It all depends of many things, only being there. which kind of BB? Germans can take it, and in most cases the best course of action (flamu words). The reverse tactic works better if the flank is holding on, if not, it's only a question of time until you are overwhelmed. The best thing to do is read the situation and if it's hopeless just turn, you can still support while facing the other way. Even if you are the last one in your flank, turn if there isn't any bb there or wait for their salvo and then turn , a few fires wont hurt you and might help you with your reload. Use the terrain if possible

No. Because in Portuguese it's de exactly the same Estaca de Bares Initially I thought you were from Costa da Caparica or from Almada, a beach resort or from a city just in the other side of Rio Tejo, South Bank, or work there -

I always thought that was EL to Azer some gibberish in Spanish mixed up with a make believe place. So, basically you were in transit for some place -
Ban enterprise from ranks
Butterdoll replied to Admiral_Oily_Discharge's topic in General Discussion
Oh, no? So, Why don't WG bring Belfast, Kutuzov, Smolensk and others like them back? While this is true and acceptable and isn't a problem. the problem is there's no ship capable to outperform cvs, especially after you removed the cv vs cv aspect out of the game and nerf AA to oblivion on top of that. And that's the problem. Allowing cvs in ranked it's the same than unleashing a wolf among sheep with not a single dog in sight. -
In the other day i asked for a smokeless dd to spot, he was all tiny and shrivelled behind a Iceberg, spotting crap inside a cap (iceland map) near there there was an Indianapolis and a Shchors, i took +- half the Indy's health and couldn't do more because it just vanished, next ship, a Shchors, i had him in my crosshairs all juicy and stuff and then it also vanished . Long story short, our flank had to do the dd job...again. Man, i tell you, next time i see a smokeless dd i just leave that ship hanging in the wind. You have only one job to do. Spot, especially if you have support.

I always stretch my smoke to the max (sometimes i wonder if i should, because spotting) . Normally, when i smoke up is to participate in the battle. yesterday i had a battle with Shchors but could be any other ship with RPF (the key word it's not Shchors it's RPF), Long story short i ended up herding the guy, half way across the map, he did nothing wrong and was far from being cornered...but that would happen eventually. Then he started to break concealment, by the end, he finally smoke up and did a stand (most certainly by frustration) and started shooting, he had the exactly the same support that he had at the beginning of the hunt. He was a IJN Torpboat, my support was two BBs clicking the map like crazy and spamming F5 (in the case you are reading this, dd player, instead of launching torps from a distance, clearly you knew i had RPF, instead you should had lead me to a more isolate place in the open or ambush me near a island. In the open, you should had close the distance and near your top concealment launch torps and bail out at full speed, laying down smoke to cover your retreat if necessary or close the distance, smoke up and wait for the hydro sign appear on your screen to launch the torps , your target is at 4 km, 6km if it's German at that point, there's very little i could do then, especially with a Shchors, if your prediction is good) But i already was in his position too many times. You need smoke and more to punch through I could unlock my way to t10 with what i already have in Shchors. Tallinn, i already unlocked that 13 sec Hipper, but...i'm in no hurry to play it, i'm afraid that will be more boring and underwhelming than Hipper. I don't know To me, RU line it's been a crescendo since t5 but at t8 for no reason at all, it slows down fast and a lot, Chappy, i don't even have a captain in it, it's the TURD II, I don't dislike Donskoy but i miss having the Shchors in t8 and t9 battles. The armour differences are irrelevant in those tiers but the guns are not . At the moment i'm half way to A.Nevsky, from where i stand and stats wise seems to me my best bet and the closest the new ships are from the traditional RU CLs line ships
-
I like to sit in the smoke , 40 sec smoke isn't for me. Man, Shchors it's the second best ship in the line, third with Stalingrad (i don't have the new ones) but it can crap on chappy and on Donskoy, either on DPM or range or both. I rather be in the Shchors in a t10 game than with Chappy (massive rolling of eyes) or Donskoy.

Yeah, not even Atlanta. but that wasn't my point. we were talking about RN dds and that was one of the two examples i gave why i find RN smoke crippling, i struggled a lot with that 1600 hits with dd's main guns, very frustrating having to be always on the move, accomplishing low number of hits Playing Icarus using the full potential is one thing but using only guns showed me that line isn't for me. That Shchors example was just to illustrate that better...you just have to waited out a bit. US smoke is king, you can be bullied, you can go out your smoke and return to your smoke and still have plenty of time, you deny to the adversary the option of wait it out, most of the times, and force a yolo and that can go either way, even for a CL with hydro and RPF. A well positioned single smoke consumable can make wonders only with it's presence It's a I am here, i'm not going anywhere and you have to deal with me ,because, if you don't, i'll torp everything i can and shoot as long as i can kind of statement
-
yeah, it does. Thundered has all of that you mentioned because it's all it has and nothing more, once it's strengths stops the other ships starts Thundered can be very reliable to hit a target at max range but also can be very reliable to miss a target

Because pushing is not Always the smart thing to do. And not the only thing they can do Brawlers are strong in mid to close range. the others not so much. But for a brawler to have success it needs the game to be somewhat broken down that never happens in the early stages, where the teams are compact, you have to be patient. Personally i have German BBs up to FDG, and the one i played the most it's Bayern, by far. I changed to a tank build and now i'm much more successful than before, plus it's relatively slow, so i don't run into trouble as fast as i did with Gneise or Bismarck. For a brawler to have success, it must have support. Brawlers traded accuracy of main guns, it is why the others keep their distance, not only they don't have what it takes but in the same time they are more accurate and they have a screen of ships to support them Brawlers don't have to have secondaries to brawl. And this is why i went for Alabama instead of Massa, it was love at first sight, i found that it is very similar to Bayern and much more accurate, very versatile and it can brawl, it can be at distance The build will be the same as Bayern's . If i would had gone for Massa it would be more of the same in essence. I suggest. Put another captain in your GK with a different build, see if it fits you or not. try to brawl in your terms not because you are expected to do that or because it's the only thing you can do. the rest of the game act like a regular BB

Well. Keep in mind i'm not a dd player per say. RN dds - I remember a particular battle in Fault line where i slowed down, drop smoke, shoot a couple of shots make a manoeuvre to not be so broadside and that was it, time to go, this game after game, so frustration, only 70 to 80 shots a game by the end of that mission i was doing above 200 but... it's not for me. Just yesterday, i was in my Shchors, spotter plane up and i was dumping on top of a Champagne that decided to go cap, next thing i knew my stern was being shot at by a smoke cloud just behind me i went forward, torps came and went, then i saw a RNDD i turned and in 3 or 4 salvos i sunk it, not impressed. Akizuki - it's awesome, you go to a place, drop the smoke and burn anything around you, i only wish the smoke would last longer. Torps are only there to inspire confidence and to bail out if necessary US DDs - My only experience it's with Nicholas and Farragut, Farragut i think is considered to be the best t6 DD (i saw that somewhere) and it's a pretty damn good dd but for some reason i find that Nicholas it's better, (hey, got me Graf Spee) i don't know if this means anything or if it will translate into Benson vs Fletcher, but with all certainty is one thing that's in back of my mind as I'm reading your advices. And i really wanted a fletcher, to me, "Johnston" it's the Bismarck of dds
-
Thank you all. I have to think more. Fletcher or Benson

I'm not a dd main, so forgive if i ask you basic stuff. I picked up Icarus along the way, the only intend was to play Dinamo op. It's a decent ship, good all around but how i struggled to do 1600 hits with main guns mission. It's just not the ship for doing that (RN DDs are out, they are just as good as smokeless dds) Loyang, good guns? American smoke and hydro seems very good to me but if the alternative it's other than a Z-35? like a gunboat? It can hold it's own?
-
I went from t1 to t10 in the RU line, i did over 800 battles with buddy alone, over 500 kills, in those, there's a lot of BBs. Bottom line. 4 km torps was so grinded into me, that now 6km torps are like a luxury. I'm struggling with Donskoy torps they feel so out of character, i would exchange them for a faster reload of main guns 10 kms torps, pfff ,i hardly use them , they are good to bail out when i bite more than i can chew in my Akizuki. 4km torps seems like a usual proposition as long the ship is good in the gun department
-
How's Loyang as a gunboat? How's Loyang today? Loyang vs Kidd?

in that video i posted, Flamu talks about BoS too. see at 9.33 mark TLDR Basically he says that with the Damage module II + flags you will only gain around 1.8 % on top of the first two and that's overkill (according to him). you can make a 60 sec. fire going down to 35 seconds fire (overkill) For him it's good reducing the fire from 60 sec. to 41 seconds But one thing you have to take into account, apparently he doesn't need it. How about you? Do you feel you need it? If so, take it , if not go for something else. I have it in my Bayern but not at the cost of SI.

For BB main transitioning to cruiser
Butterdoll replied to Admiral_Oily_Discharge's topic in General Discussion
Well, Moskva is what you will need if your goal is Stalingrad. All the other RU ship will not help you there (for catching the hang of it) they are very different ships from Moskva or Stalingrad. -
Know you spoke like a true cv player

I think It's not a theory. The video i showed it's recent, but for some reason, he apparently defend that, but in a older Massa video like this one He had Manual secondaries and the all nine yards. And you are so right when you say that. as useful this kind of videos are, there's always will be variations important to us and diverse, as we are from each other. you can go with an advice of a established dude and missing important facts to us. (because different play styles) That's why it would be so important if we could test the ships ourselves (more often) and cross reference with each other and with this videos. As the example i'll gave already. He doesn't need main armament module I do And so on
-
yeah, Nurnberg do that much better because it's much more nimble and faster to respond, that's not new. the down side is you are going at snail pace forward. Just be aware how your smoke presents itself to the target, don't be in an angle where he can see it. And the targets with torp prediction (white bar) can make out what you are trying to do.
-
I found it But was like i said it's not a thing written in stone... I myself disagree with a couple of things (generally) but he usually provides good guide lines. I'll give you an example. Bama, when he says it doesn't need main armament module because he never felt the need for it, he never lost a turret...well... i found out that's not true, i get my front turret knocked down sometimes, and once i got one turret destroyed and just yesterday i had my two front turrets knocked down . I would recommend that module, especially for Massa. And for dds or cruisers it's better not relying too much on the secondaries to do the job, i think it's better to deal with them personally, mainly because you will need a full secondary build to be able to relying them dealing with a target fast enough. Massa has already 40% Secondaries accuracy built in, the skill will give you 60%, so, i would argue it's much more worth in a Bismarck than in a Massa. And choosing Manual secondaries can be a waste, at least for me. Because i often may forget to click on it Just imagine, A German BB after a battle trying to do X secondary hits kind of mission with 0 hits And besides if you go for it half of your secondaries will not work No. Alabama it's tough enough to brawl, Alabama it's accurate enough to snipe, Alabama it's quite versatile. It's a ship where you can act accordingly if the situation favours you. It mostly relies on the player levelled head than on it's secondaries.

For BB main transitioning to cruiser
Butterdoll replied to Admiral_Oily_Discharge's topic in General Discussion
yeah, just don't rely too much on that 25 mm upper bow, better do things as usual. One thing is having a 27 mm bow vs 380s or a 25 mm vs 380s, in both cases you know what to expect. other thing is having those kind of bows (Petro) you bow in and you never know if you gonna get citadeled or not. Do you have Moskva? If not, and if you can afford it, get it. It's the only ship you'll never need if your goal is that. It's the closest thing to Stalingrad up until now (meta might change with this new Putin boats). Because the "feeling" of the 9 preceding ships of the RU line are entirely different. And until Stalingrad came along you had to train a "special" captain just for Moskva. I remember, many didn't even enjoyed the ships in their climax because of IFHE e.g. Do you carry your captains up the line, or you designate a captain for a ship? Cruisers disintegrate in crossfires in a heartbeat, so be careful -
@SnipaZz According to Flamu, Massa doesn't need MFCFSA (Manual fire control for secondary armament) because already has accurate secondaries and doing so, will give it hyper accurate secondaries that will aim at the ship's citadel, doing less damage, because bounces and shatters) Secondaries builds are fun but a tank build will give you much more sustainability in your engagements and sometimes can make the difference, just don't rely too much in whatever built you go for. (i changed my Bayern build and it's noticeable) and you can always train a second captain, eventually. Bama and Massa are sister ships, both South Dakota class, so i will go out in a limb ... According to Flamu, FP (fire prevention) should come first, CE (concealment expert) after. I guess that applies to Massa too. It's not a thing written in stone but it's a good guide line. Massa/Bama has 32 mm bow, middle section (deck) 38 mm and 32 mm stern Bismarck has 32 mm bow, 50 mm middle section (deck) and 32 mm stern and they burn quite well. know your most probable adversaries (ships from t6 up to t10) Know your ship https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Armor_thresholds try random when your captain has 10 points. Have fun, they are amazing ships
-
I hope you are wrong about that. because (what's in bold) was not the only factor but helped a lot to my burn out, those swings and patches and micro patches. At that time i wasn't happy while playing surface ships nor i was happy while playing cv
