Resetting 2 lines in a split tech tree for research bureau
Butterdoll replied to luokailk's topic in General Discussion
It's not about liking or disliking. it's about understanding why so. you (you as in general you) grind through 10 tiers, 10 ships, you meet a lot of turds in the way/not suitable to your game style and at the end, you may like 2 or 3 ships in each tree and you throw all out the window for a ship. (in this case Colbert). and you make that several times. I just reached Moskva and I tell you it's never going anywhere but between Port and Battles. Having to play those turds all over again, pls no. For a ship or two? Without any guarantees that I'll see my Moskva again? Oh, no. At least with competitive play, you (you as in general you) would gain Flint or Black or other ships alike. Flint it's different enough from Atlanta and Black from the rest of other US DDs. I can see the appeal in that. But in what you all doing I only see high risk and no reward, especially if you (you as in...) don't have plenty of XP aside. -

there's too little in it. Colbert, Smolensk, tomato, tomato. isn't it? -
Resetting 2 lines in a split tech tree for research bureau
Butterdoll replied to luokailk's topic in General Discussion
Why do you (you as in general you) reset a line? To get Colbert and Ohio or there's something else apart from legendary modules? I just want to understand, it makes no sense to me. after all I went through to reach T10, now I must to throw that away and restart the line several times? [edited]that. Moskva e.g. there was only two ships in that line that I love + one that I like, the rest of the tree was crap, no way I will reset that line. Now, I don't have plenty of resources, I just have the enough to get by. But I have no problem to see them pile up forever. I just don't get it. -
What keeps you in game after all the crap wargaming has put us through

The Chinese have a frozen version of world of warships the rest of us are in world of lab rats. It would be nice to return pre patch 8.0 -
Yes, relying in cooperation in random could be a bit of a stretch. Sometimes I wonder (by players behaviour) if players can make out differences between builds or if the ship it's a stock ship or not. If you spot a Baltimore, could you make out his build? (that it could take some time) Before you could differentiate a stock chapayev from a radar chapayev, now I don't know (i'm not a dd player) But Dimitri Donskoy it's easy. If you spot him at 14 kms away that means DM doesn't have concealment, so you have 2 kms to play with him because his radar has a 12 km range , you could bait him, he could respond with radar and you never know that you successful just bait him. About that. I wonder if the division could be better off with RPF alone without the waste of a consumable plus a conventional radar ship plus something else.
-
Or i'm missing something or the radar on the new and upcoming RU cruisers are a waste of consumable space. they will be useless. Personally I find hard to justify a 20 seconds radar over a 90 seconds/120 seconds hydro and in some cases even def AA. Radar in my new RU ships will be the first thing to go. Especially if the new ships is a good platform for RPF + Hydro In general, if DD players are used to 20/40 seconds radar and if they find those manageable as you say. Then you don't have to me afraid of 10 seconds of uselessness, 5 seconds for the rest of the fleet.

I only know 3 on t7 . Shchors Helena Gneisenau I did see other ships doing well, but from what I have, these are what I'll bring to Narai every time. And these are the ships I recommend for the job.
-
The Good - Narai is back ! The bad - credits nerf...
Butterdoll replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
@Sir_Sinksalot Shchors can be awesome in Narai just like Helena or every other cruiser when facing little trouble and friends. If you decide to go for little trouble, use the island as cover (middle) whatever you do, you must reach that island before Little Trouble, launch torps, you must hit all of them, it by then should take damage and you will be able to sink it. Miss the timing or the launch or if little trouble don't die, you are in deep crap. But usually he dies right then and there. If you decide to go for the cv (left side) keep an eye in Little Trouble's guns all the time, use all the cover you can find and be very close to the cover (you may shoot emerald and Emile, it's up to you) but keep watching the guns. When Little trouble goes behind the island, then you must go between the islands in the left side (you may shoot Little trouble just before that, it's up to you) Be careful with Atlanta bot. When you get detected, activate the Hydro, kill DD, then the cruiser, then the cv. Sometimes a second ship is needed it . Then join the team. -
12 vs. 12 Arms Race Ranked Sprint Feels like an Arcade Game
Butterdoll replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
There's a new Sprint? for which tier? 12 vs 12? that might ruin the fun, the appeal of sprint was in lower numbers in each team. Arms race? How the hell... -
What keeps you in game after all the crap wargaming has put us through
Butterdoll replied to muumis's topic in General Discussion
I like the game and i'll keep playing it until it ceases to be fun and playable. For how long? I don't know. I have many plans and I have a wish list but all of that it's dependable of the near future. until then I won't spend money on it. If subs brake the game i'm gone. if the subs intro into the game would not be similar to the early times of cv rework. Then i'm playing. if subs are balanced properly into the game then i'm spending money. It all depends on subs and how subs will be. -

Playing DDs in the current Meta
Butterdoll replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
I agree and disagree with you at the same time. I think we are saying the same thing in some parts of your post. i'm repeating myself. Cvs spot jack crap. What cvs do is ruin the spot bonuses for dds nothing more nothing less. Cvs only spot briefly and only for themselves, the exact amount of time they need to do a strike and that's all. If they would spot until the ships could spot each other by themselves, then, go for damage, then and only then you could say the cvs are better than dds in spotting. But that never happens, so, overall, DDs are much better for spotting than Cvs. (not because of the ship but because of selfish players) Just try to remain near a AA ship, a good AA ship can make the bougie man (rocket planes) go away. Even if the planes manage to survive, the damage done to dds are much less than if there wasn't any AA ship around (again, not because of ships but because of players) No it doesn't see above why.(IMO) I think this discussion is set in a random environment with more ships per side and with a different dynamic AA is still useful because not everyone is @El2aZeR or other good cv player, there are much more regular to potato players where AA can be a live saver, literally you press a button and torps go wonky on you and you manage to squeeze between them even in low speeds or can take 6 or more rocket planes out of the skies and so on. If There was more AA specced ships than what exist right now , maybe cv would have a harder time. Well, aiming systems in a cruiser are useless and in some cruisers Aux Arm Mod are a waste because the shells will take forever to hit the target at longer distances and even flamu has difficulties in hitting such targets, I assume the majority of us have the same difficulties or more But that boils down to choices I rather be in a disantavantage in a non cv game than in a cv game. And that never happened to me i never went below 90 % in Baltimore, try to never face a BB early in a game. I'll do better than that i'll show you . Cvs when facing a AA ship tend to leave them alone, the AA ship and everyone that remains near it. -

@Odo_Toothless The problem isn't you but is often the problem Having dds in the late game it's an advantage. early caps don't mean that much, there are games where the team is losing or wining and then it's the opposite. there are maps where the dd can advance having proper support (mountain range map e.g.) -

Plenty of times I see the dd rushing in and be focus down by cv at 6 km to 8 km from me. if that dd would wait a bit before rushing in... it's not too much time. -
No, just a word of caution. if you look to a player and he has 5k battles then the average numbers will take a while going up, but said player could be already better than his 42% say it is. There are players that completely transformed from one thing to another and for that he only needs a couple of thousand battles more for the numbers to finally show that and in which extent. So, you may think you are facing a 42% player but in reality he could be stronger and more unpredictable than that. A wolf in a sheep skin Better seeing which ship that 42% player is stronger and analyse how his stats are instead of relying in the overall stats that may be fallible. Seeing the speed of his improvement is, also helps. But they are thousands of players out there so... yes, stats can be meaningless
-
Sometimes I wonder. I'm here for 3 years or so. Never got one of those. No, it's just rude. It all depends how you say. No, objectively can lead you into a mistake, never overlook an adversary because the stats don't tell you the all story. You know what? I gave up doing that. Because if they are doing that it's for a reason, dragging whoever is in a corner/lemming train/etc to do something will be counter productive because, most likely he don't know how to/where to go/etc. and he will suicide at the first change he will have. because he's way out of his comfort zone. It's apparent when it happens, so I leave them alone. Perhaps some day....

Far from me to tell you how you must play dds. But something has to change, this can't go on like this, one or two dds per side per game and half of them have no smoke, there are games with no dds at all and those games usually suck. games with 4 or 5 dds per side are rare this days. Perhaps dds can't do their job as they did back in the day, but they have to keep doing it, maybe not as independent like they used to be, early caps are high risk thing for them and for the rest of the fleet. Why a dd rushes into a cap at the start of the game? doesn't he know there are rocket planes searching for him? Why doesn't he wait? let the fleet deal with them, then advance. I think the good dd player will be redefined. Providing vision for the fleet while the rest of the fleet has to provide cover. And cvs aren't Kings, we put them there. The Bulk of cv players enjoy an undeserved impunity and they don't even know how they got there. Nowadays there is a void, from what I read, almost nobody specs AA ships for AA. Cvs are just bullies at this point OK, the AA it's far from what it used to be and it's very dependent of the skill level of the cv player but AA it's still useful and worth specking for , it's efficiency is no more measured in how many planes were shot down but if they forced the planes to do a panic drop e.g. AA it's more of a tactic advantage We may no longer ear after 10 minutes. - I'm out of planes. But if people start to spec for AA again, the majority of cvs would "die" by a "death of a thousand cuts". Good AA ships are still left alone by the cv, and whoever are close to them, they can still take an entire wing out of the skies. (when the cv is a potato) and by that I mean 6, 8 planes at once. Back to dds Way back in the day, at t4 there was a game in Big Race map where a Clemson in our team went back and forward between our front lines and the reds, he spotted and spread chaos between the reds, he attacked ships already engaged with us, then slipped back to us and did that, again again and again the all game, he never capped, he was always with us I posted a topic where everyone downvoted that story saying that he was a crappy DD player with a shity gameplay and so on. He was amazing. Perhaps that's the way to go now @Hugh_Ruka Spotting wins games, one thing is certain, defeats Cleary don't pay any bills. p.s. Forget being the point of the spear and focus being the eyes of the fleet. -
For operations. All of them are gems . T6 it's a massive gem.

1 the first thing I did when I got my Baltimore was get rid of radar. Baltimore don't really need it and you can go for RPF or hydro. whatever setup Baltimore will do good, and to support, you can support in different ways. I'm not saying I'm doing this for DDs, i'm doing this because I want to experiment with other builds and I'm happy with how things are going. 2 DDs with smoke are the best spotters in the game, very important to the team, so, the more the merrier and I don't understand why they must race to their demise, just spot and wait for an opportunity, don't be too eager to go to port or to cap. 3 Cvs could be the best class in game but they aren't. Is that hard to spot and keep the flank spotted until the ships are close enough to spot each other? and then go for damage? or Switch sides and spot where the dd isn't? Things like this makes cvs second to dds in value to the team. And back to point 1. I decided to go old style with Baltimore and while the numbers are not the same as before it pays off most of the times. DDs that come to me searching for help are left alone or with minor damage most of the times. And i'm just in the beginning the thing is, if the life is harder for dds, then change the gameplay a bit, adapt, seek protection of the rest of the fleet, as long dds are spotting they are doing their job, don't go right ahead to the cap like before, the fleet can't follow dds into the cap without soften up the other side first but it needs dds to be able to soften them up first. -
IFHE or Demolition Expert for light cruisers?
Butterdoll replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
My suggestion. If you didn't tried in the amount of time WG gave to try out with or without IFHE (during captains re specs) see some videos of CCs with the ship you are thinking to change. See the report post battle with the damage you made with HE. If you are happy with what plain HE can do (in the long run during a battle) you have your answer if you prefer damage with much less fires then go for IFHE. -
Albemarle - worst ship in the game? advice needed.
Butterdoll replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
That's a different story. But calling the Turd OP is something of a stretch. Pensacola Turrets were nerfed or stuck with the stock turrets, I can't remember well. And calling it effective because of t7/t8 shells it's not saying much in the Turd's behave. T6 ships have to face t8s, t7s and t6 with huge guns ( Graf Spee), so, 380 mm, 406mm and whatnot, since I can remember. Adding a couple of 203 mm even with improved penetration in the middle of all that... At the time of the US line split I defended that Pensacola should go to t6 as it was at t7, unchanged. At least, back in the day Pensacola could be top tier sometimes, now, it's bottom tier, most of the times with even worse guns and it need all the help it can get. Or It lacks armour, but the Hull is quite manoeuvrable, they could slap some 152mm on it. -
Albemarle - worst ship in the game? advice needed.
Butterdoll replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Cleveland was a pretty dam good ship, it was one of the great ships at t6. Dallas and Pensacola weren't able to substitute the Cleveland. t6 to this day is where the best ships are and where are the most best ships per tier. Without being OP or breaking the balans. they are just great ships and if you rewind a few years t6 was a glorious tier. @creamgravy The Turd (Pensacola) was nerfed when it was demoted from t7 to t6, reload and turrets traverse speed became even worse than what it was. So, I doubt it very much. Most probably turned in a much worse turd. Against it i found it's a not worrying thing.
