know after comparing the bows between Bayern (25 mm) and Pyotr something, the t5 bb (25 mm + 175 mm) I don't know. Yes I had a awesome defeat where I sunk two T5 RuBBs with my Bayern, but in the other day a Bayern couldn't do anything to my Pyotr, nothing. RUBBs are truly all or nothing.

No, you are not the only one who exclusively enjoys co-op, and there are plenty of guys that enjoys several game modes. Fair enough, but you are missing out on fun, there are plenty of good fantasy ships out there, and others that never existed as WG made them. Why not have both? and you can filter the ships in port, perhaps you can hide the fantasy ships and only show the historical ships. But not for the right reasons, coop has a more individualist gameplay or you get away more easily with that approach, random not so much.

Seems like the future of WoWs is even more HE spam

Why can Shchors stop a BB with torps, and Chapayev can't?

I was seeking for a topic but with no avail. A long and active topic about PEV while the campaign was going, more or less a year ago. Can you help me@1MajorKoenig? One of the reasons I couldn't find it in a quick search is because the PEV campaign did a good impression on me, While PEV itself was a let down as a German BB but at the same time because of ships like Bayern, Nurnberg, Bismarck, Gneisenau, Budyony, Shchors made it possible. It was fun thanks to them, and the campaign while a little steep, in retrospective was well balanced overall. So I really can't call BS to this review, as far I am concerned Guns are bad. Just look to Giulio Cesare, same calibre of guns. just look to Normandy , 340 mm guns. PEV has no turtleback and so on. In my case, PEV is a port queen and Bayern moved on to sprints, it's a go to ship for every mode I play. I can't speak for all but about the time the campaign was running, I think almost everyone who grinded or bought it, felt mislead because the key word was / is German BB and that implies having certain characteristics that PEV is lacking. Instead it should be a Pan European BB to not be so bland in "National flavour". PEV was meant to be a different ship , the CCs like Flamu, Notser, and so on, reviewed the ship but just before release, WG, in all it's wisdom blitz nerf it and shortly after nerf it again indirectly with the cv rework, so, the redeeming factors are running out fast , 28 knots vs 25 knots (Bayern with a signal) it's not that big of a difference. When a ship is released, in the beginning it can be OP, good or bad, but that can change to a certain point when the player base get use to it. I went to see your profile, you have under 2000 battles but you joined in 09-08-2012. If by any chance you missed the PEV campaign or didn't grinded at that time for whatever reason if by any chance you missed the buffs and nerfs of the PEV and/or don't care about "National flavour" As I said, if You just bought a ship and you clicked with it and are enjoying it, Amazing state of Grace you are living right now. Good luck with your ship and happy hunting Great purchase.

Well, @nambr9 The image speaks for itself . (also old as F.) the thing was, I never could do what's in red with my underage Bayern (this was when I hated the 21 knots of Bayern and everything else about it). And the few times I played it I was forced to cut corners to be able to keep up with the team, trailing behind... What's in red I really can't complain, a lot of citadels, good firing angles, one can be relevant for the entire game while going into positions at the same time. the green, I discover a few months ago. but only with some cruisers, like Dallas, French Cl's and Nurnberg it's ok, you can citadel cruisers, put the BB on fire and put some pressure on the last bots while undetected and if the team helps, you are golden. As I was saying I always struggled putting the weight of my BBs on the field, and your video help me a lot with this Op, I adopted your approach with my BBs and I started to do thing after a time. I went from the bottom to the top a good amount of the times. yeap, was that one, a lot of citadels and going strait up inside the islands. Do you wanna see? Just a few days ago with Normandie. There are still differences but I'm getting there. 20200116_223243_PFSB106-Normandie_37_Ridge.wowsreplay So, thank you

Yeah, Arizona... My very first battle with PEV ended with me running away from an Arizona. That was a first while in a German BB
-
That's not a big deal, it doesn't take much to be good against cruisers. Just saying Let me put it this way. In this game, PEV it's a German BB. And for a German BB it's a bland ship at best, it's a black ship of the German BBs, mainly because it doesn't do things that we came to expect from a German BB. For me, Bayern it's strait out better in every way, Because it does what "says in the tin", and sometimes even more. But if you take PEV like any other BB, it might be okish, I guess... the important thing is that you are happy with your purchase and you are enjoying it.

There should be a place in the forum named Ops, in there, sticky topics, one for each Operation, where players could upload their battles, those videos would function as a rough guide to everyone who wanted/needed . Is it possible @Crysantos? And even if a player doesn't need, he can benefits from it. Case and point. I always did Aegis in a way, can't complain, did good in them. But after a similar topic to this one about strategies in Ops, a while ago, I saw a Aegis replay of @nambr9 , which wasn't enough to change the way how I play my cruisers but I adopted his strategy to my BBs and they started to work very well, thanks to him I managed to be in the right time in the right place with my BBs. @Hanse77SWE nice replay, I hope it stays visible for many people to see it

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

I too unlocked Mogami just a few days ago, it's looking promising, the only downside it's the huge citadel. Let's see if it can be fun. A lesson learn with Octopus EM might be a must. -

Butterdoll replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Well it's not a Bayern. But it's quite nice, but that I already knew it from raptor rescue. I rarely play it, but I'm thinking in put it in rotation, just like I did with Bayern. (Bayern started in co-op, then Ops, now it's doing random and even a sprint) Can bit hard . Not as tanky but can insta delete things Fast and agile (31 knots, with go faster signals) It manage to dethroned Bayern in citadels in one game, close to my record (25 ) My only hesitation, in a random environment, the AA it's not good. -
I have stopped caring. Not even about the British line i have waited since Beta for.
Butterdoll replied to WascallyWabbit's topic in Archive
That's probably why you start to play this game. And not because of this. I never was a fan of WG per say. A little. Who cares. I started this game because of Bismarck. (I'm a fan). I discover some fun ships along the way. Cv rework it's a disaster . PR don't affect me a tiny bit And so on. Have fun as long as you can, after all, most probably it all end very soon
