    So, planning ahead...

Not really... I think... I mainly play t6 and t7 , past that not much. and I 've been playing other classes past t7 (BBs) So, why would i put my strongest captains in tiers that are much less played by me? I wouldn't take advantage of the economic benefits of a 19 point captain. Normally, premium ships are mostly Port Queens, the main reason, they are a dead end in the tech tree. Yes, you are, way more, I don't have a single t10, If not for this 2 month thing to get Moskva, I would get it very eventually, very i'll get there when I get there style. So, I'm much more casual player than you, I enjoy Ops, random and co-op and so far in competitive... Sprints are cool ( I have to take a look in CB yet). About Lazo I don't know , I let it slip between my fingers, Lazo and Exeter, both of them, I was distracted until it was too late, if I'm not mistaken, Lazo was just after the PEV campaign. Shchors it's a step up from Budyonni in fire power, and there's ops, Sprints, that's why. And Shchors it's fresher than Budyonni right now, because, of my 4322 random battles (I saw a couple of days ago) I did 814 random battles with Buddy. plus Ops plus co-op. I picked up Bayern again after a long time and I had 20 battles in random (testing the ship) now I have 200 battles in it. I didn't noticed that. Guess, when I like a ship, I like the ship In the beginning, rushing the tiers made me not full enjoy some ships, now if I like a ship, I will stop and enjoy it. Then this will happen, scrambling for my goals

    So, planning ahead...

A - Because I'm putting 19 point captains in my favourite ships. Bayern has one Budyonni, very soon will have one Schohrs has one Nurnberg will have one (will need a little push from the other three) after that, others of my favourites will follow, mostly around t6 and t7, B - For economic reasons. Even if I decide to play from t8 to t10 much more often (which I doubt ), I will need to play lower tiers to feed the big boys, so, putting my strongest captains not only in the ships I like the most, but also, in the ships that are the "working horses". Makes sense to me. C - After all my favourite ships have a 19 point captain, the high tier captains will be much faster to train than now. Like the FDG captain currently with only 4 points D - I will be able to specialized every single ship with a specific build instead of a generic build Actually I'm doing in the hard way. If I do it in ops, only the captain will be levelled up and the coal. And the focus isn't the captain. Doing in the Chappy I'm grinding: - the captain - Going towards Moskva - The coal All at the same time. I'm currently 1.5 points from IFHE (how I miss IFHE). I managed to patch up my Chapayev regarding concealment with the module and camo and only yesterday I mounted the improved range module, put some flags on and I'm half way to t9 But the difficult part will be DM. Donskoi My last Russian captain, the RU jingles is all I have left and he's got 3 points. So, stock ship + 3 points captain in t9/t10 battles... Most certainly i'll do what you said to pay for the retraining of chappy's captain to DM. Donskoi.

    So, planning ahead...

You don't want to be in the same boat I'm in. Here am I in a patch up Chapayev, with 11.4 km detection (thanks to the concealment module + camo) with a 8 points captain, so no IFHE nor concealment I have the new Hull but I don't have the range module yet. I have done 1/3 of the way towards T9.

    So, planning ahead...

I do have enough steel for 33.250 coal and a 25% discount in the category ship for resources. How do I use both of them?

    So, planning ahead...

Forgive my rumbling and mumbling The thing is: I do have over a million free XP after I free Xp way to Leander (one of my goals) - To have a decent British CL. I was saving for Odin or Mainz, In case that one of those will be released as a freemium. If not, well... Friesland? After that I don't really know what to do with the free XP. So I will grind towards Moskva , to at least, cheapen the free xp cost if I have to use free xp to get it, that way will be easier to have enough resources again to get Odin or Mainz if one of them will be release as a freemium. So, Moskva, I think is more or less under control. I have to see what's all about with that LM thing. For now and for a long time the main goal it's to get Moskva. Ceased to be, to get eventually and started to be I have to get while still I can. As I said in the other topic. My goals for coal was getting JB and Salem at the same time, I never worried about Smolensk , it was always a thing from afar, a subjective matter that I heard of . Like a cautionary tale that a grandfather tells to a grandson/granddaughter just like the little red riding hood and the big bad wolf. With the PR event and many other ships I didn't even bothered because they weren't in my wish list, they weren't part of the tiers I normally play and so on. But this time WG plans to do things with ships I want. And I do regret not pulling the plug on Kutusov while I still could. I'm trying to not make Jean Bart and Smolensk another Kutusov. I do have a bit of steel, once and if I secured Moskva, Stalingrad will became redundant (i'll be happy with "Battleship Moskva" A.K.A. the poor's man Stalingrad), then I could convert steel to coal. I don't have any use for steel, I got what I have because of Stalingrad.

    Smolensk or Jean Bart ?

Hi. First of all sorry for the long post. Yes, I know there's nothing in common between them. And, for now, they are way up from what I'm usually play. And to tell the truth, until now, I was heavily inclined. 1 - to do nothing with my coal. 2 - of all coal ships I want two, Salem and Jean Bart. Salem - because it's a cool ship with fast reload, 27 mm bow (yes, I know it's not much in nowadays) and featured as Graf Spee in the movie Battle in the river plate, while DM it's just DM. (yes, I know the pros and cons, but I still prefer having Salem over DM, even if I regret later) Jean Bart - Seems like a cool ship and fast BB with decent reload, I'm not Flambass but I think with time I can make it work and brawl a little, plus, it has Historical pedigree Smolensk - Surprisingly, it doesn't mean much to me, I don't know why, I like rail guns, I like spamming HE, RU CLs are one of my favourite lines, I like fast shooting guns I can't decide what to get first, so I was planning to get both (Salem and Jean Bart) at the same time, with no worries and no hurries. But all of the suddenly, WG decided to put a timer in all of this and I'm short in coal and I doubt that I can get both of them at the same time in the time period that they gave. My doubt regarding Smolensk comes from back in the day when I had the opportunity to grab Kutusov (in a similar occasion) and I didn't went for it when I should. With this said. Should I go for Jean Bart or Should I go for Smolensk? Please, advice. thank you.

    Is Moskva worth grinding?

He's not the only one, you know? In the case you want go down a few tiers...
  8. Butterdoll

    Is Moskva worth grinding?

For me the question it's not if the Moskva is worth grinding , The only question I have is How much time do I have to grind it? I'm at t8. Since I unlocked Budyonni I knew that Moskva would be my first t10 ship. Such believe was reinforced with the introduction of Stalingrad, not only by the fact I can't reach it but also because Moskva armour was buffed. So a pretty old goal that I have, I can thanks to my casual game play, Budyonni and Shchors for the huge delay. So, How much time left do I have? Do I have to free XP the freaking thing?
  9. Butterdoll

    Smolensk or Jean Bart ?

Yeah, Kutusov, I don't have it and I'd love to have it. Kutusov it's the main reason I'm contemplating Smolensk because... because...Normally I can choose between Budyonni, Nurnberg, La Gal, De Grasse, Dallas, Shchors, Helena, Myoko, Mogami, Cleveland, Charles Martel, Chapayev, Omaha, Furutaka, Kirov, Emil Bertin, Hawkins, Devonshire, and so on, to achieve these kind of missions and I never felt out of options or felt they are underperformance in that regard This, is why I hesitate I never saw Kutusov again. I don't want that to happen to me again. There are more fast shooting ships out there, but... There are a lot of things in my wish list, all suspended by Subs. Let's see how that will turn out. But all of you have good points and advices that definitely will help me decide.

LOL russian cruisers split coming next

better to get on with this, perhaps I can grab Moskva in time
  11. Butterdoll

Number of battles played when viewed on the forums.

well, that page sucks. I went to see mine and I only had 2 ranked battles. I had to go in game to see, so, in my case total - 8493 random - 4322 co-op - 2586 ranked - 162 7072 battles vs the total of 8493 1421 battles in Operations? beats me.
  12. How I disagree with you on this. (first part) Please yes. when they excluded t5 ships from operation they made a mistake, there are a few t5 ships that can hold their own. And don't forget that back then t5s didn't face t7s as they face today. Call me an optimist but I think that will show if the t5s are reinstated back in Ops. Which ship you prefer in your team? a Furutaka or a Pensacola? there should be Operation for all tiers. from t4 to t10 And special operations for those WWI "nutjobs" AKA fans (t2 and t3)
  13. Butterdoll

What is the point of light cruisers?

Well, until recently there were quite few CLs past t6, they went as far as t7. T7 and above only CAs. you can go through the tiers and CLs are quite useful across the board. Until a certain point. Maybe because CLs weren't built in in higher tiers and balance didn't contemplating them, until recently? Plus the addition of a bunch of dds, often described as small cruisers, starting with Kabah, a few years back

GC may not turn anyone in a world star. It's just a don't give a damn kinda of ship. :) Even in my bane of BBs days if I saw one I would go the other way.

Wargaming & how the player base is treated

Actually, Belfast and Kutusov, Missouri weren't removed from the game, just taken out from the store. There are still some sailing around from owners that didn't sell them at the time. Remember how Conqueror was back then? Very different from how is today. Conqueror alone inspired many topics requesting for Nerfs, that ship was OP as F... as all RNBBs . It took a while to be Nerfed Same will happen to RU ships eventually. Give it time. Well, I'm going to D4 and I got some bundles opened doing daily missions and whatnot. (I don't know how many) Hawking I got in bundle nº4 Devonshire I got in bundle nº5 I didn't pay for any of them.
  16. Butterdoll

so i got this devonshire cruiser

Man, that's ok, you go for what you think it's better/exciting for you But the Heavy Brits are actually ok or good even. (middle of the pack I would say) Italian cruisers, they are really bad, smoke it's not that great, you can wait it out and blap them or citadel. WG made a line with everything that is undesired in a cruiser. IMO Heavy Brits are actually useful. Just saying
  17. Butterdoll

so i got this devonshire cruiser

Actually, Devonshire it's pretty ok ship for what it is. a bit slow overall, decent rudder. I can't say the same about Italian cruisers. They simply are a major clusterfuck No HE Weak AP Useless SAP extremely easy to get rid of. Gorizia is like a worse Koeningsberg with worse guns . Fortunately I didn't grind them.

    Need buying advice

Then play more your silver ships with those captains. - you will gain more gameplay experience and familiarity with that said ship and you will train your captains while doing so. - premium ships as training ships are meh, because if you use them as a training ship they will never be as good as they could be. (low skill points captains and could also be the case as you train the captain for other ship, that premium ship will never have a optimal build). A silver ship with perma/premium camo can be practically a premium ship, plus you have flags too if you want to accelerate the training. But if you want to buy a premium ship, that's a different story, whatever captain you will use, use it for that particular ship.
  19. Butterdoll

    British heavy cruisers

Well, WG did a good job in the heavy part, they feel a lot heavier than all my CLs and CAs in those tiers. I don't know where the heaviness comes from, certainly not from the armour. they are not bad ships, the guns are ok. Devonshire is better than Aoba e.g. The line lacks one more consumable to work with AR amphetamines, to enhance the crew capabilities Not that uncommon thing in the WWII

    Leander build.

Hi, it's me again. I finally unlocked Leander (with free XP) My first impressions are a little mixed. Upsides Amazing speed conservation while turning, amazing acceleration, rudder will be better, amazing concealment . Downsides Squishy with poor range, ammunition type. What the hell I'm going to do against BBs or angled targets? apart from roll over and die. It's a far cry from what I'm used to which is, HE spamming from medium to long range support, depending on the ship, with Leander I have to be close support for dds, at least is the impression that I have. And as a last resort a dd itself. am I right? But for now, Leander it's a coop only ship. Regarding the build PT, AR, SI, CE, RPF, BFT+HA PT, AR, SI, CE, RPF, LS+HA+IFA PT, AR, SI, CE, RPF, BFT+LS or other? Thank you.

    Leander build.

Eventually. For now I'm experiencing a all new thing, as is, I'm just cannon fodder in random (I don't even have CE yet)
  22. Butterdoll

    Leander build.

I'm digging Leander. I wasn't expecting this. The damage output is still inconsistent, can be very bad or can be good (only guns). which makes Leander very situational Imo. Very limited vs BBs best to go away or support who is fighting that said BB, either way, only an Hail Mary attempt to rush the BB will work. if it works at all. because ambushing BBs is counting on them to derp in something. extremely good vs dds i'll dare to say a tad better than HE IFHE spamming cruisers. The heal gives Leander some sustainability vs other CLs (brawling for short time periods) Ironically the hardest to citadel was emerald, because the bot was just pursuing me, following my "footsteps" Leander in brawling mode with support. (guns only) But I still forget about smoke or I don't find a right spot to deploy the smoke because reasons. I'm too far the targets are angled, or going behind islands and so on or I just go f.. it. Most of the times when I deploy the smoke it's just to mask my retreat. Position is the key. So a lot to discover and learn. I don't know if it is because of the poor range but the floaty/arch shells, they haven't give me problems even shooting dds. I know I'm just in the coop stage, next stage will be Ops, before random . And all I said may not stand in fully in a random environment. But all of this to say. Fiji is seen by many as the best cruiser at t7, I always doubted that because Shchors or Helena (both of them pretty damn good ships), so big shoes to fill At this moment Leander can be Fiji's biggest enemy. While I was expecting nothing from Leander, this ship is creating expectations about the t7 RNCL, which has more guns, but it's bigger. clumsiest? Let's see...

Most of the times it's all we have to counter if there's no hydro or the hydro it's in cooldown, can be a BB can be a CL, can be a CA or even a DD.

Thank you. I meant, I was confused about that discussion about PT a posts earlier. I replaced Vigilant with PT in my Gneisenau.
